Male Magus 1 AC:14 HP{9/9} Arcane Pool: {3/5}

I don't know, is it? ba dum tsh

Ha!

Anyway, could someone please roll init(iative) for Verrick?

HPs 12/9, 2 pts str damage

Verrick's Init: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (19) + 7 = 26

Initiative:
Verrick: 26
Adoven: 19
Stanley: 17
Tyvall: 11
Dohrlok: 9+
Ellantera: 9
Spiders: 6

Map is updated; link at top of page. The spiders are ‘small’ sized for reference.

Verrick is up. As Vatters has been a bit quiet these past few days, and you all act before the spiders, I’m happy for people to post their actions out of order.

Male Human Hex Channeler Hedge Witch 1 (AC/Mage Armor: 12/16 [T: 12 FF: 10/14] | HP: 6/6 | F+0, R+2, W+3 | Init: +2 |Perc: +1/+3 [Vesnik: +5])

Knowledge Nature 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (13) + 8 = 21
Going to assume that is high enough to know that, as vermin, his Evil-eye won't work on them.

Stanley looks over to see the rush of spiders pour forth, "By the divine! Focus on not getting hit, over hitting, they are likely easier to kill than the poison is to fight off." He rushes back to the others as best he can, fumbling at his bandolier to draw one of the few items he had stored in it.

Move, to AK15
Move, draw Antitoxin from bandolier

Female Human Bloodrager (spelleater) Normal: AC 15/11/14, hp 11/13 AC 13/11/12, hp 15/17, rage 4/8

Verrick moves toward the spiders to get a better angle (AL15, please), draws back his shortbow and fires at the rightmost spider.

Attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (14) + 3 = 17
Damage: 1d6 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 + 1 = 8 Trait bonus from acting during surprise round

Ellantera wrote:

No surprise round, but he should get 1d6 sneak attack damage for making a ranged attack within 30 feet while they are still flat footed.

Yes, that's appropriate knowledge.

Male Magus 1 AC:14 HP{9/9} Arcane Pool: {3/5}

Map

Adovan ignores Stanley, and rushes forward, muttering a spell as he goes.

Move Action: Move to AO19
Standard Action: Colour Spray unconscious, blinded, and stunned: 2d4 ⇒ (2, 2) = 4 blinded, and stunned: 1d4 ⇒ 3 stunned for 1 round. Assuming they have less than 2 HD

A blinding flash of colour erupts from Adovan's outstretched hand and engulfs 4 of the spiders....

I make a 15ft cone that gets S3-S6.... but I'm never totally sure about that....

The spiders ignore the pattern of clashing colours that erupts in their midst and continue to scuttle mindlessly forward.

Male Magus 1 AC:14 HP{9/9} Arcane Pool: {3/5}

"Oh, *&*%! That should have knocked them out cold!"

Unfortunately Colour Spray is a mind affecting effect; spiders, as vermin are immune to such.

Male Magus 1 AC:14 HP{9/9} Arcane Pool: {3/5}

Yeah, I looked it up after... oh well, Adovan has to learn somehow!

M Dwarf Monk 1 (Tetori)

"Huh, some wizard..." Dohrlok moves forwards and stamps at one of the spiders.

Double move to AM16.

Correction for Verrick's damage: Sneak Attack: 1d6 ⇒ 1

Pfft. The original roll was correct, it seems. Replace +1 for trait bonus with +1 for sneak attack. Pfft.

Tyvall and Ellantera.

Verrick’s arrow skewers one of the spiders, but it drags itself on, trailing ichor (s6 is wounded).

Female Human Bloodrager (spelleater) Normal: AC 15/11/14, hp 11/13 AC 13/11/12, hp 15/17, rage 4/8

Ellantera moves up to finish Verrik's target (moving to AO18) and remove the immediate threat to her recent watch partner.

Earthbreaker attack, not raging: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (18) + 4 = 22

SMASH!

~CRUNCH~ goes the spider under Ellantera’s over-sized meat tenderiser.

"Ooooohhhh." Verrik grimaces theatrically as Ellantera splatters spider parts everywhere. "That must have hurt. Stanley is right, though - prioritise not getting poisoned."

