The wizard sees Ulli blocking his path from the privy. He speaks sharply and raises his hand. Ulli make a Fortitude save. He then manages to slip past Ulli and move toward the center of the room. To P7 - he rolled a natural 20 on his Acrobatics check to move through Ulli's square!

The goons move toward the guards and whack them with their saps. One of the guards drops to the floor unconscious the one at L8.

Uzès looks across the Golem table at Kelne. "Sounds like trouble out there. While I hate to leave our game, we might want to check it out specially if someone is trying to stop the tournament. I'm Uhz by the way." He then stands up and gathers his coins before moving to the door to peek out.

Dwarven Druid 1

The wizard spots the eyepatch lady and moves a bit closer. Then he prepares to thump her with his telekinetic fist when and if she tries anything dangerous, like a spell or attack.

DM

Spoiler:
Rimrock just to speed things up ranged touch attack=21, Fist damage 3pts.
p.s. it was shield and not mage armour. Mea culpa. Sorry.

female Elf Paladin 2

Tessirda of course had no intention to stay down. No use wasting a perfectly good challenge on standing down at the first sign of trouble, after all. "So, boys. I guess you've got this whole thing figured out - but tell me, who's the first to get some blood drawn, hmm? How much of the take's that worth to you?"

Can't seem to get through to IC right now. Roll an intimidate for me, will you?

The eyepatch lady moves toward the center of the room, next to Tessirda, and starts moving her hands like she's casting a spell. Her head snaps back like she is hit by an invisible force Sorda's telekienetic fist.

Tessirda's Intimidate (1d20+2=3)

Terra, you can roll real dice if you'd like. You can also make an attack of opportunity .

Male Human (Varisian) Bard 1

Sorry, got lost about where Initiative was at

Zavos takes cover from the wizard behind a nearby pillar G6, and casts Hideous Laughter on the nearest goon L7 (Will DC 14, 1 round).

"KELNE!! THE LADY NEEDS HELP OUT HERE!!"

Male Human Fighter 8, Ranger 3

"The name's Kelne," Kelne says simply, making straight for the door rather than bothering with the few chips he currently had on the table. While he might have been gradually losing, he'd just been getting into the spirit of the evening. Now, of course, it's all shot.

Pulling his sword, he steps past the protection of the doorway, his gaze sweeping across the room in search of the culprits. It shouldn't take him long to decide where to put his sword to best use. As it turns out, he almost runs right into one of the goons, caught in the act of attacking a bouncer.

It's difficult to say who is more surprised by this encounter, but Kelne certainly recovers himself quickly enough to take a swipe at the man. Attack: (1d20+4=14), damage: (1d8+3=5)

Drawing the sword as part of a move action to G17 and attacking. It should be noted that, since Kelne neglected to bring his shield to the tournament, he is 2 points down on the AC listed on his sheet.

edit: Oh yes, there should be an extra +2 bonus for flanking in there, I believe.

Female Human (Osiriani - Garundi) Cleric 2

Still blinded by the flash, Amunyet cannot determine where anyone is to really take any action at the moment. She will try and see if there is anything she can do to make the blindness go away.

Not sure if Heal will help, but I'll give it a roll (with a -2 for no kit)

heal (1d20+1=5)

IC is really killing me today ...

Uzes gathers up his coins and peeks out of the card room to see what's going on.

Zavos moves behind a nearby pillar and casts a spell at one of the goons, who doesn't seem to be affected much.

Kelne runs out of the card room and slashes one of the goons in the back with his longsword. Moved to H17 to flank, and you get an extra +1 to attack for being blessed.

Amyunet tries to clear the spots from her eyes, to no avail.

Round 1:
Wizard: 26 moved to P7
Goons: 23 attacked guards
Sorda: 23 Moved to I13, cast telekinetic fist
Eyepatch Lady: 20 Moved to M13 cast a spell, hit by Sorda's telekinetic fist

Amyunet: 8 blinded, Tried to clear vision
Zindit: 7 blinded, prone
Guards: 3

Ulli and Zindit are up

Female Gnome Rogue 1

Zindit struggled to her feet, her right hand still over her eye. She made out the sound of fighting through the haze of her initial panic.

