Hello! Welcome to the gameplay thread! I'd ask you to either ninja dot (post somethin' an' then delete) or, as we have some time before we start, we can get some RP going.
Next to one of the bright windows of the Old Fang, a cheerful inn known to be a watering hole for the locals of Magnimar, sits a half-orc woman you recognize as Venture-Captain Calisro Benarry and another man. She reaches across the table and gives the man a firm handshake and a smile. As the man leaves, shaking his sore hand, she turns to you and gestures you over.
“I’ve just finished the arrangements,” declares the Venture-Captain as she motions to the open seats around the table. With a toothy grin she contiunues. "It's good to see ya've finished the things I'd asked ya to and so quickly! I'll go get us some drinks so why don't you take the oportunity to introduce yourselves?"

Shonne stands quietly in the shadows, watching, waiting.

"Gro-Kahl is Gro-Kahl," the towering Nagaji stated simply. He was tall even for a Nagaji, and monstrously built. His armor shown with a fine silver sheen and a huge, devastating looking axe rested in a sling on his back.
"This Coins," Gro-Kahl pointed at the crocodile beside him. "He Gro-Kahl's friend.

![]() |

The crocodile known as Coins laid stock still beside Gro-Kahl. He, too, was clad in silvery armor, and a necklacemade of crocodile teeth hung around his neck. As Gro-Kahl mentioned Coin's name, he twitched his tail, but otherwise remained still.

A tall man stands proudly in his shiny armor holding his longsword.
"Greetings good sir! My name is Edwin, Edwin Towerfall. I am glad to serve you!"

A smiling and good natured man comes into the room carrying a small bottle in one hand and an entire handful of even smaller glasses in another. Turk. The large northern man of obvious Skald decent indicates himself. He is wearing a very nice breastplate and has a hardly used shield over one shoulder. An adamantine great sword is slung over his other shoulder and he is nearly as well muscled as the Nagaji. Greetigns all. I brought refreshments. he says as he clatters the glasses to the table and begins to right and fill each with an amber liquid. Mead. he explains in a non-pushy way, but seems confident that most will want to try his treat.
Seeing the Nagaji his smile broadens and he chooses a chair by the large "man". By the gods you are a big one. he continues. And I predict that you are gonna really like me. Oh the deeds we shall do... I shall write a song about it!

GM Sedoriku |

Venture-Captain Benarry quickly returns to the table with seven full, and sloshing tankards in hand. taking a look at the group, she grins widely. "Ahh, good to se ya're starting to get along already!" She sets the glasses down on the table, spilling only a few drops, as she catches sight of Turk's mead and cups.
"Ah, dang, I'd have waited to get some drinks if I'd known. But I always say 'ya can't have too much alcohol!'" Guffawing over her own words the Venture Captain pulls out a chunk of meat that had been sandwiched in the group of tankards and tosses it to Coins, before starting to distribute the drinks.
She takes a moment to size up Gro Khal before giving a whistle, " Ya must be Gro Khal and Coins. Dang when your file said you were big it didn't do ya justice. Good to see I got someone who might be able to stand up to a beating or two from a giant."
Her gaze then expands to include Turk, "Well, I should probably say 'someones'! Ya're probably Turk, right?"
She takes a moment to address Edwin. "And that means ya're Edwin! I hoping you can help keep these guys in line!"
Taking her tankard the venture captain takes a gulp. "Let's save the mead, and cheers, for when everyone's here."

Not that there is anything wrong with that, thinks the elf from the shadows.

Looking at Turk, Gro-Kahl gives a toothy grin. "Almost as big as Gro-Kahl, probably will like. Any on front line is Gro-Kahl's friend!"
He listened intently as the Venture Captain addressed her agents, and seemed pleased when she gave him attention. "Gro-Kahl handle giants. Hit them harder than they hit you," Gro-Kahl responds, nodding like this is the best advice in the world.