HPs 12/9, 2 pts str damage

Tyvall winds up and hurls his torch full force at one of the spiders coming at him then plants his feet and gets a solid grip on his staff. His expression is more aggravated than worried.

Thrown Torch (Improvised Weapon): 1d20 + 1 - 4 ⇒ (8) + 1 - 4 = 5
Kn Nature (How serious is their venom?): 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10

Tyvall is not completely sure what species of spider these are, or how potent their poison is, although he knows that spiders of this size often have poison that causes muscle cramps and weakness in humanoids.

The thrown torch flies wide and the spiders all scurry forward, leaping and biting at anything in front of them.

Spider 1 scuttles right past Tyvall to attack Dohrlok, however it passes through spaces threatened by Tyvall, so he gets an AoO. It is unlikely that he’ll kill the spider, so it will presumably get to attack Dohrlok as follows. bite: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 2 = 15 damage: 1d4 ⇒ 3
Spider 2 attacks Tyvall. bite: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 2 = 16 damage: 1d4 ⇒ 4
Spider 3 also attacks Tyvall. bite: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8 damage: 1d4 ⇒ 3
Spider 4 attacks Elanntera. bite: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3 damage: 1d4 ⇒ 3
Spider 5 attacks Adoven. bite: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8 damage: 1d4 ⇒ 3

Anyone who is bitten must make a DC 14 Fort save or take 1d2 ⇒ 2 points of Strength damage.

Anyone can act for the next round.

HPs 12/9, 2 pts str damage

Tyvall swings his staff in a wide sweep trying to bat the spider scuttling past him but the damned thing is quick. The dwarf scowls then pivots while lifting the staff above his head and attempts to hammer the spider into the stone.

AoO vs S1: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (13) + 1 = 14 Damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6
5' to AO16 to flank with Dohrlock
Staff, flanking vs S1: 1d20 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 1 + 2 = 23 Damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3

For anyone that got hit (possibly only Tyvall and Dohrlok), I need to know if you did and if you got poisoned because of it, for me to do my thing.

Female Human Bloodrager (spelleater) Normal: AC 15/11/14, hp 11/13 AC 13/11/12, hp 15/17, rage 4/8

Ellantera, heartened by her initial success, dodges the bite if the spider that lunges at her and takes a swing at it in return.

Earthbreaker attack, not raging: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (11) + 4 = 15

Damage: 2d6 + 4 ⇒ (5, 1) + 4 = 10

Stanley Sydell wrote:

I'm fairly certain Tyvall was bitten; so he needs to make a Fort save to see if he is poisoned. Dohrlok's AC appears to be 16, so that is a miss on him.

Possible crit on that second hit - roll crit confirm!

Ellantera's earthbreaker smashes into the spider. She lifts it to see the half squashed arachnid still struggling weakly.

Male Magus 1 AC:14 HP{9/9} Arcane Pool: {3/5}

Adovan throws the spider that's attacking him off, and then takes a few steps back.

Combat manoeuver to throw the spider away from himself: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 2 = 22 vs it's CMD

Just to clarify, the spider is not actually grappling you or sharing your space or anything. The 'leaping and biting' description was just flavour text really. So if you want to move away from it, you can just make a five foot step or retreat action. If you do prefer to make a CMB check to throw or fling it, it will get an AoO on you first. I'm happy for you to use that 20 you just rolled towards a normal attack or some other action this turn instead if you prefer.

Male Magus 1 AC:14 HP{9/9} Arcane Pool: {3/5}

Oh! Ok, in that case, let's go with the throwing it being just flavour too, shove it off and stab it sort of thing. Also not worry about the movement.

Use a free action to use an arcane pool point and make my sword magic for 1 min.

Crit confirm?: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (15) + 3 = 18 DMG: 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (2, 3) + 6 = 11

Adoven throws the spider away and slices it clean in half as it sails through the air.

HPs 12/9, 2 pts str damage

Fort: 1d20 + 5 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 5 + 2 = 11
Crit?: 1d20 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 1 + 2 = 15
Damage?: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5

Tyvall strikes the spider as it scuttles past him, then turns, steps, and squashes it under the butt of his staff. Spider down, but Tyvall is poisoned.

