Luralee Worgbear |
Luralee grunts and moves back to the barricade and starts tearing it down.
"They know we coming" she mutters to the others.
DM PatheticWretch |
The Pathfinders tear down enough of their barricade to pass and work their way up the dark inner staircase of the tower. At the end is a closed door.
Please place your tokens on the bottom right part of the map (there's a tower stairway there). Put in your marching order and let me know if there are any other preparations you want to make.
Luralee Worgbear |
Luralee initiates her aspect of the Bull to increase her strength for the coming fight. +2 to STR for 1 min
Ilarien |
This is single file up the stairs, right?
Ilarien makes sure her crossbow is loaded and follows behind Anya. "Duck if I give you the word, all right? There's at least one of the rateaters up there, and I'm not that good at shooting past people."
Davorin Tallon |
"Let's finish this."
I'm good to go.
Gneau Effingway |
Gneau will try to slip into the lineup somewhere in the middle, though if he slows folks down too much (speed 20), he won't object to being passed up. Just won't forgive being passed over, lol.
Ilarien |
"I don't think there's anything left behind us, so we won't need that much of a rearguard. Davorin, you, 'Lee, and Sara should go in front, since you can move faster'n me or the gnome. If you can get through the door, don't stop--if we get pinned in place, whoever's up there can take us one at a time."
Luralee Worgbear |
"Need iron bar...pass it up to open door" Luralee says to the others.
Assuming they pass it up to her she will use it to pry open the door...

DM PatheticWretch |
With the door pried off one hinge, the group decides what to do next.
You can move through the doorway, though it is still shut.
We're in initiative.

This strange chamber pulses with the green glow of the column of glass-like crystal that forms the core of the tower. The walls of the room are damaged, and the roof is cracked. The spire in the center juts up, just peaking above the crude ceiling. A bed and a side table sit in the northern half of the room, and archery targets line the southern section of wall.
Luralee pushes the door open and enters, but apparently the two creatures inside were not quite prepared to hit her.
An arrow strikes the door post to her left, and a goblin lunges in fanatically to attack.
Another creature, not a goblin, lurks in the corner. This ugly creature resembles a twisted shadow puppet’s silhouette, a wild thing of flared black and brown fur whose pelt juts out from its body at freakish angles. The crouching shadow’s ears are large and floppy, draping shoulder-length, adding to the creature’s unnatural shape. Its eyes are too big for its head. Tremendous milk-white ovals loom on either side of the thing’s wheezy pig-like nose. Its panting mouth is filled with bristly needle-teeth spiderwebbed in disgusting strands of yellowish saliva, all vibrating to the tune of its wheezing breath.

Gneau moves forward and casts Bane on the fellow with the bow. will dc 14 resists
DM PatheticWretch |
Sara sweeps into the room and decapitates the lone goblin, leaving only the other creature.

Ilarien and Anya races up the stairs.
The large goblinoid sneers and fires an arrow toward Gneau, who is leading the charge into the room.
The missile strikes true, and Gneau looks in horror as it protrudes from his back. It is all he can do to remain on his feet. staggered

Gneau Effingway |
Gneau takes a step back and activates his healing judgment, fast healing 1. "By the blessing of Arshea, I shall survive to put an end to you!" He stands ready to resume his role as soon as he's no longer staggered. (ie next round, since it works at the beginning of his turn, i assume his first point will come next round)
Davorin Tallon |
Davorin keeps singing and rushes into the room only weave a joke so horrible into his performance, that the hulking brute feels personally assaulted.
Hideous Laughter on the bugbear.
DM PatheticWretch |
Luralee quickly rushes toward the bugbear. Her blow glances off the creature's armor, causing no harm.
Gneau calls upon his deity to close his wounds, and knows help is on the way. will gain 1 hp at start of your next round, as you said.
Sara also moves forward to engage the creature, though her caution keeps her from offering more than a probing strike.
Davorin tries a different tactic, casting a spell on the enemy to disable him. And it works! The creature loses all control, falling on the ground, laughing hysterically. That only worked because of your spell focus!

Ilarien |
Gneau, if this is still difficult terrain I don't think you can reach it and still attack.
Ilarien slogs forward again, drawing her axe as she closes.
Another double move, but at least I can attack next round.
DM PatheticWretch |
Davorin delivers a clean blow with his weapon, as does Luralee.
Gneau fires an arrow at the creature, but finds it a smaller target while prone. Based on your position on the map, it looks like you're firing an arrow? There doesn't seem to be any room around him to attack, so I'll guess so. Also, don't worry about difficult terrain in the tower...it's better up here.
Ilarien trudges forward, preparing to assist in the carnage.
Anya and Sara are less successful in their attacks.
Finally, the enemy overcomes the spell and finds itself surrounded by enemies.
"Yield! I yield!" he says as he drops his bow.

sorry - couldn't see map, didn't know I couldn't get to him...
Gneau moves closer to take a look at the surrendered fellow... keeping his weapon in hand in case it's a ruse.
+1 hp healed
Sara Laerdes |
Sara grimaces "Are we really going to accept his surrender? He wouldn't have done the same if our positions were reversed" She takes out some rope and begins tying the bugbears hands. "Still, if we have to do this, lets make sure it cant do any mischief"
After tying the bugbear up, Sara proceeds to thoroughly pat it down to make sure it doesn't have any hidden devices or tools
Luralee Worgbear |
Luralee keeps her scimitar levied against the bugbear as he is tied up in case he makes any sudden moves...
"is there anyone or anything else here... speak now..." she asks him.
Davorin Tallon |
"Well, I think that was it. Let's take this bugger and our loot and leave"
Ilarien |
"We can turn it over to the authorities in Fort Inevitable." The dwarf takes a minute to look at the glowing core of the tower. "That's odd. I wonder what it is?"
-Posted with Wayfinder
DM PatheticWretch |
The Pathfinders decide what to do with the bugbear, who does not seem to have any tricks up his sleeve. They take a small cache of treasure as payment for their trouble.
The bugbear makes report of a wizard infiltrating the levels below, which sounds like it is worth reporting to their superiors. With the bugbear leader surrendering and most of the goblins slain, the Pathfinders return to Fort Inevitable and make a report of their findings.
Well done! The last battle was anticlimactic on the other table, too. Bugbear was killed in one hit with a huge crit! That's pretty much it. I'll get chronicles done next week.