A lithe woman with a reddish bronze skin a hair that burns like a campfire at night sidles over to the table. "May the dawn fill you with Warmth and Light! My name is Shyvara, and I am here to unleash the full fury and fire of Sarenrae upon those that would do evil in the world. I have been told that my zeal can... Burn Brightly, but Sarenrae forgives, yes?" She sweeps low into a bow with a dancer's grace. before rising with a genuine smile. "I am a current attendant to the Scarab..." she begins before pausing mid sentence, before touching her forehead, particularly a crimson Garnet set into a gold circlet shaped into a flame motif. "Well, I suppose I am no longer just an Attendant. I assure you, that my Blade is for the society, and I will help in any way that I can!"
Getting a closer look, she has a gold flame tattooed on her neck, accentuating her already hypnotic physique. Modestly dressed, with a shining silver chain shirt worn under a colorful dancer's outfit made of blue and gold silk. Taking a seat next to the Venture-captain, she removes the horizontally sheathed scimitar from her back and sets it gently on her lap. "I've always been more partial to the Qadiran Coffees than Ale, but I will honor your purchase with a toast! May we discover exciting locations, meet Exciting People, and only draw blood when me must."
Diplomacy (for the toast): 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (19) + 16 = 35
Taking a sip of the beer, Shyvara looks contemplative, before slowly nursing the rest of the tankard. As Turk pours the Golden Liquid into the small glasses, Shyvara smiles. "Kind sir, If you wouldn't mind leaving mine in the bottle for now, I would be in your debt. I would like to taste that golden beverage, but only after finishing this..." She pauses again, as if contemplating the correct answer before continuing, "Excellent beverage provided by our host and Benefactor."

Another Pathfinder enters, this one short and squat, but stocky. He shares some of the simian features of the vanara, but not the typical stature. It is as if someone crossbred a vanara and a dwarf and this creature was the result.
The stature however is not his most striking feature. Neither is the mane of white around his head, but rather the hideous scars the line his face as though someone once tried to tear it off forcefully. It looks more shocking than frightening though overall it just makes him seem more pitiable than anything else.
Hung over his torso and tied to his legs and arms by sturdy ropes are a series of rock plates. Strapped to his back in an adamantine earth breaker.
He takes a seat at the table and looks around, not knowing anyone, he's reluctant to make introductions.

Okay, it's a little early but everyone is checked in, so shall we get started?
Indeed I am Venture-Captain. A pleasure to meet you. Turk offers a hand.
Benarry takes Turk's hand and gives him a strong, rough hand shake. "Nay, the pleasure is all mine!"
She then turns and grins broadly at Gro's advice, "Words to live by, my friend, words to live by!"
When Shyvara approaches the table, Benarry stands up and gives the woman a good looking over, "Oooh, I'd read that you were a firey one, but it doesn't do you justice! Here have a seat and a drink!"
The venture captain grins at the woman's toast. "Here, here!"
She then catches sight of the Vanaran who enteres the bar she gives a wave and a shout. "Over here! you must be Tiki, right? Not many of your kind running around Varisian. I'm Venture-Captain Calisro Benarry, but Cali is fine, and these are most of the people you will be working with, I'll let them introduce themselves to you."
She sits back and takes a deep drag of her tankard. While everyone introduces themselves to the late comer, she gives a questing look around the taproom, as is searching for something.
Perception, with a made up modifier: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (5) + 15 = 20 Failed!
Her face falls. I had told everyone to try being here by now, but we're still one person short. Welp, no matter, we can just fill them in later when they do show up!"
Giving a smile, she pushes aside her, tankard and pulls out a small map of Avistan. “You might have heard tale about some Thassalonian ruins that just resurfaced, but you probably haven't heard the whole story." Pointing to a small island chain on the map she continues, "There’s an island called Flintyreach a few hundred miles northwest of here, and thanks to all of the giants, the only folk with the guts to live there are half-orcs."
"Averaka’s the largest half-orc town the world’s ever seen, so as you might imagine,” she Grins, gesturing at her green skin, “that we get along pretty nicely!"
“One of their scouts spotted fresh ruins recently." The cpatian pauses for a second her face falling, "I really wanted to go with you and checking them out, but getting you together took a while and I'm well past due back south to Garund and the Gloomspires. Effectively the Thassilonian site’s all yours now." For a second she seems almost a little jealous, before she perks back up. "I just finished securing a ship to take you there, and I’ve got a letter to introduce you to the Averakans here.”
With a puzzled look, she pulls out two letters, before giving a sharp intake of breath "Ah, that's right! Shyvara, I have a letter for you from Tahonikepsu. I mentioned we were going to Flintyreach and he nearly jammed this down my throat!"
Elite Agent of the Sages,
The monastery of Tar Kuata in southwestern Osirion is an esteemed school of history and enlightenment. Several of your colleagues visited it recently in search of someone who might command the power of a sage jewel, only to learn that the most honored student has spent many years traveling the world to better understand its challenges. Her letters to the monastery suggest she is now in Averaka.
Find her, and encourage her to meet with me. I doubt a direct appeal will work, so I am relying on you to earn her trust and admiration. Show
her that the Jeweled Sages are a worthy cause through your own actions
and words.
In eternal service,
Tahonikepsu, The Diamond Sage

