Kelsin takes whatever rope the party has and goes around tying up each of the prisoners as Jaegr checks to make sure they'll all live. "How do we carry the one that's knocked out? Vanya, can you and Jaegr drag him? He's, uh, a little big for me to haul."
The dwarf shakes his head gravely.
"I'm not sure there's anything I can do for this one -- the pick caught him a serious blow that might have broken off a rib into a lung or something."Might as well go ahead and roll Escape Artist checks now to tie up the Corporal (and the woman, if you're tying her up, too) -- since you can pretty well assume they'll try and wriggle free as soon as your backs are turned. The good news is that between Wyvurn and Jaegr you have plenty of rope, so you can Take 20 on the checks.

Kelsin Illstar |

I don't have any ranks in Escape Artist, someone else wanna do this? I can Aid Another... Well, unless taking 20 on these is good enough for folks. And yes, Kelsin would definitely tie up the woman, too. At least her hands and hobble her legs a bit so she can shuffle along but not run.

Wyvurn |

Wyvurn produces his rope as he slips the Marshal's badge back into his pouch.
"Boots off now, woman. We don't have far to go, but you'll think twice running from us on bare feet."
To his companions,
"We'll tie the Corporal to her back. The other two are lost. One is dead and the other soon will be. I doubt this group would have shown us any concern at all if we were the ones to have fallen. Jaegr, help me getting these two ready to go. The rest of you cover us in case she gets any bad ideas."
With Jaegr's help, Wyvurn will tie the Corporal and the woman back to back with their arms pinned to their sides. When she is least expecting it, Wyvurn will give her a quick punch to the gut (nonlethal) to make sure she isn't flexing her muscles when we tie her up.
I'll take 20 to do this. Hopefully Jaegr will aid me.

With the two trussed up like mummies, it's hard to get them walked doen the street and into the police station, but you somehow manage it OK. Inside, there is are open cells -- but no keys visible, except on the belt of the mongrelfolk deputy/janitor, grinning insanely at your quick return. Do you detect a hidden gleam of interest in his eyes when he sees the Chancellor's Guards? Or is it just the light hitting them when the door opens? Hard to tell.

Kelsin Illstar |

Assuming all are cool with this, lemme know if not.
After putting each guard into a separate cell, Kelsin motions at the janitor, pointing at his key ring and then miming locking the cell doors, hoping the Marshal had the guy well-trained enough to perform that action without a lot of to-do.

Jaegr "Knock Knock" |

"Hey Mr....ummmm....Sir, do those keys you have open up these cells? They are going inside if you do or you don't"
Jaegr waits for the response and after he gets one (Or doesn't get one after a slight pause) he'll escort the two prisoner into their cells. Having someone untie them one at a time while everyone else is ready in case they try something.
After they are in the cells and they are closed and locked, Jaegr will ask the mongrelman, "Do you know why they would have wanted the Marshall dead? Could you show us where he would have kept his important things?"

Wyvurn |

Wyvurn will untie the two Chancellor guards once they are inside the cells if Jaegr is covering.
In goblin to the mongrelman,
"Can you communicate verbally with us in any way?"
Wyvurn will also try elven in the off chance he can speak that.

Wyvurn |

"I'd say that's the minimum we do. It's Vanya's call as to what their fates are. Messing with one's mind is not something to be taken lightly. These two had a hand in manipulating Vanya into an act of murder. It is a violation worthy of death in my opinion."

Jaegr "Knock Knock" |

"Let's take a look for any information here in the Marshall's place, maybe we can find out something of use"
Jaegr will search the desk, and unbar the iron door and see what is inside. Then afterwords will head upstairs and do a search

Kelsin Illstar |

Kelsin eyes Vanya dubiously. "So...you used to be one of them?" He jerks a thumb towards the rather feckless guards in their cells. "...or you still are, but they took over your mind? Something? Just looking to make sure you're straight with us, here. At least as straight as you can be." The grouchy elf begins a lackluster and not tremendously organized search of their surroundings, seemingly to pass the time as much as anything else.

The desk has the usual assortment of bills and wanted notices, and it looks like the Marshal was a bit behind on submitting his expense reports for expended crossbow bolts. When you approach the barred door, however, the mute mongelman, moving with exceptional agility, quickly gets between you and the door. He moves his hands in a "don't go there" gesture, then twirling a finger around his ear to indicate someone crazy, and then pointing downstairs. The then tilts his head down onto his folded hands to indicate someone being asleep.

I'm gonna have to check it out now
"I'm sorry, and I'm sure you mean well, but I'm gonna have to check it out. Please step out of the way and stay back if there is something bad down there. OK who is with me?"