Perception: 8

She tried to listen for Sorda or Ulli's voice, and unsteadily started towards what she thought was the closest of them, her left hand held out before her.

Sorry for the delay, Thanksgiving preparations took over life for a while. :)

Zindit wrote:

I hear ya. I figured things would be slow due to the holiday. I hope everyone (or everyone who is American) had a good Thanksgiving.

I guess I'll DMPC Ulli this round. Ulli's Fort Save (1d20+5=8), Grapple attempt(1d20+4=19)

A burst of light flashes in Ulli's face, dazzling him. He then runs after the fleeing wizard and grabs him.

Zindit gets to her feet and blindly starts to move forward with her hands out in front of her.

The remaining guards draw their swords and start to fight back against the goons. The goon Kelne is facing goes down after being stabbed by Kelne and the guard on the other side of him.

A ghostly hand appears in the air next to the wizard and Ulli. It draws a sickle out of the wizard's belt and hits Ulli with it doing 5 points damage.

The goon closest to Ulli at l7, having dropped the guard he was facing, moves over next to where Ulli is grappling the wizard and tries to whack Ulli with a sap, a glancing blow that does no damage. Two other goons at J12 and N15, badly wounded by the guards, back away from the combat.

The lady with the eyepatch grunts as she is hit, and turns and says to Tessirda: "Boys? I'm no boy!". She then backs up to M14 and casts a spell at Tessirda. Tessirda, make a Will save please.

Amyunet and Zindit are still blinded

Round 2:
Wizard: grappled by Ulli
Goons: 23 acted
Eyepatch Lady: 20, cast spell at Tessirda

Zavos: 19
Uzes: 16+
Kelne: 16-
Ulli: 15+ dazzled, grappling wizard
Tessirda: 15-
Amyunet: 8 still blinded

Round 2 Map

Dwarven Druid 1

Sorda spends a move collecting his chips from the table. If a few more happen to fall into his pocket so be it.

"Oops!"

All the time he keeps his eye on Miss Eyepatch and summons the same energy. An invisible karate chop waits over the back of her neck.

Ranged touch attack 11+3=14, Damage 3pts

Male Human (Varisian) Bard 1

Zavos is so impressed with the resistance against the thieves that he moves onto the central platform L9 and begins singing "The Saga of the Siege of Sandpoint". All of those defending the Gaming Hall find their spirits uplifted.

Female Human (Osiriani - Garundi) Cleric 2

Amunyet tries yet again to clear her eyesight. Heal to clear eyes (-2 due to no kit) (1d20+1=12)

female Elf Paladin 2

Tessirda looked the woman over, and shook her head. Yet the thrill of battle had made her less steely in her resolve than she might otherwise have been: will save is just 8

Male Human Fighter 8, Ranger 3

Pressing his advantage, Kelne continues to advance on the goons, with a shout of "Rush them!" He punctuates this by slicing one of them open with his sword. Attack: (1d20+5=21), Damage: (1d8+3=9)

Moving to K16 and attacking.

Female Gnome Rogue 1

Zindit was beginning to panic. She still couldn't see. Oh no I lost the other one I lost the other one no no no no! She cried out for Sorda and Ulli, stumbling in the direction of their voices as best as she make them out.

Perception: 25!

Hearing the sound of fighting continue, she pulled her knife out and held it close to her body as she continued searching with her outstretched left hand.

Male Human (Varisian) Bard 1

In case it was not obvious, Zavos is Inspiring Courage: everyone has +1 Morale bonus on Will saves vs charm and fear effects, and a +1 Morale bonus on attack and weapon damage rolls. Just making sure everyone had taken that into account. Specifically Tessirda and Kelne.

I figured as much. Kelne actually did 10 damage and Tessirda still failed her Will save.

Also, since they are both morale bonuses, the bonuses to attack rolls and Will saves from Zavos' inspire courage and Amunyet's bless don't stack. So everyone now has a +1 bonus to attack rolls, damage rolls and Will saves against fear and charm effects, even Ulli and Zindit, who were out of range of the bless.

Dwarven Druid 1

Sorda's attack and damage go up by one then, since they are part of a ready action on the eyepatch lady's next go.

