Kagar the Painted Fury
|
Kagar contemplates the situation. "I like what Faeriea alluded to. Row under, come up within, take contents. Only works if there's a hatch there. I do not think it wise to saw or break our way in."
Faeria, the Mad

Faeria watches Hugo intently with her glassy eyes. Paranoia?

.......... The Pier and Warehouse ..........
One of the fishermen sees the group looking at the old warehouse. "What ya all lookin' fer?"
Roshan the Rider
|
Roshan shrugs. "A boat going beneath will need to get from the surface of the water, to the underside of this hole; that will mean climbing a rope, at the very least. It seems complicated..."
At the words from the fisherman, she offers a bright smile and a wave.
"Hello!" She avoids answering the question, instead saying, "Has anyone been around this building lately?" She fishes out a handful of silver coins from her pouch as she speaks.

.......... The Pier and Warehouse ..........
The fisherman does not move but yells back a Roshan. "I've been fishin' her for the last two weeks and seen no one come or go."
Diplomacy would help a lot here.

The fisherman does not move but yells back a Roshan. "I've been fishin' her for the last two weeks and seen no one come or go."
"Oh, HELLO! HELLO! ARE YOU FISHING OVER THERE?! HOW ARE THEY BITING?! CAN I SEE?!" Faeria jumps up and down in her great excitement at speaking to a man over great distances by shouting. "maybe he has a key perhaps? I'll go chat him up. Feminine wiles." She says with a wink (which proves difficult for her).
She wanders off toward the man.
Oddly she keeps shouting as if not realize that she is approaching the man or that distance matters to sound.
Roshan the Rider
|
Roshan rubs a little at her forehead as Faeria shouts at the man and keeps shouting at him even when she gets closer.
She trots after.
"Please do not mind her. The sun is getting a little to her!" she says at a normal volume. "I wonder, would you like to make a little extra coin and be able to take the day off, sir?"

There you go, there's my Diplomacy.
Fellstone Bloodknuckle
|
"The sun must have been getting to her all day." Fellstone muttered. Faeria was certainly odd but perhaps her strange methods could be effective. They'd have to wait and see. "Let's see if her feminine wiles will do the trick."
Fellstone walked towards the warehouse, deciding to try the front door. Maybe Faerias feminine wiles might yield something but he wanted to try the obvious. Maybe the warehouse was unlocked.
| GM - Wackadoodle |
"Locked," Roshan says with a shrug. "I can't pick a lock. Windows it is!"
@Fellstone - the door is locked Roshan has already check it.

.......... The Pier and Warehouse ..........
The fisherman has cropped blonde hair and amber eyes. He wears modest garments and a wide-brimmed hat. He turns as the women approach him and says in a stern whisper when they get near. "Quite now girl! Ye'll scar the fish!" Giving Faeria a strange look.
His eyes go wide when Roshan pulls out a hand full of silver coins. "Just what do ye want me to do?" He hands his fishing pole to a young boy next to him and crosses his arms over his chest.
Fellstone Bloodknuckle
|
I missed Roshan checking the door. That's what I get for posting from work.
After jiggling the lock, Fellstone frowns at the door. Taking several steps back, he looks up at the roof. "...we could always try going up instead of down..." he mutters.
Suddenly feeling morally conflicted about planning to break into a place, Fellstone falls silent, waiting to hear what the fisherman is willing to do.

.......... The Pier and Warehouse ..........
Hugo marches up to the door and yanks the door handle, lock and all, right off the door. Door weathered old door sways a little on its hinges.
LOL!! Nice Hugo.
Faeria, the Mad
|
"Hugo found the key!" Faeria says cheerfully. She, turns and holds out an elbow for Roshan apparently intending they walk off the pier together.
Roshan the Rider
|
Roshan looks back over her shoulder, then back to the fisherman. "--not a thing!" she says brightly. "Have a nice day!"
She trots for the building's door, not taking Faeria's offered arm.

.......... The Pier and Warehouse ..........
The people on the pier seem not to notice that Hugo broke the door open but due notice as Faeria steps off the pier into the water.
The warehouse now open ... so what do you want to do?

"Blub!?"
Roshan the Rider

Roshan turns at the sound of the splash, her brows furrowed. She realizes they've misplaced Faeria.
"Oh."
Pause, frown. "Hm, well I suppose she wouldn't have done that if she didn't have some way of getting herself out of the situation. Let's go inside while people are busy looking at her."
Roshan opens the door and sidles inside the warehouse.