Kirth Gersen |

"I'm sorry, and I'm sure you mean well, but I'm gonna have to check it out. Please step out of the way and stay back if there is something bad down there. OK who is with me?"
He looks resigned to your venturing down there, then perks up a bit. He points to himself, points downstairs (and walks his fingers to indicate that he'd be walking down the staits) -- then he points to the hourglass outside and holds up 5 fingers, then points at you, and at the door again. He looks at you expectantly.

Vanya Volkov |

"I am more than confused. I have no recollection of being under their influence, but then - I have no recollection of person who gave me the command to find a dwarf and guard him. I still don't know whether to believe in this talk of clouding my mind. I have been indulging in vodka to much and my will has suffered for it, but I know that I hate these bastards with all my soul."

Wyvurn |

"I assume he wants us to give him some time before we follow him down. I'm not sure what could be down there and I don't know if I like letting him go first and possibly alerting whatever it is or disturbing what might be valuable clues."

"You can go first, but I am coming with you, deal?"
He appears to think for a moment, then, still grinning, looks at you and pats you on the arm in an inclusive gesture, almost as if to say "You're OK, dwarf, you can come, too." Motioning the others to keep clear, he finds the right key on his ring and unlocks the door.

Jaegr "Knock Knock" |

"I think maybe you have invited yourself tah his quarters fer a bit o fun!"
Heh awesome
Jaegr will get his pick axe ready just in case and will follow the mongrelman down.

Kirth Gersen |

Motioning for you to follow him (as if you were his mommy, or maybe a pet dog; it's hard to tell), the grinning mongrelman heads down the stairs that lie on the other side of the door. He pulls the door to behind you, but does not lock it.
Jaegr:
Then, turning to you, the grinning mongrelfolk points and speaks in a clear, distinct voice.

A flash of color erupts from his hands; you need to throw a Will save (include your racial bonus). You currently have 11 hp and are not fatigued.

Kelsin Illstar |

Kelsin takes out one of his sling bullets and waves his hand over it, chanting mystically as he does so. Eventually the bullet starts to glow with a bright light. (casting Light, obviously) He moves to the door and opens it, and flings the bullet down the stairs, not trying to hit anyone, just trying to illuminate the area. "Let's shed some more light down there and see what's happening. I don't like this. Who's coming with me?" Snort hates stairs, but the disagreeable little animal nonetheless steps forward and prepares to go downstairs with his two-legged companion. Kelsin looks askance at Vanya and Caspian and Wyvurn, looking most hopefully at the militaristic hobgoblin, who thus far seems pretty good at this fighting stuff.

Kirth Gersen |

The ceramic bullet rolls down the stairs, eventually settling at the bottom and casting a dim illumination over the scene. There are papers and stacks of books all over a smallish (~15-foot-square) room, with a strong cell at the far end (empty, with the door open), a desk to one side, and an uncomfortable-looking cot across from it.
Lying in the middle of the floor of the main room, either unconscious or dead, is the body of your companion -- the clanking was obviously him collapsing to the floor. The creepy mongrelman is nowhere to be seen.

Kelsin Illstar |

Kelsin, all his most powerful magic drained for the day, grimaces and gets a good grip on his quarterstaff. He takes a few seconds to cast two short but helpful spells; one helping to guide Snort's tusks home, the other strengthening his own body, and then looks at teh others. "Well, down we go I suppose." He starts down the stairs with Snort at his side, looking carefully around for traps, or for the mongrelman about to jump out at him.
Casting Guidance on Snort, Virtue on myself. Perception check for as I descend: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (9) + 6 = 15

DM roll -- omitting modifiers, but you'll see how the die comes up (because in my home game we all -- myself included -- roll dice in the open):
1d20 ⇒ 12
Snort and Kelsin move cautiously down, Snort with some difficulty, his hooves scrabbling for purachase on the steep, narrow wooden steps. If you have to flee, you're not sure how quickly he'll be able to move back up the stairs.
Others: Following? Staying upstairs? What distance between people?

Wyvurn |

Wyvurn nods at Kelsin and draws his bow and nocks an arrow.
The hobgoblin sniffs the air and attempts to detect the mongrelman as he follows Kelsin.

Using scent here from my keen senses sutra to pick up the mongrelman
Go ahead and roll Perception -- scent makes Stealth a lot harder, but it's no longer an auto-locate. Still, a lot of bad guys over the course of the campaign are really going to be hating the fact that you have that!
Creatures with the Scent special quality have a +8 bonus on Perception checks made to detect a scent.

Caspian Barefoot |

Caspian waits to go last, staying at the top of the stairs and staying where he can duck either way, also thinking everyone does not want to get locked in....
"Jus grab him an get back up here in tha light afor the mongrelman has his way with yerselves!"
Sets a slingstone in the door hinge so it can not be closed readily....
