The Present

At first I thought this whole double time thing would be a problem, but it is something that happens pretty frequently in the genre. Maybe we can make it cool, so let's keep it up.

As Sinter jets into the sky, the night itself reaches out to entangle him.

"I'm sorry it came to this, Sinter, I really didn't want to hurt you. I'm almost sure you are not corrupt, but we can't allow you to interfere..."

Attack: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (15) + 12 = 27

Sinter Reflex save: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (18) + 3 = 21
That is a failure for Sinter. He is entangled suffering a –2 penalty to attack rolls and Defense, and a –4 penalty to Dexterity.

The night seems to congeal around Sinter, somehow grasping him in a dark, almost tar-like darkness.

If Sinter was smarter, or knew much about anything, he would know that this is an intrusion from the Shadowplane, but alas.

Of note, I am still waiting to see if I'm able to grab ChickyBaby SteelThor's hammer. ^_^

Kara's hand hover over the disconnect button, but she pauses as Shale begins...talking.

"I ain't said nothing about taking anyone to court! I just thought you'd like to go to DerGeistSpiel, lord knows you need it! And you wanna Ob-F-U-my what?? Hey! I resent that! Sure, maybe some people called me that when they found out about "finger-puzzle" incident, but they all told me they all were single!

Okay, alright, I understand, you want to decline my dress. Probably after a night of telling me how pretty I am and getting me liquored up. You have the hots for me. Look I deal with this all the time,
I get it. No need to beat around my bush."

Something about how she says that last line makes you think she actually thinks that's how the saying goes.

"And of course I deal in my own credit. I couldn't move if I carried enough cash to buy the bare necessities that I struggle through life with.

So, ya, sure, play your cards right and we'll see how deep your "ortment" goes. Although that's a weird name to call it.

Sometimes I distinctly remember posting things that I never posted. For example, I remember rolling to oppose the telekinetic grab and failing, but that post doesn't exist. Guess I'm crazy. Imagine is able to grab the hammer.

Not really sure what my options are right now. Now I could just blast away till the building collapsed around him (which wouldn't hurt him), but the neighbors don't deserve to die.

It's clear I can't see anything, and I think it unlikely I can get free, so it seems like I sit.

I grabbed you outside the building as you were flying, so you can blast away at the darkness if you like. You can't see Obsidian at the moment, so you can't attack him, but you can attack the snare. Attacking a snare is like attacking an object with Toughness equal to the rank of the power. Also, since this is a darkness effect, and you have already have one power that is a light effect (your dazzle) you could power stunt something like Environment Control: Light to light up the night sky. Maybe that would do something.

Subtle solutions or neat tricks are not really Sinter's thing. He'll just blast.

*Current Time*

The heavy hammer of STEEL flies in a mighty arc, attempting to return to its owner so it can carry on the righteous battle against the vile Luthor spawn. But Imagine screws her face up tight in massive concentration, and in it's flight the hammer slows and slows and slows... Until at last it stops, well away from its owner's grasp. Slowly it retreats further away from the armored woman, making clear who now controls...the HAMMER!

'Okay, toots, we're gonna try this again. I'm gonna ask how I can help you, and you're gonna tell me, nice and easy like.

...

Nah, screw it. Imma hit you with your hammer and THEN you're gonna tell me how I can help you. Be a good lesson for next time.'

The hammer of STEEL launches forward like the fist of an angry storm giant, aiming it's heavy head at the armored woman's ample torso.

Telekinetic throw Attack!: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (18) + 12 = 30
Telekinetic throw damage = 15(base) + 25 Str mod = DC40.

The hammer stays locked in the telekinetic grip and flies back, above and behind Imagine. 'Kay, now, what have we learned about good manners? Let's try this again.

Hi there! I'm Kara F#&*ing Luthor. How may I help you today? =-)'

The other day:

Kara's rambled awkwardly for a few moments before hanging up, leaving the question unanswered. Shale looked around at his remaining comrades; those physically in the Watchtower, and those on viewscreens as well.

"Well, crap." He takes a minute to gather his thoughts before beginning again, "It doth appear we have a problem. One of our members has been called out as a potential traitor in our midsts, and yet she refuses to even acknowledge the accusation. That leaves the rest of us in a bind. Should we ignore the accusation as well, and do nothing, or force the issue. We are no doubt a fledgling team, and this could just as easily be an attempt to divide us and distract us from greater issues by causing us to fight amongst ourselves. Unfortunately, it could also be the truth, which we would ignore to our own peril."