You know what, I think I screwed up again on the initiative order. Since Sorda's Standard action last round was a readied action, his initiative count should be just before the eyepatch lady's, not just after, and his second readied telekinetic fist comes this round, not next. So Sorda's damage for this round is correct for this round, and next round he gets the damage bonus, since Zavos' acts after him.

Sorda hits the eyepatch lady with another invisible fist just as she is trying to cast a spell at Tessrida, disrupting it.

Zavos begins to sing at the top of his lungs, his fine voice rising above the screams of the blinded and the sounds of the fighting. This inspires courage to all his allies that can hear him.

Tessirda did not need to make a will save. Tessirda can change her action for this round if she wants.

Round 2:
Wizard: grappled by Ulli
Goons: 23 acted
Sorda: 20- telekinetic fist
Eyepatch Lady: 20, cast spell at Tessirda (disrupted)
Zavos: 19, singing inspire courage
Uzes: 16+
Kelne: 16-
Ulli: 15+ dazzled, grappling wizard
Tessirda: 15-
Amyunet: 8,s
Zindit: 7 still blinded
Guards: 3

Male Human (Varisian) Bard 1

Sorry, could you please clarify who still has to act? I believe that Kelne, Amunyet and Zindit posted, that Tessirda posted but can change her action, and that we need actions from Ulli and Uzes. Is that right? Still new to all of this.

Correct, still waiting for Ulii and Uzes. I will update by tonight if we don't hear from them. I'm new at this too :)

Male Human Fighter 8, Ranger 3

Just a quick note that I'll be out of town for the next couple of days. I'm fairly sure that Kelne's actions of hit-people-with-sword can be adequately simulated in my absense.

female Elf Paladin 2

Tessirda kept close to the woman, and tried to drive her before herself. She wasn't quite as brutal as she might have liked Attack rolls: 6 and 16 with 11 damage but her second strike was close to home. She hesitated a moment after she assumed to have seriously wounded the woman. "Give it up now. Might even make it some years labor rather than hanging."

All hell has broken loose in the Gold Goblin. Those patrons that can see are now fleeing the violence, running towards the door in a mad rush to get out. Of those that were blinded, a few are now regaining their vision. The area just inside the main entrance is now very crowded with people pushing and shoving to get through the door.

Uzes continues to watch the action unfold through the card room door.

Kelne moves to attack another one of the goons, hitting him with a vicious slash with his longsword across the side. The goon falls to the floor, dying.

Ulli releases his hold on the wizard and turns to defend himself against the goon attacking him. He draws his greataxe and takes a wild swing (1d20+5=8)

Tessirda slashes the eyepatch lady with her wicked curved sword. The poor woman screams "Angvar!" and drops to the floor.

Amunet keeps trying to clear her vision, and now the bright spots that impede her vision are fading. Amyunet can see next round.

Zindit stumbles blindly in the direction of Ulli's voice. Ending up in Q7 next to Ulli

The guards who are able to are still fighting goons. One of them moves over to one of the retreating goons and hits him in the back with his shortsword, dropping him (the one at k14).

The wizard runs to where the eyepatch lady has fallen. "Please," he says to Tessirda "I give up." He kneels down "Thuvalia, no...!"

The remaining goons, seeing that the raid has failed utterly, drop their weapons and try to flee for the door. Two are at the door and one is too badly wounded to get far.

I don't think we need initiative any more.

Map

Female Gnome Rogue 1

Zindit grasped in Ulli's direction, yelling in a panic, "What's happening! I can't see!"

Male Human (Varisian) Bard 1

Zavos makes sure that the nearby guard will recover, then goes over to save the dying woman with a spell (Cure Light, assuming the guard is ok, and she can be saved).

"We'll want to be able to question them. Perhaps someone could look after the other wounded?"

Female Human (Osiriani - Garundi) Cleric 2

As her eyes clear, Amunyet notices the carnage, and several of those lying unconscious in pools of blood. She grasps her holy symbol and unleashes a burst of positive energy, in the hopes of saving those who have fallen.

"Disarm the thieves!" she yells to the others, hoping to keep the fighting from re-starting.

Channel energy, making sure to include the woman with the eyepatch and as many others as I can fit within the burst. 1d6=3

female Elf Paladin 2

Tessirda put down her weapon, and tried to help the wounded woman as best she could. When she said she did not feel anyone needed to die over this, this had been true. Amazingly true, in fact. "She's bleeding badly. We need a healer here, fast!"

