So missions...
1) Save/Return Sharrowsmith if able;
2) Don't piss off the Kobolds;
3) Steal anything of value not tied down
4) Feed Kaya to the Golden Guardian....
Am I missing anything? ;-)

![]() |

RE: 4, not a bad tactic if I can still cast inside the stomach. But definitely not my first choice of options.
GM, I have a spell I use once every 2 days (Magic Aura), as it lasts for 2 days. Since I prepare spells I like to have an alternate spell prepared on the day I don't cast Magic Aura. Would you allow me to roll a 50% chance that I am on the day of prep for my alternate spell? (1-50=yes, 51-100=no)
Magic Aura

![]() |

I don't think you're missing anything Gruk.
I am prepping 2 bless spells and one shield of faith, unless the group has a different request. Longstrider is his Domain spell.

![]() |

you know kobolds speak draconic ... A scroll of tongues is possible but would need a caster level check
Tongues is a 2nd level bard spell (CL 3). If I'm reading this correctly, Ahmandé would have to make a DC 4 caster level check (DC = CL+1) to cast it from a scroll. His bonus is at least +4 (from CHA), but does it also include his own level? I.e. +2 (level) +4 (CHA) = +6?
Either way, I think his bonus is high enough to only fail on a natural 1.
If the user meets all the requirements noted above, and her caster level is at least equal to the spell's caster level, she can automatically activate the spell without a check. If she meets all three requirements but her own caster level is lower than the scroll spell's caster level, then she has to make a caster level check (DC = scroll's caster level + 1) to cast the spell successfully. If she fails, she must make a DC 5 Wisdom check to avoid a mishap (see Scroll Mishaps). A natural roll of 1 always fails, whatever the modifiers. Activating a scroll is a standard action (or the spell's casting time, whichever is longer) and it provokes attacks of opportunity exactly as casting a spell does. (EMPHASIS MINE)
All scrolls in PFS are made by Clerics, Druids, or Wizards. Tongues is a 4th level cleric spell and a 3rd level wizard spell, so that means it's purchased as a 3rd level scroll, i.e. 375 gp. In PFS we are allowed to pool resources to make purchases, as long as we use the item in the scenario. So I propose that we split the cost of the scroll (375/5 = 75 gp each). If we don't end up using it, Ahmandé will compensate everyone for their share and keep the scroll (unless someone else wants to do that and keep it).
Sound good?

![]() |

Caster Level Checks are simply that, no modifiers. Just 1d20 + Caster Level.
Generally speaking though even then, scrolls are quite easy to cast if the spell is on your list and you have prepared it with Read Magic.
I would be fine with pooling resources for that purpose.

GM Merisial the risen |

Due to weird scroll rules it will be a wizard scroll and thus 375gp or 75gp each if split between five. Kord?
Well not that weird. Due to some bright spark wanting to buy first level paladin scrolls of lesser restoration the default is now wizard / cleric is default followed by Druid and then only if specific to other casters do bards rangers and paladins get used. (To determine scroll cost)

Hi! Thanksgiving and its weekend have me busier than I expected. I will return to all of my games Sunday PM or Monday. Please bot me if needed!

GM Merisial the risen |

Arggh starting this in the run up to Christmas may not have been my best idea. I have a bit of breathing space next week but life is a little too hectic to run at the minute. So I hope to update the game next Monday. I am sorry for the delay.

![]() |

This is a heads-up that I am starting a new job on Monday. Until I have a handle on the culture and internet policies there, I won't be doing any posting from work; this will likely result in a slightly slower posting rate from me. I will do my best to keep things going, but don't hesitate to bot me if I am holding things up.

![]() |

I hope everyone had a good holiday! Merry Christmas from Michigan.
I'm catching up on all of my games, so I'm just checking on the status of this one. I didn't see any details on how long GM Merisial was thinking for a holiday break in this one, so thought I'd pop in and see when we are planning to resume?

![]() |

With a silent roll of his eyes, Pfft! Like they can count to twelve.
That made me chuckle, nice.

GM Merisial the risen |

Kord Shatterspine wrote:With a silent roll of his eyes, Pfft! Like they can count to twelve. That made me chuckle, nice.
It made me smile too.
I am enjoying running for you guys but I am aware my posting pace has slowed down to a crawl. Just to let you know my intention is still to finish this game and get thinks running at a better pace. Sorry for the delays

![]() |

I'm involved in a local Con this weekend so likely won't be posting much until Monday.
Feel free to bot me if needed.

![]() |

Anyone else have issues with posting the last couple days? My preview button doesn't seem to be working at all.
Edit works at least...

![]() |

The preview button problem is site wide. Paizo tech is working on it. Expected to be fixed in a day or 2.

