The red one just tossed a book into the shelves north of the table (black dot). Neutralizing the fey seems the best bet.

Alessandra plays a discordant melody, evoking a pall of void energy that touches the red fey. Then she shifts to a quick tune that maintains a shield to protect her.

Achurius places a Forbidding Ward between Alessandra and yellow. With no fire to put out he readies an action to move toward a fire if one starts.

Achurius protects the bard then heads toward the wisps of smoke. As he does they flare up. Nicodemus notices that one of the books is mysteriously (mercifully?) moved away from him before igniting.

The stunned fey shakes his little head before disappearing for a moment to reappear right in front of the dwarf that dazed him. "Take this!"

Gwen huffs. As much damage as the coffin nails had done, twiggy hadn't seemed to mind the cold iron like she had thought. Any further consideration, though, was cut off when one of the other fey appeared before her. Gwen snarls and pulls the cold iron nails back towards her, ripping them right through the fey now in between. She tugs on her scarf again and it nearly comes off. You can see some deep scarring across her neck. The pale green shield snaps up again to ward her from the fey.

Mrs. Crinkle still can't find the rhythm of the fight, so Gwen and Nicodemus take up the cold iron slack. Alessandra ponders the foes.

The lurker fey screeches as the cold iron pricks burn deeply. "Tossing about destruction, eh? Take some of mine!" He tosses another book behind Nicodemus as a decoy before dissappearing to another point and blasting him with the heavy light.

The other lurker leaves a book deposit on the shelf behind the barbarian then whisks back to toss the light at Gwen with a nasty snarl.

Alessandra notices out of the corner of her eye, first the shadow, then the full form of Pappy the leprechaun waddling around the corner just in time to see the smoke in the hallway. The sprites still watching from the doorway shriek and scatter.

Gwen cackles as the fey drops from her coffin needles like a popped balloon. She finally pulls the scarf free from her neck and the deep and horrible scars are fully visible. Her eyes turn to the last fey and she gives a hungry smile. "Please, dearie. Struggle. It makes it sweeter." She flings the coffin nails

The silent pause is broken by the famililar lilt of the leprechaun as he graces the doorway.

"My this prank has taken on a life of its own. So much smoke!" his words trail off with hesitation as he notices the bodies on the floor and the multitude of burned books on the shelves still seeping into the air with trails of grey and black.

His eyes darken. "What has happened here?"

There is the solitary sound of a drop of fairy blood off of the glowing barbarian's chin and onto a broken mirror suspended just above the floor.

"They attacked us. We were just trying to put out the fires and save the books, but they attacked us. Hopefully they can be saved."

Achurius looks around to see if any of the fallen could use a stabilize spell.

"And setting books on fire. Tsk.. one should never play with fire!" Kargoth says, seeing who might need healing.

"Their pranks went *beyond* mildly maleficent, and took a deep dive into utter depravity! THEY TRIED TO BURN THE LIBRARY!"

Nicodemus is practically vibrating with rage at what has just happened.

Gwen looks around the library for a moment. "It did seem that they were intent on the destruction of this store of knowledge. That would be a threat to the school's general purpose. We were called to defend it." She looks over her nails casually, checking to make sure she didn't break one.

Efforts to save the fallen fey prove fruitless as the cold iron continues to decay their flesh.

Pappy nods to each revelation from the group. "I can't say it isn't concerning that the school was set ablaze. Such a loss. Not to mention the danger to the wee ‘uns. I can't believe the malevolence. They were instructed to hold back on this day."

"It's true! The lurkers were out of control!" The sprites add, returning from their hiding spots to tug at the leprechaun's leggings.

Pappy nudges them away with a subtle kick. "Well enough, then. You are of course free to defend yourselves and the school under such bizarre behavior, but make sure malice is present, and not just over-exuberance. It looks like you are still banged up, feel free to set that straight in here, I'll make sure to let the caravan know the library is off-limits for the rest of the day. We will recompense the damages... from our winnings on the day, no doubt." He smiles.

Pappy then turns to the now assembled sprite squadron. "You lot. Find something useful to do. I'm sure there are other pranks to be had. Let's try to reclaim that spirit!"

The sprites mock salutes to their "leader" and race down the hallway to find more mischief.

With a wink and a blink, Pappy disappears once again.

Nicodemus mostly patches up his own wounds, leaving himself with a slight bruise.
