Ammen activates his wayfinder so that he has light to see by and floats forward, looking around for danger.
Perception, heroism: 1d20 + 24 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 24 + 2 = 43
Braxus Ironheart
|
Braxus moves along cautiously, his earrhbreaker gripped tightly in one hand and a wand in the other. He readies himself for danger, a grim look firmly set on his face.
wand of shield, ready action to cast upon seeing any undead.
| GM Kate |
You open the double doors. Large stone panels throughout this round room feature carved images of figures demonstrating martial arts techniques. Flowing writing surrounds each image. A large window to the south looks over an elliptical arena set into the ground.
Tinkapinelle Bly
|
"Such interesting carvings! What a shame that they have been lost to the ages. What other secrets await us here, I wonder?"
With a slight wave of her hand, Nellie casts detect magic, and begins to scan the room.
Perception: 1d20 + 1d6 + 11 ⇒ (3) + (5) + 11 = 19
If it is dim light in the temple, she would also have cast dancing lights before entering.
| GM Kate |
There is nothing magical in the library. Looking through the window, you see a large elliptical arena set five feet down into the floor, with staircases at the eastern and western edges for easy access. Risers of seats surround the arena on all sides, with space for dozens of people to watch bouts.
Three creatures stand there, waiting for a challenger.
Zavita
|
knowledge religion: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (19) + 6 = 25
Zavita calls out as she lays her eyes upon the unholy..."They are brykolakas. Undead. They should be cleansed from this earth." With that she waves her hand and shouts in celestial. "You are abominations on this plane and shall be removed from it."
Zavita would like to know DR/SR. And if possible, she would like to throw out a holy smite immediately. I believe they are group tightly enough to get all three of them. Damage will be posted below in spoiler
if evil: 5d8 ⇒ (5, 6, 2, 2, 2) = 17 and blinded for 1 round
evil outsider: 10d6 ⇒ (2, 4, 2, 6, 5, 5, 5, 5, 2, 6) = 42 and blinded for 1 round
will save DC 19 for half and negates blinded
| GM Kate |
You don't have line of effect from inside the library (the window is solid). You can move to one of the side hallways if you'd like, and we will start off initiative. (Everyone else can also move to where they want to start from.) If everyone stays behind the yellow line, you'll get a surprise round. If someone wants to move in closer, I'll need a Stealth check.
They have DR 10/silver and SR 17.
Zavita
|
Ok. Zavita will move around the library.
Zavita moves around the library and cautiously approaches the undead.
Braxus Ironheart
|
Before moving anywhere, Braxus takes the time to activate his wand, causing a brief magical flicker as the shield magic forms in front of him, and then he dedicates his next actions to destroying undead. use shield wand, then use martial flexibility to gain dedicated adversary(brykolakas/undead).
Done with his preparations, he moves up to the group, and nods, a small grin on his face, "I'm ready when you are. We just talking or am I breaking some earth with their bodies?"
Which side would you like me? Near Zavita, in front or behind, etc... Willing to work with the group before I run in. ;)
Ammensura Ibn Jad
|
Ammen draws out a small pearl which he focuses on for a moment. He then reaches out to Nellie and Braxus and blesses them both.
These are fairly simple enchantments designed to protect you from danger
He then draws out a plain white wood wand and activates it.
Recovering shield of faith with a Pearl of Power and casting it on Nellie and Braxus (+3 deflection). He then casts Barkskin on Nellie (+4) and activates a wand of bless (+1 morale on attack rolls and fear saves)
I am ready says Ammen, moving into position.
Henrick Bulwark
|
Henrick casts lead blades on himself and then moves into position to get ready to charge in, armed with his silvered light hammer in one hand, and the silver throwing axe in the other.
"Ready when you are," he says under his breath.
Tinkapinelle Bly
|
Nellie quietly thanks Ammen for the assistance, pulls out the +2 trident, and prepares to attack.
Nellie will study the 2 enemies closest to her.

| GM Kate |
Normal undead immunities. They carry disease on their claws, and when they die, their bodies liquefy into a poisonous substance that fills a ten-foot cube.
They also can only survive out of water for about six hours, but that's not as useful for you to know!

Ammen launches the light of truth against the nearest two creatures, bringing a miniature sun to bloom in the darkness of this place.
Casting burst of radiance, hitting yellow and blue dealing 5d5 ⇒ (2, 4, 5, 1, 2) = 14 damage automatically (assuming they are evil) and blinding them for 1d4 ⇒ 4 rounds unless they make a DC22 reflex save. If they save they are dazzled for the same duration instead. He then 5' steps forward.

Yes, it's flooded. There's no light source in the room itself, but a couple of people cast light spells.
They have 60 feet of darkvision, a 30 ft. land speed, and a 40 ft. swim speed.
You can retcon haste before the surprise round!
Braxus Ironheart
|
As he moves forward, Braxus' eyes narrow and with each step his muscles swell till they threaten to burst. Suddenly his skin and eyes begin to glow and the air around him comes alive with energy.
A feeling of peace comes over him, though only for a split second before a truly frightening fury takes its place and a strange and chilling shadow comes to rest upon his shoulders.
His knuckles go white as he grips his earthbreaker and he glowers at the enemy.
"We're here to put you down. For good." he says with a deep and sinister growl.
Free action, controlled blood rage(STR). Move action to get into position. Swift action to activate Mantle of the Black Rider(snows of summer)+3 STR(His STR is now 32 for 1 min)

As in 'we're wading', or 'it's just like outside'?
There's no light source in the room itself, but a couple of people cast light spells.
Bear in mind that darkness is what I'm hoping for. Is it at least dim?
You can retcon haste before the surprise round!
Okay, deal!
| GM Kate |
It is completely flooded. It is just like outside.
Ammen's Wayfinder has a 20-foot radius of normal light. Nellie cast dancing lights. Outside of those, the room is dim. The risers are tall and cast shadows, as does the library, which reaches the ceiling.
Everyone is hasted!

Yes, that is where I intended, thanks. I did totally forget a few things. The axe is 1d6, not 1d4... and with lead blade it is 1d8. Not sure you want to re-roll damage, but big oops on my part. Also, Henrick is +4 att/damage vs undead! So that might be 8 more damage from the crit. And not that it matters, but I think haste gives another +1 to hit that I forgot about.
| GM Kate |
You can re-roll your damage! (I was wondering about the d4, to be honest!)
