Castien Galondiir
|
Castien, seeing Aspex's plan shaping up, walks forward and, with a touch, enhances her intellect.
Not an action: 5' step as indicated on map
Standard action: Augment Aspex's Int by +2 for 1 round (Enhancement school power, 5/6 uses remaining)
GM Lithrac
|
The goblin who lit the beacon now shoots a crossbow at Xoricon before retreating behind the cover of the battlement.
Crossbow: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 91d6 ⇒ 1
His last underling also shoots at the same target.
Shortbow: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 61d4 ⇒ 3
Both missiles fall short of the brave bard.
Initiative - round 2
>>>Group 1 (Xoricon, Castien)
Icetooth Goblins
>>>Group 2 (Cha-Ka, Mary, Aspex, Ardisen)
Everyone may act!
Mary Dontingham
|
Mary continues to push forward another 20', and unleashes another shot at the goblin in the tower. Little green bugger hiding in tower!
Arrow shot with cover penalty of -4: 1d20 + 3 - 4 ⇒ (16) + 3 - 4 = 15
Damage if hit: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10
Castien Galondiir
|
Assuming that Aspex's sleep spell doesn't end combat...
Castien fires another two arrows at the goblins in the southern tower.
Full-round action: Fire at goblins (rapid shot)
Attack (Composite Longbow (+2 Str), Rapid Shot): 1d20 + 6 - 2 ⇒ (8) + 6 - 2 = 12
Damage (Composite Longbow (+2 Str)): 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8
Attack (Composite Longbow (+2 Str), Rapid Shot): 1d20 + 6 - 2 ⇒ (16) + 6 - 2 = 20
Damage (Composite Longbow (+2 Str)): 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6

Assuming that Aspex's sleep spell doesn't end combat...
Oops, thanks for reminding me!
Will: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (14) - 1 = 13Will: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4
Both goblins fall asleep!
Remaining in initiative order, though. Those who acted this round may take a different action of course.
Cha-Ka Ra
|
Did she actually use the sleep scroll? Last round I think she just pulled it out. If she did, then Cha-Ka will try to give his water bottle to Castien.
"Castien, you will undoubtedly be faster than me. I'll stay here and guard our goblin companions." Cha-Ka holds his water bottle out to the elf.
Move action and then move-equivalent to hand the waterskin over.
Aspex
|
Aspex nods at Castien and reads the spell off the scroll in rapid, precise cadence that speaks of years of practice.
Use 1 Sleep scroll on remaining goblins.
GM Lithrac
|
Actually, a scroll of sleep has a DC of 11, no matter the intelligence of the caster. Thus the goblin hencheman is still up and running. Castien then wounds it with his arrow. I really need sleep, and Castien confused me twice, including with his intelligence boost on Aspex, that has virtually no effect on this fight. Got a scroll? ;)
Aspex draws a scroll, then seconds later the spell goes off. Xoricon, blessed by Desna, dances around the falling arrows when the goblin crossbowman falls asleep. His last hencheman resists Aspex's infernal magic and shoots a last arrow at Xoricon, but to no avail. The goblin then falls unconscious, overcome by his wound.
Shortbow: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 121d4 ⇒ 3
Round 3 - party's up
Xoricon Quickblade
|
Xoricon continues to close the gap to the tower, waiting for the tell-tale whoosh of arrows before he sprints to the stairs.
This time Xori will run all the way to the stairway of the tower, but will wait for Castien to shoot first before running. I think he can get there in 90' of running.
When I think of running bards, I can only hear the 'Brave Sir Robin' song...
Mary Dontingham
|
Mary moves again another 20' and shoots another arrow.
Arrow shot with -4 cover penalty: 1d20 + 3 - 4 ⇒ (5) + 3 - 4 = 4
Damage if hit: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6
Xoricon Quickblade
|
Say, you're right--Castien already knocked out the last goblin. We didn't get the sign that combat is over, though. With that in mind, I don't know how far Xoricon can run up the stairs, but he'll take a moment for a Perception roll to make sure he doesn't run straight into a leg trap or something. ...combat clock could still be running just for the signal fire, so we'll see.
Castien Galondiir
|
Okay, sorry to have confused things - I didn't realize about the DC issue with scrolls...
Castien, seeing the last goblin fall, breaks into a run for the tower.
Full-round action: Run (x4, if possible) for the tower
Ardisen Greymore
|
Allowing his allies to handle the situation, Ardisen hangs back with the Frostfur Goblins, ensuring none disobey the instructions or run off.
Stay with the Frostfurs and full defensive.
Cha-Ka Ra
|
Cha-Ka, knowing that his heavy armor would prevent him from reaching the tower anytime soon, continues to stand next to the goblins, trying to keep an eye out for any unwanted attention due to the smoke signal.
"I think we should start herding our wards forward. If some of those goblins' buddies show up, it would be better to be close to the towers where we can take cover from projective weapons."
Unless someone objects, he's going to try to start ushering the goblins forward.
Aspex
|
Aspex nods at Cha-Ka and barks at the Frostfurs in Goblin. "Move, you useless little beasts! Follow the others into that tower!"
Ardisen Greymore
|
Do you run so that you can talk at any time in combat? If so, Ardisen will say the following.
Ardisen smiles at Cha-Ka's request, chuckling at the goblins protest as Aspex yells at them in a tongue he does not understand.
"Carrot before the stick, remember? Cha Ka, if you feel that is best, move forward and I shall muster the goblins to follow."
Aspex
|
Aspex glowers at the Frostfur goblins and spins away from them to stalk toward the southern tower.
Double move action. I moved her token on the map.
GM Lithrac
|
A commanding look from Cha-Ka makes the Frostfur goblins Oooh and Aaahh in admiration, and follow the tengu in a strange, inordinate procession.
"If boss want it, we follow strange squawk-man! But boss must know, we be not Birdcrunchers, we be Frostfur! Dem Birdcrunchers live in Vuh-rissi-ah, dem have strange trials to join tribe, we heard."

