Nightflier's Midnight Game Thread

Game Master nightflier

Set in the grim world of Aryth, Nightflier's Midnight is a game that speaks of almost futile hope that shines against the darkness.

Dwarf starts to go back to his master, turning his back to some of you, leaving him open to your blades. Chops, since he is back from the brink thanks to Gilian, Solvi and Sorok have AoO. Duncan may use AoO and proceed to attack the elf.

Seeing his chance, Duncan looks at his new blade for a fraction of the second, and then strikes at Thog.

AoO1d20 + 14 ⇒ (10) + 14 = 24
1d10 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 5 = 15

Guys, don't forget that we should be flanking him, so we get another +2, as well as Ilona's +1

Female Erenlander Spiritual Chaneller 5

I should also have an AoO as I have reach. If so:

Gilian Life-link lashes at the undead: AoO 1d20 + 8 + 3 ⇒ (13) + 8 + 3 = 24, damage 1d4 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10, silver.

Edited added +3 for flanking+Ilona+1

Dark Archive

Almost simultaneously, Duncan's blade tears a chunk from Thorg's ribcage and Gil's atharak smashes into dwarf's skull, breaking it. Thorg falls on the cold stone and twitches for a moment, before he shudders and remains still.

Two max dmgs, nice :D

Dark Archive

Great work, guys. Since Chops dragged Thorg into the central chamber, he gets +1 FP. Ilona's battle cry made all the difference since Thorg's AC was 24, so she gets +1 FP and, of course, Duncan and Gilan +1 FP.

Now it's Duncan, Sorok and Solvi turn.

Everyone except Anang, 1000 XP.

Solvistania glares at the Librarian, and poinsta slender finger, where she answers his barrage of missiles with her own.

Cast Magic Missile.
Damage 2d4 + 2 ⇒ (1, 1) + 2 = 4

Male Danisil Wildlander/1 Rogue/2

Ragnar, posting as Anang

With the grappling bodies clear, the dark elf rushes to face the Librarian and lashes out with his strange elven blades.

I have no idea what the distances are, I'm assuming Anang isn't close enough to 5' in and full attack. He'll move to wherever he needs to be to Flank.

1d20 + 10 ⇒ (7) + 10 = 17

damage 1d6 + 5 + 1d6 ⇒ (2) + 5 + (3) = 10

Still in motion from his swing at the Fell Dwarf, Duncan uses the momentum and jumps towards the Librarian while Solvistania's missiles fly through the air by him. Reaching his target, Duncan infuses the blade with the power of Lan's Stone and his own, and then strikes at the enemy.

Smite evil, motherfu**er 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (6) + 17 = 23
1d10 + 8 ⇒ (2) + 8 = 10
If he is somehow not evil, then reduce the attack by five and dmg by 3. If Anang managed to flank him, then to hit roll is 25

Reflex Save 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (20) + 8 = 28

Chops lets go of Thorg in order to dodge the lightning.

Chops made his save only taking 12 points of damage, not 25.

Male Black Blood Dwarf Fighter 5

Seeing the Fell Dwarf crumple to the ground after the combined assault of Gilian and Duncans swings, Sorok takes the opening and moves ahead toward the now undefended Librarian striking at him with Umbra.
Attack1d20 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8
Damage1d10 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7

After releasing the undead dwarf, Chops rolls away from the lighting and leaps to his feat. He draws both Hope and Liberation and hurls them at the Librarian.

1d20 + 8 ⇒ (3) + 8 = 11
1d8 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7
1d20 + 8 ⇒ (17) + 8 = 25
1d8 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 = 11

In his haste, Sorok misses and loudly swears.

Could you describe the situation? Since the Librarian is still in the corridor, how many of us can attack him at the same time?

Suspecting that the Librarian might not be a proper elf, Duncan tries to figure out the truth. He tries to determine how his blow affects the Librarian, and take a peak through hiss now slashed robe to see the flesh.

Duncan:
Your knowledge of the Shadow's evil clearly speaks to you that the librarian is also some kind of undead monstrosity, but you are unclear as to what kind.

Currently Ragnar, Chops, Duncan and Anang are directly in front of the librarian, in two rows, Sorok is behind them. The girls are still in the central chamber. It's Ragnar's turn to attack. Everybody else, please hold your actions until Ragnar plays.

