A place for out-of-character discussion.

Welcome all. The key factor in dividing up tables was by character class. Then, I tried as best as possible to keep folks with the same, general posting times at the same table.

GM, are we allowed to read all the entries in Ulisha's journal?
GM Valen |
GM, are we allowed to read all the entries in Ulisha's journal?
Yes, the party has access to all of them as they are each contained within the journal.

Using Intimidate to change an opponent's attitude requires 1 minute of conversation. (CRB, pg. 99).
*Checks text* So it does! My mistake, I overgeneralized the demoralize an opponent option. Thank you for the correction GM!

As a paladin and aspiring hellknight, this is a challenging first scenario! Any thoughts on how I can work within the boundaries of both tenants while not letting her have the chalice or getting away with murder?
My initial inclination (without the above restraints) is to ignore the murder in exchange for the chalice. However this isn't really an option with the above restraints, although bending on the lawful side of things is more an option than bending on the good side of things. What about denying her the chalice and informing the authorities about her actions (which would likely result in combat)? This doesn't grant us the potential use of her skillset in entering the mausoleum though.
Not looking for a crazy alignment debate, just curious what y'all have to say about my current situation. I find that I tend to look at things too narrowly or that I can overly complicate situations, so feedback would be helpful here :)

Ok...I'm out of ideas. Anyone have any idea of what we're missing? Unless it's "Sin" and not "Sun" or "Son." Anyone know what the last sin might have been?
Based on what you know, the last "sin" interpretation is a pretty good one. Coupled with the fact that you have been told that Tullivor stole a chalice and was buried with it, the interpretation looks more reasonable.
Regretfully, however, I must tell you that it is an incorrect interpretation. In my attempt to keep to the spirit of the riddle, which when read as stated in the scenario contains an ambiguity--one completely eliminated in the PbP format when the riddle is spelled out.
The ambiguous word is either "son" or "sun".
(I apologize for being overly misleading.)

In an effort to make it easier to post and keep track of where PCs are, I have cropped the tactical map to expand its size. I also moved the map of Gralton to the slides with Ulisha's Excerpts (along with the maps of other areas for future quests).
Please make sure that your PC is in the current and correct spot.
T'Shar |
Hey guys! Sorry I’m a little slow this week. I have intense activities at work until Thursday so it’s affecting my posting capabilities. I’ll normalize soon! Thanks for the understanding ;)

Despite being described as 5ft long, my weapon is not a reach weapon. I would have to be adjacent to the door to strike it.

Thanks for clarifying! I have updated your spot on the map accordingly.
The closer position may have impacted Rhiannon's move, but I am inclined to avoid any further "retcon" and just proceeding as we are now. I admit that I am in a bit of a gray area, but since the party was not "in combat" when she began to move, I am still going to allow Rhiannon to move through the space. However, am I also allowing those I mentioned to "react" with attacks, grapple attempts, or other if they so choose, so her movement is not without some cost.
If there are objections to doing this, feel free to raise them here or via PM if you prefer. Otherwise, we'll just continue from where we are now.

How many quests are in this series again?
Six quests total. Due to the puzzle and more interactive roleplaying, this first quest takes a bit longer than the others.
Shenendril al-Ranginori |
Did we ever divide up the loot from the last quest? I'd like to lay claim to the healing potion and the tanglefoot bag.
And if no one else wants it, I'll take the masterwork crossbow, too.
Kenji Haru |
Kenji just took the armor.

With Gameday rapidly approaching and the current quest about to come to a close, I plan to put the remaining 4 on hold.
In addition to T'Shar, if any other PC needs a completed Chronicle for the first two quests prior to Gameday, please let me know as soon as possible. Anyone who intends to play the current PC between now and the end of Gameday should request a Chronicle. Otherwise, while I will report the quests, I plan to hold off on issuing Chronicles, since they will have be altered anyways as additional quests are completed.
Please note that your current PC can continue to play the remaining quests as long as it has not been played in any other scenarios in between. If you play the current PC in another scenario between now and when I resume running the remaining quests (I had planned to do so post Gameday in November, but my "back half" of Gameday looks pretty light at present so I may be convinced to move it up if there is consensus). All players are welcome to play in the remaining quests, but those quests will have to be played/assigned to a separate character.
Kenji Haru |
Thanks GM! I will not play any games with Kenji and will wait for us to resume our game.
GM Valen |
The other characters to bring - do they have to be fresh, or can they have a chronicle or two on their sheets?
As long as a PC is first level and has not played the same quest previously, the PC may play in the quest.
Pelagos Sing |
Chronicle for me please! I have really enjoyed your style of GMing and want to keep playing in your games, but I have signed up for a Gameday game with this character.
GM Valen |
I'm glad folks are enjoying the quests.
I will try to get Chronicles to T'Shar and Pelagos (anyone else) soon, but it may be Monday.
Please note - Yesterday, I learned that I was mistaken about reporting requirements for these quests. Apparently, 4 quests have to be completed before the game can be reported. I have been in contact with Venture Agent Redelia, who confirmed that I can issue paper (pdf) chronicles to those who have asked for them and that those chronicles are official, valid, and controlling even though the playing of these quests may not be reported for sometime. She is looking into the matter and I will pass along what I learn.
Thanks again for a fun game!
Kenji Haru |
Thanks GM!!
GM Valen |
Seized a quick moment. Chronicles for the first two quests for Pelagos and T'Shar can be found here!
Happy gaming!
GM Valen |
I believe that I can put this Campaign on inactive and then make it active again (re-active?) shortly before we resume play, so that is what I intend to do. This should clear some space on folks' active campaign list (which you may need for Gameday).
I will, however, remain active for a few days longer so folks can get this message.
Kenji Haru |
That is a great idea! Thanks GM!
Kenji Haru |
I am still here! ;-)
GM Valen |
Now mustering for the final four quests. Please post and let me know if you will be continuing and, if so, with which PC.
We will start once everyone has checked in or November 27th, whichever is later.
GM Valen |
Still down one player, who I have sent a PM. However, I suppose we can resume with the hope that they will be joining us shortly.
GM Valen |
My posting the next 10 days will likely be limited, but I decided not to stop completely as I think we had a good momentum going and I didn't want to break it completely.
Even with limited posting for a week or so, I suspect we will be completed before mid-January.
Kenji Haru |
Thanks GM! Was the spider out 5th mission?
GM Valen |
Thanks GM! Was the spider out 5th mission?
Spiders were first half of the 5th quest. There are 6 quests in total.
GM Valen |
Well done all! I probably won't have the game reported and chronicle sheets up until Monday.
Thanks for a fun run and I look forward to sharing a table with each of you in the future!