GM Merisial the risen |

The other issue I had was whether casting a spell at the basilisk starts a combat. However you cast a spell in its vicinty that had no effect on it as it had more than 4 hit dice (even as a young basilisk)
It appears Gruk has a new friend.

![]() |

Sorry for my disappearance this weekend. The unfortunate confluence of a busy schedule and getting hit with a cold and cough took me out.
I'm posting this in my games first thing today, then I'll be catching up in gameplay; I should be caught up by the end of the day.

GM Merisial the risen |

Sorry guys
Do you want to continue at the plodding pace I seem to be going or do you want me to talk through how you are going to succeed at this scenario
You have been a great group and deserve far better than this.

![]() |

Plodding is fine by me.

![]() |

I’m sure there is a reason for the slower pace, and as long as the game doesn’t get abandoned or go slower I can handle a little plodding.

![]() |

I actually have Ahmande signed up for a game in Outpost. (When I signed up, our pace was still pretty normal, so it seemed reasonable.)
If it's possible to pace the game to be done by then, that would be awesome. If not, I can find another PC to play in the Outpost game, but I would prefer to use Ahmande if I can.

![]() |

I'm guessing we aren't far from done so, barring major issues, we should be done well before March 5, even at a slow-ish pace.

![]() |

I approve of your Anti-Aspis comments. They are entertaining. :D
I also have Kaya in an Outpost session starting March 5th, which coincidentally still has one open slot if any of you are able and looking to join up (Mists of Mwangi). Even at a slow plodding pace, I really doubt we will fail to complete this session in time.

GM Merisial the risen |

If my plodding pace doesnt get us finished before the end of feb I'll do a wrap up then

The mural depicts a dwarf in a cave
gazing up and shielding her eyes with
a hand.
Knowledge (history) or
Knowledge (religion): The mural
depicts the ancient dwarven migration
to the surface known as the Quest for Sky.
According to legend, Torag gave the dwarves
a prophecy that prompted them to leave
their original homes in the Darklands realm of Nar-Voth.
The mural depicts a fireball with long, trailing streaks
descending from the sky.
Knowledge (history) or Knowledge (geography): The
mural depicts a historical event called the Rain of Stars.
Before recorded history, a fireball fell from the heavens
and crashed into the land now called Numeria. Modern
scholars believe the fireball was a vessel of some sort.
The mural depicts two dwarves locked in battle. One of them
has long, braided hair while the other is bald.
Knowledge (local) or Knowledge (dungeoneering): The
bald dwarf in the mural is a duergar. According to legend,
an outcast god turned their heads bald and their skin
ashen gray. They are infamous slavers who believe that the
surface dwarves are traitors of their race and that other
creatures are fit only for service and torment.
The mural depicts four complex symbols arranged on the four
points of a compass rose slanted slightly to the right.
Appraise or Perception: The
symbol set on the south point
of the compass rose is a
stylized version of the
symbol engraved on the
piece of metal that the PCs
found inside the dwarven
talisman.
The mural depicts rolling hills with dark gray,
rocky soil, punctuated with veins of gold. A vine
covered in lavender flowers crushes a giant
lizard like a constricting serpent.
Knowledge (geography) or
Knowledge (nature): This mural
depicts the westernmost part of the
Bandu Hills.
The mural depicts a map with many rooms,
some crude, others skillfully carved and rich in detail.
Knowledge (engineering) or Survival: This mural
depicts a stylized version of Ashkurhall, the dwarven
settlement whose ruins the PCs are exploring. The map
quite accurately shows how the parts that were built later
are architecturally more impressive.
The mural depicts a dwarf with his eyes cast to the ground and
his hand held against his chest.
Heal or Sense Motive: The dwarf looks worried and
has lost much weight. It is likely that the dwarf depicted
has a terminal disease.
The mural depicts a demonlike creature with horns and wings.
Knowledge (engineering) or Knowledge (nature): The
creature is a monstrous humanoid called a gargoyle.
Gargoyles are best known for their ability to freeze in
place to look like a statue. They are also ageless beings,
and over time, their appearance changes to match the surrounding architecture.
The mural depicts a humanoid with bulbous eyes and bowed
legs.
Knowledge (geography) or Knowledge (local): The
creature is a grippli, a member of the same race of
humanoids from whom the Pathfinders gained the
dwarven talisman. If any PC has credit for Pathfinder
Society Scenario #6–14: Scions of the Sky Key, Part 2: Kaava
Quarry, then she automatically succeeds on this check.
The mural depicts a dwarf whose weapons and armor are made
of wood and stone rather than metal. His skin bears numerous
simple tattoos, and several bright feathers adorn his beard.
Knowledge (geography) or Knowledge (local): The
dwarf in the mural is a Taralu. These jungle dwarves
practice a version of ancestor worship alongside the
worship of totems based on local creatures, particularly
dragons and wyverns. These dwarves have a small but
notable presence within the city of Kibwe.