Splitting this up for readability. And feel free let me know if my posts ever get too long!
The letters handed off, Benarry sits back down and grabs her tankard. “But there’s something even better! It sounds like there's been an uprising in the local giants! For about ten years, Chief Gorgnak has ruled the local giants, but the rumor is one of his underlings has rebelled and started taking his underlings and the chief is right pissed!"
Benarry leans in again, obviously excited. "An Avenkar pal told me know that our half-orc kin are planning a big assault to strike the giants! You can use that chaos to slip through contested territory, check out the ruins, and make sure that anything you can’t explore or bring back isn’t likely to fall into the their hands before we can send a bigger team to finish the job! It sounds exciting!"
She sits back for a second again, sipping her ale and imagining the adventure, before she comes back to reality, a little crestfallen. She gestures out the window to one of the ships at dock loading up on supplies. “However, once the Grinning Pixie is sufficiently re-provisioned, I’m sailing south as fast as I can... I've got a little while to talk if you have questions, though.”
==================
There are somethings you might have heard or read about the ruins or Avenka, so feel free to roll for the following:
formed ancient Thassilon. The so-called Kingdom of Envy was rich in minerals and herds of various animals, and it was known to skirmish frequently and bloodily with its elven neighbors.

"There are many sorts of low giants on the island, and many mixed orc and humans in Averaka. Very dangerous. It would be best to enter the town quietly and gain what news and supplies we can before preceding to the ruins." The elf says in a thick Kyonin accent.
Shonne succinctly explains the spoiler information she knows before arriving at Flintyreach.
What's the terrain/weather like on the island?

GM Sedoriku |

As the elf lays a hand on her shoulder, Benarry gives a start spraying her drink everywhere. "S*##! You scared me there! I'm guessing you're Shonne, then? Give a woman some warnin' next time! You nearly scared me half to death."
The captain, scowling slightly, sets down her empty tankard, before responding to Shonne's advice. "Bah, they're good people and no one's goin' to hurt ya." She then gives a sheepish look, "Besides I might have told them I was coming, and I'd really appreciate it if ya could give 'em my apologies in person..."
Ding, Ding, Ding! Shonne just remembered something very useful! Everyone will get a +1 bonus on all checks made to impress the councilors in Avenka! Unless you want to skip around meeting them.
As for the terrain, the scenario doesn't say much other than it's rocky but given the maps and proximity to the Lands of the Linnorm Kings, I'd say it's cold, a little wet, rocky and mountainous. For actual terrain types, predominantly mountain with some urban in Avenka and a few others here and there.

![]() |

Shonne does not react.
"It would help to know what plans the half-humans have made for war, if only so we do not become unintentionally a part of them."

![]() |

"Gro-Khal confused. How ruins be fresh? What ruins for? Also, we not pick side in fight? Gro-Kahl is Linworm King. Not afraid of giant."

