Albert puts of few blocks of firewood propping the door open and then looks around for the other party members. "Say, where did the little one and the dour man get off to? Hope them faceless things didn't snatch them up, best go find them before it's too late." Bardiche in hand, Al retraces his steps looking for the missing party members.
"Damnit - the fools!" Kyffin swears. He draws his scimitar and follows after Albert wondering at the insanity of them all...

Tenebrynn |

Tenebrynn sighs, then doubles back to the door they came in by. She whispers to Heinrich, "No signs. Many doors. Could be anything behind any of them. Very risky. Exciting though. Should we try one?"

As Chalker continues working on the doors, his half-orc and older companions head back to find the two forgotten members of the exploration group.
Meanwhile, Confusius opens the nearest door to find the handles of dozens of drawers frown from the faces of numerous matching cabinets. Many of the drawers are open and their contents—volumes’ worth of stray parchments—blanket the floor around a yellow-robed figure.
She looks up as you enter, eyes widening, and grabs a wooden club that she brandishes.
"You don't belong here!"

"He asks good question. If you know we don't belong, does that mean you know who we are? Because we don't." Despite her agreement with Heinrich's line of questioning, the slight gnome seems ready for violence.

"Zandalus this. Zandalus that. I say stop swinging sticks at me!" The slight gnome then tries to slip through the angry woman's legs and into the room beyond. Thanks for including the DC with the Acro check, Tenebrynn. It's much appreciated.
As the gnome tries to dive under the woman's legs, she slams down her club on the girl's head, seeing stars but not throwing off her own instinctive aim. 7 hp; only one AoO as she doesn't have Combat Reflexes. Unfortunately, the gnome girl can't get out of Confusius' way, preventing him from striking out.

Papers are scattered around the room. A quick glance seems to show they are indeed records, but you suspect they would take hours to go through them all.
After a minute or two, Walter and Albert join you, having heard you rustling around.
For when you try it...
The other door is locked.
The other door, where Chalker is, appears to finally be coming off its hinges.

Kyffin Rhees |

Kyffin strides in, angry at the hunt, and charges, "What are you two doing? It's dangerous out here - we need to stick together as a group or we're lost!"
He then sees the woman's (presumably) dead body lying on the floor. "Who was she? What the hell are you doing?!"

Tenebrynn |

Tenebrynn looks up, a jumbled heap of papers in her hands, and adds, "What? Not sure who stick-swinger was. Swung sticks hard, though. Where's the other one? With the starting corner?"

"Fine, you want to hunt around, go right ahead. But I'm heading back, and I suggest you do as well." he nudges the dead woman, "It's not safe out here, clearly." he worries about whether they just killed an innocent, but shrugs, deciding such heady matters were beyond him today.
"You're injured." he says matter-of-factly. He reaches over and touches her, using fervor to alleviate some of the injury.

On his way by the man in the starting corner chipping away at the door, he just puts out his hand as if to block the crazy as he walks by...

Tenebrynn |

As Kyffin offers some measure of healing grace, Tenebrynn nods to the woman's form, "She's not dead. Still breathing."

Albert Hazred |

Albert heaves the unconscious woman over his shoulder and follows the half orc back to the shelter. "Ain't right killing those that might be victims themselves, 'specially when they ain't fighting back. Maybe a little rest will clear her mind and she can answer a few questions 'bout things."

Tenebrynn |

Tenebrynn shakes her head, finding the idea unlikely. "Probably not, but won't stop you from trying." She rubs her head again before looking at all the scattered papers and imagines the chore it will be to search through it all.
She then promptly drops what she's gathered and turns to follow the half-orc and janitor-man back to Winter's camp. "You worked here, right? Do you recognize her?"

Tenebrynn |

Seems accurate. Tenebrynn thought the papers looked boring given how much effort it looked like it would take. She's a flighty one!