She knew she would probably get in the way of the man, who probably was friends with the lady, at least. She stood close however, just in case the healer needed space, and the man would be blinded by grief.

Dwarven Druid 1

Sorda finishes collecting enough chips to cover his entrance (and Zindit's). Then he moves up to the man and his woman.

"I'm afraid you will have to give all that dangerous magical equipment up. Your thieving days are over."

"Did I hear that your name is Angamer and her's is Thavulis?"

Ulli grabs Zindit and tries to explain the situation to her.

Zavos checks the knocked out guard, sees that he is just knocked out and not bleeding, then heals the woman with the eye patch. Amyunet climbs up on the platform next to the chest and channels. The woman is stable, but still unconscious and Ulli is healed 3 points.

Sorda grabs some chips from the unattended bounder table (the dealer having fled towards the door) and approaches the wizard. You pick up 14 silver teeth and 2 gold eyes

Sorda wrote:

"Did I hear that your name is Angamer and her's is Thavulis?"

“Yes,” the wizard replies, “I am Angvar and she is Thuvalia. Of course, we surrender completely." He looks up at Tessirda "Thank you for your mercy.”

Two of the goons make it out of the Gold Goblin and vanish into the darkness. A third drops his sap and raises his hands in the air “Don’t cut me! I give up!” he says to the guard threatening him with a word. “Get down on your knees, b+#$&!” the guard tells him and the goon complies. The other three goons are still unconscious.

The unconscious guard woozily gets to his feet after Amyunet’s surge of positive energy. “Whaa..”

Zelne starts looting the downed goons.

Now that the fight is over the mad rush for the exit has stopped and most of the patrons are starting to get their wits about them. You begin to hear some of them grumble about the unexpected end to the gambling tournament and if they are going to be able to cash in the chips they still have. Some of the more alert ones begin to grab chips off some of the unattended tables, and pick up chips that fell on the floor during the scuffle. The dealers and waitresses mill about aimlessly, while a couple of the guards begin to make a half-hearted effort to stop the looting of loose chips.

Male Human (Varisian) Bard 1

Zavos grins at Tessirda and says "Not the type of sweaty exertion that I was planning on tonight."

Then he returns to the Bounder table and waits for the croupier to come back.

Female Human (Osiriani - Garundi) Cleric 2

Disliking the disruption to the previously enjoyable evening, Amunyet approaches the wizard and unconscious woman. She will do a quick inspection to see that the woman will not die, then addresses Angvar. "What were you hoping to accomplish here? Were a few gold pieces worth risking your lives for?"

If no one else suggests it, she also says, "Someone should bind the hands of this man. And perhaps add a gag once we're done questioning him. He is a spellcaster, after all."

female Elf Paladin 2

"Oh, I'd think a lot of people thought this night would end entirely differently" Tessirda replied, as she helped take care of the wounded lady. They might be in deep trouble, but they had more of a shot now than in battle.

"I think binding their hands is enough... if he starts chanting we can still stop him" She replied to Amunyets suggestion. "At least, i heard a mage needs free hands to use magic." Her eyes followed Zavos, though. He was quite eager, it seemed. Even now that some of the other players clamored to have their money back and others began to shamelessly loot the available chips, he still wanted to go on.

Uzès steps out of the back room and starts helping with the clean up. He offers to bind the wizard and will indeed gag him as suggested. He introduces himself to the assembled heroes of the night, "Nicely done, you've handled these ingrates well. I'm Uzès. Wish I could've been of more help back there."

Sorry for the absence, I'm back now. Don't know how easy it'll be for my half-orc to wheel his way into the party when he didn't help at all in the fight.

Male Human (Varisian) Bard 1
Uzès Voiron wrote:

Eh...You were just as much help as I was :-)

After Amyunet and Tessirda speak, Angvar replies "We were hired to do this job. We were supposed to steal the chest and deliver it later tonight. Please, there is no need to bind or gag me, I am not going to try anything."

The croupier does not return to the table Zavos sits down at, but one of the guards is keeping an eye on him.