GM Sedoriku |

Apologies! Apparently I was misremembering the name for the settlement and it's not Avenka, but Averaka.
Benarry gives a huff at Shonne's blank face. "Elves! Ugh... I sadly know next to nothing about the specifics of the plans, sadly. I'm sure they're workable if nothing else."
She turns to Edwin next giving him an appreciative look. "Well, the city of Averaka itself is only dangerous if you pick fights with the locals. It’s the rest of the island that’s scary, thanks to all of the giants. Averaka’s been trying to wipe them out for decades, but it’s hard to get rid of trolls, much less forever."
She then starts to respond to Gro-Khal's confusion, before stopping not quite sure how to explain it. "They're not so much fresh as newly discovered. As for what they are.... I'll let someone try inform you about Thassilon on the trip up."
"But there's no choice in sides in this conflict. If I hear you burned any bridges over there, and especially if you started fighting FOR the giants, I will string you up myself, you hear me! Hopefully, you won't be needed on the front lines, and should focus on the ruins. We half-orcs can handle ourselves!"
After answering the questions, Benarry looks disapointedly at ehr now empty tankard, and then back out to her boat. "Welp, if there's no more questions why don't we do a toast to good health and adventure with Turk's mead and then I should be on my way."
If there's nothing else you want to ask about or need to do in Maginar, then I'll move us along tomorrow.

The skald will take 20 for a 29 in History and recount I recall a song about the region known as the Ironbound Archipelago. It was once known as Edasseril, one of the seven states that formed ancient Thassilon. The so-called Kingdom of Envy was rich in minerals and herds of various animals, and it was known to skirmish frequently and bloodily with its elven neighbors. According to the ballad the most infamous of Edasseril’s rulers was Belimarius, runelord of envy. She was a master of abjuration, though if her arcane wards protected her during Earthfall, nobody witnessed her return. The records suggest that Edasseril was once a peninsula, not an archipelago. A common theory suggests that large portions of Edasseril sank into the sea following Earthfall. It is likely these same seismic movements may have buried the most impressive ruins, many of which doubtlessly remain hidden.
He opens the bottle of mead and pours a large splash into each cup. To the mission. he toasts. As glasses are clattered to the table he wonders out loud. With many ruins under the waves perhaps we should be prepared to venture under water ourselves. Best to lay up what supplies would be needed here that to try to do so there. And since we go by ship the ability to breath water would be welcome anyway.
If nothing else, a option of water breathing is 2 PA and can be shared with the group.

GM Sedoriku |

Benarry takes a cup and raises her cup, repeating Turk's toast. "To the mission!" She drains hers in one gulp, before glancing out the window. "Oh shoot, the Pixie is almost ready to go! You'll be taking the Howling Badger to Flintyreach it's a few ports over. But I've got to go. I look forward to hearing some good things in your reports!"
--------------
After a few unenventful days at sea, the Badger catches sight of the island, the large and imposing mountains making a dark background against the blue sky. As the town of Averaka starts to come into sight a few longboats pull up to you and start to guide you into a teeming port. Almost all of the peirs are crowded with boats of some sort, many, many fishing boats fill the left most docks where as the right is filled with longboats and other boats intended for less peaceful purposes.
A few of the ports in the middle, though are set aside for merchants ships, and it's this one that the Badger pulls into. A few guards on the dock give you dark, flinty looks as you disembark. In a tone that doesn't quite suggest hostility, but is definitely not friendly they ask, "What might your business with Flintyreach be?"
A mention of the Society and a wave to the letter signed by Benarry, the half-orcs warm up a bit. "Ah, then you'll be wanting to see the war council!"
They start to lead you through the town. Averaka proves to mostly be a large settlement of single story houses, set against a drak and blaek backdrop. But what the town lacks in color, it more than makes up for in the vibrancy of the people. People bustle and throng through the small streets, carrying things to markets or purchases back home. They sound of brash voices rings out from around every corner adn at least a dozen different languages filter out of windows when you pass by.
Though almost all fo the residents are half-orcs, there are also more than a few humans and dwarves toiling alongside their green skinned brotheren. On sone street corner is a group of a dozen or so children taking advantage of some of the sunlight and studying mathmatics outside. They give Gro and Tiki some wide eyed stare and a few timid waves as you pass by.
Some of the more perceptive people in the crowds correctly guess what you might be and move up to the group asking after Benarry. When they find out that she isn't with you they almost always move away complaining loudly.
The guards finally take you to a rather nondescript one story house that is giving off a little smoke. The pull aside the door and usher you inside.
Inside a warm, smoky haze permeates the broad hall, where three half-orcs lean over a table covered in a map and painted wooden tokens. To the left stands a pensive woman in simple clothing with a book hanging from her belt and a leather satchel brimming with paintbrushes at her feet, form what Shonne has told you probably Councilor Suota Iron-Tongue. She looks at the map for a second before commenting, "Are you sure we can't send a contingent to the dam? We need to clear that sooner rather than later, and who knows when the giants might decide to break it."
In the center is a battle-hardened warrior who grips the table as she looms over the map, as if she were a predator gazing at unsuspecting prey, unmistakably Councillor Kala Tusk-Breaker. She slams her fist on the table scattering a few of the closer tokens and looks up sharply at Suota. "I told you we don't have enough men to mount an offensive and reclaim the dam!"
To the right towers a man wearing a blue and white robe, smiling slightly and touching a butterfly-shaped amulet as he ponders the situation, clearly Councilor Bavok. Clearly not taking a side in the argument he instead looks up at as sees the group, clearing his throat forcefully he, draws everyone's attention to the group. "We have visitors! What might you be here for?"

