Welcome everyone! Please try to remember to 'Post As' the PFS character name you are playing as. I'd like to create your roll20 player tokens based on your message board avatar, so please make sure you have something close to your character selected.
I will be opening up the Gameplay tread later tonight, and linking the roll20 campaign. This is my first PFS PBP as GM. This is my first time using roll20 as a GM, but I think we'll manage.
At the present time I am a 1 Star GM and the retired Venture-Captain for Indianapolis. I make rules mistakes just like anyone else, all I ask is that you be polite when making your point (or correcting mine). Please make sure you have private messages enabled on your profile, and I'll be getting faction missions sent probably via roll20 as well. You can PM me here if you have questions or concerns, or email me directly at zizazat@gmail.com. Please don't read spoilers that don't have your name on them.
Enjoy the game and feel free to role play your character! :D
If you want to finalize any last minute purchases please do so now...you've all been summoned to Skyreach in Absalom and await an audience with Aram Zey, the Master of Spells!

[ooc] This is my first pbp like I said so I am a little new on what to do but I will be doing my best at it.
[ic] I walk to a corner and hide myself as best I can so I am not seen by anyone but I hear all that is going on. I watch what everyone around me does and am suspicious of all that are near. I have myself on all points of ready 24/7 to attack if needed and am waiting for my audience with the great Aram Zey, Master of Spells.

Just a tip for you Nightwolf, each tag is a pair so you have it open [something] then close at the end [/something]
For OOC there is a tag, but for IC there isn't. Right below the post box is a 'How to format your text' look it over a few times and you'll have the hang of it. The dice tag will become your quick friend :)
This discussion area is mainly for any kind of OOC stuff and the Gameplay for IC stuff. Mixing happens of course, but those are the general guidelines.

No problem Keladry, I'll go ahead and make the mission briefing post while you are sleeping :)
Inside of the roll20 interface I'm going to be assigning handouts to your for your faction mission. You should be able to go to the 'Journal' icon and hopefully you'll see at least 2 handouts when you join the game (a Regional Map and a Bloodcove Map). These maps are also displayed on the current 'player' backdrop in the center of the screen.

Also please put this information in your Classes / Level line of your profile.
HP | AC | T | FF | Fort | Ref | Will | CMD | Init | Perc | Sense Motive
This character will show an example of how it looks. Thanks!

Hello all, Alafair is here (sorry it was a busy work day) in US Central time and this is my "best" posting times, but can work around others as needed. Looking forward to the game.
I logged into roll20 and saw the journals. I have an account over there with an icon, not sure how to switch "aliases" at this point...
This icon works for Alafair's map icon also. Thanks!

I don't think you can have a different icon per game on roll20 (though I could be wrong and just not have figured that out) but you can use a different display name per game. If you go into the settings (right side tool bar, far right gear icon) you can set the display name to match your character's name.
I believe everyone has their faction missions assigned as a handout as well, which can be found under the 'Journal' icon. If you only have the two map handouts let me know and I'll fix that, otherwise the 3rd handout is your faction missions. If you have trouble reading the font or whatever let me know :)

The Awareness mechanic for this scenario is a skill check based on the method you adopt to try not to draw attention to yourselves. Generating certain thresholds of the Awareness score will trigger events and consequences during the game, impacting merchant's willingness to deal with you up to confrontation with agents of the Aspis Consortium.

@Mareck you should have the handout now :)
Got it.

Mereck just pointed out that this didn't make sense:
Mareck Fort: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (18) + 3 = 21 *deafened*
Alafair Fort: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
Nightwolf Fort: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2 *deafened*
Keladry Fort: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10 *deafened*
Batah Fort: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (10) + 3 = 13 *deafened*
Crew #2 Fort Save: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7 *deafened*
The *deafened* is correct for the original rolls, but I forgot the ranged touch attack for the thunderstone and went back and added it to the post after I'd determined the saves...so they all got shifted my accident.
The *deafened* is correct, sorry for the confusion :)

Alafair and I may be on the sidelines all day tomorrow and into the next day as we are moving from Houston TX to Nashville TN. Will see you on the other side of the drive, feel free to bot her as necessary.

Summing up:
Caravan Master Scevola - saved him at The Wandering Way; he will meet us in the morning outside Cartahgn warehouse to load caravan and leave.
Senzer Rulkep - alchemist with sick son; virtually prisoner of Lura Ichon; sick son Roald.
Lura Ichon - found at Sanguine Pit; minor crime lord and associate of Aspis Consortium; threatening to Senzer.
That's all I have so far.

"Also, look for a man named Senzer somewhere in town. He was an alchemist funneling potions and information to our team in the Uplands, but he went silent a month ago. You need to find out why and get that stream of potions flowing again."
The Pathfinder-in-charge wants those potions to start going to dig site again. We needed to find out what stopped them (the bad lady) and get it started again (by whacking her).

Team:
I'm traveling today and will be on vacation for the next two weeks. I should be able to post once a day, still, but DM Mark, feel free to roll for Mareck when necessary to keep the game going.

My problem right now is knowing when to add things like triumphs and and advantages when they come up! I wonder if you could run something like that here? You would need to figure out the dice I suppose...it looks to be fun, but like you said might take a bit of time to get use to the dice...
Mark Garringer
|
The only problem with the custom dice is most dice rollers online you'd have to use the lookup table. They have one in the Core book so you can just roll normal d8s and d12s etc, but that's a bit lame-o :)
It takes a bit of mental adjustment, but basically you just figure out what can be situationally good or bad and try to play off that. Succeed with Thread or Fail with Advantage are kind of interesting concepts that we don't have to think about so much in d20 systems.

That is the part that somewhat gets me...you can fail but still have an advantage. But it is fun!! Cannot wait to play again and I think I will be ordering the full version as well...!!

Fair warning, I will be in the car a fair portion of the day tomorrow and may not be able to post much over the holiday weekend in US. I'm sure I'll squeeze a little in, but perhaps just a little slower than usual.

Link to Messageboard site regarding first ever PbP PFS event here.
I will refrain from entering her in one of those games (I am DMing one) if we're doing part 2 immediately thereafter.
Because these games are PbP, it may be weeks before they finish, so I don't want to hold up the group for Part 2 if it's pending.
