I can empathize. People that have jobs are over worked and so many others wishing that they had a job. It is nice to be able to post a few minute each day. I can never find the 5+ hrs to play a full game online. Lol Heck I had 3 interruptions just writing this post. Boys won't go to sleep.

    Again sorry for the delay there, but once I got down to post up I realized that room contained a fair bit of info that all needed to be improvised as to how you want to drop it in unless you want to go with bullet point discoveries. I couldn't quite get the time together, but that was the big "blank page" hurdle for this scenario.

    Also- just fyi, September is seasonally a terribly time for me work-wise which is part of my delay. It will pass soon enough and in any case I think we are set up for a smoother run now that you know what you need to know.

    Well, close to it at least. Running around with the folks ate up more time than I thought this week and I just found out I'll have to work through next weekend, but we are close nonetheless. I don't think we will finish before I leave for next weekend, but I do think we may be in the middle of the last thing.

    In around 40 PFS GM sessions I've never killed a PC yet though I have come damn close many times. Don't let this turn into a TPK.

    You need to be tactical at this point. That is a wand. She can cast color spray all day. The DC is low, but eventually she will get all of you. There are drawbacks though. It is only useful if she holds onto it and it only has a 15 foot range.

    I'm going to use that roll to rather heavy handedly connect some dots for you all. I hope you don't mind. I think it is better for players to understand more of the story whenever possible and in this case it could be the key to you surviving the encounter.

    Marchello has read about certain sorcerers displaying such abilities before. Usually has to do with the presence of an aberration mixed up in the family tree, though there are rare stories of previously normal hosts displaying this kind of transformation during possession by an aberration.

    Effectively she is using the long limbs bloodline arcana of an aberrant sorcerer. I described it as her tongue purely for grossness, but was sure that she always had a free hand available when using it as RAW it should be her arm delivering the touch.

    Now- you have seen that whatever is possessing her does not appear to be undead since channeled energy did nothing. You know that the canopic jar she found in the tomb contain organs from this long dead sorcerer of ancient Osirion who was obsessed with the Outer Gods and Outer Planes (realm of aberrations). The jar likely contains a brain by shape size and intuition. If he had developed his aberration bloodline enough all bets are off as to normal physiology, lifespan, etc. It is entirely possible that Kuburrum Ishme-Dagan NEVER died and that his brain lives on in that cannister dormant for millenia until disturbed and awakened. If that is the case you could probably end the possession by destroying what remains of his body, but since the cannister is iron it would be difficult to destroy unless you could hit it hard enough to crack the cannister. (Sunder attempts vs hardness)

    Alternatively killing or at least dropping the woman herself would leave him with no one left to puppet. Marchello can guess that Imrizade must have had some dormant aberrant bloodline for Kuburrum to make his connection with her. Meaning he won't be able to simply possess a new host if he loses her.

    We need to get that wand away from her. I have enough healing left that we can take care of her shocking grasp tongue attacks, but the Colour Sprays will finish us off.

    I have a few thoughts.

    -We all try to disarm her. Hopefully at least one of us will succeed and flip the wand out of her.

    -I'm not sure if we can see the jar, but if we can, how about we chuck it through that gate? Would that work?

    -Or does everyone with a weapon just start hammering at the jar?

    -No point grappling her, she will still be able to use the wand.

    -What if we Sunder her WAND? Wands have only 5 hit points and 5 hardness; one or two good hits should do it.

    The jar is currently affixed to the gate, at the apex, 15 feet above ground level.

    Sundering the wand is definitely a possibility that I hadn't thought about. It does not reduce your loot in any way on the chronicle sheet.

    Just being sarcastic. I was planning to disarm or sunder the wand after taking out the last umbilical cord, but since we lined up so nicely for the wand, I agree that sooner is better than later.

    Thanks GM, I'll take the advice, I'm still learning about the mechanics of things, which is probably obvious.

    I was trying not to meta off of Noa's input, but I also have a +6 will save so I figured I had an edge. But given the way that I have been rolling, it wouldn't have mattered.

    Having a great time, wouldn't mind a tactical debrief after the final battle so that I could hear some ideas about options.

    Jake is right. I'm running Noa, not Mordecai, and I had no authority to direct OOC. I thought Mord was TotalDef to help against the coming wand burst, which doesn't work, and so I started there. Then he said he'd welcome input. So I put in.

    A second round of grappling would have pinned her. It was about the dice, I knew that. Sooner or later, gotta roll the dice. :)

    I would guess the tentacles now make the link between the jar and Imrizade. Jar>Arch>Gateway>Tentacles>Imrizade? There's what, one left? I'd keep cutting. We're here for the girl. Once we get her free, we can use missles to reach the jar. But wasn't one of us still looking for a faction maguffin? If it's the jar, and we destroy the jar, does he lose the point? I've ridden a long way and a lot of years, but this is my first PFS rodeo; please DO ADVISE.

    I thought there was some kind of provision for that within the rules, but I don't see it now. I'm going to stick with RAW on that one which means she could cast spells that have only a verbal component or use purely mental abilities.

    It is rough enough being a caster who gets pinned. The list of things you can do shrinks down to almost nothing. Taking away the ability to dimension door out after being pinned would have killed my wizard several times by now. You probably wouldn't like it if the bad guys were using pin to silence you :P
