ROUND 5 (BOLD may post!)
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Male (32 damage; 60ft north), Grimdoc (threats male), Female, Marcèl (acting strangely), Calistan (2 damage), Samuel (can't see; 40ft away)

Marcèl, it sounds like something's attacking Grimdoc in the dark!

Sovereign Court

Taking his sword back out, Marcel moves to find Grimdoc.

"I think he wants you to surrender." Marcel says judging by the tone of the man's voice.

Double move.

GM GM GM ∞ | Slides | Chronicles

With a twinkle in his eye, the male aims his shortsword at Grimdoc's protruding belly...

Shortsword: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (12) + 12 = 24
Damage: 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5

...and cuts a clean horizontal gash. Moments later, the entire wound heals up, and the male looks horrified (exactly 5 damage Life Linked to Calistan).

"Гах! Несреќата носител, и да сте! Тоа не е дури сонцето надвор!!"

If anyone can understand Aklo:

"Gah! Doombringer, you are! It's not even sun out!!"

ROUND 6 (BOLD may post!)
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Male (32 damage; 65ft north), Grimdoc, Female, Marcèl (acting strangely), Calistan (7 damage), Samuel (can't see; 40ft away)

I'd imagine Marcèl could attack at this point, though it's considered mundane darkness (50% miss chance).

Grimdoc will step back and cast light on the end of his lucern hammer to help the other see where he is.

He shrinks down to normal size.

"Out this way, guys! The punk tried to stick me...I mean he did stick me...but Cal healed me I think. But my britches are still cut.

AOO if applicable:

+1 Lucern Hammer, PA/FF: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (1) + 11 = 12

Marcèl attempts some fancy maneuvers in the dark, but isn't very hopeful.

Grand Lodge

Male DEAD Dwarf Inquisitor 8 / Fighter 1

unless he moved, the guy should be in the radius of light and not need miss chance...or that was my hope .

GM GM GM ∞ | Slides | Chronicles

Indeed. The 2nd level darkness spell on Samuel's longsword will override Grimdoc's light cantrip, but Samuel's not there, yet, so Marcèl's attack goes off.

With a flurry of motion the daring Swashbuckler saves the day! (you recover 1 Panache, if you've spent any)

Grimdoc will call to the others if they cannot see his light. He casts stabilize on the bleeding humanoid.

Good work Marcel! I think he is down but ain't out. Maybe we can find out what's going on.

He will return to Cal and let him know it is over.

Calistan takes the time to fit his armor before going to investigate the bodies. In the dark, he sees the crushed head of the female, but sees that Grimdoc has aided the male in a way that leaves him available for questioning.

Calistan lets the group secure the male before bringing him back from near-death. Once the creature awakes with a start, Calistan smiles and lets the talkers talk.

GM GM GM ∞ | Slides | Chronicles

After struggling, spitting, struggling some more, crazy rambling, and then some more struggling, the male continues to struggle. Every so often he looks to the slightly brightening horizon with fearful eyes.

As the party takes turns speaking in each of their tongues, it becomes clear that nobody seems capable of speaking or understanding what he is saying. And he's not remaining quiet, either, so you have ample opportunity to study him.

Does anyone have comprehend languages, tonuges, or the like? He speaks a couple different languages, but not Common, and going through your profiles I don't see that any of you share a language with him.

Grand Lodge

Male DEAD Dwarf Inquisitor 8 / Fighter 1

usually I have a scroll of comp Lang for all my casters but looks like I used it and forgot to replace it. Here is where being a prepared caster shines. So no help from grim unless the crazy Druid or woman can talk to him. Maybe Cal can teach him sign language .

Calistan shrugs. He points to the creature and looks questioningly at Grim.

Grim will ensure the man's bindings are tightly secured to a tree, shrugs and heads back to bed.

I guess we drag him along in the morning. Maybe we can find some miner that can speak with him.

Grim will go back to sleep until his shift is up or morning, whichever comes first.

