Welcome to "Of Beginnings". We will be starting in the town of Wellspring, characters getting to know eachother and gearing up for the journey to Kivud's pass.

From there, who knows where well go. :D

If folks put together a reasonable description of there character I can make a rendering of them.

I'll need height, build, hair color/style, eye color, skin color, etc.

HP4/11 AC15

Raivin is massive. 7 feet tall, 290-300 pounds of pure beefy mass, with long, greasy white hair and olive skin. His face is heavily scarred and disfigured (notably his eyes are slightly different shapes since a broken eye socket healed crooked), having been kicked and clubbed repeatedly over the course of his life with only natural healing to try and put his bones back where they were.

HP4/11 AC15

So, wait, we have TWO people scraping the underside of Large creature size in this group? Hope we never have to go anywhere incognito.

Yeah, most of you went with some variations of hitters...the opposite of a group of glass cannons...so that's nice.

We'll see if you can make it without a divine caster I guess. *evil GM grin*

Tess is 7 foot 6....
And it is due to Ulfen heritage, and some of her celestial heritage from a big celestial giving it a boost...

I'm guessing the other 3 will be more at average heights...

Silver Crusade

Male Aasimar Zen Archer 1; HP 13/13; AC 14, T 14, FF 13; Fort 6, Ref 3, Will 5; Init 3: Perc 7; Darkvision 60'

Hi all. Aran is 6 ft tall and a scrawny 165 lbs with silver hair and flame red eyes. He has no visible scars and usually dresses in a simple monk's outfit. He wears his hair in a braid like the avatar pic but silver instead of black.

I can reskin to become a divine caster if allowed with my high wis. Won't be much of a combat healer with low cha though with the high con, I can probably afford to just walk up and cast cure spells.

Let me know if y'all want me to change before I post in the gameplay thread. Background can stay pretty much the same though I might just change the deity.

I think it is fine that there isn't a divine caster in game...could be interesting to see how you guys manage with that challenge.

Sarrissa is 5'6" and approximately 96 pounds with brown eyes, sandy blond hair down to her shoulders, and a thin, athletic build. She wears studded leather armor dyed dark brown with matching knee high boots and tan-beige breeches. Around her neck and shoulder rests a dark green hooded cloak. She carries an elven branched spear polearm in hand, an elven curved blade across her back (left shoulder), and a composite longbow slung over her right shoulder.

No divine caster is a challenge, but cure light wounds is on the skald list. Even if Titania doesn't have it, we can always get a wand later on. In the mean time, tactics and caution would be a good idea.

Investigator 2 | Alchemist 2 AC 16 | HP 27/27 | Fort 4/ Ref 9/ Will 3/ Init +2 | Darkvision 60' | Perception +17 |Stealth +9 |

I feel we might be best with a "best defense is a strong offence" approach.

The half-elf has tussled white hair and stands at about 5'10". He keeps a dark cloak wrapped about him and a half face mask when in the field. He says it prevents others from seeing the steam rising from his breathing when staying hidden, but he may also think it looks good.

I think the game is waiting for you guys to post in your first post

Fenlin Dell, I can't complete yours until I see data in your profile, that and the profile needs to be filled in encase the GM needs to bot you.

All the data needed for hitting is in the recruitment post, but it would be easier to get to on the profile.

Anyone know if there is a way to change font properties besides bold and italics here on the boards? If I am going to have multiple NPCs talking it would be helpful that have different colors or typefaces or something to work with.

Nope, if you have Multiple NPCs best to put each NPC having one post.

I'll use my Generic NPC Aliases to do an example Below

Barmaid:
"Here's Your order of Mutton, love.."

Ah...I see said the blind man.

"...Mutton love..." ha.

Drunken Customer:

"I'll take a bit more of the Ale with my supper."

Barmaid:
"That'll be another 5 copper to your tab then."

So now you have an example of Generic aliases in use for a Multi-NPC part.

Actual game using the Generic NPC Aliases

On the Campaign Info tab I have dropped a link for Party Inventory. It points to a google sheet for you guys to track your stuff as well as anything that is up for grabs amoungst the party (one of the pbps that I am a player in uses the sheet, I like it).

It helps keep track of carrying capacities and what not.

When you have an opportunity if you could throw your equipment and sundry items you are carrying on there...it would be a huge help.

I believe everyone with the link should be able to edit. If you run into problems let me know.

