So the Keleshite scourge has been driven out? the lich continues in Ancient Osirian. Who rules Osirion today? Do other sages than the diamond one still live?Who leads them?

![]() |

"The Ruby Prince does. Kehmet III is his name, and Osirion rises with each passing day under his guidance, though much remains to be done, by him and the order of the sage jewels, to rise to the prominent state it once peaked at. As for the order, the sapphire sage has recognized the authority of the diamond sage. They are working together to bring the missing jewels together and restore the library of knowledge in order to serve Osirion's best interests. If you will only speak with the diamond sage, she will be delighted to explain the state of affairs better than what I could ever hope to do, as I am no jewel bearer and couldn't possibly understand the full extent of the order's goals." the wizardess replies in Ancient Osiriani, weighing every word before uttering it.

DM Kludde |

Good. It is my duties to rejoin the other sages, then. I appreciate that I was not the only one to survive the Kelishite attacks. Together we shall accomplish great things.
He seems almost disappointed
Tell me one more thing, and I will allow you leave to ask your own questions, which you will no doubt have. My servants and close allies. Badru, Saruna. What of them?
In other words, if there is any question you have for the sage, you may ask it

"He seems a bit disappointed" Monty mutters quietly

Allowing Hagnar or Ouroboreia to translate, Kyra answers the sage, "Saruna is well, sir, if a little grumpy and nihilistic, though I have never known her to be otherwise." Hesitantly, she continues, "When I first met her, she was locked in an eternal conflict with Badru. There was a great evil in him, and we were forced to destroy him." As her last words are repeated in Ancient Osirion, Kyra watches the sage carefully to see his reaction.

Hagnar Grimstone |

Hagnar thinks back to when he first met Saruna and Badru, and his experience inside the extra-planar chamber. "You are the one I glimpsed those many months ago in the vision from the crystal beacon. I saw a faceless figure, and a flawless amethyst set in a strange device..." He looks about the area to see if the device is there.
Perception: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (15) + 16 = 31

DM Kludde |

You are correct. I am Sinuhotep, the bearer of the sage jewel. After I fled the Sanctum, I traveled to the south, looking for ways to protect my sage jewel. I found what I was looking for, but a powerful curse bound me to this place.
While you did glimpse the sage in your vision at the beacon, he was not the faceless figure you saw.

![]() |

"We had no choice concerning Badru, I'm afraid. Centuries of solitude warped his mind beyond recognition. As for Saruna, her words of wisdom are still well-appreciated within the ranks of the Jewel sages. Undoubtedly she will appreciate to see you join."
Ouroboreia pauses, as if searching for words, then asks her questions.
"What can you tell us of this place? We encountered a strange device capable of draining life - is that how you managed to escape the burden of the passing years? Alternatively, perhaps you have reached some kind of enlightenment while studying the jewel, allowing you the boon and bane of immortality?"
"Secondly, I would like to know if you have learned anything about other jewel sages? We used a potent divinatory device to glimpse upon their fate, but little was revealed, save for you. We saw a faceless figure, who obviously isn't you. Is there something we should be aware of?"
"I also would like to know about the curse you mention, iy you please."

DM Kludde |

When Osirion fell, many scattered before the satrapy reached us, and we spoke little of our destinations in order to protect each other should one of us fall into Kelishite hands. However, I know of several who hid within Osirion, for I was the last to leave our stronghold. A few dared flee farther, and at least one sought refuge with the scholars of Tar Taargadth. As one of the sages, I will help you find them..
But first, I shall answer about my own past. In this ancient place, I found the means to attain eternal life. I did not want the secrets of past ages to die with me, so I undertook the rites. I did what was necessary for survival—not for my own sake, but for the survival of the Jeweled Sages. The device was indeed instrumental in attaining this form.
I found evidence of a genie cult that resided here thousands of years before I arrived. It seems the genie’s name was Surma, and it her curse that keeps me here. Upon her death, she turned into a pitiful aghash div, but make no mistake: she is far more powerful than most of her kind.
Ever since I left my beloved Osirion, everything I have done has had a singular purpose: To recreate the order of the Jeweled Sages. What you have told me means that I can finally return home and rejoin the order. However, before I can leave, I need your help. As I mentioned, my immortality also carries a curse, and I cannot leave unless the hateful creature that put the curse on me is destroyed. The question is: Will you slay this creature for me, set me free, and support my endeavor to rejoin the Jeweled Sages?

He continues to try to read the lich sage intent.

Ceobryrn can read little in the sage's words. Hagnar has a basic understanding of what a div is, an evil outsider that only exists to destroy the beauty of the world. It does seem, however, that this Surma is hardly a average member of the outsider race.

DM Kludde |

I will guide her to us, the sage says. Sinuhotep steps through the door, visibly straining himself and soon falling to his knees. In great anguish, he yells You ugly old wretch, reveal yourself! A few seconds later later, a terrible faceless form appears atop the southern pillar with an air elemental that looks like a desert twister.

Combat over!
The dead div carried a vial of its own blood. The sage explains, Surma was a tainted creature, once beautiful and loved, then corrupted by her own vices. That vial must have served as a memento for who she once was.
Back in Katapesh, Tahonikepsu debriefs the Pathfinders: [b]“Pathfinders, thanks to your efforts, the amethyst sage jewel is now safe, and it fills my heart with joy to welcome Sinuhotep back to the order. I am eternally grateful to you, Pathfinders— you have made it possible for the Jeweled Sages to grow and prosper.”
Sinuhotep seems equally pleased to meet Tahonikepsu; he wears a faint but condident smile the entire time.
Saruma, however, flies into a rage upon seeing the sage. After a brief clash, she flees, vowing to exact revenge.
