Intrigue in Taldor - Pathfinder Core -- DMs as players? (Inactive)

Game Master Chainmail

Taldor is beset by invaders from the south as all is quiet on the Eastern Front. What do the enemies of Taldor have in mind next?

Their latest plot takes aim at the very heart of Taldor. What starts out as a simple border watch assignment for the adventurers turns into a story of war, espionage and intrigue that will shake the nation to its foundation.

Think Pash is ENFP... Not sure why it feels right to me, but it does.

How are we for magic item crafting?
Maybe NG Idealist or Visionary. LOL!

I doubt there will be extended time for crafting. There are a few respites in my campaigns, but adventurers mostly adventure. The Worldwound demons have a fast paced agenda.

OKAY - I will put together a massive introduction and maps for both groups. When table 1 is together and ready they will start.

Makes sense. In that case...

Does core extend to equipment as well? Was thinking Elven finesse Paladin with Elven Long-Blade

Edit: never mind... apparently, it's Core.

I figure the Paladin would be of a deity concerned with "matters":

Anubis - Guardian of the Tomb

Alignment LN (one step from LG)

Areas of Concern - Burial, the dead, funeral rites, mummification, tombs
Domains - Death, Earth, Law, Protection, Repose

If something disrupts the natural order/balance... Anubis has a stake (maybe wooden!).

EDIT: Just taking care of the gear/housekeeping.

I added the following to Shandor's description.

Shandor Zindelo

Additional Description:

INTP - The Thinker

Logical, original, creative thinkers. Can become very excited about theories and ideas. Exceptionally capable and driven to turn theories into clear understandings. Highly value knowledge, competence and logic. Quiet and reserved, hard to get to know well. Individualistic, having no interest in leading or following others.

Shandor has become only a fragment of his former self. A sharpened mind set firmly with years of academic training, Shandor’s former training still resides within his now damaged mind. Although Shandor still retains a lot of his academic training, at times he tends to forget information he once commanded. His ultimate goal is to regain what he has lost due to the Mindfire sickness. To develop his knowledge to where it once was and to regain his control over magic.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

In the spirit of the game, ask if we can wait for Baldwin the Merciful (awesome DM), detailed and fast paced.

He's swamped this week, totally. Can we save him a seat?

I have made a strategic pivot back to the original story. Evil orcs as villains with future villains pulling the strings.

Any rangers want orcs as favored enemy. Dwarves of course, will want to remember their hatred bonus.

I will wait for table 2 till late Monday.

Here is the background as posted in gameplay that moves the adventure into Taldor and on the Golarian calendar.

Greatwall was the name used to describe the eastern border keep placed strategically in the eastern edge of the Whistling Plains. The popularity of the current ruler of Taldar is waning, and the use of Greatwall to describe the border fort of four thousand was a stark indicator of this.

But it is the 14th day of Rova in AR4090 (middle fall), and talk of The Battle of the Ford is everywhere. The battered survivor with a hacking cough had described the ambush of the Taldan forces in detail to an attentive room in the tavern. He detailed the defeat of the main body, and finally, the use of the auxiliaries and common foot soldiers to cover the retreat of the nobles and the Taldan Phalanx with some disgust as only one who had been there could.

A glance at the stubble growing on the soldier's face, dangerously close to the beard forbidden to all but the Taldan royalty, said much for his thoughts on Taldan nobility.

Taldor continues to fight the Qadirans in the south. The war has been going on for just over ten years, and the news had been anything but good. The post of Greatwall seems to be a collecting point for the old and incompetent as the best of the nation is sent south.

You think of your future in Greatwall, and before your summons, it was fairly bleak. Perhaps you were one of the original farmers and watched in transform into a war-forged stronghold. Maybe you were a deserter or soldier who spent his term and ended up here. Maybe you arrived on one of the major merchant caravans the still passed through the trade routes to the east. Although war makes trading dangerous, it also makes it profitable.

orc that be needin a killin'? Oy, ole Ivan gonna be havin' a fun time ere'. Bring me me axe! And a barrel O' the good stuff laddie!

Shadow Lodge

Late in arriving, and hence late in responding. Am able to play any class needed to round out either table. Let me know if you need another player, with class suggestion if needed. Thanks!

If there isn't enough for a second table you don't have to force it for my sake, GM... I really appreciate your willingness to run a second table though. Sticking by though in case you do get enough. This sounds like a great campaign and I do hope to play in it.

Not that I'm selected, but a DM can take my slot.

Okay, I am adding Storymaster to the first group. So table one is full and closed at six. I will be selecting five more and holding the Halfling rogues slot. Pash, check in and confirm you are still around and pick a Personality Type. To be considered for Table 2 please pick a personality type and fit it into your background.

Hopefully explain why you are in a tavern on the lonely Border Fort of Greatwall.

Table 1
DM Bloodgargler Dwarf Druid
DM Zed Human Sorcerer
GM Blood Human Fighter
Mattastrophic Human Roge
DM Jelani Half-orc ranger
Storymaster TBD class

Table 2
Pash Halfling rogue
up to five more TBD

GM, is Ivan lacking something?

