also i would like to thank the GM for running this. it must be like trying to herd a group of cats with this many tables
Looking into the room at several looming figures tapping her fingers against her scale mail vest either out of excitement or fear, she didn't know. well someone should break the silence she thought to herself.
rising from a sturdy chair a young pale skinned woman with jade black hair began to speak hello my name is Imperia Lexia. This is my first mission and I am happy to meet fellow pathfinders, hopefully some of your greater experience will rub off on me. her golden eyes scanning the room Imperia sat back down in the chair I hope they accept me she thought to herself before returning to her prayers.

There's evil in the hallway
Of that you are aware
There's evil on the statues
There's evil in the air
There's evil in the displays
There's evil on the floor
It's seeping through the cracks
It's flowing through the door
There's evil all around you
It's even in your hair
Evil, evil, evil
Evil everywhere!
Couldn't resist

Evil in the keyboard
Evil in the phone
Telecom corruption
Better stay at home
At times I have the feeling my phone hates me back. I can recommend wayfinder if you have an android device, though, sure beats the change keyboard-change keyboard-find bracket routine you run into on a phone.

Thanks for pointing that out. It also seems the casting time is one round (so technically the effect would start only next round) - so I'm imagining her increasing her size over the course of the round. I would say she can already act as enlarged this round (but would rule against Aoos)

for some reason he man went thru my mind
just read this kept the attack roll up (deleting it didn't seem right because it was an attack roll feel free to keep or discard it)

The red one, it's off-map now. I'm in an airport lounge, internet may be a bit slow to upload to dropbox

Thanks! Here's hoping she'll actually stop an attack or two with it before long. She does need to be adjacent to her allies to attempt that trick though. ^_^
I also mean to test Azura out as a Musetouched Aasimar to maximize her Inspire Courage, but the loss of a feat means she would lose her ability to boost her allies AC, so I'll be interested to see how effective they both are.

just take 20. the perception check is a move action so taking 20 only takes 1 minute for that. if it is trapped you'll have to roll (or take 10 if you think that'll be enough) for the disable i believe (since there's a penalty for failure), but if it's locked but not trapped you can take 20 on that too which would take 2 minutes.

Alia is a character in another scenario :)
She uses the same avatar picture AND she ran through MoW with my sing-a-long bard previously. It was bound to happen sometime.

As you like it, it didn't bother me or confuse me that much. I think this picture captures your character well, too.
Yes, got times were had by all, even the aloof wizard.

yeah, sorry. lol. i was going to get both enemies either way, but i hoped the dwarf would have been the one caught in the crossfire with his extra +2 vs spells. at least, now, he can sneak attack freely and they're much easier to hit. hopefully we can drop one and get out of this corner soon.

| 1 person marked this as a favorite. |
does the surprise round count against the duration? it would mean only Dobar's first three attacks are sneak attacks, but also that Lexia can get up after the second one and (assuming she can find her weapon) swing at the space next to her blindly hoping to hit something.
edit: nevermind, i forgot that they're also stunned. go home, color spray, you got everyone drunk...

she should be able to spear that square anyway... possibly through soft cover, but with them stunned, it shouldn't even be hard. though, after her first attack i may switch with her if the cover is problematic. i'm actually hoping that we'll drop one rather quickly and Azura and i can get out of the corner.

Happy holidays all!

the shriek paralyzes as DMK already said, but i'm trying to figure out if it's continuous or if they shriek once and you're paralyzed... because that affects how countersong interacts. the main difference it makes is whether or not i lob acid during the fight. grease is the only spell i have left with combat utility and i don't think it would have been much help in this encounter anyway.

First off, remember the GM's interpretation is the one that matters when descriptors are vague. Personally, I appreciate not being asked to roll 2 saves in a row. The board dice bot is notorious for handing out 20, then a 1, then a 20, and again a 1... >_<
I've never dealt with Pathfinder Vargies before, but since you must both see and hear them to be affected by the shriek, it's similar to a bardic performance in a sense, so it makes sense for countersong to work against it. It used to be a fear-based effect, ie, you were paralyzed by fear.
Countersong (Su): At 1st level, a bard learns to counter magic effects that depend on sound (but not spells that have verbal components.) Each round of the countersong he makes a Perform (keyboard, percussion, wind, string, or sing) skill check. Any creature within 30 feet of the bard (including the bard himself) that is affected by a sonic or language-dependent magical attack may use the bard's Perform check result in place of its saving throw if, after the saving throw is rolled, the Perform check result proves to be higher. If a creature within range of the countersong is already under the effect of a non-instantaneous sonic or language-dependent magical attack, it gains another saving throw against the effect each round it hears the countersong, but it must use the bard's Perform skill check result for the save. Countersong does not work on effects that don't allow saves. Countersong relies on audible components.

Yup, that's why I asked.

I agree, but that still means the second one basically decided to waste a turn doing nothing.

The part the description was unclear about was whether or not one must continue to shriek to affect you. The effect has a duration of "2d4 rounds or until the monster attacks them, or leaves their sight." It does not say until the monster attacks at all (so it could attack one of you) or stops shrieking, so in theory it's like a lingering performance.
It used to be a fear-based effect, ie, you were paralyzed by fear.
Ah well I'm glad it's not anymore or it wouldn't make much sense for me to retain the mental faculties to still identify them.

I moved the bolding to the more relevant part. The issue is whether or not the Shriek ability is instantaneous and the effect happens to have a duration that doesn't require additional magic or not... because I'm already under its effect.