Before departing Turk takes his own advise and, using his influence with his faction, acquires a potion of Water Breathing. He laments that his current funds are too low to purchase a cloak of the Manta Ray.
On the voyage Turk is good company. He pitches in where he can and with the crew and spends time drinking and gambling with them In the evenings he sings of his northern homeland and plays a small drum, both with some skill. And he keeps producing bottles of mead from somewhere.
As the group walks from the ship to the war council he responds to the singing around him with a clear loud voice that bolsters everyone's walk, making it seems like a light stroll and expending less energy that it might otherwise require Song of Marching

The walk up to the war council is swift, as Shyvara is remarkably light on her feet.
Upon admittance to the War Council, Shyvara smiles and bows to the assembled leaders. "Thank you, oh gracious hosts, for your invitation into your home. I understand that you are in a bit of a bind, and we could potentially ease your burden! In addition, I have heard stories of another traveler that has come through Averaka. I am looking to meet them, and perhaps share stories of Martial Prowess!"
Removing the bottle of Whiskey from her backpack, Shyvara happily produces it with a flourish. "We are very sorry that our Benefactor, Calisro Benarry was unable to attend this meeting, but sent her apologies in her stead. Additionally, I brought a token of my appreciation for a future of mutually beneficial arrangements!"

Bravok gives a smile as Turk explains the group are Pathfinders. "Ah, I was guessing as much. You're well met but might I inquire..."
The calm man is then cut off by Kala as she gives a loud snort. "Oh and if your the group that was promised to us where in the nine hells is Benarry? She promised she was coming!" Her bluster is however cut off by Shyvara as the firey-one diffuses the situation with some well applied whiskey and words.
The burly woman gives a sniff, "Well she must have taught you well. You got my favorite brand of whiskey. I guess we can use you instead."
She makes a broad gesture inviting you to join them around the table. Once everyone is in place she starts “We invited Benarry to join us in our attack on the giants. I'm sure you're well aware, but Chief Gorgnak has lost control of some of his tribe to another giant. He is spending so much attention trying to reclaim command that he has left himself undefended here and here.” Councilor Kalla fiercely prods the table, causing several of the nearby tokens to bounce.
“In the meantime, several of his other giants have driven off our scouts to the west and diverted or dammed the Little Thunder. It’s our main source of fresh water, but our cisterns are still full enough that I’m not worried, but it could prove problematic, in case their forces over there decide to join in to our fight."
She then looks up at you, smiling fiercely, “That’s where you come in. While I lead our forces around the north, you can check the river and see what mischief the giants have caused at the river. Our attack should prevent any reinforcements from arriving, so once you’re done at the river, you should meet minimal opposition in exploring the ruins. Familiarize yourself with our plan, and we shall make ready to set out at dusk.”
Councilor Iron-Tongue loudly clears her throat, and Kalla scowls for a moment before adding, “The scout who reported the ruins never returned. He sent a messenger bird back to us with the general location, but we have not heard from him since. Hagal is cunning, but deep in hostile territory.”
____________
There is a social encounter coming up, but I'll need sometime to get it prepped as Shyvara happened to guess what was happening next and sucessfully prevented it! I might get something up in a few hours or it might take longer, depending on how much time I get to work on this at work.

