Now, here's a question: is it possible to use detect magic to see the magic aura of an invisibility spell? It would seem to me to be a cheap way to get a see invisibility (though perhaps without the specificity of see invisibility), but am I right in thinking that I would be able to get a spell registering where there appears to be an empty space and infer that there is something invisible? I only ask as it is the best way I can think of to try and track Lyrie.
In specific game terms, how would it translate? a bonus to perception (or a reduction in her stealth bonus)? or a complete annulment of it? what about hitting her in combat, can it be used for that and what affect would it have?
leinathan
Obviously, the detected creature needs to be within the 60' cone of you when you cast the spell. It's important to read the specific mechanics of detect magic when determining how it works with regard to this.
The short answer? Yes, you can use it to register the presences of the invisiblity spell. However, one round of usage only gives you whether or not there's magic within the cone. It takes three rounds of concentration to narrow down locations of magic auras within the cone.

Things are getting brutal on the Eastern / Central side. I'm barely even managing to hurt these damn hell hounds. Any chance we can get word to some clerics? We've got two NPCs unconscious and Khalbar and I aren't too far behind.

I love what the site offers, but god, the design and implementation of the forum software is pretty incredibly awful. I have this recurring dream where Paizo hires me to fix it.

I've been rolling really well in several of my games the last few days. O_o I'm kind of worried there's going to be a corresponding dice drought...
Also, yes, I agree with Rhanloi: you've done an awesome job with a huge combat. It's much appreciated.

Pick ain't lying about the rolls!

....so, after a round in a table I GM where I rolled three 20s during Initiative, and 2 20s for crits, I went through all of my in-game posts, across various games, over the last three days.
I counted quickly, so it's possible I missed a few, but my current tally is 13 natural 20s, out of 45 d20 rolls.
O____o
That's almost a third.
I've also rolled a LOT of 15+.
I have a feeling the dice gods are building up to something truly awful for me. Either that, or this is the prelude to ascending to their ranks...
Khalbar Bloodsong
I just rolled a nat 20 and then another on crit confirm roll. Thanks for standing close to me...Of course, that was as DM, so Ripnugget got to smash a PC for 17hp of damage. Arrrgh!
A'letta
HP: 1d8 ⇒ 5 .. I can't remember if we roll, but with a 5, I'll be getting 'the average' anyways, hehe. I'll update all the other stuff tomorrow. Just got home from DMing my own game (Serpent's Skull) and I'm too tired from laughing my ass off at the misfortune of one of my players.
.. oh yeah, LEVEL TWO SPELLS. WOOT.

4th level is actually pretty great for me:
HP: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8
+1 BAB
+1 All Saves
+1 AC Bonus
Unarmed Damage becomes 1d8.
Gain Slow Fall (20 Ft)
Gain Ki Magic
Skills: +1 Acrobatics, Perception, Profession (Soldier), Sense Motive, Intimidate (New Skill)
And I guess I'll put the +1 Attribute Point into Wisdom, bringing it to 15.
Pick
HP: Taking half, so 5 +2 Con +1 favored.
+1 BAB
+1 Reflex
Scout's Charge: sneak attack vs foes you charge
Rogue Talent: Combat Trick --> Dodge = +1 AC
+1 to Strength
Skills:
Acrobatics, Bluff, Craft Alchemy, Craft Traps, Disable Device, Perception, Stealth, Swim
Busy weekend here, will try and get an RP post up later.
Rhanloi Ehlyss
Rhanloi will take a Rogue level this time =) Think I'll play it safe and take the 1/2 + 1 HP. Will have to spend some time adding everything in.
As for the treasure, he will be most interested in the spellbook, wand, and cloak of resistance (in order =) He will also happily use his detect magic spell and spellcraft skills to determine magical properties for everything =)
Khalbar Bloodsong
Khalbar powers up quite a bit at level 4
HP (rolled above) 10+2 =12, makes 49 total
+1 attribute to CHA, which makes mod +1
BAB increases to +4
+1 Fort
Rage Power - Knockdown (allows 1/rage trip attack w/o AoO)
Reckless Abandon and Power Attack feats improve to (+/-2) to attacks and damage.
Add 2 more rage rounds for total of 18
6 skill points: 1 Perception (4 ranks), 1 Intimidate (4 ranks), 2 Climb (4 ranks), 1 Handle Animal (1 rank), and 1 Know Nature (3 ranks).

