Walks with Giants
|
fort save: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 2 = 16; +1 vs. fear; +2 vs. death effects
pulling a scroll of color spray from his belt he sees if a light spell might affect them (Fuschia and Dark Purple). (Only DC 11 though, since it is from a scroll).
Cara Baldaros
|
Seeing the creature get a hit on Walker, Cara swings away again.
attack: 1d20 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (20) + 4 + 1 = 251d6 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
You good there, big guy?
crit: 1d20 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 4 + 1 = 131d6 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
someday i'll confirm a crit...lol

Whatever that thing had been carrying, the holy-man manages to fight off - and so much the better, too, because it appears the fungi have finally overcome their torpor from the chilly water, and are starting to move with noticeably more verve!
To make matters worse, Walks's scroll appears to accomplish nothing.
Rosla does indeed miss her mark again (Remember: Ammunition that missed has a 50% chance to be salvageable, waste not want not!), and Cara scores another visible nick (but nothing more) on the first fungoid's cap.
While the other two continue their bog-slog like Chelaxian soldiers in some far-flung rice-paddy, the one at the fore finally seems to notice where the harm's been coming from, and retaliates against Cara, and...oh dear, it has more of those tendrils than was first apparent, enough for her AND Walks with Giants!
VS Cara:
tentacle: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (15) + 4 = 19
damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
tentacle: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8
tentacle: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12
VS Walks with Giants:
tentacle: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (11) + 4 = 15
The spirits (and more importantly, his tanner) spare Walks with Giants another strike, but Cara takes one painful score to the arm, which begins to feel strangely 'fizzy'...Cara, make a Fortitude save!
Timinic recovers from his distraction, and with the help of his new form braves the water to begin an enchantment upon Tempestas, who starts to feel an odd stretching sensation...Tempestas, you are being enlarged, correct me if I'm wrong of course, but I imagine that would be to your liking?
ROUND 5:
Rosla (blessed, Studious), Timinic (alter self, shield, blessed, casting a spell), Tempestas (blessed), Cara (20/25, blessed, ROLL FORTITUDE!), Walks with Giants (17/19, blessed)

Walks with Giants

Not believing a mushroom creature would be affected by any of his spells Walks opts for a fortune hex on Tempestas.
Cara Baldaros
|
fort: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (16) + 5 = 21
assuming that passes...
Cara take s a hit for the team and shrugs off most of what was dished out.
Is that all you've got? she answers back with her scimitar, determined to end the fight quickly.
attack, bless: 1d20 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (10) + 4 + 1 = 151d6 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
unsure if there are any negative mods after my save so add them in if needed...
Rosla el Func
|
Rosla reloads her crossbow, 5-foot-steps up to get a better line of sight and shoots at the fungus Dark Purple again.
Light Crossbow, bless, Studied Target: 1d20 + 7 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 7 + 1 + 1 = 12 :-(
Piercing, Studied Target: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
"Dammit!"
Tempestas
|
An enlarged Tempestas strikes at Dark Purple.
longsword: 1d20 + 6 + 1 - 1 ⇒ (6) + 6 + 1 - 1 = 12 damage: 1d8 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 4 + 1 = 10
shortsword: 1d20 + 4 + 1 - 1 ⇒ (3) + 4 + 1 - 1 = 7 damage: 1d6 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 4 + 1 = 9
((+1 bless -1 enlarge))
Rosla el Func

In addition to the -1 penalty to attack Enlarge Person also gives you (indirectly) +1 to attack because of the +2 size bonus to STR, so effectively +0. Not that it matters with these rolls, though...
Also, the damage dice of your weapons are larger now.
| I'm DMing In Your Closet |
speak for yourself...I'm holding up my end...lol
Wish I could say the same...anyway, HAPPY NEW YEAR, let's friggin' finish this!!!
Tempestas, you would not have been enlarged just yet, but yeah, it hardly matters there...ALTHOUGH, you did neglect to make use of your Fortune! I'll let you make a retroactive extra roll (without the modifiers you'll have this round)...
Sarenrae's light shines upon Cara even down here, it would seem, and the crawling, stinking sensation on her skin passes as quickly as it came - in return, she deals the increasingly-lacerated mushroom a nasty whack to the stem!!!
Timinic finishes his spell - the fool has made the entire place tiny, Tempestas thinks as the ceiling hits his head! No, wait, that's not it....
The other two mushrooms finally cease their slog, and what happens next...well, suffice it to say that Cara and Walks with Giants will likely both be put off vermicelli for years to come....
VS Cara:
tentacle: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8
tentacle: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 = 16
tentacle: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6
tentacle: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11
tentacle: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12
tentacle: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (14) + 4 = 18
VS Walks with Giants:
tentacle: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5
tentacle: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (11) + 4 = 15
tentacle: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9
tentacle: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5
tentacle: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10
tentacle: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (9) + 4 = 13
...maybe the mushrooms simply envy their armor???
You may be pathetic, but BOY ARE YOU LUCKY!
Timinic turns about and zaps Cara's scratching-post with another eerie green ray...
Acidic Ray, blessed, melee penalty VS Fun Guy: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (12) + 1 = 13
acid damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
...causing it to visibly wilt! It's still standing, but it looks like it's starting to collapse...!
ROUND 6:
Rosla (blessed, Studious), Timinic (alter self, shield, blessed), Tempestas (blessed, HUGE!, Fortunate...?), Cara (20/25, blessed), Walks with Giants (17/19, blessed)

