Freire is up.

Freire starts to row the opposite direction so his rowboat moves backwards. "I need to move our boat so I can hit them."

Baddie 2 swims up to the other boat and rams it.

Did Andor hit?

![]() |

Andor, if you are attacking with the rapier, you hit also.
thanks gm, yes attacking with the Rapier.

![]() |

Two things, 1: thank you for the designation chance, sorry if I was being a pain. 2: Is the water still standing level or we talking swim checks now?

![]() |

Well now, this looks interesting. I think I will start Freire off by making a swim check as he is wearing Full Plate. If he makes it, he will pull out his dagger (I am always amazed at how many players don't carry one) because it would not be realistic for him to swim and use a two-handed weapon at the same time.
Freire treads water and tries to move over to the baddie nearest him.
Swimming: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (14) - 1 = 13
Having been able to swim, Freire draws his dagger and dogpaddles over to the nearest baddie.
He then stabs the baddie with his dagger while also mumbling a prayer to Iomedae about keeping sharks and krakens away. And also lobsters! Those things are horrible in both their living and dead state!
Dagger Stab: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (16) + 7 = 231d4 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6

deep water needing swim checks

Beat It Flat |

Sek connects twice and takes out the other Sahugin.
Combat over.
You right your row boat and continue a little farther until you spot the Hydra’s Fang a small galliot

![]() |

Hello GM! Is it possible to be stealthy with the boats? What exactly do we see on the Fang in terms of activity? Are there any entrances to the ship that we can see? Oh one more thing: Do we actually know how "... tablets of extreme historical value to our organization" look like?

Beat It Flat |

The ship is anchored in the bay, and appears to be waiting for additional crew members to return. The easiest way on to the ship, would likely be to climb up the anchor chain, followed by climbing the flat sided stern. The most difficult would be to climb the rest of the ship walls which are curved. You are pretty sure you would recognize the tablets for what they are, if you should happen to see them.

![]() |

I suggest we go up the chain, with the sneakier folks slightly ahead of the rest of us.

![]() |

"I definitely will not be able to sneak aboard or move silently. (-5 to stealth). As much as I would like to be in the lead in order to deal with potential enemies, this is a situation which calls for stealth, so this is a place for Amerel to lead the way!"
Freire smiles at Amerel. "If you run into trouble, just shout out and I will come to your aid, my friend. My greatsword and I will come to your aid."

![]() |

"Very well, let's get going."
Amerel looks up carefully as he climbs to see if he is noticed.

![]() |

Andor looks at all of you a little shyly "I think I am the weakest link here. I should go up last so that the good fighters are already on the ship, what do you think?"

![]() |

Sek says, "good luck" to Andor casting guidance and patting him on the shoulder, then casts it on himself and proceeds arm over arm to try and climb the chain.
Climb: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 2 = 18
Andor with 5 strength I would recommend double checking encumbrance. If need be Sek can carry some stuff for you.

![]() |

"After you, Ratesh! Let me give you a boost."
[ooc]I will go ahead and make my check now so I don't hold up things."[/b]
Freire casts Guidance on Ratesh and then himself.
Climb Check: 1d20 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (19) + 3 + 1 = 23

![]() |

Thanks, I should be exactly at the limit of light encumbrance. :-) Thanks for the offer!
He looks at Sek with a lot of respect then says: "I will be the last to try. I might fall on your heads, and that is not a joke!"
After everybody has climbed up and they can also support him and pull the rope up, Andor tries to climb up.
climb: 1d20 + 1 - 3 ⇒ (3) + 1 - 3 = 1
Andor slips and falls down I suppose? :-)

Ratesh will begin making the climb shortly after Amerel.

"I can lower a rope to him and he can tie it around his waist so I can haul him up."

When Amerel reaches the deck he sees:
Thick coils of rope, block and tackle, cleats, and other assorted
objects, along with hatches and slightly raised cabins,
effectively make the deck into an obstacle course.
There are 2 crew men and someone you can assume is DARSIELLE DU MOIRE.
Amerel surprises them so he may take a surprise round action. Everyone else is still in the process of climbing and not acting in the surprise round. Andor is still in the row boat after failing his climb check.

![]() |

Amerel tries to sneak as he moves over 5',(not sure if it's difficult terrain or not), drawing his rapier at the same time. He then tries to attack the crewman from behind.
stealth: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (19) + 9 = 28

Drawing a weapon is a move action, therefore uses the 1 standard action that you get in the surprise round. Unless you have Quickdraw, you cannot make the attack as well.

Is everybody still hanging to the rope? If no Andor climbs up, but if yes Andor delays until everybody is up and then tries to climb up again.
climb: 1d20 - 3 ⇒ (15) - 3 = 12
I do not know if that is enough so Andor spends a panache point to roll a d6 on top; 4/5 panache remaining.
climb: 12 + 1d6 ⇒ 12 + (3) = 15
When Andor is on the ship he will draw his weapon.

![]() |

ratesh continues the climb and if possible moves away hidden from view.
Climb: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6
stealth: 1d20 ⇒ 16

Beat It Flat |

Amerel is above #2.
The rest are still on the chain, so they will finish their climb on their initiative, but Andor and Sek will need to delay until Freire moves.
No additional climb checks are necessary, as Andor makes his check with the help from the panache pointe.
The rest of the climb will be a move action.

Beat It Flat |

New Initiative order:
Amerel
Ratesh
Crew 2
Freire
Sek
Andor
Du
Crew 1
So Amerel can act, Ratesh finishes his climb and attempts to remain hidden.

![]() |

Freire climbs up onto the deck. Seeing potential enemies and someone who may very well be an evil pirate, he decides to cast a spell which may be particularly effective against Darsielle du Moire and his minions. Freire casts Burst of Radiance and centers the burst effect so that it will encompass the three bad guys but not Amerel or himself. I center it above everyone and back so the radius of effect is on them and not us.
Gotta love this spell as the damage affects those with evil alignments with no save.
"Darsielle du Moire? Your reign of murder and death is at an end. You may surrender and face justice or die at the end of my blade. The choice is yours."

![]() |

Not sure if I can sneak attack #2 or not. I think I can since they did not perceive me, but I'm not the GM. I will include the extra damage roll, just ignore if I can't or if I miss again.
melee attack vs. crewman#2: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12

The DC is 15.
