The agents head to the Shrine of the Failed, which is actually empty at the moment since the caretakers and visitors alike are out watching Sir Reinhart attempt the test of the starstone.
This monumental chamber stretches eighty feet from end to end, with a ceiling suspended thirty feet from the floor by great pillars. Seven arched passages lead to humble rooms, each of which contains a polished stone altar dedicated to one of the failed aspirants who attempted the Test of the Starstone.
Each of these chambers contains a small stone altar to one of the failed aspirants. Each altar stands upon a raised dais and bears a small brass nameplate identifying the aspirant and the would-be-god’s areas of interest.
A-Demuren: Sacrifice
B-Mellag: Rot
C-Oggo: Sixteen Poses
D-Plokkis: Spoiled Food and Wastefulness
E-Silmor: Blades
F-Gobru: Fish and Bountiful Sea
G-Spuchasta: Hallucinatory Incense and Herbs
Which altar do you wish to investigate.

Genryl heads over the Gobru's shrine. Barely able to keep a straight face he gets out a good, "Wiffle!' before laughing. "Who thought that was a good password!"

Mae hops along the whirlwind tour of Absalom with the little red head Halfling as the guide. "There is so much here to see and do, but the trees are so few and small. The air is dirty, this rain feels nice on my skin, it doesn't do well in the hot, dry sun."
She does her best to keep up as she sight sees until they get to the Shrine of the Failed. "I wonder if the man today will fail, would they give him his own place here?"
She watches the others to see what they'll do next.

She bends down and says right to the nameplate: "Wiffle!"
She then pokes at it.

DO we all have to try to make the save?
Uriah decides to stand close to Naoto as he watches the others mess with the nameplates.

"Sure did! The path and chamber are complete, hidden behind the nameplate of the requested aspirant and guarded by the word you requested. Fimbrik will add more."
Ayla nods. "In case you've forgotten, the letter at Fimbrik's read: Well, you got me!
I’m not here anymore, and my house is filled with an incredible array of illusions to discourage the curious. But you just had to break in. I respect your gumption and assume you’re either a petty burglar or someone looking into Eylysia’s affairs. I’ve left Absalom to look for my friend, for she’s been missing for some time; however, I’ve attached the name of a particular Pathfinder you’ll want to investigate at the Wall of Names at the Society Grand Lodge. I assure you, it’s quite important, but I’ll leave you to figure out why. Oh, and the password. It’s ‘Wiffle.’ You’ll find it important, should you learn where to use it. —The Illustrious Fimbrik. Hollis "Evil Grin" Thorne"
She nods again, after reciting the letter from memory. "And as I'm sure you'll recall, Hollis' name plate read, (I can't reference that on my current device right now). It happened, like, fifteen minutes ago or something, so I'm sure you remember!"
Ayla then attempts to push on the nameplate really hard while shouting 'Wiffle!' Then she tries pushing on the altar while doing the same.

Well, the 20 is nice but the fighter might have been happier seeing it in combat

GM Z..D.. |

Nothing happens when Ayla says the password. But, when she pokes the nameplate, it moves slightly to the side...

![]() |

Mae points to the nameplate "It moved a bit. Keep poking." Her long sticky finger waggling excitedly at the plate.

![]() |

Ayla slides the nameplate aside. Revealing a chalkboard and a piece of chalk she writes down the word, Wiffle

GM Z..D.. |

Once Ayla finishes writing the passwords...the illusion breaks. The western section of the wall slides back and reveals a passage way.
The cavern extends around the backside of the temple, and leads to a small study.
Several desks are arranged along the northern and eastern edges of this small stone alcove. Whereas the stonework leading to this chamber is rough, the walls in the alcove are polished. A single gem rests among the neatly filed papers on the desk, emitting a soft luminescence that brightens the small room.
Numerous papers lay about on all of the desk, which looks like it may take several months to compile what they detail. Most of them are written in an ancient dialect.

![]() |

Ayla wanders into the room then lets out a whistle. "Wow! Who'd she have to bribe to get this made?"
Before entering further she looks around, wary for further traps or tricks...
Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (5) + 7 = 12 Or 13 vs. traps.

Uriah moves into the room and starts glancing all over the papers. "Whoa. What a haul. I have no idea what any of this means, but I bet Dreng will be happy about it."

![]() |

Mae licks her bulbous eyes as the wall slides back, revealing yet another secret tunnel "Is it normal for there to be some many hidden caves around your city Ayla? I like them, nice and cool and relaxing."
She hops along with the others and looks at all the papers, nodding in agreement with Uriah.

![]() |

"As far as I can tell, this city has many undiscovered secrets." Theolish said as they looked around the room. "Lets start bundling the papers based on where we find them. Someone draw a map of the area and lets label it along with what was found so that someone can better research it.

![]() |

"Got it!" Ayla pulls out her journal and charcoal and begins to make sketches of the area. She then labels the map, and where all the papers were found.
If she happens to have time to do all that she'll quickly map the tunnels and the secret latch on the altar as well.

GM Z..D.. |

It takes the group of PC's about an our to catalog and collect all the documents.
Ayla manages to do a rough sketch of the office, cavern and then the altar.
On the way out, the Pathfinders are met by a group of robed figures blocking their exit. They wear black and grey robes and all wear identical one-eyed masks.
They say nothing, just stare at the pathfinders, but one makes their intentions clear as the figure draws a rapier and advances.

Completely flumoxed by the shrine, Genryl gives a small exclaim of surprise as he watches Ayla push back the nameplate. "Oh! That's a great find, and not a bad idea on a way to hide it. People would need to know the password AND how to use it!"
He gladly helps people pack and gather the materials, but his distinct lack of understanding on the languages used means he's rather a poor hand at sorting.
He stops short as he catches sight of the hooded figures. In a low almost hissing whisper, he warns the group, "They're followers of Norgorber! They probably want to keep this place a secret, but if we expose them they might flee... or try to kill us even harder."

Genryl gives a slight hiss as he sees the other group has a healer as well. He decides that buffing his companions might be the best idea. "Teloish! Prepare to take up a lot more space!" The heavily bearded man grasps his holy symbol with one hand, holds the other in front of his face and starts to chant a prayer. After a few words a few drops of red liquid form on the fi9ngertips of his upraised hand. He flicks them at Teloish.
As the other man grows in size, Genryl rushes closer to the fight. He finally draws his longspear, preparing for the response of the Norgorbereans.

Teloish, your attack modifier shouldn't be changing, it goes down due to larger size, but up due to extra strength so there should be no change.

I also find it helpful to add in what weapon you are using in your attack roll and description. Adds in some nice flavor and makes it easier on the GM to know what you're swinging. And us other players have a better idea of what yer swinging. Right now I'm thinking... an overgrown, slightly stiff river carp, scales flying every which way as it slams into the marble floor!