>>>Cha-Ka

>>>Aspex
>>>Ardisen
Everyone can act!
Ardisen Greymore
|
Seeing the goblins move forward, Ardisen moves along with them, keeping pace with the group.
"Stick together Frostfurs."
Double move for me.
Xoricon Quickblade
|
"It's barred shut," says Xoricon, "Does anyone have a magical means of opening this or getting to the top?"
Mary, you aren't adjacent yet, are you? I think I have to wait another round for a combined door Str check.
Castien Galondiir
|
Castien thinks through his spells. "I could enlarge Cha-Ka, so that he could bash down the door, if that's our only option."
Castien Galondiir
|
How tall is the tower?
Castien nods to Cha-Ka, and begins attempting to bash down the door as the tengu readies his grappling hook and rope.
Strength: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 2 = 18
GM Lithrac
|
The door easily breaks with the joint effort of Castien and Xoricon. Both Pathfinders are a bit surprised by how easy it gave in, but once they're inside they realize why: the door and the bars inside are of goblin craftsmanship, and thus hardly resilient.
The team is able to climb a ladder upstairs and manage to douse the beacon fire with Cha-Ka's waterskin. The last goblin is quickly dealt with, and the strange caravan can soon resume its journey in the icy Irrisen.
With the rough hills at now far to the north, the land opens into a broad grassland where the snow is much sparser. The sky is overcast and the temperature has risen, making the march south somewhat easier. For as far as the eye can see, there is nothing but open ground and great fir trees that dot the landscape.
Survival checks, please.
Cha-Ka Ra
|
Survival: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9 +6 instead of +5 if it's tracking
Cha-Ka looks at the potion. Then his face lights up as if remembering something. "By the by, does anybody know how to use this? If so, it might be better if someone else held on to it." He pulls out a small stick to show everyone. It's a wand of CLW
