Round 5

Ulrich circles around, going to between two bookshelves, in order to fight the skeleton.

Kekkle rushes past the others and the remaining skeleton to find the real enemy. Skeleton's AoO: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9 Fortunately the skeleton is occupied with the others. Kekkle gets the scholar - or at least something that looks like him - in his field of vision, further ahead. The scholar seems to notice Kekkle, too.

Tannan (The first square provokes too. It's a threatened square that you leave.) finishes the skeleton off. It's destroyed. (You got a move action left.)

Pahleg channels divine sunlight to keep everyone healthy. (I think you got everyone in your area: Kekkle and Ulrich are both behind a bookshelf but within 30 feet of you. Everyone got healed 5 hp.)

Just as Kekkle notices the preacher in the distance, a skeleton runs from around a corner, almost blocking the way. It just reaches Kekkle. (Used a double move.)

The preacher in the distance runs behind a bookshelf, out of Kekkle's view.

Round 6

Male Sivis Gnome Wizard 3| HP: 26/26 | AC 11 | Passive Perception: 11 | Spells: 1st 4/4…2nd 2/2

Round 6

Tannan, after moving, hears combat coming from behind him with the lone skeleton. He yells back,

You guys gone bonehead, or you need my help?!

Kekkle destroys his skeleton with a combination of sword and mind magic.

Round 6

Tannan (Ah, I got confused there for a second. You had already submitted your action for round six. When you said you delayed, I thought you wanted to cancel your previous action. Kekkle's post was about the other skeleton.) goes around the bookshelf.

Pahleg follows him.

The skeleton Ulrich just noticed approaches him. Claw 1: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (15) + 6 = 21 Damage: 1d4 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6 It gets a surprising wound in.

The scholar in the distance retreats, again, behind a row of bookshelves.

Round 7

Ulrich steps forward around the skeleton, swinging his mace. 5 foot step to AD13

Heavy Mace: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (18) + 5 = 231d8 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3

(Take your time, I guess. If there are problems let me know in the Discussion thread.)

28/28 HP

Kekkle turns on his heal and begins to follow after Ulrich. He stops between two bookshelves and casts an additional protection spell on himself, anticipating a drawn-out fight.

Move to AC11. Standard to cast Shield on myself.

Male Sivis Gnome Wizard 3| HP: 26/26 | AC 11 | Passive Perception: 11 | Spells: 1st 4/4…2nd 2/2

Tannan, lets the others handle the skeleton, and goes around the bookshelf in hopes in convincing the main enemy to quit moving.

Double move to T20

Will this bastard ever stop moving?

(Just Pahleg's action left, then.)

Male Aasimar Cleric 4 | AC 15, Touch 10, FF 15 | HP 35/35 | F +7, R +2, W +8 | Init +0 | Perc +5

Round 7

Ulrich steps forward around the skeleton, swinging his mace. The mace harms the skeleton, but doesn't destroy it.

Kekkle begins to follow after Ulrich, and casts a protective spell on himself.

Tannan figures it's fruitless to chase after illusions, and goes around the bookshelves. To his surprise, he sees another one of the scholars in his path, quite a distance away from the others.

Pahleg moves forward and tries to thrust his spear at the skeleton around the bookshelf corner. The spear hits the bookshelf, but then again it probably wouldn't have worked on the skeleton anyway.

The skeleton, meanwhile, attacks its nearest foe: Ulrich.
Claw 1: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 = 11
Claw 2: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (11) + 6 = 17
At times like this, protective armor is a boon.

The party cannot see what the escaping scholar does, but:

The scholar Tannan just ran into casts a spell, steps towards him, and tries to deliver the spell via touch.
Melee touch: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (11) + 4 = 15
Tannan's Fort: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 2 = 16 (Almost.)
The ghoulish touch stops Tannan completely, paralyzing him. (You are paralyzed. I rolled the duration in secret. Let's say you got the chance to tell the others where you went and what you saw.)

Male Sivis Gnome Wizard 3| HP: 26/26 | AC 11 | Passive Perception: 11 | Spells: 1st 4/4…2nd 2/2

Before Tannan runs off, he exclaims where he is going.

I am gonna run around, see if I can funnel the bonehead maker back this way. Running around can't be done all the time.

