After dealing with the fey forces Ogden meets up with you. "I saw a group of gremlins enter the tower from the east. I think Nithra is behind the attack. Gremlins and corrupted fey are his signature allies." she shouts and points at the clock tower.

You rush to the tower, but the front door is shut and sealed. break in: DC23 strength check The door is made of wood. A group of vexgit gremlins has opened a window on the second floor of the east side of the tower, 20 feet above the ground. DC20 climb

The windows are magically reinforced to prevent breaking. but can be opened with a DC30 disable device check


Oloch tries the door to find it sealed against him. After looking at the open window, he chuckles at the idea of his huge bulk somehow managing to climb up there. Instead, he lowers his shoulder into the wooden door, putting all of his weight into it.

After a few second you break the door open. Arcs of purple energy ripple from between the Clock Tower’s gears and the white stones that make up a fey circle. The pungent scent of ozone and fresh rain fills the room, and from above, the screeching sounds of metal twisting and wood breaking echoes down, revealing some twisted activities above. A surge of energy from the First World animated a sack of weapons and alchemical equipment, which attacks any creature it can see. In the tower you see the same portals as outside.

Hazard:

Hazard: The gears on each of the floors of the clock
tower spin rapidly. Several situations in this scenario
may cause PCs to end up within the gear mechanisms—
passing through an unlucky portal, falling on to
gears from a higher floor, or simply choosing to cross
the gears to maneuver about the battlefield. A PC who
succeeds at a DC 18 Acrobatics check (DC 22 in Subtier
6–7) may walk across the gears safely at half speed. A PC
who fails this check by less than 5 cannot move further,
but suffers no ill effects.

A PC who fails this Acrobatics check by 5 or more falls
prone and takes 1d6 points of damage from the gears.
On the following round, the PC may attempt another
Acrobatics check at the same DC. If that check fails
by 5 or more, the PC takes another 2d6 damage as it is
thrown off the gears to the ground below.

A PC who falls from a higher floor onto a patch of gears

S'Slarn acts fastest and he grapples the sack and Yoshi uses his chance to kick it. Shagratt shoots three arrows at the sack, all three hit, piercing holes into the sack's hide. Archibald starts to sing a song and casts a spell at Yoshi who starts immediately grows.

Lucia shoots two arrows at the grappled sack. Both hit as the sack can't evade them. Piercing damage seems to me more effecive than bludgeoning damage.

The sack tries to turn the grapple before squeezing S'Slarn. S'Slarn can feel the supply sack's content breaking and different liquids soak the sack's cloths.

Yoshi, the enlargement causing him a bit of surprise, unleashes his own flurry of blows upon the sack.

Cutting the bag's cloth seems also to be very effective, Oloch's attack damages the sack more. S'Slarn is able to flip the grapple again and kicks the sack. While Shagratt prepares his arrows Yoshi unleashes a flurry of blows upon the sack, hitting it two times and finally the sack's cloth breaks open and all its content falls out.

Once the sack is destroyed you see Cerotious appearing an a corner. "I'm glad you destroyed this cursed thing." he says. "I did not dare to fly upstairs, but I heard the sound of clanking gears from above. I think the tower is falling apart."

Sack's content:

It contains four each of longswords, clubs, and enhanced versions of alchemist’s fire, acid flasks, tanglefoot bags, holy water, and antitoxins. The bag has a side pouch containing six elixiers and 72 gp.

Oloch grabs an alchemists fire, an acid, and the antitoxins.
"I agree, Lucia. Lets go" he says, and waits while everyone grabs their pick and then leads the way up the stairs.

You ignore the fey and move upstairs.

The walls of this wooden balcony are filled with shelves of papers. Three-foot-tall fences are all that stands between the balcony and the intricate spire of gears that extends from the floor below, growing thicker and wider as it ascends to an impenetrable tangle twenty feet above. You can hear the deafening sounds of gremlins on the floor above and see their tiny arms reaching over into the gears to tear the mechanism apart.

Can the enlarged Yoshi actually squeeze past those portals?

Cerotious is a coward, he stays downstairs. He will not leave the tower in case you need assistance.

Yoshi looks at the fey, but everything seems to be fine.

I'd say Yoshi can squeeze past the red portal to the right, but the book shelves around the blue portal block his path. Acrobatics/Climb to pass the portal over the barrier (and risk falling into the gears) or jump into the portal and see what happens :)

Oloch moves up to the third level and sees eight gremlins causing a lot of trouble. They are busy ripping the gears apart and do not see Oloch.


As he comes around the corner, Oloch sees the gremlins making general destruction. He brandishes his sword and gives a mighty roar before stepping forward and slashing his sword across the closest one.
