They also can't do things like drink a potion themselves or activate a magic wand.
If it requires hands it can't do it without hands. But there is nothing stopping you from opening a potion and letting Shard drink it.

Nor'scrik is good to go. I had a busy weekend with a local convention and recovering from said convention yesterday :)

For skill checks such as Perception where you look around to see if you notice anything. You can take 10, take 20 (which takes 1 minute out of combat), or you can roll once. Since your character doesn't really know how well he/she is perceiving, you can't roll until the die shows the number you want. What's really supposed to happen is the GM is supposed to roll perception checks behind a screen, but I don't want to get bogged down in micromanaging those types of things slowing the game down. Plus people like to roll their own checks.
Yes, you can retry to find something you suspect is there, but you can't just try to perceive something that you completely don't know is there just because your die roll is low; especially since your character doesn't know they rolled poorly.
As I said you can take 10 - Taking a chance that an average roll will get you your desired result.
You can Roll the dice once - Taking a chance to get above a 10, or fail miserably.
Or you can take the time to look carefully by taking 20 - A full minute, but a guaranteed high roll.
Those are your choices.

I guess that make sense. Going back to the usual take 20 then unless I specify that I am going to roll for him. However, if we are outside of combat such as in a room that has already identified as safe, expect re-rolls/retries after his results are shown on the times I considered rolling a skill checks that allow retries for Hadgar.

Shard comes forward and places himself in front of Antikas, just in case.
"Psst, you guys see anything?" he asks Hadgar and Nor'scrik

Yeah but ability doesn't work that way because cover has to be supported by the ground. Otherwise, Hadgar can cover someone with force screen like that all day.

2 things:
1. Readying an action is a Special Initiative Action and can't be done outside of initiative. I wanted to double check this before posting, which is why it took so long to make this clarification.
2. Hadgar is right, for Kinetic Cover to work, "The face you select must be supported by the ground" per the description.

Coolio. No problem. An interesting way I have seen to treat those rolls, and still let the player roll them is to get like 10 rolls from the player at the start and use them 1 at a time each time one would be needed. It does not give meta-info but still lets the player roll. Thoughts on that? I don't really mind one way or another but I am curious as to your opinion

Rolling a check per room no matter what is a great way to do it. I like it!

Or loan the wand out to people who can cast it, unfortunately we have nobody who can cast it.
If you max your UMD, which isn't a bad idea, you have a decent enough chance of succeeding.
You got it with prestige didn't you?

Hey guys. Just letting you know that as from Friday I will be away and won't be able to post until Tuesday most likely so please bot me as necessary from tomorrow.

Due to RL, discontentment for the game due to being rule-intensive and dwindling interest, I am afraid I will not be able to continue this. Thank you for the game and I wish everyone the best of luck with this module.

Can magic Missile still target something in obscuring mist or with concealment?
Partial Concealment, yes. Total Concealment, No. So if you're within 5' of the creature, you'd be able to tell where the creature is enough to use Magic Missile.

Enjoy your trip GM! :)