Male Human Fighter 4, AC 20, Touch 10 (12), FF 19; HP 21/41(47), Fort +8 Ref +1, Will 0; Initiative 0; Perception -2, Bravery +1 (+1 saves vs. fear); Hellfire Private (Order of the Bonfire) 3 Con damage

Would I have heard the spell being cast over there? I'll roll perception...
Perception: 1d20 - 2 ⇒ (2) - 2 = 0
Nope!

"Damned bones!"

Ulrich smashes at the skeleton with his mace.
Heavy Mace: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 101d8 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6
But he just takes out a bookshelf.

28/28 HP

With the Skeleton in the way, Kekkle doubles back and runs for the junction between several of the bookshelves.

Full-Round to Run, moving to Z15 through AB10 and V11 to avoid AoOs

Male Human Fighter 4, AC 20, Touch 10 (12), FF 19; HP 21/41(47), Fort +8 Ref +1, Will 0; Initiative 0; Perception -2, Bravery +1 (+1 saves vs. fear); Hellfire Private (Order of the Bonfire) 3 Con damage

Round 8

Ulrich takes a moment to smash one or two books off a bookshelf.

Kekkle doubles back and runs for the junction between several of the bookshelves.

Tannan stands still, paralyzed as he is.

Pahleg goes to co-operate with the party scout, almost sensing a looming danger. Indeed, he sees the paralyzed Tannan, and the preacher.

Undead minds know not rest, not mercy.
Claw 1: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (8) + 6 = 14
Claw 2: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (16) + 6 = 22
Damage: 1d4 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9 (Ouch.)
A devastating blow hits past Ulrich's shield.

The party cannot see what the escaping scholar does, but:

The version of the preacher that just paralyzed Tannan moves away from Tannan and Pahleg.

Another skeleton emerges from the ground, and its empty eye sockets, lifeless gaze fixates on the helpless Tannan.

Round 9

Ulrich backsteps and takes a chug from his Estus Flask.

Kekkle advances in the Librarium. The path to the preacher is clear.

Tannan is paralyzed.

Pahleg (can move diagonally around bookshelves as can everyone else - I never mentioned this but some of you already figured it out) races forward to save Tannan by blocking the skeleton's way.

Just in time, as the skeleton was just about to attack an easy target. It claws Pahleg, instead.
Claw 1: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (7) + 6 = 13
Claw 2: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (11) + 6 = 17
Damage: 1d4 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7
Pahleg survives the attack, at least. Healing, at times like this, can be helpful.

The other skeleton, the one near Ulrich, sees one foe.
Claw 1: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (19) + 6 = 25
Claw 2: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (8) + 6 = 14
Damage: 1d4 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6
Almost all of the healing of Ulrich's Estus Flask is negated. This proves that healing has its uses, and limits.

The preacher that Kekkle is approaching seems to prepare for something. (Readied action.)

The preacher that Pahleg caught a glimpse earlier comes out of hiding, to Pahleg's fright, and shoots an arrow of acid from his bony palm.
Ranged touch, soft cover: 1d20 + 5 - 4 ⇒ (17) + 5 - 4 = 18
Acid damage, Pahleg has resist acid 5...!: 1d6 + 3 - 5 ⇒ (6) + 3 - 5 = 4 (Oof, tough luck! Combined with the 7 damage from the skeleton's claws, that's 11 damage total dealt: Pahleg is at -1 hp.)

28/28 HP

No point pussy-footing around now...

I charge the preacher at AI 21, but before I get to rolling all that stuff, I want to see what readied action is being triggered. My AC is sitting at 22 and I'll spend points parrying if need be (I know you want me to wait till after he posts to post the parry).

Male Sivis Gnome Wizard 3| HP: 26/26 | AC 11 | Passive Perception: 11 | Spells: 1st 4/4…2nd 2/2

Yeah, I figured I was still paralyzed lol

(Acknowledged, Kekkle. Once Ulrich posts his action I'll give you that. And yes, Tannan, it was my bad, and pretty funny in hindsight!)

Male Human Fighter 4, AC 20, Touch 10 (12), FF 19; HP 21/41(47), Fort +8 Ref +1, Will 0; Initiative 0; Perception -2, Bravery +1 (+1 saves vs. fear); Hellfire Private (Order of the Bonfire) 3 Con damage

Ulrich raises his shield against the skeleton and falls back, winding his way through the shelves after hearing the distinct sound of a cleric falling like a ton of bricks.
Withdraw action to AE18.