Rhanloi: out of curiosity, what's your character concept like that you're taking rogue? :) Obviously you can do whatever you like with your character, I just know that when I'm playing a caster, I hate putting off level-ups to get to the really good spells. :D
Khalbar Bloodsong
How do you want to split the loot items? By need, by greed, or someother way? I think we can agree on selling some, and assigning others by proficiency etc, but there may be a few we need to roll-off on.
Things no one can use:
small MW breastplate
+1 Banded mail
small shortsword+1
studded leather
Things only Khal is proficient with but doesn't want:
MW heavy flail
MW bastard sword
+1 falchion
MW composite longbow
Things only Khal can use:
+1 composite longbow (+4 draw str)
Things only A'letta can use:
MW heavy shield (khalbar will stay two-handed on weapons)
Things only Rhanloi can use:
Spellbook
Things everyone can use:
Cloak of Resistance (suggest this goes to whoever has lowest cumulative save scores)
Sihedron medallion (suggest this goes to whoever has lowest HP)
everburning torch x2
4 Cure Moderate wounds (suggest everyone takes one, except Rhanloi)
1 Cure light Wounds (suggest Rhanloi gets this sinc he is out of above)
Ring of Force Shield (suggest this goes to non-armor wearer)
Things more than one person can use (and who)
+1 Breastplate - A'letta and Khalbar
4 +1 elf bane arrows - Khalbar, Pick, Rhanloi(?, not sure how proficiencies go with multi-class)
Wand of Magic Missile - Flib and Rhanloi
ARcane scrolls - Flib and Rhanloi (A'letta if any are divine also)
Pick
I'll pass on the arrows, just because I'm using a sling and don't anticipate upgrading to a shortbow. D4+3 is better than a flat d6.
Beyond that, nice breakdown, thanks for going to the hassle. I like your idea of how to distribute the 'anyone uses'. Pick's total save is a +12.
None of that gear really appeals to me and/or I can't use it, except for maybe the cloak, but I'm happy to let that go to anyone with a lower save bonus.
A'letta
You take the +1 breastplate. I already am rocking 20AC with a shield and light armor and I like my 30ft movement. I'm also pretty okay on saves, although oracles do get the shaft on that one: bad fort/rex, good will, but you often dump wisdom so there's that. In my opinion it is best for Pick, because he's 1) scouting ahead, 2) trying to disarm and undo traps and 3) rogues need all the help they can get ;D
The Ring of Force Shielding gives you +2 shield bonus as if wearing a heavy shield without an ACP. Unless Pick is now two-weapon fighting, I suggest it goes to either Pick or Rhanloi. I'm not sure how a monk would go about flurrying of blows when one arm is wielding a wall of force in the shape of a shield :s but if that's no problem, then Kyra is a great option as well.
I'll pass on all we've found =)
Pick
No TWF fighting for me, I don't think. I was considering it for Pick, and originally planned to bump Dex to 15 at this level for just that reason, but, meh, I'm not likely to ever bump my Dex high enough for the rest of the TWF tree, short of buying magical belts. As a scout-rogue, I'm gonna be doing a lot of charging, and not-so-much with the full attacks.
I won't turn down free AC. ;) But I would think that Kyra could flurry regardless, since you can use any part of your body for that-- knees, headbutts, whatever.
and yes. rogues do need all the help they can get. Sigh pathfinder rogues, why you gotta break my heart by... sucking.

Well, Flibble doesn't plan on getting into melee so he is not desperate for the ring (though he'll have it if noone else wants it). What he mostly needs is a way to consistently cause damage - He found himself in the embarassing situation at the end there where he had plenty of spell slots unused, but nothing to use in them.
If push comes to shove, he can pick up acid splash, convert one of his 1st level spells to Magic Missile, or pick up a second level spell that deals damage (suggestions anyone?). (Also want Grease and Enlarge Person, but Grease is in the spell book so Rhanloi can pick that up). Failing that, the wand of Magic Missiles would make an acceptable substitute.
Alternatively, with his money he could buy a wand of Mage Armor (better yet, share the cost with Rhanloi and Kyra, who can all take advantage of it, and it would free up a spell slot for Rhanloi and Flibble).

