Leroy raises his hand when he hears his name... not really understanding what is being said...

Dwarven:
I'm 'ere! Keep your trousers on!

Female Dwarf Paladin 5 (Stonelord) | HP | AC | touch | flat | Fort + | Ref + | Will + | Init + | Perception +

Greetings to you all, I am Parii, Sword of the Ebon Wings, Kelinahat.

BTW, some basic info on Kelinahat.

Now, as I may have mentioned before, we will be trying to get around four players, but I won't be waiting much longer than Monday, the 5th. after I get it started, I'll be checking these pages around once everyday or so, since I have to balance school work with this, and other things, but you guys are free to check for updates as often or as seldom as you want.

CAMPAIGN COMPLETE HP (55/62) Rage (2/3) AC (18) Insight, Intimidate (+1) Perception, Survival (+2) Stonecunning (+3)Tools (Smith) Barbarian (4)

OOC: I'm here, I'm present, I'm in this game.

"Greetings, one and all. May the forgefather watch ye."

Male Kobold Trainee Game Master 1

Hey Khaz, not to be a debby downer or anything, but aren't Stonelords still required to be Lawful Good? I remember reading up on them and seeing nothing about them being Lawful Neutral.

CAMPAIGN COMPLETE HP (55/62) Rage (2/3) AC (18) Insight, Intimidate (+1) Perception, Survival (+2) Stonecunning (+3)Tools (Smith) Barbarian (4)

Even worse they are an archetype! Which isn't allowed. I'm changing him to be a ranger today.

Male Goblin Rogue (Unchained, Scout) 1

"I iz here, I haz pickles. Some wiggle, iz good though!"

I'm totally new to this by the way. I appreciate any pointers as we go along.

CAMPAIGN COMPLETE HP (55/62) Rage (2/3) AC (18) Insight, Intimidate (+1) Perception, Survival (+2) Stonecunning (+3)Tools (Smith) Barbarian (4)

Khaz looks at the goblin with barely disguised disdain. While not consumed with the hatred towards the greenskinned races like most of his kin, he had a healthy distrust for anything without a beard.

"Well then, orc-kin...this here is a first. A goblin who hasn't tried to slit me throat or steel me bootlaces. Tell me, wee one, why I shouldn't give you to me kinsman here." He points at Leroy. "He only speaks the tongue o' the mountain. So you'd best tell me why yer trustworthy before he does what most o' Torag's children do when they see a greenskin."

Dwarven:
"Leroy, hold off on killing it. If this creature managed to get itself into town, then it probably isn't like the usual dirt-eaters that we stomp. And killing it out of hand might get us thrown out of another town. You agree?"

OOC on languages:
By the way, for any who care: When speaking commno, Khaz obviously doesn't pronounce things right. His "of" becomes "o'", and he has problems with the -ing ending. He tends to leave the 'g' off.

However, he doesn't have the problem when speaking his native tongue. So when he speaks in dwarven, all of the accents fall away. This is intentional on my part, and hope it doesn't cause confusion.

OOC on Goblins:
No offense meant to you Fiz. But goblins, as your bio mentions, are going to face discrimination. Given that you have two dwarves here, one of whom is so xenophobic that he only speaks dwarven...well, it means that the racism is probably going to played up until Fiz really does something to earn everyone's trust and acceptance.

Male Goblin Rogue (Unchained, Scout) 1

"Dear Smelly Beard,

Tell Baldy Poutface he can kiss a dog if he thinkz I care a hoot about yur shoe laces. I didn't know dorfs knew how to tie dem.

I offerd a pickle cuz I'z iz nice gobbo. I iz what I am, but Fizgrubber no dumb gobbo. You don't mine spelly rocks, I don't stab you in yur sleep. Maybe.

People's iz different even when their kinfolk haz a reputation for being a certain way.

Plus, I can take a hit beardy, and if that dont earn yur respect, then you just an elf lovin girly dorf."

