On the back of her loyal canine steed, Ny'a circles wide around the fountain, coming in towards the back of the glowing runes. She can not detect any sort of evil coming off of them, but that does not stop her from swinging her sword at them as she arrives. Though she manages to strike one of the swiftly churning symbols, the blow does not appear to do much damage at all, just nicking a small chip off of one that bears a symbol that looks suspiciously like an inverted duck.

Thran tries a different approach, as he moves in on the opposite side, and attempts to take them apart through pure random selection... but try as he might, he can't seem to find the right combination of symbols to shut down that section.

The runes do not remain idle though, as they quickly shift and swirl onto and around Ny'a and her mount, battering and buffeting them both.

1d6 ⇒ 3 non-lethal damage to Ny'a, and 1d6 ⇒ 1 non-lethal damage to her dog.
Both of them need to make a DC 12 fortitude save or become distracted, gaining the nauseated condition.

Somewhere, in the grass behind Thran, there is a sharp crackle of magical energy, and an orb of viscous fluid sudden appears and flies past the hedge at Rhyfelwr, striking him directly in the chest. The fluid splatters all around, pouring down his legs and pooling on the ground at his feet.

Rhyfelwr is now entangled, and needs to make a DC 15 reflex save, or be rooted to his current location, unable to move.

Ny'a throws up her sword and shield to block the blows from the swirling symbols; she ducks and crouches to protect the dog as much as she can as it cowers and twists away; they're able to withstand the worst of it and Ny'a begins looking for an opening to try to strike again as she guides the dog out of the runes.

Ny'a... remember the DC of all ride checks goes up by 2, when your mount is injured.

Rhyfelwr manages to get his legs moving before the strange sticky substance has a chance to harden... enough to at least not be stuck in place... though not quite enough to avoid it impeding his movement entirely. It is a struggle just to move a few paces, as he tries to catch up to the others.

Drin has no such problems, quickly ducking past the entangled warrior to get in close to the strange arcane wards. He immediately starts swiping at runes with his hands, pushing them to the side in what seems a random pattern, but in his head, it all makes sense. It only takes a moment, until not only do a few of them seem to line up and glow, but the string seems to carry much farther, suddenly aligning a series of runes on a second band, until both slow and lay dormant. Whatever he did, it seems to be working!

Takes multiple successes to shut it all down... but particularly successful attempts do it a little quicker.

Jangalee goes for the more direct approach, as he digs in his pack for a vial of acid while he starts to move around the other side, commanding Panja to stay out of it. The tiger seems to be ignoring him, though stays where it is, as it lays close to the ground as if ready to pounce, eyes glued intently to the glowing, swiftly moving runes, its long tail swiping back and forth slowly.

I'm trying to imagine every cat I've ever known, and how it would react to a similar situation =) This is like the laser pen on the floor!

In the midst of it all, Ny'a manages to calm her dog, keeping it from panicking under the constant barrage of swirling runes as she slowly backs both of them out of the effect. Her attempt to knock them back with her sword though proves far less effective with her concentration divided.

Tolinath, I'm ok with that... but you need to be adjacent to do so. For now, will assume you're getting closer!

With a little more time to observe it, Thran tries again to figure it out... this time, he seems to have more luck, as a number of runes to stop spinning, and just drop to the ground.

Tolinath moves in, on the far side, thinking he might be able to sort something out from all his scribe training... but his short dwarven legs do not let him quite get close enough to try before the runes themselves decide to give him an up close and personal look. They swirl towards the dwarf and Drin, enveloping them both. The two Pathfinders are pelted by the swiftly moving symbols, almost too quickly to focus on!

Rhyfelwr tries to remove some of the glue, hindering his movements but he only manages to scrape off a small amount of the gooey substance, for all his efforts. Not nearly enough to allow his legs to bend normally.

Ny'a and her mount suffer no such obstruction, as she backs her riding dog away. Realizing that her sword is doing little damage at all, she instead takes a more defensive posture... but fate has a sense of humor, and from the grass over by the statue on the east side of the fountain, another small flash of arcane energy forms. A moment later, a second viscous ball of goop flies across the open area, aimed directly for the dog on which she rides! Even her best training didn't prepare her for this sort of attack, and it explodes upon contact with the unfortunate canine's head, covering it in the same gooey substance as Rhyfelwr! The poor pooch whines as the thick substance drips down its face and legs, and starts to stiffen.

Ny'a, you don't have enough skill in Ride to avoid the attack with Mounted Combat, so am not including that.
The dog is entangled! And needs to make a DC 15 ride check or be stuck in place!

Meanwhile, Thran and Drin continue trying to disable the runes, before they can cause more havoc. Buoyed by his earlier success, Thran continues working on the runes without really knowing exactly what he's doing... but whatever it is, it seems to be working. Around him, a few more runes stop spinning, their glows fading. Drin has similar success, doing everything he can to ignore the magical symbols pelting him from all sides, as he too disables a few more... but he's not sure how much of the constant bombardment he can take!

Barely able to keep on his feet, Drin refuses to leave the swarming runes, instead continuing to disable them, one after the other. As he works, the circling strands continue to disband, and fall inert to the ground... but still the wards stay active.

In the end, it is the dwarf barbarian, going entirely against type, who figures out the final mechanism... long hours of scribing simple scrolls helping him notice a few out of sequence. He reaches in, and grasps a single rune in one meaty hand, and with no other fanfare, the entire ward collapses.

A shower of small runes rains down into the grass, leaving you all on your own in the cool evening air.

Medda seems to come to a decision. Very well. If you will serve as mediators, we will give Nigel another chance to do the right thing.

Medda and her companions begin to gather their belongings, tightening bandages from some of their earlier battles as they do so.

Unfortunately before you can return to the safety of the great outdoors, the Blakros Museum has one more bid of devilry to send your way.

Whether, the wards containing it were damaged in earlier battles, or in the overall shutdown of the museum's defenses, or just out of plain bad luck, at that moment the crystal chandelier falls to the ground, shattering in a burst of sulfur.

Emerging from the wreckage of the chandelier is a seething fiend. It glares and flexes a pair of viscous claws.

Just checking since Rhyfelwr and me are not in that list. That's supposed to be the init track (and we didn't get copied in) or just a list of current damage and there's no init order yet? I'm guessing the first, but just checking to make sure

You are both at the top, so can go. Drin is the only one slower than the nasty.