ouncilor Kalla, clearly dismissing you looks back down at the table and starts to reorganize the tokens, before Councilor Souta clears her throat in an even more pointed manner. Kalla looks up and give the other woman a sharp glare before relenting. "Your not half-orcs, but I guess you are proven Pathfinders... Here come take a look at this map. Maybe you can see something here that we can't."
Influencing the War Council
_________________________________________________________________
At this War Council, you have an opportunity to impress or influence the various councillors and other dignitaries.
- We'll be breaking this council into three phases.
- During any given phase you may either attempt to impress a councillor or improve the battle plan.
- During this council, each PC may each succeed on any given skill only ONCE. Multiple PCs can attempt the same skill.
- Each Councillor and the Battle Plan have specific skills that you can try. Check out the list for each below.
_________________________________________________________________
RELEVANT SKILL CHECKS
- Improve the Battle Plan: Knowledge (geography) or Profession (soldier); if you are proficient in at least one martial weapon you may instead use 1d20 + BAB + (Int or Wis modifier); bonuses on attack rolls against giants may be added to this as well, as may favored terrain (mountain).
- Impressing Councilor Kalla Tusk-Breaker: Kalla leads the town gaurds and oversees the patrols around Averaka. You can match her tough demeanor with Intimidate, demonstrate knowledge of outdoor skills with Survival, or judge which parts of the plan worry her most and address them with Sense Motive.
- Impressing Councilor Bravok: Bravok serves as Averaka's chief ambassador, traveling throughout the Inner Sea region to spread the word of Averaka and attract more half-orc settlers to the island. Bravok also manages the town's largest temple, devoted to Desna. Tactful overtures (Diplomacy) and confident speeches (Perform: oratory) resonate well with his style. He also respects those who connect on a religious level (Knowledge: religion).
- Impressing Councilor Suota Iron-Tongue: Suota maintains Averaka's lore and society, serving as a teacher for children, artists, and craftspeople alike. She promotes curiosity and education. Those learned in cultural lore (Knowledge: local) and classical education (Knowledge: history) earn her respect, as do capable wordsmiths and educators (Linguistics).
I have posted most of this information in the slides above. Also, due to prior information and time to prepare everyone adds +1 to their checks.

-- PHASE ONE --
Edwin - Bavok
Gro-Khal – Battle plan
Shonne - Souta
Shyvara – Kalla
Tiki - Kalla
Turk - Kalla
-----------------------
Three of the pathfinders converge on Councilor Tusk-Breaker, almost overwhelming the woman. She stands her ground though, taking each of you on in turn. First she turns to Shyvara. "You are certainly right, protecting the city is the most important thing, however, if we can't get that damn dam clear, protecting the town would be meaningless. We could probably spare a few of the city’s garrison to go with you.” Success!
Next, she rounds on Turk glaring at the shorter man for a few seconds. She finally relents with a sigh. ”Was it that noticeable? I must be slipping. I’m not worried about you being here at all, I’m worried about Hagal, our scout. He’s been gone for way too long and he’s… our best scout!” Turk notices her worry seems a little more than one might expect for a scout, even a very skilled one. Success!
Her emotions ruffled from the clear read from Turk she turns to Tiki. ”No need to go foraging now, but if you are really that good at finding food, maybe you can point out some likely spots on the map here?” Success
Bavok watches with interest as the hulking nagaji approaches the map and table. But when Gro mentions the possibility of growing and longer weapons the councilor smacks his forehead. ”Of course! If we enlarge the polearm users they can control a larger area and be more effect at dealing with the giants on their own terms!” Success
The councilor bends over and starts to move tokens around. When Edwin gives his promise, Bavok stands up and looks the paladin in the eye. In a formal tone, the half-orc responds, ”As a paladin, I would hope that you understand the weight of those words. In the name of Desna I accept.” His face then splits into a smile as he continues, ”As long as I can add the corollary I get to reattach your hand should the worst actually happen.” Success
Shonne seeks to sway Souta, serenely sermonizing. Sadly, Souta stays singularly stoic, seemingly scorning Shonne’s special succinctness. So very close, but no cigar!