Point of clairty, you will want to fill in the information on your character's tab (one tab for each character).

There are formulas that will pull totals from your tab to the party totals.

I filled in most of the data on Titania's tab as an example, based on information from her profile.

Investigator 2 | Alchemist 2 AC 16 | HP 27/27 | Fort 4/ Ref 9/ Will 3/ Init +2 | Darkvision 60' | Perception +17 |Stealth +9 |

This looks pretty cool. Now I just need stuff.

We'll work on it.

Silver Crusade

Male Aasimar Zen Archer 1; HP 13/13; AC 14, T 14, FF 13; Fort 6, Ref 3, Will 5; Init 3: Perc 7; Darkvision 60'

done filling out. Being Monk sucks. I just realized I rolled starting gold for sorcerer in the recruitment thread.

Here's my actual starting gold roll.
poor: 1d6 ⇒ 2x10 = 20 gold

I can't afford anything lol.

New NPC - Test

It's Jacob the Butler!

To address a possible question brought up by Sarissa, the estimated 7 day travel time is if you guys walk the trail. If you procure horses (somehow) it would be about half that. If you ride in a wagon or caravan of some kind you would probably make it in 5.

I will be taking travel arrangements and size of target into account when determining DC for any possible random encounters, so there is certainly an in game impact to the decision.

Not sure if you guys can get 5 horses that will carry you on your budget, but I am willing to let you play out the decision making and procurement process.

Aran, the character creation rules for wealth were better of Average or Dice roll.

Since you came out at 20 gold you actually round up to 35.

Congratulations! Don't spend it all in one place ;)

Two light horses and a medium wagon would run about 225 gp and carry 2,000 pounds. Or a light wagon and one light horse would be about 125 gp and carry 1,000 pounds. We can afford the light wagon and the wand.

I want you guys to make your own decisions about how to spend the money, but I want them to be informed decisions.

Because of that, I would recommend you look over the Environmental Rules, especially regarding Hunger and Thirst, and then take a look at your current travelling supplies.

You may be able to supplement those supplies on the road through survival checks...but like I said, I want you to be able to make informed decisions.

Investigator 2 | Alchemist 2 AC 16 | HP 27/27 | Fort 4/ Ref 9/ Will 3/ Init +2 | Darkvision 60' | Perception +17 |Stealth +9 |

So, food and water are an obvious must. Given the time of year, are we expecting extreme heat or cold? Perhaps a climbing kit and or some knotted rope.

Late spring...moderate temperatures heading into colder areas if you decide to scale some mountains.

No need to continue to discuss in character.

Some of you have already brought the logistics her to the OOC side of things...feel free to discuss here and put a list together. Then if you need to tell Jacob anything before you go find a bed for the night you can, and we can scene change to morning post shopping trip and letter pickup, heading out the city gates.

Investigator 2 | Alchemist 2 AC 16 | HP 27/27 | Fort 4/ Ref 9/ Will 3/ Init +2 | Darkvision 60' | Perception +17 |Stealth +9 |

"...if you decide to scale some mountains..." like that would ever happen on a search and rescue. Thinking it won't be a choice. Lol

*shrug* who knows where the adventure will take you. Well I mean, I do...but it would take all the fun out of it if I told you now.

Ah the joy of planning when you are short on info. *evil grin*

your close on the grin, it should be
Evil GM Grin....

I save that one for later...

This one is more along the lines of a Capricious Cheshire Grin

Thought you guys might like to see that I am working diligently in the background on things that will be in the future.

I have finally finished getting the map for the main part of this one shot built out in excel so I can take images of it with 5' squares, just like a battle map in a face to face pen and pencil...

Of Things to Come

I need to get a couple of other maps built in case you take us down different paths. And then of course you will definitely take it entirely off the rails at least once or twice, and I will just have to wing it.

:D

Silver Crusade

Male Aasimar Zen Archer 1; HP 13/13; AC 14, T 14, FF 13; Fort 6, Ref 3, Will 5; Init 3: Perc 7; Darkvision 60'

Yes! 15 more gold. I'm rich!

Dangit. I was gonna suggest I can take Create Water but I was thinking of my hunter, not zen archer.

We definitely need healing so:
Wand of CLW 10 charges 150gp
Light Wagon with Light Horse 125gp

If everyone buys a kit, they usually come with 5 days of rations as well as rope and bedrolls, etc.

