Martina's muscles grow taut as she springs into action. Rushing forward ten feet, she drops her torch directly in front of her and takes a defensive posture.
full defense, current AC 23
What is it Barrakhan?
"It is a kitchen," says Barrakhan. "With some sort of miniture laboratory using drinking utensils. Odd. As though set up by a child."
"There is also some sort of construct. Get ready for battle."
So saying, he lowers his spear and readies himself for an attack by the automaton.
Construct? How fascinating! Oh how I wish I could see it! Perhaps it is not programmed for combat but to help in the lab?
Rilka slips into room, her knife glowing with light, trying to see what the others are talking about.
I think I've heard stories about constructs helping in labs and kitchens. It might be interesting to see.
Clanky: 36/36 [Bless=+1 on attack rolls and saving throws against fear; 1/10]
Attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12
Damage: 1d6 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9
As Martina steps forward, a goblinoid construct comes into view. Emerald green and metallic, this medium construct glows eerily green at its seems, and carries a falchion. Rather than using the falchion, however, the construct attempts to slam its fist into Martina, but misses badly.
All those who delayed (Rilka, Jubal, Barrakahn) and Red can act if they choose.
"Oh, I'm glad that didn't hit you Martina. That would have been painful! I'm going to try to knock him down to make him easier for you and Barrakhan to hit. Don't walk in any of the slippery parts." Gesturing quickly, Red flicks a bit of butter from her pouch onto the floor by the creature.
Casts grease (DC 16 Reflex). Map isn't working for me right now, but I'll try to leave two or three corners for Martina and Barrakhan to be able to get to him (without crossing through it themselves). Will put some on a wall if necessary.
GM - Please note that Barrakhan had a readied attack and it sounds as though the construct triggered an AoO (which Barrakhan is built for). If so, here is the AoO:
Possible AoO: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (18) + 3 = 211d8 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9
Either way, Barrakhan steps back a step and attacks again (or for the first time...)
Attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (17) + 3 = 201d8 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7
A construct made to look like a goblin. And here I thought I'd seen everything.
Taking a step back, Rilka calls out to Desna for a bit of power. Casting Divine Favor, +2 to attack and Damage due to Fate's Favored trait.
Barrakhan—thank you for pointing that out. I believe that in this case, though, it went from 15 ft. away from you to 10 ft. away, thus not provoking.
Skizzertz: 16/16 [Bless=+1 on attack rolls and saving throws against fear; 1/10]
Clanky: 31/36 [Bless=+1 on attack rolls and saving throws against fear; 1/10]
Grease spreads from the butter at Red's command, causing the construct to fall to the floor. Sensing his opportunity, Barrakhan thrusts his spear toward it, connecting. Barrakhan can tell that the spear did not completely penetrate the tough exterior of the construct.
Jubal can still act!
Jubal will move cautiously into the room and call on the fire of the Phoenix to guide Barrakhan's next attack.
Guidance on Barrakhan
Clanky: 31/36 [Bless=+1 on attack rolls and saving throws against fear; 2/10]
Martina Will Save: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (15) + 1 = 16
From the back of the room, you hear a goblinoid voice chanting. Suddenly, Martina begins to feel the urge to drop to the floor, but she resists.
Martina can act!
Martina draws her sword and meet's the construct's unblinking gaze.
"Finally, a Goblin that can look me in the eye! Have at you!"
declaring my Challenge against the Construct; +1 damage, plus another +1 if I'm ever the only person threatening the construct. IIRC, the construct is still prone, correct? So +4 to hit it?
Power Attack: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (13) + 7 = 201d8 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9
That's correct, it is still prone.
Skizzertz: 16/16 [Bless=+1 on attack rolls and saving throws against fear; 2/10]
Clanky: 24/36 [Bless=+1 on attack rolls and saving throws against fear; 2/10]
Attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7
Damage: 1d6 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8
Standing, the construct tries to lunge at Martina again, but misses badly because of the poor footing.
AoOs from Rilka and Martina, and Rilka, Jubal, Barrakhan, and Red can act! Construct is no longer prone
Barrakhan, where's the chanting coming from?
Rilka slips forward before slashing at the construct.
Attack: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (19) + 7 = 26 dang so close to a crit
Damage: 1d4 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
If Martina's attack drops the construct, Rilka will move forward slowly, watching for whoever is chanting.
"Behind the automaton, and to the right. It is a goblin shaman of some sort," growls the half-orc. "Did I mention my distaste for these little pests? It takes orcs to make proper villains."
GM, is there enough space for Barrakhan to become large size? Or does the nearby table prevent it?
If there is enough room, Barrakhan drinks an extract of enlarge person and drops his spear. If not, he attacks with his longspear.
Sorry I haven't posted in a while. Holiday's were crazy and my PC at home fried its power supply.
Is anyone injured? Besides the construct? I assume the construct is still up so...
Burning Hands w/ Pyro for +1 CL; casting defensively DC 17
Concentration: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (18) + 8 = 26 pass
Damage: 2d4 ⇒ (1, 4) = 5 DC 14 for half
Nice hit Martina! Jubas says as he steps forward and sends a sheet of flame through the construct and back to the right to try and get the unseen shaman.
