Souta takes a look at the spot where Shonne points on the map, nodding, "Yes that would be a good place to set up a leadership tent! It's up high enough to give a good view, but isn't too obvious. I like it." Sadly these giants are almost all full blooded, but you did not need the +2 to succeed anyways.

That's fine, I was thinking Shonne was trying to convince the half-orc Dhiara or Shouta it's a good plan, and therefore could play to their confirmation biases. ;)

Shyvara, begins to talk of the History of Belzken, and how with Proper leadership, the Orcs were run out of the City of Lastwall! Or well, she would have, before thinking about the situation, and choosing a different allegory. Perhaps something with the Brave Half-Orc heroes of the crusade into the Worldwound? Yes, that sound smuch better.

-- PHASE TWO --

Turk points out a few good locations to the councilors, which impresses them. "Hmm, if we keep a few people at those locations, mixed with our enlarged spear welders that might work..."
Success

-- PHASE THREE --

Turk moves up to Councilor Bravok, trying to convince the man that their efforts are important to. On the verge of tears Bravok comments, "You have my full support! I will see if any of our parishioners want to aid you as well."
I probably don't need to say this but success.

Edwin tries to smooth over Kalla's ruffled feathers, suggesting more people on the towers might help better defend the city. She continues to glare at him for a second as she starts to think things over. After a moment she relents. "Hrmm, I'll admit, more people on the towers isn't a bad idea..."

She gives Gro-Khal a side-glance as he tries to read her and suggest a plan. "It's not a bad idea, but we've used those methods for decades and the giants know to keep a look out for them."
Sorry to say but that is just barely not enough."

Tiki looks over the plan and finds quite a few things that could be fixed, the councilors nod at his good suggestions, things they had included in their plans already, but at the last Kalla seems to get drawn in. "I've never trained much with horses. Giving our troops some pointers would help."

Shyvara if you were trying to influence Dhiara more, I'm sad to say she's done what she can to help. However I can see how pulling examples from history could be rousing, expecially how you played it.
Shyvara moves to the center of the room and gives a good rousing speech, asking the leaders to give their group aid, in the example of Irabeth Tirablade.
Success!

Shonne, you never got up a third phase action. If you want to take one, feel free to, it could help.

As Shyvara finishes, Kalla gives a cheer as the other two give each other a meaningful glance and mutual nods. They consult with each other and Dhiara for a moment, before turning back. Kalla, in charge of martial matters, speaks first. "We've decided. It would be embarrassing to have our towns water supply recovered by outsiders without us giving any aid. With our newer plans we can spare a few soilders to go with you and provide aid. We are launching our offensive at dusk, so you have a few hours to explore the city and prepare."

Dhiara then steps forward, "I'll be accompanying you and will be taking lead the half-hour fighters, so focus on taking down the giants. We will be meeting up at the west gates in 4 hours, exactly."

------------------------
I'm not near a computer right now so I can't get the next thing right now, but the scenario let you have some time to prepare and buy things anyways. Averaka is large enough that you can find magical items of up to 1,500 gp, in case you want or need to buy something. Other wise get your battle buffs ready and I'll move us along when I get back to my computer.

The elf momentarily scowls. “Titles encourage complacency by dwelling on the past, dear Bravok. We must prepare for the trials ahead.”

Shonne nods once in agreement.

Shonne, Dhiara has pushed for what she can. (i.e. she can't be influenced more.) And she was the most difficult to move. Assuming you tried Bravok, who is easier to influence, that is still not quite enough.

The group spends a few hours in Averaka, exploring, or not, as they see fit. They seem many of the open shops, fishmongers, craftsmen and not a small number of brewers crowding the streets, creating a lively thronging. As the sun starts to descend to the horizon many of the places start closing. As it nears dusk, a lot of the able bodied men and women start to give their loved ones hugs and kisses goodbye and gather up their armaments, the 'army' apparently being composed mainly of locals.

The group as a whole seems excited, though, to be following the "Pathfinders chosen by Benarry herself!" Dhiara schools them into a marching order and they enjoy listening to Shyvara and Edwin give rousing speeches. As the group marches Turk's songs seem to further inspire the group.

The trek is a longer one as you have to go up into the mountains and circle back, but not and hour or two after leaving, Dhiara calls a halt to the progression. "The dam is just ahead. If you want to prep anything now is the time. Also we should be quite on our approach."

You can start with any buffs you want to, there is enough warning for that.

The group then moves forward quietly, and you soon catch sight of a fairly crude dam that is letting small rivulets of muddy water through, but seems to have stopped most of the little thunder.

Know (Engineering) DC 30:
You see that the dam is weak, and a few hits from the giants will likely take it out. There is one spot in particular you are worried about.

As a cloud moves out of the way the giants on the other side of the dam spot you. With a warning horn blast, the four giants stand up and start grabbing their weapons.

Knowledge (Local) DC 17:
These are common hill giants. They are nasty with their clubs and have the reach one might expect from a larger creature.
[ooc]For every five you beat this by, you can ask from the monster lore list on the last slide

Dhoara and the Averakans are witt you but a lot of thier actions have been abstracted to make this easier to understand. They still influnece the combat, however, and you can do things to help protect or heal them as a standard action. As long as they are still standing, Dhiara can aid you, providing two rerolls for the entire combat.