CAMPAIGN COMPLETE HP (55/62) Rage (2/3) AC (18) Insight, Intimidate (+1) Perception, Survival (+2) Stonecunning (+3)Tools (Smith) Barbarian (4)

Grum stiffened at the goblin's words. His face darkening.

"Wee one. Did ye jus' call me an elfling lovin' girly' dwarf?" His voice started to rise, the anger creeping in. "An' ye dare insult the intelligence o' Torag's finest creations?!" His hand dropped to his axe as he took a step closer. "Give me one good reason why I should't see if ye really can take a hit?"

Since we now have four players, We will begin around 10 to 12 EST tonight. If you would like a particular backstory I will try to work it into my initial post, but you should either leave a comment in the discussion, or PM me, and I will see what I can do.

Also, how familiar is everyone here with the Paizo messageboard system of play-by-post?

Male Goblin Rogue (Unchained, Scout) 1

"Take a swing fatboy, it'll be funny. But if you break my pickle jar I'll have to swing back!"

I'm curious to try the dice roller since I'm new to this. I'll be using my Roll With It racial feat, could use the practice

Wanted to clarify something. You mentioned taking a campaign trait. Typically you get two traits, plus on campaign trait(if applicable).

Is this okay, or is it two traits only?

Thanks!

I'm completely new to this.

CAMPAIGN COMPLETE HP (55/62) Rage (2/3) AC (18) Insight, Intimidate (+1) Perception, Survival (+2) Stonecunning (+3)Tools (Smith) Barbarian (4)

I'm in one other Play by Post campaign. AFAIK, play by post just means posting as regularly as humanly possible. Talking is in bold. Roll dice using the forum tool.

For my character background, it has been posted in the discussion thread already.

Parii looked at the goblin with some disgust, but curiosity.

"Strange, I've never truly seen a goblin speaking Common before. Or even be this close to other 'civilized' races. Who are you?" the gnome asked with a raised eyebrow.

I'll be at work once this all starts, but I'll post something as soon as I can

Two traits, one of which is a campaign trait is how everyone else set up their characters I think. The players guide is, as aforementioned, free in PDF format. Note: If anyother player did not set up their character that way, then I didn't catch it, and you should remove some traits. Thank you.

"Oi, who does a holy man 'ave ta kiss to get an ale around 'ere?"

Male Goblin Rogue (Unchained, Scout) 1

"Too many smelly stinkin dorfs in here. I'm outta here.

Have fun with your boyfriend elf-lover!"

CAMPAIGN COMPLETE HP (55/62) Rage (2/3) AC (18) Insight, Intimidate (+1) Perception, Survival (+2) Stonecunning (+3)Tools (Smith) Barbarian (4)

A hastily thrown Chakram missed its mark, and there was little that Khaz could do to catch a swift goblin. With little but curses left to throw, Khaz turned to his kinsmen.

Dwarven:
"Blasted damned goblins! Damn him to Rovagug's prison! Bah. And if you are asking for a good drink, you are likely to be dissapointed. This is a human town. The strongest thing you will find here is halfling piss-water."

Dwarven:

"Mind your manners Khaz, that wee lass looks to have some bones to 'er.

CAMPAIGN COMPLETE HP (55/62) Rage (2/3) AC (18) Insight, Intimidate (+1) Perception, Survival (+2) Stonecunning (+3)Tools (Smith) Barbarian (4)

Dwarven:
"The gnome? You think she can understand us? Bah! Even if she can... You're far too kind, brother to worry about that. I say that if she takes offense at cursing at a goblin then she isn't worth the blade that she carries."

