“Janira!” Caena watches in shock as the halfling woman falls to the ground. Were we too late, after all that time?

She rushes up to the edge of the fallen log, but pauses at the sight of its slippery surface. Would it be better to lure it to this side maybe? She brandishes her scimitar at the minotaur and shouts, “Leave her alone and come fight us, you cowardly creature!”

Seeing the danger, Fiata sprints toward the melee!

An EXCITING Double Move!!

Davneiros and Meletus both connect with their arrows, wounding the creature. The minotaur bellows and rushes toward you, wading through the rushing river.

Initiative:

Even bigger up close, Meletus thinks but stands firm. She fires another accurate shot, looking for chinks in its armor to exploit if necessary.

"Assama Kal Tan!" Bahen says as he steps back, his mouth and tongue moving without seeming his own consent.

The Minotaur needs to make a DC 15 Will save against Cause Fear. Failed save: The affected creature becomes frightened. If the subject succeeds on a Will save, it is shaken for 1 round. Creatures with 6 or more HD are immune to this effect.

Fear duration: 1d4 ⇒ 2

Davneiros tries to put another arrow into the Minotaur.

Meletus and Davneiros hit the creature again, their arrows lodging themselves in the bloodied minotaur. Bahen channels the horrors of hell, trying to drive off the foul beast, but his spell has no effect.

Vladamir, Fiata, and Caena may act.

Fiata focuses arcane energy into her blade as she steps up to strike the monster.

Swift action to use Arcane Pool and give my weapon a +1 Enhancement bonus for 1 minute.

Critical Confirm?: 1d20 + 4 + 1 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 4 + 1 + 1 + 1 = 12 Drat! No confirmation on the crit.

Caena feels a moment of trepidation when the minotaur rushes right up to her, but seeing her allies making solid hits on it, she recovers and lifts her weapon to attack.

Scimitar: 1d20 + 5 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (9) + 5 + 1 + 1 = 16
Damage: 1d6 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 3 + 1 = 5

"Time for you to die, foul beast!

Vladimir casts Magic Missile again.

Force damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5

Fiata enchants her weapon, then strikes in coordination with Caena and Vladamir, bringing down the monstrous creature! Out of combat.

When you carefully cross the stream and reach Janira, you find her unconscious but alive. She actually went down to the one point of nonlethal she started with.

Assuming someone healed Janira with her wand:

Janira grunts and winces as she stands. "Thanks, Pathfinders! I thought I was a goner for sure, until you all showed up. Is anyone else hurt? What did you find in the cave?"

We found carvings about Aroden.

And that gillman we followed was a nice man who was bathed in holy water.

"We even returned a valuable heirloom to his people. A cloak that was powerfully enchanted!"

Looking at her 'Confirmation-mates', "I think we all accounted for ourselves very well this day. I am proud to have had the opportunity to work with you all."

"We discovered that the gillmen venerate Aroden to some extent, and that their rituals occur on the full moon, at which point they come to pay their respects."

"Indeed, we upheld the three tenets of the Society," Meletus smiles. "As a team, we banded together and removed all obstacles in our path."

"Your experiences sound fascinating. Make sure you record everything so you can write up your report when we get back to Absalom."

After an uneventful journey back, you're greeted by an enthusiastic Kreighton Shaine."Oh my, that's wonderful! I'm glad to see you all back in one piece, though from what Janira has told me, that was a near thing. Wonderful job guiding and protecting them, Janira! I knew I could count on you."

Shaine spends some time reading over your notes, pausing to ask questions and to theorize on the meaning and history of the things you've found.

"Well done recording your experiences while fresh in your mind. It’s difficult enough to remember what one had for breakfast the day before, let alone to recall exactly what one was thinking while reading an inscription. Make sure to write up your report thoroughly. After all, at this moment you are the world's foremost authority on those caves. It's only fitting, then, that you should name them! So, what shall we call the place?"

Three days later, the three deans of the Society, Master Shaine, Master Zey Westyr, and Master Farabellus confirm you as full Pathfinder field agents. As part of the ceremony, they give each of you a personalized wayfinder, to remind you that this is not only the symbol of the Pathfinder’s trade but also a reminder of the three principle duties: explore, report, and cooperate.

If you have already received a free wayfinder on another character, you may spend one prestige point to get one for this character, too (or you can buy one for 250gp).

"A feather in the caps of our budding careers, for certain," Meletus once again cracks a rare smile as she admires her new wayfinder. "I swear to work by these ideals and do my best to further our causes. A venture I hope we can assist each other in-" she adds, looking to her fellow graduates, "-in further missions. Until then, may your endeavors always find favor."

Davneiros looked at the team: "Thanks to you!"

Caena ponders names for the cave system. "Something about water, or moonlight... The Moonlit Caves? Is that too boring? I don't think I have much of a naming sense."

After the confirmation ceremony, she admires her shiny new wayfinder with a wry grin, thinking of how easily she got sidetracked during their journey. "I suppose we proved that I need one of these. It will be an honor to publicly represent the Pathfinder Society!"

She heartily thanks her fellow newly-inducted Pathfinders, relieved that they have all made it back safely.