Male Human Hex Channeler Hedge Witch 1 (AC/Mage Armor: 12/16 [T: 12 FF: 10/14] | HP: 6/6 | F+0, R+2, W+3 | Init: +2 |Perc: +1/+3 [Vesnik: +5])

Stanley growls a heavy grunt of irritation through pursed lips, "I thought I said defense was more important. You know, fighting more cautiously." Moving forward, he walks up to Tyvall and rests his hand on the dwarf's shoulder. Closing his eyes in concentration, he twitches slightly as his lids flutter. "Here, do you need an antitoxin?" He removes his hand and holds out the vial he had previously drawn.

Move, to AN15
Standard, Empathic Healing (Su). Stanley will now suffer any further effects of Tyvall's poison, but Tyvall still rolls the saving throws.

Verrick.

HPs 12/9, 2 pts str damage

Str Damage: 1d2 ⇒ 1

"Huh. I thought smashing them all fast was pretty cautious."

Can someone take Verrick and Dohrloks' turns please?

Verrick slides over for a different angle AL17, targeting S2 and fires again.

Attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4
Damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5

-----------------------------------

Dohrlok times his approach, seeing Verrik draw back, and lets the arrow pass by before stepping forward to assist his student.

Move to AO17 and attack S4

Attack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5
Damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6

-----------------------------------

It would be faster if I just said they both attacked and missed.

Needless to say, that is two misses.

The remaining spiders surge forward, biting at the adventurers in front of them.

Spider 2 moves to attack Dohrlok, spider 3 moves to attack Adoven and spider 4 continues to attack Ellantera.

Spider 2 vs Dohrlok: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 2 = 20 damage: 1d4 ⇒ 3
Spider 3 vs Adoven: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6 damage: 1d4 ⇒ 1
Spider 4 vs Ellantera: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 2 = 19 damage: 1d4 ⇒ 4

If anyone is bitten, make a DC 14 Fort save or take 1d2 ⇒ 2 points of strength damage.

Tyvall also needs to make another Fort save as the poison continues to course through his body (or Stanley’s body as the case may be).

All PCs are go!

Male Magus 1 AC:14 HP{9/9} Arcane Pool: {3/5}

"Urgh, these things just DO. NOT. Stop!" Adoven shots as he againt brings his sword to bear.

Atk: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (15) + 3 = 18DMG: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9

Female Human Bloodrager (spelleater) Normal: AC 15/11/14, hp 11/13 AC 13/11/12, hp 15/17, rage 4/8

Ellantera fails to avoid the bite this time, but only hisses at the sharp pain of the bite. The pain is sufficient to distract her from her stroke, however.

Earthbreaker attack, not raging: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7

Damage: 2d6 + 4 ⇒ (2, 6) + 4 = 12

Fortitude DC 14: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (9) + 5 = 14

Similarly, Dohrlok attempts to reciprocate against the arachnid facing him.

Attack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6

Damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3

Wow, sorry, all. It makes no difference this round, but in response to the bite, she will rage.

HPs 12/9, 2 pts str damage

Tyvall takes one end of his staff by both hands and tries to spike a spider to the ground with the other end.

Fort vs Poison, DC 14: 1d20 + 5 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 5 + 2 = 17
I also missed that Mothy had already rolled the Str damage, so Tyvall has 2 from last round rather than the 1 I rolled later.
Quarterstaff: 1d20 + 1 - 1 ⇒ (14) + 1 - 1 = 14
Damage: 1d6 + 1 - 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 - 1 = 2

Male Human Hex Channeler Hedge Witch 1 (AC/Mage Armor: 12/16 [T: 12 FF: 10/14] | HP: 6/6 | F+0, R+2, W+3 | Init: +2 |Perc: +1/+3 [Vesnik: +5])

As others of the group take hits from the spiders, Stanley gets worried, as he moves into a space between all three of the victims ready to absorb their affliction. He just needs to know which ones suffer from it.

Move, to AN17
Standard, if Dohrlok fails his save, Stanley will use his Empathic Healing on him next.

Someone can roll Dohrlok's Fort save.

Male Magus 1 AC:14 HP{9/9} Arcane Pool: {3/5}

Dohrlok's Fort: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (18) + 7 = 25I'm assuming it's vs poison ;)

Dohrlok shrugs off the effects of the spider's bite with nothing more than a grimace.