Daylight spills in through the main door as an elven woman slips into the building. Despite wearing loose garments better suited for desert travel, she seems unperturbed by the cold. A gleaming holy symbol hangs from her waist.
“Ah, Dhiara,” declares Councilor Bravok. “We were not expecting you for several hours. How did you—“
”I ran,” the elf states matter-of-factly. “These islands have an austere beauty, but with giants on the move, there was no time for dawdling. Have I arrived in time to assist?”
”Of course,” Bravok replies. He faces you and gestures to the new comer. ”Pathfinders, may I introduce Dhiara, paragon of Tar Kuata and most recently Scourge of Tanglebriar. She arrived unexpectedly with the intention of aiding our battle, and we are proud to have her.”
The elf momentarily scowls. “Titles encourage complacency by dwelling on the past, dear Bravok. We must prepare for the trials ahead.”

Dhiara is also avialble to influence!
- Although the councilors respect Dhiara and her insights, she has limited sway over where the halforc forces deploy. Only one successful check may be made against her.
- She responds well to calm, measured arguments (Diplomacy), especially those that relate to her dedication to Irori (Knowledge [religion]).
- She has spent the past several decades traveling the world so she respects those who are well traveled and have learned lessons from the places they have seen (Knowledge [geography]).

Don't forget the +1 from Shonne's prior warning, *couch*Turk*cough* if you succeeded at a skill you can't succeed again. If you failed you can certainly try again.

Coming up to Kalla Tusk-Breaker, in a surprising flash of insight for Gro-Khal he says, "Good chance Gro-Khal and Coins and friends find Hagal. Scouts important. Best scout, very very important. If Gro-Khal and Coins and friends search, find Hagal. No worries."

Shyvara's already bright eyes light up as Dhiara walks into the room. "Dhiara! It has been too long! I have seen your prowess on the Battlefield in the Name of Irori, and know you would be a considerable help in the coming fight! Let us discus tactics, and show these Giants not to trespass where they are not wanted!"

Souta takes a look at the spot where Shonne points on the map, nodding, "Yes that would be a good place to set up a leadership tent! It's up high enough to give a good view, but isn't too obvious. I like it." Sadly these giants are almost all full blooded, but you did not need the +2 to succeed anyways.
Kalla gives Gro-Khal a hopeful look for a few seconds, but then shakes her head. "No, we can't risk the safety of the city in sending more people with you for one scout! I hope you can find him though!" I like the approach, but that wasn't quite enough! You can try this check again or another. You can try using a different skill than the ones listed, as long as it would make sense.
Souta still examining the place that Shonne suggested, looks on in amazement as Tiki points out the nearby over hand on the map. You're right it would provide cover. If we set up our base of operations here, then we wouldn't need as many people to protect it. This is perfect!" Also a success!
Feeling a little vunerable from all of the talk about Hagal, Kalla lashes out at Edwin, when he starts to talk about the gates. "The gates are more than protected! Do you think I'm stupid!" Close, but not quite enough.
Dhiara's eyes light up for a second as she catches sight of Shyvara. "Ms. Emberfury! It's a pleasure to see you again. I would say it's been just long enough, but yes tatics should be the most important right now." A success! Dhiara has now been completely swayed!
======================
Reading back, I realize I didn't mention but the point of this encouter was to get the war council to lend you some troops to aid you in reconquering the dam. That might help make a difference in making decisions on what to say.
Also, you can influence the same person more than once, but not with the same skill.
