Peering through the small slit in his mask Kalendir does not see the lightning bolt coming his direction at all as he takes the full brunt of it. Every hair on his body stands on end as his arm jerks outward.

Calming himself Kalendir sees that somehow he still survived as small tendrils of smoke rise from his head.

Once again drawing on his bowstring Kalendir fires a series of arrows across the table at the purple drider. The Lightning still seems to have an effect on his muscles as his arm expectantly jerks some more while firing his arrows.

    Retro to heal permitted, if necessary.

    Racing back down the steps in Skyreach, the party maneuvers its way to the chamber holding the Sky Key, a tall library ringed by a walkway around its perimeter to provide access to a second level of towering bookshelves. On the floor, a broad Qadiran rug leads to a short pedestal within a tall glass case that itself sits within an inscribed circle — all cordoned off by a velvet rope suspended from brass poles. Several plush chairs and a few low tables bearing curios line the lower floor, and two decorative suits of armor stand at attention, each with a crossbow resting against its shoulder. Heatless torches blaze with remarkably even light in sconces throughout the room, and a tall pendulum clock against the eastern wall ticks each passing second as its hands move erratically.

    The pedestal, however, stands empty!

    As you step through the door, a ghostly image of a short Mwangi man, wearing little more than a loincloth and a smile, appears in the center of the room. His likeness eerily begins to slide through the display case. His rich, clipped voice echoes as he speaks to an unseen party. Dread! They have stolenized the Sky Key! The image takes a look about before continuing. It also appears they have disruptified the auxiliary stabilizer. He pauses before continuing. Do you feel that? I am sickened all of the sudden. I am for hoping they did not try to disassemble it, or worse, bring it too closely to the Hao Jin Tapestry. I am remeberizing that is why Master Zey kept them so far ap—

    The figure's words go unfinished as he begins to scream and dissolve, fading from view in a matter of seconds. As it does, another figure fades into existence, large and draconic in shape, with horns jutting from its beaked head and spikes covering its hide. It gives a deafening screech as its wings flap about, unfamiliar with its surroundings but confused and angry, and all too willing to take out that angry confusion on an assembled group of Pathfinders!

    DC 20 Kn (arcana):
    This is a rift drake, a savage and brutal dragon, though as a drake its intellect is hardly comparable to an actual dragon. This rift drake appears to have shifting colors across its scales, as though it were enhanced somehow (Kn: planes check if applicable).

    DC 25 Kn (arcana):
    Rift drakes have the pounce ability and wounds inflicted from their maw continue to bleed after they hit.

    DC 30 Kn (arcana):
    Rift drakes have a breath weapon: a ball of caustic gas that bursts into a cloud upon impact. This gas also can slow the victims.

    Sorry, guys, had Real Life stuff last night, or maybe we coulda gotten in on the "turn the Sky Key chamber yellow" party.

    Merisiel successfully uses a reroll! Her rapier, however, has a difficult time penetrating the skin of the drake, and doesn't do nearly as much damage as she thought it would!

    The drake thinks Merisiel looks like a tasty morsel, so it decides to find out!
    bite w/higher ground: 1d20 + 18 + 1 ⇒ (13) + 18 + 1 = 32
    bite dmg: 2d8 + 10 ⇒ (2, 8) + 10 = 20 and the wound really hurts (bleed)
    tali slap w/higher ground: 1d20 + 12 + 1 ⇒ (15) + 12 + 1 = 28
