Male Human Fighter 2 (26/26) AC 22|F+5|R+2|W+2|P+3|Init+2

Ok, thanks for clarifying. The meeting is in a private dining room so now you’re good to speak openly.

Dante frowns. “Lugen did not mention Sydney to me at all. Glifdore?” The dwarf shakes his head.

Gray raised an eyebrow at Ziera, but held his mace in only a ready position, for now. Maybe the threat of her spider getting splattered all over the wall would draw the enchantress out. His eyes flit around to the others as they speak, adding his own opinion when it seemed they were silent for a minute.

"So it seems we have two objectives...this Dice Drem and Lady Rosalie. Both probably in attendance at the Ball later today. So how do we wish to approach this?"

Male Human NG Vigilante(Warlock) 7 | HP 56/56 | AC 18 T 13 FF 15 | Fort +6 Ref +10 Will +7 | CMB +4 CMD 17 | Init +4 Perc +7

"I don't know much about this Dice Drem," Antonio answered. "So if we could find out more that would be good. I don't expect to find anything too nailing on them, as anyone in their position would keep secrets as they are - secrets."

"Finding Sydney would be a priority, but with the Ball so close I don't think we'll have the time. The spider is our only lead, and Sydney is no doubt somewhere quite hidden. If we have the opportunity, perhaps a bit of magic could help, no?"

Find a way to hold that spider, and someone go invite Morgrim in here. He'll have more information if that's what is needed.

HP 38/38 | AC 20 T 15 FF 15 | F +4 R +8 W +8 (+10 vs non-Zon Kuthon divine) | Perception +12 | Init +8

Gray nodded to Ziera and promptly left the room, looking for the well-connected dwarf. If and when he sees him, he makes eye contact and beckons Morgrim to join the group in the private room.

Gray:

The scene outside is very different from the one you left. Though you have been talking for only a few minutes, most of the barroom guests have cleared out. The barman is still there, but now he's brandishing a club. It's clear why, there is a group of 10 men brandishing weapons of there own. They and the barman seem to be shouting at each other, though you cannot hear any actual words.

Because of the silence, it seems that the men have not noticed you, all of them are focused on the barman.

Gray’s face split into a wide grin at the prospect of the pending violence. The suffering such a beating would impart would be sweet to behold. But alas, such an activity might bring the Guard to this establishment, and the group could ill afford that. So he walked closer, calling out, ”Gentlemen! Surely hot blood is ruling the day, but we must let cooler heads prevail. I don’t know what this is about, but let’s discuss it like civilized men.”

Gray hoped he had spoken loud enough to be heard inside the room, but he couldn’t spare the time to go warm his comrades. His tone was warm, his words sweet, a well-practiced mask that he had learned to put people at ease.

Gray:

You said the words, or at least you mouthed the words, but you can't hear anything come out.

Gray Wis save: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (10) + 3 = 13

You quickly realize that there must be magic inhibiting the audio in the area. You also know that means the words will not reach the private dining room.

Gray’s brow furrowed fiercely as he understood the presence of the magical silence, having enacted such a spell himself not long ago. Quickly, he re-entered the private room, addressing the others in a hurried tone. ”Magical silence out in the bar, and tgere’s An imminent fight. Do we flee or what?”

AC 11 (T 11 FF 10); CMD: 15; Maximum HP: 42; Current HP: 42 F +6, R +6, W +9

”Since you are suggesting the possibility of fleeing instead of staying locked away here, there is little chance that this fight doesn’t involve us. If it does involve us, it behooves us to deny our enemies any success in their actions, and therefore slip away, if possible. Is there a back way out of here, or perhaps a sideways,” he adds, eyeing the window (if there is one).

It seemed that the meeting was over. Ziera cast a regretful glance at the spider, but decided that now wasn't the time. Sydney had to make her own choice.

She glanced at Edmund and Gray. Flee if you want. See you at the party tonight. I'm going to go find out what is up.

Ziera quickly changed her clothing into a waitress uniform, and her hair color into something mundane and pulled back into a tail. Then she slipped out of the room to go see what was going on in the bar.

Male Human NG Vigilante(Warlock) 7 | HP 56/56 | AC 18 T 13 FF 15 | Fort +6 Ref +10 Will +7 | CMB +4 CMD 17 | Init +4 Perc +7

Antonio saw Ziera exit the room, and whispered to Gray. "How many are there?" Realizing his place, he added. "Not much I can do... if there's a silence, I can't even talk to them. I'd much rather join Edmund in an escape, if we can."

He turned to the others in the room. "What say you?"

AC 11 (T 11 FF 10); CMD: 15; Maximum HP: 42; Current HP: 42 F +6, R +6, W +9

Edmund puts out a hand for Ziera’s arm. ”You misunderstand me, my dear. I simply meant that if our enemies desired an encounter, we should deny them the opportunity. If you instead wish to take advantage of their plan to learn things for ourselves, then by all means. We are a group and we need to start doing things together if we are to succeed against the overwhelming odds we are facing.”