"This problem weighs heavily upon mine mind, as Imagine is a both a Luthor, and a documented prior resident of a designated Mental Health institution. Being a Luthor might make her more prone to scheme, and perhaps to take up her father's interests above either ours or the greater good. Being mentally unsound might make her actions unpredictable in general. However, it is for these same reasons that she might make an easy target for someone wishing to divide us; 'the Question,' if it was truly him, counting on our suspicion of a Luthor to be enough to accuse a teammate, and begin a domino effect that breaks the team at the core, and splinters us into individuals once more, instead of a team."

"How shall we proceed, comrades? I see two paths; one, keep an eye on the young woman, but allow her to function as a member of the team whilst we investigate these claims. And second, suspend her status with the Justice League and thereby limit her access to our security and procedures, until the veracity of the charges is refuted. What say you?"

Toughness +20, Fort +10, Ref +3, Will +3, Notice +4, Defense +4

"Well I still trust her. That Question guy is nuts. I say keep her around. "

The Present:

Imagine is able to direct the Hammer against its owner, but as it flies toward Steel it grows harder and harder to push forward.

The Hammer slams into Steel, but much of Imagine's telekinetic strength is drained by the time it gets to its target.

Toughness: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (16) + 14 = 30

"JLI, Luthor is going to be difficult. I might need some backup here.

The Justice League will not be some Luthor puppet paramilitary organization. No then, lets see you you like it when other people play with your toys. "

Steel reaches her right gauntlet toward Imagine and turns her hands, looking like nothing so much as a Jedi.

opposed power check vs. the Z-belt: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (16) + 14 = 30

I think your rank there is 17, but I'm not sure. If you lose the opposed check, the Z-belt ceases function.

The Past:

Obsidian vs Sinter:

Attack: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (13) + 12 = 25

Sinter Reflex save: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (12) + 3 = 15

As Sinter blasts wildly into the night sky, the darkness closes more completely around him, enshrouding him completely.
Sinter is Helpless in his bindings. But since he has an aura of plasma, I'm going to rule that he can still attack with that uncontrolled blast against the Snare effect.

Then, the Darkness speaks. "Come on Sinter, I thought you were Justice League. Surely you can do better than that. Stretch yourself a little. You are a tiny sun, and you can't fight a little darkness."

Basically you can either spend a Hero Point or use 'Extra Effort' (leaves you fatigued) to allow a power stunt. The stunt has a few options, but the most common ones I can recall are to come up with a new Alternate Power for one of your existing powers to use only on this one occasion, or to supercharge one of your powers, increasing it by 2 ranks.

Where do you live BTW; I'm guessing Metropolis?

Actually, looking at it, since the dazzle is a light effect and the snare is darkness, I think you can just use the dazzle to Counter the Darkness effect. That would not require a Hero Point.

The shadows enshrouding Sinter crack like a dark world being cracked by quakes. The cracks grow larger and crazier until the darkness flies apart, penetrated by light. Sinter races for space, a boom rolling out from his anti-meteoric rise.

The other day:

"As there is presently no evidence of wrongdoing, I can accept that opinion. However, I reserve the privilege to investigate these allegations. Unsupported accusations aside, Imagine's refusal to answer the question and general foolishness in matters of solemnity concern me. Her childish behaviour may need to be addressed at some point."

Once the meeting disbanded, Shale will begin his investigation.

"Viktor, I would like to request you monitor any unusual interactions you might have with Imagine; particularly anything you might concerned represents an ethical issue or misuse of League resources. I am not asking you to spy on her or invade her privacy; only watch for behaviours that might reflect negatively on the League."

It would have been helpful had Sinter been able to more accurately recall the Question's accusations, or, ironically, if there had been a recording of his visit. Something to do with Mind Control and the Starro creatures. What would be the purpose of that; Imagine is already capable of Mind Control. Perhaps a method to augment her abilities? That is not necessarily nefarious; while mind control is an ethically dubious power to utilize, it is the power she has, and she has thus far employed it to our benefit. Could the Question merely be objecting to our allowing of a Mind Controller on the team? No, she is hardly the first telepath on the league. Which brings up the issue of the Martians, and there apparent stasis.

"Viktor, are you aware of any telepaths with former league affiliations that might be willing to consult on a League matter in a purely beneficial capacity? Please keep It confidential, but it appears that both Martian Manhunter and Ms. Martian are still alive, but are in some sort of stasis that is preventing them from regenerating from their burns. Whether they have suffered a psychic attack, or the Martian genetic fear of fire resulted in some sort or mental trauma, I am hoping a Telepath might be able to draw them out and allow them to heal."