Zindit's vision has cleared up.

female Elf Paladin 2

Tessirda raised her eyebrows, and seemed quite puzzled. The job seemed quite profitable. Someone hiring two agents to do it, but not actually taking part themselves was strange. "Where were you to meet this contact of yours? And when exactly?"

With a little luck, this mysterious employer had not yet heard of the failure of the coup. Not too likely, though. If she was that employer, she'd have attended the tournament, and kept an eye on things. That was if there was any employer, of course. They might just try to shift some of the blame around.

Female Human (Osiriani - Garundi) Cleric 2

"And who hired you to do this?" Amunyet asks. She turns to Tessirda and says, "I find it odd that whoever would do this wouldn't have sent a stronger group. They should know there would be guards, not to mention a significant number of contestants who might not be eager to see their winnings stolen away."

Male Human Fighter 8, Ranger 3

While Kelne is happy to listen in on the questioning, he's looking for clues of his own in amongst the goons' looted possessions. These possessions are being systematically piled onto one of the free tables. Naturally, he's making sure that each of the goons is well secured, or at least guarded as he goes about his business.

Uzes continues with his binding of the wizards hands, though he leaves the gag off to allow for the finishing of questions.

Dwarven Druid 1

Once bound, Sorda puts the belongings of the two leaders on the table to assess their value and usage.

He pays little or no attention to the questioning.

"Are either of you Cyphers?"

Male Human (Varisian) Bard 1

Zavos sighs and approaches the nearby guard.

"Perhaps someone should summon the owner. I would really like to get back to the tournament."

"Oh... and he may want to get some information from these thieves, or supply information to these people who saved his gold."

Female Gnome Rogue 1

Zindit shook her head, blinking away the rest of the spots in her vision. Still breathing heavily, she quietly moved over to Sorda to get a closer look at those responsible for the disturbance. She made an effort to keep Sorda between herself and Tessirda, not worrying so much about being in Amunyet's sight.

"Are the games over then?" she asked Sorda. She hoped that meant Old Scratch would be denied his share if the contest was cancelled.

Tessirda wrote:

"We were supposed to meet him at the docks, at 2."

Amyunet wrote:
"And who hired you to do this?"

"He never told us his name, and we did not ask. In this business it is better not to know."

Sorda wrote:
"Are either of you Cyphers?"

"No."

Kelne continues to loot the unconscious goons and Sorda removes the belongings from the two prisoners.

Spoiler:
Loot from the goons:
24 gold eyes
23 silver teeth
4 rapiers
4 saps
16 daggers

Thuvalia's possesions:
very well-made leather armor
rapier
light crossbow with 10 bolts
15 gold eyes, 20 silver teeth

Angvar's possesions:
sickle
bracers
wand
scroll
30 gold eyes, 30 silver teeth

Just after the questioning of Angvar, Saul Vancaskerkin bursts into the room from one of the back doors, followed by a dwarf dressed fine silks. You might recognize the dwarf from the tournament earlier; he appeared to be some sort of floor manager.

"Sweet Calistria, what a mess!"

Saul climbs up on the platform and addresses the crowd of patrons still there. Many of them begin to grumble and holler about the tournament and their chips.

"Please, please everyone, let me speak!" the noise dies down a little. "Unfortunately, as should be obvious to everyone here, the gambling tournament is cancelled!" Again, there are grumbles and hollers from the crowd, and Saul raises his hand. "I am sorry about what happened here tonight, and I hope no innocent bystanders were injured. Even though it was no fault of mine, I will take full responsibility. But the good news is I am willing to refund all of your chips at 110 percent of their face value. You won't get a better deal than that."

There is still some grumbling, but the customers begin to line up at the cashier's cage.

"Where are the gendarmes?" Saul turns to one of the guards. "Go outside and see if you can find some."

"Do it yerself," The guard says, "I quit. You don't pay me enough to get whacked on by thieves." He walks out and the rest of the guards follow, along with most of the waitresses and dealers.

"They were worthless curs anyways, Saul." the well-dressed dwarf tells him after his former employees leave.

Saul turns to the group that has gathered around Angvar and Thuvalia. Next to them, Kelne has placed the three unconscious goons, and the one who was still standing, now bound.

"Many thanks for stepping up and defending my place of business" he says to you. "Are these the perpetrators?" he asks.