GM GM GM ∞ | Slides | Chronicles

You find that it's hard to sleep with all of his very loud screaming and spitting. He chews and claws at his bindings with dirty nails.

Assuming you gag him, he remains distraught, and increases his struggling as the sun comes closer to rising.

Whoever's on watch as the sun rises sees a horrific sight. As the first rays warmly caress the humanoid's skin he howls out in pain so forcefully that he rips his mouth on his gag (-1 Con). His skin is cracking and blistering.

As this horrific display occurs, Calistan sleeps blissfully through the night, unaware of any screaming or hissing and especially unaware of the sunlight-imposed death that seems to be afflicting the creature.

Grand Lodge

Grim will awaken and realizes the creature is burning in the daylight and throws a blanket over him.

In the morning, so the Oracle can read his lips (his back to the prisoner)

Cal, we may need to let him create his own darkness bubble as we walk. The others will not be able to see, so it will be up to us. Unless you have any other ideas

Calistan shrugs, not caring. He unties the weakened creature and points to the sun and then makes a spherical shape with his hands before pointing again at the darkness walker.

In his other burned hand, Calistan keeps hold of his morningstar. His eyes glare at the creature.

GM GM GM ∞ | Slides | Chronicles

You try covering him in a blanket, but judging by the screaming it's still not working.

You give him enough leverage to cast darkness, but for whatever reason he tries attempting to escape instead.

Wounded, bruised, tied up, blistered, and dirty from rolling around on the ground, he's transitioned from a sadistic murderer to a pathetic lunatic (-2 Con).

I'm at a Convention through Sunday. Go ahead and decide what you want to do with him. I probably won't be able to do a lengthy post until Monday, but I can provide commentary.

Samuel, are you still with us?

Grand Lodge

Male DEAD Dwarf Inquisitor 8 / Fighter 1

Grim will try to knock the prisoner out (non-lethal damage) and then wrap him in a blanket and carry him to their next destination.

Well, I don't trust letting him loose, but we cannot have him burning up either. I suspect he's got some connection to this whole mines and mystery we have been trying to solve.

Unless he seems likely to take more damage, Grim will hoist him up and head towards the next mine to the north (from the map).

Solemnly, Calistan hands his ceremonial dagger to Grimdoc, sure that the dwarf knows what to do. His eyes closed, he nods as to the correct choice.

Grand Lodge

Male DEAD Dwarf Inquisitor 8 / Fighter 1

Grim takes the dagger hesitantly. He was still hoping there was a solution that will allow them to transport the prisoner without damage.

He will not slay the creature bound but, as a last resort, will give him his blade and let him fight.

I ain't gonna kill a helpless...even if ya would do the same to me without a thought. Defend yerself as best you can. I don't know if you understand or not, but we don't trust you and you don't want to cooperate it seems.

Cailstan scowls and takes his holy symbol of Pharasma from the dwarf, roughly grabbing it before the creature can take it.

He eyes Grimdoc with an upset demeanor in his eyes as he places it back in his ornate sheath.

Grand Lodge

Male DEAD Dwarf Inquisitor 8 / Fighter 1

To be clear, Grim was giving the prisoner "his own" blade back...I could not remember what kind it was. But not Calistan's dagger. :{

Grand Lodge

Male DEAD Dwarf Inquisitor 8 / Fighter 1

Marcel, we were attacked and this one tried to poison us or something to addle our brains. Alright, lets get moving then.

Grim will break camp and hoist his pack towards the next mine area.

Calistan nods when Grimdoc suggests breaking for food. The man searches his pack for his rations, but notices that a lot of his food is gone.

He shows his half-empty food satchel to Grim and shrugs as if to ask the dwarf if he is missing any food.

Grand Lodge

Male DEAD Dwarf Inquisitor 8 / Fighter 1

Grim checks his pack

"Hey me too! I know I had packed extra biscuits and jerky. I hope we don't run out. We might have to forage."
