Thanks for the explanation, should have known you had the details right.
With the fiend defeated, Zinkyudo hurries to the fallen Rogar. Drawing a wand from his belt, he kneels by the Taldan warrior and heals him.
CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8
Happy to cure you with more charges from my wand or use yours, Rogar.

Use mine, thank you Zinkyudo!
"Wheew, thanks for the save, people! It was close. That thing hit like a rampaging elephant, really. But now it's dead so we should keep searching for Amenopheus. Before that, checking for useful stuff never hurts though"
Perception check: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 2 = 22
Search the body and the surroundings

Not one of many words Xarkyn says "Many thanks master dwarf for the healing and welcome back from death's door Rogar. Tough foe. Anything good found on it?"

GM Skipper |

@Zinkyudo: No worries, I would have wondered about the discrepancy myself.
The aged sage is nowhere to be seen up here, but...

Rogar points at the ring and recovers the key then he says:"There should be a way to use this key somewhere I guess... but first..."
Rogar smashes the glass and stands ready to deal with the corpse if it reanimates. If not he recovers the ring and anything else of value it may carry.

Perception: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (12) + 14 = 26
"Hmm, behind that encased body is a tunnel of some kind, behind that wall panel there. Perhaps the key you have found will fit in its lock." Lysaer observes as Rogar searches around for clues. As the Taldan smashed the glass without thinking, Lysaer raises his sword in a guard position in case they are attacked.

"Good eye Lysaer. There should be a key around here somewhere...ROGAR-STOP! nevermind..."

I make those Perception DC's by taking 10.
Zinkyudo watches in helpless alarm as Rogar smashes the glass, responding just like Lysaer by bracing for the inevitable attack.

You exit the Citadel of the Weary Sky via the secret tunnel at the pinnacle of the keep (Skyrim style). Amenopheus is nowhere to been seen up here either, though.
Once back in Manaket, Venture-Captain Obo thanks you for your efforts in eliminating the dangers at the newly discovered Citadel and assures you that further delves will be conducted to plumb further resources from beneath the sands. He sends word to the Decemvirate about the Ring of the Weary Sky, and seems most impressed with this aspect of your discovery.
A few days later, you are contacted by the surviving members of he mercenary crew you saved in the Citadel, and they offer to repay you for their respectful treatment and rescue. (In the form of favors I presume, as it's the secondary succes condition)
At that was The Heresy of Man series! I'll make the chronicle sheets later today, but if you haven't posted your info for part 3 yet, then go ahead and do it in the discussion thread.

Xarkyn looks over Deaglans shoulder as he inspects the ring...
Spellcraft Identify: 1d20 + 15 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 15 + 2 = 18 "You could be right. It could be the ring. Lets take it back to someone else in the society who may know better." she says when she also fails to see if it is indeed the heirloom in question.

Unable to assist in the ring's identification either, Lysaer heads through the passage with a grimace everytime his armour scrapes against rock. Resigned to an age polishing the Adamantine suit after this excursion, the Hellknight is glad they made it out alive. Though the matter of the Sapphire sage's disappearance annoyed him without a conclusion to the mystery. Returning anyway, Lysaer sees that the ring is given over and nods.
"Yes, the place was infested with A cult to Ahrimahn, though it troubles me that Amenopheus apparently went to investigate the place with hired guarss instead of agents. The guards were to protect against 'false pathfinders' which may have been the Shadow Lodge members you mentioned."