Assuming we don't die, is there any issue with Kaya purchasing scrolls with money made this session and then adding them to her spell book (a spellcraft check which I'm assuming also needs to be noted on the chronicle sheet). If no issue, then I will be working up a list of what I'll buy and be adding so they can go on the official sheet.

![]() |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |

We good to go here? I'm feeling that we are running out of time to finish up before Outpost starts.

GM Merisial the risen |

Aergh sorry guys I'll do a quick narrative post of the final combat and post chronicles. Kaya would you like to make your checks and tell me what they are for
You dont have to buy scrolls just access to a wizards spell book for scribing spells (although having a scroll for that is also a wizard staple)

![]() |

Hold Portal 25g scroll 10g scribe
Protection from Evil 25g scroll 10g scribe
Expeditious Retreat 25g scroll 10g scribe
Magic Weapon 25g scroll 10g scribe
Total: 140g spent
DC 16 spellcraft to scribe
Take 10 spellcraft for 18 on all
Thanks for all the great scenario runs!

GM Merisial the risen |

So chronicles you all chipped in for a scroll of tongues at the start have I missed the day jobs
Kayla for an extra 20 gold you can borrow a wizards spell book and get to keep the scrolls

![]() |

I’d love that, but I didn’t think it was allowed without actually meeting a wizard in the scenario. To be fair, ‘tis my first wizard, ever. But I’d be happy to pay the 20 gold for that option.
I think I rolled a day job for this session.
Yup, back on Nov 15 I got a 17.
(Day Job - Craft (Jewelry): 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (8) + 9 = 17)

![]() |

Would anything in this scenario fulfill this goal?
Defy local law or tradition in a way that assists you and your allies without endangering the mission or threatening innocent lives.
If not, Ahmande will do the following goal instead:
Forego your downtime to nonviolently fight for the cause of liberty by spending time organizing protests, freeing slaves, or delivering revolutionary material. Doing so requires a successful Disable Device, Knowledge (local), or Stealth check. (DC = 15 + your character level)
Knowledge (local) DC 17: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (11) + 7 = 18
If the first faction goal in the spoiler above applies, he won't need to forego his downtime for the 2nd faction goal; in that case, use this Day Job check please.
Perform (oratory), day job: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (17) + 9 = 26

GM Merisial the risen |

Ahmande I think you have to go for the second option
Also just realised the scroll was not used so either one person buy it or you sell it back so will cost one of you 375 gold or all of you 37.5 gold each as that’s how much scrolls depreciate. ( just for some jungle sweat it’s value is halved )

![]() |

I believe Ahmande stated he would purchase it if it wasn't used. However, I'm fine with just selling it back and taking the small loss.
I also want to thank the GM for running a trio of scenarios. That isn't an easy thing to complete. Well done.
Kaya is busy for the next couple months (she is in Outpost and Solstice Scar part B after that). But beyond that point, she would be interested in doing something with this group again. I maaaay also consider at that point, returning the favor and GM'ing a scenario for us all. If so, I'll give first priority to the players here.
Anyway, it was fun!

GM Merisial the risen |

Other scenarios that link in to this trio include dead mans debt 7-24? The before the dawn duo 2-01 and 2-02 set in Bloodcove By way of Bloodcove 6-08? Azlant ride rescue? 7-27? And probably the new season 9 Bloodcove one. I hope to recharge my batteries at some point and return to run again but that is a hope not a promise . Numbers and titles with question marks may not be exactly right but seasons are.

![]() |

I, for one, would love to keep this group together as we all seem to get along so well. That said, I know all about reality. and how tough it is to make things happen. I will keep my fingers crossed we can all get back togoether.

![]() |

Okedokie!!! I'm sorry I doubted you oh mighty GM. But yes, I will just borrow a spellbook in between adventures and get the spells that way without using up the scrolls (40g + 20g total). If you haven't completed the chronicles yet too just skip the buying of the scrolls part and save me the 100g, but if you have don't worry about it I'll use them at some point. Thank you!
I'm also seriously considering offering to GM a scenario for y'all after Outpost ends. Keep an eye out for private messages.

![]() |

I did say that Ahmandé would buy it if we didn't use it, and I stand by that. It's also a sizeable purchase for this level; if the group doesn't mind taking a 37.5 gold hit each, that's a lot better on Ahmandé's pocketbook, and I wouldn't complain.

![]() |

It's fine with me as well.
I'll just take it out of the elf in trade. ;-)
