In the interests of keeping things going
You take leave of the Wisp and head off through the heavy overcast towards the Ivy district. You are perhaps half way there when the skies open up. What a fantastic day.
Asking around, you find a couple of leads, but most folk are more interesting in discussing the upcoming ascension of Sir Reinhart. More than one maiden all but faints at his name.
how long: 1d4 ⇒ 4
It is shortly before lunchtime when you come to an old Saranite graveyard. In the murky distance you can hear the sound of footsteps as someone walks the muddy grounds.
Carini
|
"I think I hear someone in there. Could that be just coincidence, or is someone else investigating this mystery as well?"
Carini tries to peer through the rain to see the source of the sound, but can see nothing of significance.
"We should be cautious when we go inside." She hefts her guisarme just in case.
Pietro Slaszval the Boisterous
|
"AHOY!!" Pietro flags the person down.
Zootloot
|
Is there a gate or a door or just an open passageway into the graveyard?
"I'm sure we can find someone around here who can direct us to where Arkath's buried."

Gratius peers into the wet and gloomy afternoon. There is a person in the graveyard. They appear to be dressed in a priests robe.
As Pietro calls out the figure turns and slowly approaches you.
There is an old gate and a broken fence around the outside of the year
The priest approaches and throws back her hood.
"What?" she all but shouts at you. "Are you doing here?"
Pietro Slaszval the Boisterous

Sense motive: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (12) + 3 = 15
"We couldn'the get seats to the Trial of the Star stone, and then heard that folks were dying to get in here and we thought we'd have a look! HAHAHA!
Untir Jonrot
|
sense motive: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (17) + 0 = 17
Untir frowns at the unwelcoming rudeness of the priestess. Do wetlanders have no sense of protocol of behaviour? He keeps quiet, however, uncertain of the appropriate response. He is certain, however, that Pietro's response would not help.
GM Aerondor
|
"Death is No Laughing Matter." storms the priestess.
"Get out of here if you will not show respect for the dead and this sacred ground. Get Out I say. GET OUT."
She draws a scimitar and waves it at you.
Pietro Slaszval the Boisterous
|
"...HA-WHAT! OH, COME ON! Give me a break. We're both clerics! What's death without life? And what's life without a little fun?"

SenseMotive: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (17) + 1 = 18
Diplomacy (aid): 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (16) + 3 = 19
When Zootloot sees the priestess growing angry he puts on his best face and turns on his charm. "Please, we're are here to show respect."
Carini
|
Knowing better than to try to involve herself in matters of smooth words, Carini begins looking for another way in should the front entrance prove unfruitful.
GM Aerondor
|
"You.." she sneers at Pietro "Would seem to follow the incarnation of insobriety. A man who was too drunk to know he had failed the test and somehow slurped his way into divinity. While I follow an Angel who stood against the Rough beast at the dawn of Creation. There is No Common Ground."
She seems to be working herself up into a fit.
Then Gratius actually says what the group needs. Zoot, surprisingly, also helps out.
"Respect! That is what we need more of. If you came to pay your Respects to Arkath, I will lead you to his tomb."
She continues to glower, but some of the steam seems to have left her. The stomps though muddy puddles, taking to you to a tomb.
"I suppose you want me to open if for you too?"
She sighs and pulls out a large key, turns it in the door and opens the entrance.
Within is a sealed sarcophagus.
Untir Jonrot
|
Untir mutters the arcane words, "මැජික් හඳුනා!" and waves his bow across the air. (casts detect magic) He then focuses his attention to determine if there is magic inside the tomb, on the sarcophagus or inside it.
GM Aerondor
|
Oh yes... there is something magical within the sarcophagus.
The priest, whose name you have learned is Onyeka, looks suspiciously at Untir, but doesn't interrupt him except to say "No necromancy will be permitted."
Pietro Slaszval the Boisterous
|
Perplexed, Pietro turns to Walt and says: "'Insobriety'?"
Pietro Slaszval the Boisterous
|
"Oh!" Says Pietro. He crosses his heart smiles and nods satisfied.
GM Aerondor
|
"In that he was drunk before he took the test, drunk when he took it, and according to popular myth, which he doesn't nothing to disabuse, has been drunk ever since."
When the conversation turns to removing items from the crypt she looks even sterner. "No. No. NO You may not loot the tomb. This man has been put to rest. You tell me, you come here to pay your respects, and then you start casting spells and then have the audacity to ask permission to loot the tomb. I believe you are here under FALSE PRETENCES. Get Out!"
She does seem quite agitated.
Pietro Slaszval the Boisterous
|
Insobriety = Necro?
"In that he was drunk before he took the test, drunk when he took it, and according to popular myth, which he doesn't nothing to disabuse, has been drunk ever since."
"MADAM! YOU INSULT MY HONOR AS A MAN OF THE CLOTH! I WILL HAVE YOU KNOW THAT I DO NOT KNOW THE MEANING OF 'INSOBRIETY' NOR HAVE I EVER MOLESTED A DEAD PERSON AGAINST THEIR WILL!"
"NOR WI'LL I STAND FOR YOU IMPLYING THAT MY LORD WON HIS WAY TO WHERE HE STANDS NOW THOUGH BASE ALCHEMY AND NOT BY HIS OWN PLUCK AND NATURAL HIGH SPIRITS! ESPECIALLY FROM ONE WHO FOLLOWS A DRIED, OLD SPINSTER OF A GODDESS WHO IS SO COLD SHE IT TAKES ALL THE WORLD'S CANDLES TO KEEP HER WARM!" He bellows using his inside bellow.
GM Aerondor
|
"Dried Up Old Spinster!" screams the priest.
"She is the Dawn Flower, Bringer of Warmth and Love you heritic..."
The priest seems to have lost all sense of reason and launches an attack on Pietro.