Kyffin Rhees |

Kyffen helps Albert with his burden if it's fine with him as they trudge back to the group. "We'll need to tie her up in case she gets loose and starts attacking people."
"We picked up a set of manacles, but I don't remember who ended up with them. I'll ask around." Kyffin gets the manacles (link) from whomever carries them, possibly finding them in his own pack in the confusion, and puts them on the woman.
"I'll heal her in the morning, but I'm afraid I'm out of power for today."
Kyffin is VERY interested in the paperwork, but he's not going to extend their time out there today. The documents should be there in the morning for examination he hopes.

OK.
Feeling like you've had enough adventures for the day, you return to the chapel, passing the Chalker as he's nearly gotten the door off its hinges.
Winter greets your return with a hopeful look.
"Any luck? Have you found a way out?"
When she sees Albert carrying the woman, she frowns: "Who is this?"
Assuming you tell her...
A worried look crosses her face as Vaustin York joins her, a set look on his face.
"Maybe we shouldn't keep her in here with us," Winter suggests. "Just in case she gets free or something else horrible happens? Also, I don't want to scare the children any more than they already are."

Albert Hazred |

Albert shrugs at Winter's suggestion and carries the body back to the door being picked at by the man from the starting corner. He puts her down outside the door and tends to her injuries. take 20 on heal check

Kyffin Rhees |

Kyffin looks crossly at Winter, "This was a hospital or something wasn't it? You treated the sick here? This woman is sick, and needs our help. You would turn your back on her. Leave her to die."
He angrily follows Albert, helping where he can.
When they get 'outside' he says, "I'm without healing for the day I'm afraid. I can help her tomorrow. Shall we split the watch?" he offers.

Tristain the Chalker |

Tristain continues to peck the door to death, using his dagger to woodpecker the wood away from the hinges. He notes that the rest of the party doesn't say a word to him as they pass by and that they carry someone with them. He shrugs as they pass by and continues his tiring work.

***BAMM!***
Tristain is shocked as the door comes all the way off and thuds loudly to the floor. He puts his hands on his hips for a moment of pride. He had done it. He had saved everyone from the evil eye...maybe.
He will drag the door away, into the entry hall and put it against the front door.
"There. Now I can get some sleep. Safely. That is good."

"They treated the sick here -- I was sent to help investigate -- but obviously something has gone horribly wrong, whether it's related to the strangeness that brought the Royal Accuser or not. Now I'm just trying to get everyone out of here alive," Winter replies to Walter. "For all I know, this woman could be a doppelganger..."
"Oh, I understand your concerns, I just don't agree with the stance. By your own argument, we should never have been let through. So clearly exceptions are made. But I'm not here to overrule you. This is your show. We'll be out here." he gestures to Al and follows, wondering who the Royal Accuser is but deciding it would weaken his argument to ask.

Tenebrynn |

Tenebrynn shrugs at the exchange regarding the unconscious woman. "Could be doppleganger. Could not be. Who knows. All dopplegangers bad? Who knows. Doppleganger or not, woman swings sticks hard."
She turns to find a corner to curl up within inside the small chapel, but pauses briefly as she passes by Chalker and his so-called victory over the door. Shaking her head but holding her tongue, she continues to the chapel and wraps herself in a large cloak so that the only bit of her showing is a bright bush of red hair.

Tristain the Chalker |

Tristain comes over to find water to clean his hands after 'fixing' the door. He listens to the discussion but is plenty confused by what Winter is saying. He wonders if she wants the party to kill everyone else on sight...
He follows Kyffin out, also going to find a safe, warm place to nap.
"So...are we going out again tomorrow, huh?" The man from the starting corner asks and then remembers something. He turns to go speak with Lady Winter.
"Lady, I'm trying to help these guys find the boy and food, but I'm not very good at it. I might be slightly better at it if I had a long pokey spear or a light crossbow. Do you have any of those I could borrow?"

It's still relatively early, but if you guys want to call it for the day, that's fine. Let me know where you're planning to sleep/spend the night. Also, just a reminder if you want the option, you have the room where Praise Zandalus and the others were chained up, which *might* be more secure than out here...