Walks enhances Cara with a Fortune Hex this round.
Cara Baldaros
|
Press on! This one is wilting... Cara says, emboldened by the lucky feeling she has. She swings away.
attack, bless: 1d20 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 4 + 1 = 101d6 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
attack, fortune: 1d20 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 4 + 1 = 111d6 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6
Walks with Giants

Ack! Seems like his fortune hexes are acting like misfortune hexes!
Rosla el Func
|
"Fudge this!" Rosla drops her crossbow and hustles back to her friends to get back into melee.
Jumping twice, so here are the Acrobatics checks:
Acrobatics - ACP: 1d20 + 11 - 0 ⇒ (9) + 11 - 0 = 20 long jump 5 ft, base DC 5
Acrobatics - ACP: 1d20 + 11 - 0 ⇒ (6) + 11 - 0 = 17 long jump 5 ft, base DC 5
She aces the jumps, even with the +5 DC increase for the slippery flagstones.
During her movement she draws her cold iron Elven Leafblade.

Cara's mushroom-dicing spree comes to an abrupt halt; who would've guessed that Sarenrae and whatever patrons Walks with Giants looks to weren't on the best of terms???
They seem to agree a more with Tempestas, though - as the sudden twisting of his flesh was about to make him miss his mark, an anomalous breeze directs his sword to shave a nice slice off the cap of the one nearest him.
Rosla recalls the chiding looks she got back home for dealing in crossbows to begin with, and adapts her tactics with a flourish.
Timinic uses the bog to his advantage, churning his way toward and behind the faltering fungus, pointing his spear at its...back...???
Tempestas considers his options; somewhere at the back of his mind, he is nagged by a vague memory of his brother claiming this is exactly what would happen to him if he ate strange mushrooms....
ROUND 6...:
Rosla (blessed, Studious), Timinic (alter self, shield, blessed), Tempestas (blessed, HUGE!), Cara (20/25, blessed, "Fortunate"), Walks with Giants (17/19, blessed)

Alright, Super-Tempestas, what now? Don't forget that your weapons are bigger too now...!
Tempestas

| 1 person marked this as a favorite. |
Well the violet fungi (purple patch?) is right there, in reach, so... it's hack and slash time - or is that slice, dice, and julienne.
longsword: 1d20 + 6 + 1 - 1 ⇒ (3) + 6 + 1 - 1 = 9 damage: 1d8 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 4 + 1 = 6
shortsword: 1d20 + 4 + 1 - 1 ⇒ (5) + 4 + 1 - 1 = 9 damage: 1d6 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 4 + 1 = 6
((+1 bless -1 enlarge))
As for the mushrooms his brother was talking about, those were the brightly coloured pastel mushrooms on Castroval, and he was right, you don't want to eat those, unless you want to take a trip into outer space without leaving the planet.
Oh for goodness sakes!
Rosla el Func

@Super-Tempestas: I think your enlarged longsword now deals 2d6+5 (full bonus of STR 20 = +5) damage and your enlarged shortsword now deals 1d8+2 (half bonus of STR 20 = +5/2 = +2) damage. (Source #1, Source #2)
Also, the -1 penalty to your attack rolls is offset (for melee) by the +2 size bonus to STR from Enlarge Person. And Bless grants you another +1 to attack, so currently you should have the following attack rolls:
MW longsword 1d20+6+1 and shortsword 1d20+4+1
Not that any of that matters with these dice rolls... Yikes! :-(
| I'm DMing In Your Closet |
Tempestas, you would not have been enlarged just yet, but yeah, it hardly matters there...ALTHOUGH, you did neglect to make use of your Fortune! I'll let you make a retroactive extra roll (without the modifiers you'll have this round)...
"Purple Patch" continues flailing...
VS Tempestas:
tentacle: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10
VS Cara:
tentacle: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7
VS Walks with Giants:
tentacle: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (10) + 4 = 14
tentacle: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8
...to no avail whatsoever, while the other two dither in place for a moment; it seems Walks with Giants' scroll have had some effect after all!
ROUND 7:
Rosla (blessed, Studious), Timinic (alter self, shield, blessed), Tempestas (blessed, HUGE!), Cara (20/25, blessed), Walks with Giants (17/19, blessed)

Walks with Giants

This time Walks places a fortune hex on Rosla.
Rosla el Func
|
"Ok, let's do this!" Rosla steps towards Walks, then turns around and hustles to the other side to pick up some speed. She turns after 10 foot and jumps across the water. see map
move action to try to jump across two squares of deep bog (with a running start), this provokes an AoO
Acrobatics check for jumping: Acrobatics - ACP: 1d20 + 11 - 0 ⇒ (11) + 11 - 0 = 22 long jump 10 ft, base DC 10
She makes this jump, too, even with the +5 DC increase for the slippery flagstones.
Landing safely in the water she tries to slice the fungus Dark Purple with her cold iron Leafblade.
MW cold iron Elven Leafblade, Studied Target, bless: 1d20 + 8 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 8 + 1 + 1 = 12
fortunate MW cold iron Elven Leafblade, Studied Target, bless: 1d20 + 8 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 8 + 1 + 1 = 12
Slashing Damage, Studied Target: 1d4 ⇒ 1
Oh come on, dice bot! Really??? >:-(

LOL! Third fortune hex to fail spectacularly! I really want to retrain that pitiful excuse for a hex!