”If they are using magical silence, we need to neutralize it. I will scan for it’s magical signature and indicate to others where it is.”

He reaches a hand into an inside pocket of his coat, says a word, and a magical field of proct can I’ve force springs up around his body. He also casts detect magic. Finally, he taps his hat with his cane and illusory magic ripples from head to toe, transforming him into a younger man in servant’s attire similar to Ziera’s carrying an unlit candlestick instead of a cane.

No window in the room. You could take the stairs up to the second level, but the only other direction is into the bar area.

Dante and Vince are on their feet in an instant. Dante puts on his helmut. The two of them take positions at the door. Glifdore pulls on his buckler and holds up his earthbreaker.

Alden and Payk look around apprehensively. They both acknowledge that they will fight, but want to avoid it.

Tarken takes a firm grip on his sword, and says he will fight to protect himself and he others.

Adrien has throwing knife in his hand, and the other is still holding the cup trapping the spider. “Payk, come hold this. And don’t let he spider escape. Sounds like we need it. ” Payk nods and hurried over. Adrien let’s him take the cup, and then hurried to the door, but is held back by Dante. Vince is peering around out he door at Edmund and Ziera.

Detect Magic:

There is an oillusion aura in the barroom. It starts about one past the wall of the private dining room. It looks to be centered on a stool that is currently occupied by one of the men.

In the barroom, Ziera and Edmund come upon the same scene as Gray. The dwarf bartender is sequestered behind his bar, cudgel in hand, screaming at the invaders. No sound is coming though. The invaders are focused on the barman, and several have crossbows pointed at the dwarf.

1d20 ⇒ 8

The men do not look over as Ziera and Edmund enter.

As soon as you get a good look at the scene the silence snaps, and the bartenders shouting and the men’s shouting seems to explode in front of you. In almost a moment it is back, and the man sitting on the stool mutters something and touches the stool.

At the sound revival, several men look to the hall. They see Ziera and Edmund approaching. One of them shuffled through some papers in his hand, holding one or two up in your direction. He shakes his head. Two of then other step forward, gesturing violently towards the front door.

Was there anything intelligible during the brief time that we *could* hear? The comparing us to a page looks like they are looking for certain people, and the stool person seems to be significant in some way, but did we get anything else about what is going on, or do we observe anything additional?

Ziera, playing a frightened employee, looks scared and runs over to duck behind the bar.

HP 38/38 | AC 20 T 15 FF 15 | F +4 R +8 W +8 (+10 vs non-Zon Kuthon divine) | Perception +12 | Init +8

Gray said to Antonio and the others, ”About ten. I suppose we ought to dative together, as Edmund suggests.” As Vince peeked out the door, Gray impatiently tapped his foot. He could wait for hours, days, or weeks when need be, but he felt trapped in the room. ”What is going on out there?”

Edmund doesn’t have to fake being frightened, and instead of the bar, he bolts for the front door. Once outside, he loses himself in the crowd, casts invisibility on himself, then tries to move to where he can see the man on the silence stool through the doorway. When he’s clear of the silence, he casts create put underneath the stool. The guy on the stool might get a save, but the stool should fall 20 feet to the bottom of the pit, which maxes out the radius of the silence spell.

Ziera/Edmund:

The yells are mostly unintelligible, and without sound everybody didn’t realize everyone else wa stalking. But you think that the invaders are asking to find someone and he bartender is refusing.

nice work Edmund, what a great idea. Sorry about the consequences though.

So, I assume that I am starting behind the bar and am ready for battle (weapon already drawn, standing in an advantageous position, etc.), because Edmund had time to do more than a round of things before casting the pit spell. Gray bulled his way past Vince at Ziera's call, eyes narrowing in both anger and excitement at the chaos starting to sprout around the barroom. The inquisitor eagerly reached into his back, pulling out a vicious-looking length of chain with barbs sticking out of it and what could pass for a spearhead on the end. He started to swing it in slow arcs as he closed on the ruffians in the bar, grinning as he chanted softly to himself. A soft aura briefly surrounded him, then settled in as he eyes his opponents, deciding which one to strike first. He hoped at least some of them would see him and come to him to make his job easier.

Gray grinned viciously at the chap in front of him, welcoming the coming fight. He saw his companions receive wounds, his excitement at their suffering clear if any could focus on anything more than survival. Oh, he hoped they won through, of course, but tasting the sweet ecstasy of torment could do wonders for the soul.

With that in mind, the inquisitor narrowed his eyes slightly, sensing a new gift that he must have acquired from his dark Lord in his missing memories. He called upon the power offered, then suddenly struck out at the man in front of him, swinging the chain around so that it wrapped about the man’s torso. Surely his armor blocked most of the painful onslaught, but the more he moved, the more the barbs sought the creases in the armor, gouging and biting into the bad guy before Gray wrenched the chain away.