Who is going to go first?:

Shonne, Edwin just looks like a halfling, he's really just Sheelah the paladin Iconic in a halfling shell. I believe he edited in the haste from your post (considering how close they are and Sheelah doesn't have a native way to give it to herself without a potion). I will say that his tag line speed is incorrect and should be 20 ft, however.

Before the battle starts, Shonne drops not a few spells and buffs the party and many of the army as well. They cheer and start to throng the elf, before Dhiara hustles the men and women back in line, refusing the fire arrows as well. "You pathfinders should use those, we have a few tricks of our own."

Shyvara's speech emboldens the half-orcs and threatens to cause them to start surging out of control again, but Dhiara keeps them in check but barely.

After the grunts and horns of alarm ring out the group starts to rush forward. Shonne and her six twins take the lead, but not far behind are Shyvara and Edwin.

Tiki then thunders past the group on much more intimidating Kiti, making it to the mouth of the dam.

The Giants take a moment to reorganize, but a few of them start snorting in short burst of laughter, while edging each other on in a guttural and rumbling language.

Giant:
"Look, puny ones!" "We can smash! They make good splotches." "Is that one a monkey? I can't believe they brought a monkey" "Oh, look they move so fast!"

Still laughing, the two closest ones, the large one with a purple leg and the larger one with a shock of blue hair move onto the dam. They raise their greatclubs into the air and bring them down heavily on the structure. A few cracks start to form as more of the water oozes out.

Giant:
"They gonna wash away so prettily!"

The giant with, a single, painfully orange tusk jutting from his lower lip, picks up a large rock and runs up to throw it at the man on the big grey animal. He proves to be terrible at targeting little things and the rock sails clear over the money man.

The one with a face so heavily scarred it's almost a pale pink picks up a large rock and moves a few lumbering steps closer, before hurling it at the crowd of half-orcs, his throw lands on the edge of the group but traps a few of the army under it.

In return the army settles into four groups. They draw out arrows and pull out a small fish with giant lips, that you recognize as a puffer. as a group they stab their fishes, notch their arrow and take aim. Dhiara raises her arm and after a second gives the command to fire. The arrows rain down on the giants, piercing them in multiple places and causing many of them to turn a deeper shade of green.

Sprinting straight up to the Giants, Shyvara scowls. At this rate, I'll never get there in time. Sarenrae lend me your wings! With practiced precision, she weaves a bit of magic into her dance, and flies forward on the fiery wings of Sarenrae, scimitar outstretched!
Bladed Dash attack: 1d20 + 15 + 3 + 4 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 15 + 3 + 4 + 1 + 2 = 37
Bladed Dash Damage: 1d6 + 8 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 8 + 4 + 2 = 15

Landing on her feet, she winks at the Purple-legged Giant. "We fight for Averaka! You would do well to surrender!"

If you aren't familiar with Bladed Dash, her movement does not provoke Attacks of Opportunity when she flies in!

The pathfinders leap into action, unleashing a barrage of strikes on the giant with the purple leg. Shonne takes a knee, drawing out two flaming arrows and then frapid fires them one after the other. Both arrows thud into the creature and bury themselves deep, leaving scorch marks across her skin. She reels slightly but doesn't go down.

However the arrows distract the large woman enough that she doesn't even react to Tiki's charge. Her body, however does, as the lance causes her chest to completely collapse in on itself, crushing her lungs and obliterating her heart. To add insult to injury, Kiti, with her capped horns, rips the woman's namesake to shreds. OMG +54? Mind if I ask for a break down of that?

Edwin, realizing his bow won't e very useful, drops it. He rushes forward using the increased speed and draws out his longsword. Edwin, that all would only take a free action and a move action, you still have a standard left.

Shyvara, Purple Leg would aleady be dead by the time you reach her. but with a move and the movement from you spell you should have enough to reach Blue Hair. Shyvara rushes forward, but realizes she can't move fast enough to stop the giants from crushing the dam on foot. Calling on the divine providence of Saranrae, she casts a spell. The goddess obviously grants her consent as the bard gains wings of fire and streaks across the sky, leaving glowing streaks of light in everyone's eyes. At the very end she takes a swing and lands a nasty gash across Blue Hair's shoulder.

Turkbot takes a second, to access the situation, before starting to sing an extremel angry sounding song. He then rushes forward 50 feet. Starting inspired rage and everyone can hear it. Feel free to take the bonuses (conviently spelled out here) or not as you deem fit.

The remaining giants take a moment to realize what happened to their friend, but for now their laughter as stopped.

Giant:
"They killed Purple!" "In just one swoop!" "They need to DIE!"

The giants start working themselves into a frenzy, angry words and shouts getting tossed around. Blue looks down at the little flame that just gave him a nasty cut, clearly not unserstanding her words. With a furious snort and a few words that need no translation, he swings his club around, trying to smack the woman. He swipes to the left one way, and the energized woman doesn't react in time catching the full brunt of it. She barely has a second to recover before the giant brigns the club back around, catching her on the right. The large man gives a rumbling chuckle at her pain.

