Hi Everyone,
I've created two potential characters for this scenario. A Varisian human slayer who fights with a grappling hook or a gnome inquisitor of Shelyn who is passionate about cooking. I'll play whichever character is best for the group. Let me know what you are playing.
Looking forward to gaming.

Toban Tangletop

Hi Everyone,
TrinketMike here. Decided to play Toban Tangletop, a gnome inquisitor of Shelyn. Looking forward to gaming with you all.
| DM DoctorEvil |
Good. 4 are here, and the 5th PM'ed saying he would get something posted soon. I ran out of time to get the Gameplay open today, so that should happen tomorrow.
Looks like we have fighter, swashbuckler, inquisitor and druid so far. No arcane caster, but we'll see what our 5th comes up with. May have a 6th as alternate as well.
Does everyone understand how to format posts in game? Make dice rolls etc? Or do we need to start there? Does everyone have a PFS and character number? First characters are -1, then -2 etc. Your PFS number is uniquely yours and helps track in organized play regardless of location.
Let me know the above as we get organized for this game.

Hi Doctor Evil,
My wife has been helping me with formatting posts and all. Starting to get the hang of this. Should be good to go. Yes, I have my PFS number.
Thank you.
Harkus

@DM DoctorEvil
Yes, I believe I understand at least the basics of formatting posts. I understand how to use bold, italics, how to roll, etc.
I also have a PFS and character number. If you need it, it is 87661-4. It is also on Harkus's profile should you need it in the future.

with the silly "How to format your text" button not working for a lot of people, I have this bookmarked. manually formatting instructions

Hey guys sorry. Was off on a ski trip this weekend and just got back home tonight. I built this dungeon delver ranger, but if we need an arcane caster, i've got a fire elemental sorcerer ready to go.

Glad you could join us Sekell. I did agree to add a 6th player to the game, so they may be posting soon. An oracle, if I recall correctly.
I will be opening the Gameplay tab shortly so feel free to dot in and/or respond to the opening post as you see fit.
This scenario is intended to by the end of your training as a Pathfinder and at the end you will be free to join other Society missions. No worries if you've played other missions already, just go with it.
If you have questions about mechanics, let's discuss here. Good Luck!
Lady Naysha

Hello! I am here!
I am RabbitAlmiraj and I will be playing Lady Naysha. She is an oracle who thinks she gets all of her magic powers from Miss Whiskers, her rabbit stuffed animal. She is lots of fun!
Thank you for letting me join!
And HI DAD! I SEE YOU!
OH! And I am only six years old!

Hey DM Doctor Evil, i'm going to change Sekell's heal skill to a knowl(eng) skill if that's okay. I feel it fits better with him thematically.

I think that's still okay at this point. Hasn't mattered, typically you can make changes to PC while still level 1, but not in the middle of a scenario. After level 1, you have to follow retraining rules.
| DM DoctorEvil |
Guys, this is a beginner game for both PBP and for Pathfinder rules in general. AS such, I am prvoiding a lot of extra documentation in OOC in the combat posts, and also giving the benefit of the doubt whenever possible.
Don't be offended or feel slighted if I correct your posts, or offer a rule that refutes you or a suggestion that you didn't think of. Should be a learning experience, not a criticism.
Swarms are tough, even for experienced players, but good to get right out of the gate to show what's needed sometimes. Janira has some items that unprepared PC's can get if they move close to her, she will hand them to you.

So with saying I would be Withdrawing earlier, I never said what direction that Withdraw was in. How will this work out?
Harkus
|
Hey DM DoctorEvil, it seems like an obvious question but is that Str damage considered a condition?
I'm just wondering what the expectation is in PbP games when ability damage happens. Do I simply put it in Active Conditions, or go through my character sheet and correct everything with the new stat until it's healed?
| DM DoctorEvil |
Not truly a condition, but you can list it there so it's obvious to you and I. It is likely temporary, so re-working your entire sheet for it is hard. You can just make a notation out the side or at top. Somewhere that it sticks out.
ON a paper sheet, there is usually a box next to the ability scores tht you can edit or modify as things change.
Really, how you keep the records is up to you, as long as you and your GM can find it when needed. If for some reason you don't get it healed up before the end of the adventure, we'll discuss how to resolve then.
Like I said, a night's rest heals 1 pt of ability score damage and that's the surest way to bring it back.
| DM DoctorEvil |
Please note, I will be leaving tomorrow AM for Spring Break/Campus visits with my family. AS such, I may be delayed or delinquent in posting. I will try to get on should circumstances allow, but can't make any guarantees during this week.
We plan to return Saturday evening, so should return to somewhat normal schedule by then.

Just want to make sure you understand that the loot from Janira's pack is yours to use during the course of this scenario, but not yours permanently, unlike regular table-top games. In PFS, you must "buy" the items from the Chronicle Sheet if you want them as part of your character's inventory going forward to next adventure. In that way, everyone has the ability to "buy" the same item, even though only one was found. Keeping track of what you buy from each Chronicle sheet is part of the record-keeping responsibility of each player. And any future GM should be able to back track through your Chron sheets to determine where existing items came from.
More to come on Chronicle Sheets at end of adventure, but feel free to use Janira's gear, with the understanding that a) you can't keep it unless you buy it later and b) if you use it now, it may still be on the Chron sheet to get again at adventure's end.
Finvarra Acorntosser
|
oh yeah, forgot that
Toban Tangletop

Sounds good. Naysha and Toban have these items listed in temp gear.
Finvarra Acorntosser

going to copy that temp gear listing

actions question:
I know loading a sling is a move action. What would swapping from wand to sling be considered? I was thinking of doing a 5-foot-step, switch items and then loading sling for next round. Is that possible?
Also would that cause any line of sight problems for Zekell if I was in front of him?
| DM DoctorEvil |
Depends on what you do with the wand. Stowing an item is a move action, as is drawing an item. So you'd use a full round to put the wand away and grab the sling. However, if you wanted to just drop the wand, that's a free action, but also more risky.
Players in LOS do count as soft cover for foes which helps their AC. In narrow spaces, it sometimes cant' be avoided.
Harkus
|
@DM DoctorEvil, I forgot that critical hits need to be confirmed. Should I roll to confirm now or is it too late since the round is over? I'm fine with whatever you decide is best for the game.
Finvarra Acorntosser
|
Ha! When you look over your spell lists and think, "Barnacles, should have taken these spells at our rest!" >_<
Finvarra Acorntosser

@DM DoctorEvil
Thinking of doing some retraining at the end of the chronicle. The guide says:
You can rebuild 1st-level characters using the rules in Appendix 1: Character Creation. If you do so, make a
note on your most recent Chronicle sheet to confirm
the changes.
How do I make a note on a PbP Chronicle sheet?
Toban Tangletop

I'd also like to retrain afterwards. Need to move a rank into Spellcraft.