What the heck ! Thinks Gratius hearing first the priestess taking wrong on his demand and then his comrade loosing its cool...
CAN WE STOP THIS NON SENSE AND GET BACK TO A MORE CIVILIZED CONVERSATION ?! PLEASE !
He asks not wanting to see two clerics of a good deity coming fighting against each other.
We are not robbers, we are not necromancers, we are PATHFINDER ! now I think it off, it could be true... Someone inside this coffin robbs us and take what he robbed inside his tomb. We need to get it back as it could lead us to more stolen knowledge.
But it was too late, and the priestess decides to attack, fool she is.
He draws his sap and attacks to protect his comrades.
Sap: 1d20 + 6 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 6 + 2 = 17
non lethal damages: 1d6 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 4 + 2 = 9
Untir Jonrot
|
What is wrong with these wetlanders? Is their confidence in their gods so low that they need to fight to defend their honor on their behalf?
Not wishing to hurt the priestess who despite her grating personality was just trying to do her job, Untir steps away from direct melee range of her, and fires a beam of blinding ray at her.
blinding ray, melee: 1d20 + 3 - 4 ⇒ (6) + 3 - 4 = 5 vs touch AC or blinded if 1HD, dazzled otherwise, for 1 round
Carini
|
Absalom has strange customs if necromancy is so reviled. But still, that's not our purpose here. Carini just shrugs as the two priests argue, but draws up her guard as she realizes there will be a fight. She lets her guisarme fall to the ground as she draws her sap to attack.
Sap: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11
Damage, nonlethal: 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6
"This is ridiculous, but it will be easier to achieve our goal if this bigoted priestess were unconscious."
Walt "Animal" Mitty

Seeing the woman turn hostile towards his friends, Walt becomes an animal and starts swinging a hooked hammer at her.

Zootloot sees the situation escalating out of control and decides to act. He unslings his one-string guitar and starts to play and sing. His music is directed at the priestess. Plying her with all his charm he attempts to fascinate her with his performance.
Bardic performance: fascinate. CD 13 will save for her
Pietro Slaszval the Boisterous

"I LIKE HER! SHE'S FEISTY! Though I took her for one of those clerics that follow 'for asthma'. You'd think that someone like her would have a sunnier disposition wouldn't you?"
Pietro holds out his fist like he was offering the mad follower of the Dawnflower a bunch of roses hoping she will take the bait bludgeon and him so that he can use the momentum to send his arm and gauntlet in huge loop, back and over his head and crashing down upon her crown.
unimproved unarmed strike (str surge): 1d20 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (13) + 2 + 1 = 16 nonlethal: 1d3 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
"Maybe it is a case of too much sun? HAHA!"
Zootloot
|
Ok. Didn't know that about fascinate but it makes sense. Changing my action to a trip attempt.
Zootloot ponders for a bit on what to do. He doesn't want to see the priestess killed but he also doesn't want to see Hinson or any of his friends killed either. With a flash of inspiration, or maybe folly, he decides to trip her. Maybe if she is on the ground someone can jump on her and restrain her.
trip: 1d20 - 2 ⇒ (14) - 2 = 12
GM Aerondor

The priestess seems unimpressed with Pietro. She lashes out again with her scimitar as he tries his own attack (which bounces off the heavy armour she wears under her robes). Zoot almost manages to trip her, but not quite.
AOO: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10

ugh?: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (19) + 5 = 24

A fountain of blood emerges from the priest.
"How dare you insult the bringer of light in her own house!"