The other two giants decide to throw more rocks. Pink Face sends one sailing across the gorge and lands one in the middle of the group with a sickening crunch. Orange tusk instead sends one flying at Shonne, but he only suceeds in taking out one of her duplicates.

The Averakans, severly battered by the two gaint rocks landing among them, charges the giants. A few of the more precient ones take shots at the stil standing giants, but their pitiful arrows don't seem to bother the giants much.

Thank-you Tiki for the breakdown, I didn't realize that spirited charge was that dang good. Here I was thinking the things in this scenario might be really difficult, I guess not. This'll probably end this round.

Gro-Khal gives a short command to Coins and then takes a moment to enjoy the sound of Turk's rage inspiring song and feels himself getting lost in the impassioned words. Rushing forward with an almost unexpected burst of speed, he closes in next to the giant. Right behind him, moving way faster than a creature on tiny stubbly legs ought have any right to is Coins.
Sadly, it looks like Gro would be provoking before Coins can

Blue hair focuses his wrath on Gro as he closes in. The giant takes a big swing at the big man. Sadly all that muscle, not to mention the giant axe, make it heard to dive out of the way and Gro takes the full brunt of the greatclub. 19 damage to Gro-Khal The giant's attention on Gro, coins has no troubles getting around the lumbering brute and gets into a good position to harry the giant man.

Blue Hair turns to look at the pest, but that prove to be fatal as Gro returns the hit for one of his own. The overly large axe has no problem of cutting the giant neatly down the middle. The two halves fall off the dam in different directions, leaving only some blood behind.

Edwin rushes up past the pitiful reminder of Blue Hair and closes in on Orange Tusk. You didn't move your token, right? If so you had enough movement to get to Orange and attack this round. Can you explain it to me? I have 20ft movement, so double move is 40ft and 20 ft from haste is 60ft. 60ft I needed to move near orange Tusk. How do I have a standard action yet?

Haste adds to your speed, so you can move 40ft as a move action while hasted, or 80 as a double move. That still seems short of the 60 you needed though.

A double move uses your character's move action and their standard action to move twice. If you have an unobstructed charge lane, you could use a full-round action to charge your target, but charge actions have a number of caveats.

Easy enough to explain! First, you have 30 foot movement, because Human. Now, put on some +1 Full Plate with Iomedae Logos all over it, and you're looking at a 20 foot movement.

Now, Haste adds 30 to your Movement Speed, up to Double your speed. In this case, your speed is 20, so it increases to 40!

Lastly, You can spend your Move, and your Standard to move twice, to go 80 feet!

Now, there are some other -specific- full round actions that you can take to get you farther, or let you do other stuff. First, you can Run, which moves you 3x your speed (120 feet) but it has to be in a straight line. Alternatively, you can Charge, to move up to Double your speed (80 feet, also in a straight line) and make an attack at the end!

Hopefully that helps!

And I was making a mistake in calculations, I would have assumed the double maximum was imposed based on your base speed. After a bit of rules searching, it looks like armor imposes its penalty on your base speed and haste speed, giving us 40' you should still have enough to move closer, assuming you hadn't moved your token during your if then post.

On the topic of helping the militia, you can try to boost their AC/protect them with a standard, though giving some idea of how you're helping would be useful. You can also heal them with a healing spell or effect that covers an area, or you could just engage the giants and prevent further harm to the group.

Okay the giants survived longer than I would have expected!

She instead pivots on her knee and fires two more arrows at heavily scarred giant. Her arrows add some very imressive wounds, and if he lives scars, to the giant's face. He wavers in place, heavily damaged by the arrows.

With the end of his rush, Edwin takes a mighty swing at the orange tusked giant and nearly takes off her ankle, creating a nasty looking gash all up the side of her leg. She gives a yowl of pain and glares down at the small man.

Tiki gently, in comparison to the charge earlier, guides Kiti up to the next giant. The squat vanaran pulls his spear back and plants a nasty wound in the giant's stomach.

Shyvarabot, worried about the army but not able to do much to help them recover, instead tries to do the next best thing, stop them from getting hit. She moves forward on her hastened legs, running full hilt to the building near the dam and moving out of the way of Tiki and Kiti should they decide to charge. She stops just inside the giants reach, hoping to draw his attention away from the Averakans.

TurkBot, still raging against the giants, hurries closer to the action. double move

The two remaining giants both look apprehensively at their own wounds, but seem to both decide that the group probably could only pull impressive and gory feats like that against people who weren't prepared. They both hunker down into a more defensive posture and try to lash out at the small ones near them. Pink Face gives Shyvara an untrusting look and pulls out her great club before taking a swing at the fiery haired woman. Shyvarabot is able to gracefully slide to the side at the last second though and avoids it completely.

Orange Tusk decides to forgo her weapon and directly swings at the pest that nearly took her leg off. Her left hands slams into the man knocking him back a few step and knocking the breath out of him, A crit! 23 damage but the unexpected distance causes her right arm to just bounce uselessly off his armor.