I completely missed this one. o.O

Feeling like a thief in the night, Imagine quickly slips out of the overly simplistic cranium--a bit like a trashed frat boy house after after a party, if that chapter was full of prospective engineers--and cradles the rapidly-falling woman in a gentle-yet-firm telekinetic-grasp, the likes of which few in the world are capable of.

Sweet. This "Question" guy certainly has a fire-hose hard-on for me, because my friends won't shut up about how this guy is going on and on and on about how he fantasizes about me doing bad things to people. And not in the good way!

And me take over the League? Puh-hu-leese! In case you haven't noticed they're not exactly very good about realizing a positive Return-On-Investment while saving the world. Okay, sure, sometimes Lex-Corp can buy up prime real estate just because it happened to get a little bit destroyed, and then sell it back on the open market after the area recovers in whole...but how is that a bad thing??

Alrighty, so to make a long story short--DON'T say "too late". I _hate_ it when people do that--what did Mr. The Question say to you, and who are the "our" in "form our own League"? In excruciating detail.

The helicopter returns to its normal function, so let's assume that a distress call goes out.

Kara's scrolls through that of Natasha Irons as though it is an Instagram page, looking through her recent experiences until she comes to something interesting. A room, heavy concrete like some sort of bunker, no sense of style, a big black rectangular table, perhaps made out of obsidian or granite. Around it stand several figures, each shrouded in shadow. Someone is talking about her, about Kara, it is a man in a blue trenchcoat and fedora. Quite stylish in a retro noir sort of way. His face is blank, but his voice is strong, unmuffled by whatever mask he is wearing.

"Steel will attack Ms. Luthor, drawing her away from her security into a confrontation. Play to her vanity, Natasha. Attack her father, her connections, call her spoiled. Mention our little group, here. She will respond first with violence, but she will quickly tire of that and seek out the nature of our assembly. You will have no defense against her mental probe..."

At that, Steel interjects, "I'm sure that I could configure the force field of the armor to prevent her mental--"

"No" continues The Question. "We want her to probe you. That is how we will introduce her to, ah, and here we are..." At that, he appears somehow to notice Imagine's presence in the room. "Ms. Luthor, allow me to introduce you to Mr. King, alias Brainwave, alias Brain Wave, alias Brain King. He, like you, is an accomplished telepath. I, of course, am The Question."

Well this is interesting.

Imagine fails to reply to Sinter's request, deep in the mind-commune as she is. But there is a large Lex-Corp chinook helicopter approaching with a belly full of ten angry men wondering why the hell she dropped off the grid.

That she was last seen alive talking about an evening with a being of living flame should be no cause for alarm.

Imagine's head in Steel's head in...someone else's head:

'Oh. What. The. F~**? Why do all you guys feel the need to lay in wait in someone -else's- head to get to talk to me. Y'know if you showed up at Sweet Doomed Angel and bought me a drink I'd probably listen to you for at -least- a full thirty seconds. Any longer or I'd either get bored or put your cock in my mouth. Or both. It depends.

Anyway, I give no shits what the hell your boyfriend has to say. Your fetching-girl got all up in mah grill and I knocked her down and here we are. You managed to pull off the obvious. Well done. Truly thou art a sage amongst men.

Some would say that the most surprising thing is that Natasha would allow herself to play into a Luthor's hands just for the sake of a meet-n-greet. I got her now, and you knew that I would get her now, and I know that you know that that I know that you knew that I would get her now and don't think that we're just gonna give up this tasty bit. Can't just let IP like this walk out the door, know-wat-Im-sayin'?

Anyway, Mr. Exclamation Mark, or Captain Semicolon, or The Incredible Ampersand, or whatevs you call yourself for lack of a cooler name, Imma be generous since you went to so very much trouble, including talking to all my friends and spreading nasty, horrid, unimaginative and not even FUN rumors about me to get my attention, so shoot. What's your pitch? You want to start getting copyright on punctuation so you can sell T-shirts or something?
Oddly enough, I think I could get daddy behind that. He loves marketing things that used to be free. You should see our premium waters line.

Oh. Or...or did you want your back-door man Mr. HeadSurf to take a shot at the title? I already got one of your little clubhouse members under thumb, I'm sure I got enough ass to go around if he wants to spend the rest of his life thinking he's a cardboard Kia box.'

Kara waits patiently for the cruel-yet-inevitable betrayal. A part of her brain notes that he can't actually betray her since they were never friends, but that thought isn't really interesting so it doesn't end up going anywhere.