No, Ivan looks good. I am highly fond of dwarves. He is passing on the campaign feat I take it. It may not be for everyone -- +1 to AC and all saves.

forgot about that one, yeah he will take it, when I first made Ivan he was a foehammer, but now I am unsure what he will be, so thats a good generic feat I think.

Some feedback on Iscarel would be great.

Got it! If the second group still have room, and there is no candidate with a cleric, I would like to offer a cleric for the party. Think Forrest Gump (he was the inspiration that beat out the monk...go figure).

Will fluff and crunch him out today, and see if you approve.

INFJ cleric of Sarenae. Human male. Right about time Gump left service, I'd say. His superior suggested he may be helpful at the border (perhaps with a letter of recommendation to the superior's connections at the border, calling anyone a fool that deserves to die to the orcs, if they overlook what this man can offer).

Time for the historical highlights:
The concept fits INFJ. The "original" descriptor was a strange fallout of this brainstorm, but I can see it out a person who is very far from being guided by studying things to their logical conclusion.

He served with distinction in the military, and gained his superior's stamp of approval to the consternation of his peers. He did this through disciplined and consistent work ethic, not through ingenuity.
**Persevering attitude - Adage: Always do something**
**Workhorse, not tactical leadership material**
**Doing is more important than holding back to showing someone up**

His superior pushed hard to get the cleric moved south in the war efforts. But, the higher-ups failed to see the potential in the man, and denied the request. The cleric took it in stride, as the decision was theirs, not his to make.
**Does not interview well**
**Respects decisions from the clear and obvious authorities**
**Would love to see him rise above this as he develops**

He was picked on as a child. He thinks it is wrong to do so.
**Purposeless violence is wrong**
**The helpless needs protection**
**Avoid collateral damage to other people**
**Sarenae - Glory and Good**
**I saw the choices here as Sarenae's, not the clerics**
**Sarenae's Glory, through this human vassal, to create Good**

Crunch, rough form:

Name: Lorkan Millsman
STR 14
DEX 10
CON 12
INT 07
WIS 17 (+2 racial here)
CHA 14

Cleric of Sarenae (Glory, Good)
Feats: Luck of Heroes, Spell Focus(Conjuration), Augmented Summoning

Okay, Table 1 has not gathered completely, but time to go over table 2 applicants. Awaiting Baldwin to post if he is interested.

Pash is good to go (edited sorry for confusion)
He is already in Table 2

Other candidates and status

Character Race Class Personality type? In background?
Iscarel ??? Bard No No
Ivan Dwarf Fighter Yes Yes
Boris Human Barbarian No No
Lorkan Human Cleric Yes No
Thallan Elven Paladin No No
Shandor Human Wizard Yes Yes

Backgrounds are looking good. Some could use some more detail.

Any chance you would consider Lorkan for a spot?

Pash is my character, declared him initially to be an ENFP (Inspiror) type, but since have looked a bit more I am thinking he might really be ENTP (Visionary). Reason being that I can see him being matching this section of the summary: "Good at a broad range of things. Enjoy debating issues, and may be into "one-up-manship". They get very excited about new ideas and projects, but may neglect the more routine aspects of life."

Iscarel is an elf sorcerer (at present) and has posted both his personality type and his background here in the thread. :/

Let me know if there's anything else I'm missing.

I should have my human rogue complete and a post up Tuesday. The new time-frame (my original character is alive in the 4700s) means I'll need to make a few tweaks.

-Matt

Hello. I see there was a request to hold a spot for me at one of the tables and I thank you for the consideration. I'm super swamped at work this week and I haven't had a chance to consider this this game. Feel free to move forward without me.

Good gaming to all.

I added to the background for Lorkan, and now there are some loose ties to his personality. I will probably keep tinkering with it, but I think there's enough to give you a good sense of who Lorkan is. Please let me know what you think.

The big (invisible) elephant in the room is...he's a cleric. I will be rounding out the picture showing how he found and followed his faith. That'll probably be tomorrow, with an outside chance it happens tonight.

ESTJ - The Guardian

Practical, traditional, and organized. Likely to be athletic. Not interested in theory or abstraction unless they see the practical application. Have clear visions of the way things should be. Loyal and hard-working. Like to be in charge. Exceptionally capable in organizing and running activities. "Good citizens" who value security and peaceful living.

I hate to turn away interested players, so I have decided to accept all the remainder for Table 2. As long as you keep a once a day posting rate on the weekday pace, we will be fine. Anyone who has submitted a character and chosen a personality profile, please add your personality profile in your character sheet somewhere near your alignment. These are your roleplaying guidelines.

Below is the link to your discussion thread. I will instruct you when gameplay is ready for posting. If you want to 'dot' the gameplay thread, make a post and promptly delete it. It will still have the same effect I think.

Congrats for making good characters==now help us craft an exciting story in Taldor.

Here is your discussion link

Dot & Delete is confirmed! Thanks for accepting Thallan and I!

Appreciate you taking the time to run a second table for us, will be right over to dot.

Sorry I'm late - the cleric has arrived!