Rhanloi is a treasure hunter/bookseller/purveyor of magical items. He probably should have started as a rogue and then taken some wizard levels, but I like this version. He'll do a 3 to 1 wizard to rogue advancement plan. And he'll gladly take whatever items you'll give him. Need to buy some leather armor and a sharp pointy thing =)
Khalbar Bloodsong
So if we follow my suggestions (and they are only suggestions, I am open to other ideas) above, then the loot distribution goes:
Sihedron Medallion - Rhanloi (24 hp is lowest) - it also fits his RP to get teh strange magic item...
Cloak of Resistance - Flibble (cum saves are the lowest)
Ring of Force Shield - I suggest Kyra, since the others are getting nice goods, and she's left out otherwise.
Based on the above, and the posts so far, that makes the distribution something like:
Khalbar - 1 CMW potion, +1 Breastplate, +1 composite longbow (+4 draw)
Kyra - 1 CMW potion, Ring of Force Shield; everburning torch
A'letta - MW heavy steel shield (if you want), scroll of comprehend languages, 1 CMW potion, everburning torch
Pick - 1 CMW potion (and not much else, sorry)
Flibble - Cloak of Resistance +1, wand of Magic Missile 29 charges (for some offensive punch, even if a bit light), scroll of Minor Image, scroll of Sleep (these are in the Rhanloi spellbook, so he can learn them already)
Rhanloi - 1 CLW potion, Sihedron Medallion, scrolls of See Invisibility, Scroll of Whispering Wind; Spellbook with lots of spells, studded leather armor (no special properties)
Sell the rest (book prices, so half if GM agrees): small MW breastplate (350gp), +1 Banded Mail (1400gp), +1 small shortsword (2310gp), 4x +1 elf bane arrows (2000gp each), MW heavy flail (315gp), MW bastard sword (335gp), +1 falchion (2375 gp), MW composite longbow (400gp).
This adds to 7485 (plus another 8000 if I did the arrows right, GM needs to confirm that). So if we can sell for 50% then it's either 3742 or 7742gp divided 6 ways = 624 or 1290 each to go along with the loose coin of 83gp.

OK, I've checked out the rules for animal companions magic items slots and it says that avians have a neck slot, so he can use the Sihedron Medallion. If Rhanoi is willing, I will swap the wand for the Medallion, and adjust my spell list to give me some offensive power.
As an aside, I came across a reference that suggested animal companions need armour proficiency to use armour effectively; if this is the case can I swap Sovola's Death from above feat (which he is unlikely to use) for Armour proficiency.

Sure, but you can be a treasure hunter/bookseller/purveyor without mechanically being a rogue class, right? Again, not trying to tell you how to play your character, just saying that I'd have a hard time delaying my access to level 3 spells. ;) What are the mechanical benefits you're gaining from taking levels of rogue?
If you wear leather armor, you're going to incur spell failure chance. It also won't stack with your mage armor.

The Ring of Force Shielding gives you +2 shield bonus as if wearing a heavy shield without an ACP. Unless Pick is now two-weapon fighting, I suggest it goes to either Pick or Rhanloi. The greatest thing about the ring of force shield is that you can turn it on and off as a free action, so you can have any sort of attack routine that you want on your turn and just turn it back on at the end of your turn as a free action to receive the benefits of the shield.
leinathan
Just a couple of things -
+1 elf bane arrows at 8,315gp/50 arrows, so whatever the fraction is for 4 of them.
Sell price is half base price, so, for example, the +1 banded mail would sell for 700gp.
Other than that, y'all seem to be doing things right and all.
Pick
On the topic of the arrows, do we really anticipate running into too many hostile elves? If not, that's 665 GP and 2 silver for selling four arrows. I vote sell them.

No mechanical gain at all. It's all part of the story for me! Just like the 2nd level spells I took were for the character concept, not party firepower =)
Think Nicholas Flamel and Indiana Jones ;D

It sounds like you're hindering yourself, then. :-/ I'm all for roleplay over mechanics, but I don't think you should actively impair your character.
Though, as Pick said, it is yours.