Great, that means I should've dealt additional 3 points of dmg if he is undead, because of the smite attack. Gil, cure his undead gay ass off

After hitting the Librarian, Duncan gets the confirmation he was looking for.
"He is also a Fell!"

Can Ilona charge from where she is?

I noticed I'm not on the initiative order. I assume that's a typo and that Ragnar hasn't spontaneously died or something.

Ragnar growls and pushes himself off the wall, another charred hole blasted in his body. He yanks Sorrow blazing from it's sheath on his back with one hand and reaches out the other as it crackles with red energy.

5' adjust to make more room for companions, cast Healing Sting.

touch attack 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (20) + 10 = 30

Damage 1d12 ⇒ 9

crit confirmation 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (19) + 10 = 29

damage 1d12 ⇒ 6

Sweet! Healing Sting is neither positive nor negative energy damage. The fact that the Librarian isn't really alive doesn't matter for the purposes of the spell. (at least not as written, your interpretation is of course the last word. I figure if anyone can be healed by ripping the life out of the undead, it's him)

Raven Spiritual Channeler 5

"Hon, if that don't drop 'im, our boy aint gonna make it much longer...

Awakened Raven

"I concur. Protocol is clear."

Raven Spiritual Channeler 5

"Yeah. Catch you on the other side."

Both ravens hold their actions to interrupt the librarian's next spell, intending disrupt his casting or to put themselves in the way and take the blast for Ragnar if it aims at him.

Dark Archive

If it was anyone but Ragnar, Healing Sting would not work on undead, but our boy is special in that way... And it was a typo. In the next post I posted that your action is next.

"What ARE you?!" hisses the librarian. "No matter. You have destroyed my dog and denied me my plaything. There shall be a reckoning!" he whisper at the end, raising his arms and saying a few sharp syllables. Suddenly, a stone curtain starts to drop from the ceiling, like the stone is just a huge piece of melting wax and in a blink of an eye it block the sight of him, dividing the corridor in two parts now.

If you succeed in interrupting the spell, I will just write that the wall has crumbled. If you do not, the ravens will be trapped on the other side of the wall.

Well, lucky me I get quite a few chances to screw up that spell. I didn't see anything about him moving before casting or casting defensively, so obviously he intends on using that Move action he's going to have left to GTFO. By my count that means:

The birds get their held actions,

Everyone threatening, including the birds, gets an AoO for the spell.

That sound right? I'll wait for your answer to post.

Ragnar, Duncan and ravens get AoOs. How long does your rage lasts?

As the Fell Elf starts to cast a spell, Duncan once again lashes at him with his power imbued blade.

So I'm not entirely sure how this would work. Normally interupting a spell is based on damage dealt, but the ravens don't really do damage and aren't trying to. They're basically trying to fly into his hands and disrupt the spell. Maybe this would be a Dirty Trick combat maneuver?

I'm just going to roll an attack for them and let you sort it out.

"Oh no you don't!

1d20 + 6 ⇒ (16) + 6 = 22

9 rounds. I gots lots left.

Ragnar only smiles his mirthless smile at the frustration of his masked foe and brings down Sorrow with all his might.

While ravens futilely try to scratch undead channeler, Ragnar slams the Sorrow down on him, but the mighty blade bounces of his skin like from a stone statue, leaving only a slight insignificant cut behind.

Young knight drives his sword through the undead flesh and blade suddenly shines with the crimson light. Librarian roars in pain, arms still spread like the wings of a carrion bird. "Damn you!", he screams. Concentration1d20 + 15 ⇒ (11) + 15 = 26 His undead body shudders and the wall of stone that closed the corridor briefly dissolves into motes of dust.

Since this action hasn't gone off, I'll change it up a bit. I forgot that Chops, being large has 10ft reach so he isn't hurling the axes, he'll instead leap over the tops of his buddies and attempt to grapple the librarian.

"His skin resists our blades!" Anang cries in anger and surprise as Ragnar's massive sword crashes down ineffectually. Calling on decades of knowledge bourn of fighting demons in the darkest jungle, the Danisil knows what must be done.

"We must rely on magic!"

Knowing his own weapons will be all but useless, he instead concentrates on helping his companions. "Duncan, hit him again!"

aid another to Duncan