Maybe buy another 10 days worth per person since we're not that great at survival:
50 days trail rations 25gp

That pretty much blows our 300 gp advance but survival comes first. I'm an archer and don't even have a bow yet. Can't shoot arrows if I'm dead from starvation y'know.

Silver Crusade

Male Aasimar Zen Archer 1; HP 13/13; AC 14, T 14, FF 13; Fort 6, Ref 3, Will 5; Init 3: Perc 7; Darkvision 60'

I will buy 2 x acid flasks. Something about nature that brings out the swarms.

Here's a list of items we could use:

Climber's Kit - 80 gp
Grappling Arrow - 1 gp - Sarrissa has a bow
Silk Rope (grappling arrow has to be tied to a silk rope apparently) - 10 gp
Crowbar - 2 gp

Also, since GM mentioned something about colder...Cold Weather Gear unless someone can cast endure elements on all of us. I used my free 10 gp outfit on that.

I can contribute 1.9 gp (lol) to the pot. How much does everyone else have?

Investigator 2 | Alchemist 2 AC 16 | HP 27/27 | Fort 4/ Ref 9/ Will 3/ Init +2 | Darkvision 60' | Perception +17 |Stealth +9 |

I'm sitting at 15 gp as well. I hope rocks for my sling are free, lol. need a kit with a bed roll or something. Unfortunately my Endure Elements is self only.

Silver Crusade

Male Aasimar Zen Archer 1; HP 13/13; AC 14, T 14, FF 13; Fort 6, Ref 3, Will 5; Init 3: Perc 7; Darkvision 60'

Kits are cheap and very helpful. Pathfinder kit for example. There are other cheaper ones you can check out too.

Investigator 2 | Alchemist 2 AC 16 | HP 27/27 | Fort 4/ Ref 9/ Will 3/ Init +2 | Darkvision 60' | Perception +17 |Stealth +9 |

I am fine with what Aran has summed up in his proposal. I like the kits too. I can afford the one you pointed out as well, so I will try and pick that up too.

Silver Crusade

Male Aasimar Zen Archer 1; HP 13/13; AC 14, T 14, FF 13; Fort 6, Ref 3, Will 5; Init 3: Perc 7; Darkvision 60'

Anyone else have any suggestions? Will we be able to afford any other items?

Inactive

I'll buy a crowbar, a hammer, 15 pitons, and a crowbar with my own money, leaving me with 2 gp.

That still leaves:

silk rope
light wagon
light horse
saddle bags
the wand with a few charges
and a climbing kit possibly

Silver Crusade

Male Aasimar Zen Archer 1; HP 13/13; AC 14, T 14, FF 13; Fort 6, Ref 3, Will 5; Init 3: Perc 7; Darkvision 60'

We have the wagon, horse, and wand taken care of with the 300 gp advance.

Trying to summarize conversation so we can keep moving.

By my math you guys have a total liquid funds of 363.9 gc. (I added that calculation to the party inventory sheet. Seems like it could be useful).

Aran
-Wand - 10 Charges (assuming Jacob can find it) - 150gc
-Light Horse - 75gc
-Light Wagon - 50gc
-Trail Rations 10 days/person - 50 - (25gc) Note: this is 50lbs of rations.

Sarrissa
-Crowbar (2gc)
-Hammer (.5gc)
-15 Pitons (1.5gc)
-Silk Rope - 50' (10gc)
-Saddlebags (4gc)
Fenlin Dell
-Pathfinder Kit (12gc)

My Recommendation:
-Animal Feed (10 days) (.05*10=.5) I am guessing you don't want your horse to starve if you can't find grazing. (Note: this is 100 lbs of feed). Feel free to ignore if you are heartless people that don't care about your horse. (J/K)

That uses 330.5gc of those liquid funds.

Is there anything else I am missing that you guys are wanting to purchase? (Customer Service talk - Is there anything else I can add to your order today? :D)

Silver Crusade

Male Aasimar Zen Archer 1; HP 13/13; AC 14, T 14, FF 13; Fort 6, Ref 3, Will 5; Init 3: Perc 7; Darkvision 60'

I'm good with that. With the wagon, we should have no problem carrying everything. Now, I haven't checked everyone's skills but can anyone Handle Animal?

Sarissa is a ranger...*checking*...she did put a rank in HA, so yes...someone can Handle Animal.

HP4/11 AC15

Let's add a couple barrels of water, too. That's 4 gold, plus water.