.......... Warehouse ..........
Darkness fills the warehouse, the ambient light from outside
blocked by a filthy, oily film on the structure’s few windows.
Darting illumination comes from light reflecting off the
water through a splintered hole in the floor. Throughout the
warehouse, crates, boxes, and barrels lean against each other
in vaguely sorted stacks. A lingering smell indicates some of
the contents are certainly spoiled.
The warehouse is In an area of dim light, a character can see somewhat. Creatures within this area have concealment (20% miss chance in combat) from those without darkvision or the ability to see in darkness. A creature within an area of dim light can make a Stealth check to conceal itself.
Faeria tries to swim to the boat just next to her but her leg gets tangled in something under water and she goes under the surface.
Fearia the swimming is a DC 10 in this area. You can always choose to take 10 on a Swim check, even if distracted or endangered when swimming.
Roshan the Rider

Roshan looks around inside the warehouse, hunting for the marked crate. Bagheera pads behind her, nosing at her shoulder ever so often.

Faeria eventually makes it to the boat wondering where she is and how she got here and why she has a sliver in her tongue. She shakes herself off like a doused dog but still looks a bit like a brightly colored drowned rat. Even her pointy wizard's hat looks defeated sagging around her head on all sides like a sad plant's bloom.
Well, obviously I'm in a boat. And what does one do in a boat? Go boating!
Roshan the Rider
|
"I can't see in the dark," Roshan murmurs back to Kagar, "but if you all can, feel free to look around. I won't risk more light than what's filtering in already if you don't want me to."

.......... Warehouse ..........
Barrels, boxes, and crates sit stacked along the walls of the warehouse. Just inside the door sits a handful of crates and kegs of beer. Some of the crates reek of rot. Stacks of simple coffins sit against the east wall.
Kagar and Hugo can see across the warehouse. Everyone else needs a light source to to see more then 15 feet in front of them.
Faeria what would you like to do with the boat?
Faeria, the Mad
|
Fly! ...Oh?
I suppose she'll take it for a spin. Maybe beneath the warehouse.
Faeria, the Mad
|
"Row, row, row, your boat, gently down the stream."
Kagar the Painted Fury
|
Kagar relays what he sees, not bothering to whisper since he sees no enemies. Still, he doesn't shout or anything.
That fisherman was already enough attention.

Roshan the Rider

I believe several people who have darkvision have made perception rolls to look for our marked crate. Have they found it?
Fellstone Bloodknuckle
|
The dark was not a problem for Fellstone, his Darkvision taking only a moment to adjust, and he stepped cautiously into the warehouse.
"Now...where might that crate be..." He muttered as he started to make his way through the warehouse.

.......... Warehouse ..........
The group moves thru the warehouse lead by the monks and barbarian with their darkvision. The smell only gets worst as the group moves deeper into the warehouse. You can also see a large portion of the floor has be badly damaged and perched in the middle of a hole, teetering on split planks, sits a large crate stamped with three crows arranged in a triangle. There is your crate.
The smell in the warehouse is animal feces. Seeing a pile of if on the floor you figure out that it is rat feces, very large rat feces.

.......... Under the Warehouse ..........
You find a set of oars in the boat and row the boat under the warehouse. Once under there you feel very uneasy as the build looks like it could fall on you at any moment. Many of wooden floor planks are rotten and crumbling. You see a large hole in the floor in the southwest corner of the warehouse. Perched in the middle of a hole, teetering on split planks, sits a large crate.
Fellstone Bloodknuckle
|
Fellstone walked carefully to the edge of the split planks and looks down into the opening.
"Going to be tricky this. How did they put that crate there? Anyone have any ideas? Maybe loop a rope around the crate?" He said and then wrinkled his nose at the foul smell. "Irori's Blessed Backside! What is that smell?!"
Roshan the Rider
|
Roshan digs a sturdy hemp rope out of Bagheera's saddlebags, looking thoughtful as she surveys the crate.
Taking 10 on the knowledge nature for a 17
Roshan wrinkles her nose. "Rats have been in here... very large rats," she says. "Icky things. They could still be in here."
Roshan holds up the rope. "If I take off my armor and pack and things, I'm pretty light-- under forty pounds. We could see if I could climb out there-- tied to another rope in case I slip-- and if I can get out there without the planks breaking, then I could tie the rope around the crate?"
| GM - Wackadoodle |
.......... Warehouse ..........
As Fellstone moves toward the crate deeper into the warehouse three large rats come out of the shadows and attack. The dwarven monk sees them out of the corner of his eye but the others are caught by surprise. One of the rats bites Hugo tearing a chunk out the dwarf's leg. Hugo you take 4 damage!! One tries to bite Kagar but only grabs a bit of the Half-Orcs clothing. The other bites at Fellstone but it foot slips thru a hole in the floor and the yellow teeth only find the dwarf's tough shoe.
Fellstone you may take a standard or move action in the surprise round.