Parii

Plothook:
Since you never gave your Character a background, I developed this one for you.
Your parents happen to be one of the few Gnome families which live in Magnimar, but when you reached the end of adolescence you set out to explore, first the hometowns of your kinsfolk, and then onward from there. It was on this journey that you discovered your empyreal Lord, and her small amounts of followers among some Gnomish cousins of yours. You adopted this faith, and have set out to gather more information on her, as well as learn all that you can of Golarion. You arrived in Sandpoint to attend the famed Swallowtail festival, as it sounded like a marvelous way to spend a few days. You arrived in town two days prior to the festival, and used this time to explore a little of your home city’s daughter town. How would you like to spend these two days, and where will you be sleeping?

Leroy, Khaz, and Grizmark

Plothook:
You set out from your clan several months ago, and after making stops in a few cities here and there, found yourself in Magnimar, a coastal city in western Varisia. Stopping at a local inn, you heard tales of the Temple recently built up in Sandpoint dedicated to six different deities. Fascinated, Grizmark pleaded with you all to go up and to see it, the other two dwarfs were reluctant at first, but when Grizmark also relayed another piece of information about a strong stomach competition which Leroy had at first not understood, not speaking common, Leroy joined in the vote, and you three wound up in Sandpoint, arriving the day before the swallowtail festival. How would you like to spend the half day before the annual swallowtail festival, (doubling this year as an opening event to consecrate the new Temple) and where will you be spending the night?

Please note that there are two inns in town. The Rusty Dragon, and The White Deer, There are also two taverns, Risa’s Place, and The Hagfish, these two normally have a few bed and board rooms open, but with the swallowtail festival as near as it is, they are out.

Leroy turns to both his clanmates and huffs. He downs his ale and smiles.

Dwarven:
I be thinkin' the ale is fine... t'is imported. From them dwarves round these parts. T'is well made it is! As for that gob, 'e be a fool t' be roamin' these parts.

"Oi boys, it ain't the first time we will be roughin' it in our bedrolls. See if ya can't find us a place to lay them out. I'd like to find out more about this Swallowtail Festival in an of its self."

I'd like to gather information regarding what this festival is all about, normally, and the motivation for this new temple.

Grizmark wrote:

Where would you like to gather information?

Does the town have a square, town hall, or similar? I'd assume the inns and taverns would be full of tourist with no local knowledge. I'd look elsewhere

Also is there any older temples that are being replaced by this new construction? That might be a place for honest answers.

If you make a diplomacy check, you might be able to figure out the best place to gather info from one of the town guards as you enter the gates.

Alright, lets see if I can do this dice-rolling thingy!

"Lad, where best might a humble cleric of Sarenrae go to find out more about this festival and the new church?"

Diplomacy: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (20) + 10 = 30

There is a monastery in town, and an older burnt down Temple which was dedicated to Desna

I'll head to the monastery

CAMPAIGN COMPLETE HP (55/62) Rage (2/3) AC (18) Insight, Intimidate (+1) Perception, Survival (+2) Stonecunning (+3)Tools (Smith) Barbarian (4)

Grum turned to Leroy.

Dwarven:
"Lad, I think that the best place to look for a place to lay out the bedrolls is the Hagfish. We can grab ourselves somethin' to drink, an' see if we can get ourselves a place to lay out our cots under a roof. We'll be back before Grizmark to tell him the good news, eh?"

The Guard you talk too seems very open to your question,
"Hmm... You might try one of the taverns... But I have always thought the Rusty Dragon was the best place in town for gossip and ale. But as for the festival, It is but our towns humble festival in dedication to the main deity of this town, Desna, but like you I'm also a Sarenrae adherent myself. The new Temple was built to give those like me with differing faiths a chance to show our devotion, and because the old building had a fire..." He pauses for a breif moment looking sad. "terrible day that."

That being said, I'll head to the Rusty Dragon instead.

"My the Dawnflower bring ya warmth on a cold day."

"Thank you, and may her rays never set on your journey my friend" The Guard calls after you.

So are Khaz and Leroy headed to the Hagfish?