Round 10

Ulrich falls back, escaping the claws of the skeleton.

Kekkle purposely abandons caution, and charges the scholar in front of him. As he gets near his target, the enemy does some bizarre hand movements, and touches Kekkle. (The readied action was: when an enemy is within reach, do ???.) ??? plus ???: 1d20 ⇒ 20

Kekkle remembers the last time this happened: the hand movements are a somatic component to a spell, but no magic is happening. It's likely this one is an illusion as well... Kekkle's Will: 1d20 + 4 + 4 ⇒ (9) + 4 + 4 = 17 ...No, this one might be the real deal.

(Kekkle rolls his dice, but because they likely won't affect these guys' business:)

Tannan starts recovering from his paralysis (at the end of the boss's turn).

Pahleg on the other hand, doesn't have that many good news going for him. Stabilize: 1d20 + 2 - 1 ⇒ (12) + 2 - 1 = 13 He stops bleeding, for now at least.

(Talking is a free action that can be done outside of one's turn.)

The preacher points his elongated, skeletal arm at the unconscious cleric, and gives a command to its skeleton servant. "Show the nonbeliever a true miracle. Kill!"

The skeleton takes its time to kill Pahleg to the best of its ability. It is not a pleasant sight, but the paralyzed Tannan cannot even close his eyes.
Coup de grace. Damage: 2d4 + 10 ⇒ (1, 3) + 10 = 14
YOU DIED
1d6 ⇒ 1

The other skeleton, in turn, chases after Ulrich.

The preacher shoots another arrow of acid, this time at Tannan.
Ranged touch vs AC of, what, 5?: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9
Acid damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4
Fort: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7 (You are sickened for 1 round. Didn't bother to roll this rider for Pahleg.)
Corrosive acid burns Tannan's skin a little bit, and makes him a bit nauseous. Fortunately the effects of the paralysis wear off.

Male Human Fighter 4, AC 20, Touch 10 (12), FF 19; HP 21/41(47), Fort +8 Ref +1, Will 0; Initiative 0; Perception -2, Bravery +1 (+1 saves vs. fear); Hellfire Private (Order of the Bonfire) 3 Con damage

Ulrich lashes out at the skeleton trailing him, a cold fury rising as death approaches.
Heavy Mace: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 91d8 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 = 9

Off balance from his wounds, he just hits the shelf.

Tannan, isn't a complete idiot, and knows that if none of his allies are able to set up flanking, he is utterly useless and he might as well kill himself to save the trouble. He retreats, hoping to make it to Ulrich in time.

presuming map is correct for placement. Double move to AD19

Round 11

Next round, I will draw my estus flask, and administer to Ulrich in hopes he is able to stay alive a bit longer

estus flask 1 of 2: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6

(Double checked: Kekkle Smoughbon is still a functional character, unlike some clerics. Need his dice stuff for Round 10 and action for 11.)

(Also, Tannan: you were paralyzed on round 10. It wore off at the end of the preacher's turn. So you can't double move on that round. Or did you mean rounds 11 and 12? And yep, the map seems correct to me.)

28/28 HP

Oh, I thought I was skipping rolling because it didn't matter. I'll do the rolls and next round when I get home from work today.

Kekkle plays it safe and, though he suspects the enemy in front of him to be an illusion, he couldn't confirm it. He attempts to parry the touch.

Round 11

Ulrich is wearing out, and tries to lash at the skeleton trailing him.

Kekkle attacks the preacher. Will: 1d20 + 4 + 4 ⇒ (15) + 4 + 4 = 23

(I now realise that I've made a GM error. This image should have stopped moving a few rounds back, and everyone that saw the inanimate illusion should have gotten a Will save. I apologize for this mistake. I don't think this blunder can be cleanly retconned in the players' favor except for this: Kekkle, you can use (let's say) two move actions and one standard action. You saw the preacher doing nothing, and disbelieved it, and went on to do something else. You still have your action(s) for Round 11, as well.)

(I don't think this mistake affected anyone else's play. Tannan and Pahleg were busy with other things, and Ulrich was more concerned with the skeleton than with the possibly-faux boss.)

Tannan retreats to Ulrich.

The skeleton that just murdered Pahleg follows after Tannan.
The other skeleton hits Ulrich.
Claw 1: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (11) + 6 = 17