Grizmark:
When Grizmark reaches the Rusty Dragon, he is greeted by the sight of a rather standard looking inn, but on the roof of said inn is a rather large (for a statue) and rather rusty, iron dragon. The door swings open to reveal a full, but not overcrowded dinning room. There is a hallway to the right, and a bar down at the other end of the room. there are table spaced through out the fairly spacious (roughly 50 by 60 ft) room

I'd like to spend the next few hours using the Gather Information function of Diplomacy, starting with the bar area, and working toward the dining area. I'd like to try and find out about the cause of the fire, any other recent happenings, what to expect during the festival, and any prospective places to sleep.

Grum and Leroy made their way to the Hagfish. When there, Grum made his way straight to the barkeep.

"Oi there, barkeep. An ale for me and me kinsman 'ere. An' while ye are at it, might I bend ye ear for a moment? Y'see, there be three o' us here. Meself, Leroy behind me, an' our kinsman, a cleric o' Sarenrae."

He added the last part, having found that in human lands name dropping one of 'their' gods tended to get people to listen.

"This town's full o' pilgrims an' the like. An' we be lookin' for a dry place to lay out our cots, while our clerical brother visits the temple. Might ye know o' a place where we can bed down? Preferably a place close to some ale, so we can buy our way to a good night's sleep."

The last part might have been a bit heavy handed, but he didn't have the patience to beat around the bush.

Diplomacy: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 5 = 15

both of you may read this

hagfish:
The hagfish, despite the name, is not an unpleasant place, the structure of the architecture is pretty standard for a varisian tavern, nothing too fancy, with a bar to the left side of the room, and tables spattered throughout and a hall way at the end of the room leading both left and right. The barkeep is behind the bar.

only Khaz can read this
common:
Going up to him you ask your question. "Sorry mates, but all I got left is the hayloft of my stables out back. I can let you three use it for a week for a gold piece though." he says with a smile.

Grizmark can make a diplomacy roll

Leroy has heard a bit about the hagfish... most particular was their challenge! The fowlest and most rancid competition! Leroy was the kind of dwarf to accept any challenge, especially if it involved eating and drinking. But now was not the time to indulge in rancid food and water. Leroy had to keep his lunch if he wanted to get tnhings done... perhaps later...

Dwarven:
You reckon they have some kindly women?

Leroy pulls out the bluebook he had gotten from a gaurd at the gates. It was written in common, so Leroy had yet to read it. only look at the illustration. He holds it out to Khaz

CAMPAIGN COMPLETE HP (55/62) Rage (2/3) AC (18) Insight, Intimidate (+1) Perception, Survival (+2) Stonecunning (+3)Tools (Smith) Barbarian (4)

Ignoring the question, Khaz slapped two gold crowns on the counter.

"Tha'll do jus' fine. One for lodging and the other to start our tab. We'll be back with our brother for more drinks soon, tavern-keep. Ye have our thanks."

Then, turning to Leroy he took the book.

Dwarven:
"What's this?"

For Grizmark

Info:
The most you can get with that roll and being that generic is that there have been around three major happenstances within the past 5 years. unpleasant happenings which until these past 5 years, none of the locals had any inkling of ever happening in their town.
They have apparently dubbed these three things "the recent unpleasantness" and talk about it in hushed tones. the only real thing you can make out is that the old temple burned down, killing the highest ranking priest in its flames, and it appears to be the most recent event also. you gather folks are worried something else may go wrong soon, but are afraid of saying it, for fear it may just make it worse. But the town's folk are also excited for the Swallowtail festival, and the Temple dedication tomorrow, and this seems to be eating up most of their attention.

Tavern:
The Barkeeper thanks you for you patronage and tells a young busboy to show you how to get to the stables when your ready. The young chipper Halfling comes around the corner, and speaks to you in fluent dwarven "Aye, good day masters! I'm here to be a showing ya to yer rooms! Whenever yer ready I'll be right here" He stands at attention of too the side.
