Slachagok - It was the charge I was objecting to. I think it would take two move actions to get there - there aren't (thankfully) a lot of rules on swinging from organ pipes, so I was likening it to climbing. You interpretation is objectively as good as mine, but... as GM I gotta make a call. Hope you're okay with that ruling.
Moving this along in an attempt to finish before Gameday.
Guido smashes the last Black Echelon operative with a roundhouse kick to the ribs.
Not long after, the heroes play the hymn to Abadar and end the threat of the Silent Tide. Now only Nessian remains.

Scene V: The Pyramid of the Dog
You approach the ruined siege towers that form the Pyramid of the Dog. You can see that three outer towers have collapsed in and rest on one central tower, from which a siege bridge extends out into the air twenty feet up. The door to the central tower is guarded by a huge and mean-looking dog tethered to a pole. Figures can be seen lurking in the doorway of the outer towers.
The rocks are difficult terrain and tall enough to provide cover.
If you wanted to do healing or buffing, do so now pre-combat. Otherwise, go to it.
You win initiative. Go!

Sure, no objections. I was just trying to understand the reasoning behind it. I hear organ-top battles are coming back in a big way in Season 5, so I want to make sure I'm current on all the mechanics.
Slach has retrieved his greataxe from where he dropped it, and has drawn it as they approached the temple.
"The hell is this place," Slachagok wonders aloud as the group pauses some yards away from the tower. He eyes the guard dog chained outside the entrance. "I think this Nessian has a bit o' a thing for canines."
He glances toward the nearest thug, watching the party from a collapsed tower.
"Maybe we take care o' these other sons'a first."
Slachagok will move NE, NE, NE, NE and attack Thug? A. Not sure what kind of obstacle the doorway poses, if any. If Slach can charge-attack, he will. If he can't, normal move action in the same direction, then standard action attack. Arcane Strike (swift) first, in either case.

Iason moves 2E, then casts Daze on Thug A. Will save DC 13.
Etrigan charges the doggie, since I think he has a clear line.
Chaaarge: 1d20 + 6 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 6 + 2 = 22

-2 Etrigan AC, so he is at either 14, or 18 (if Iason had a chance to put Mage Armor up on him).
Iason walks forward with a scowl, gesturing with his hand at the nearest of the lurking figures. "I tire of this. Do nothing, fool," he says shortly.
Etrigan is fixed only on the dog. It's a real dog! It has flesh! He can eat it! He breaks into a loping run, dropping to hands and feet, as he tears across the open ground towards the tethered hound. Prudent battle plans? What are those?
"Stay back in safety if you wish

Slachagok charges the War Hounder thug in the nearest outer tower and drives his sword straight through the villain's heart!
Etrigan and Guido race side-by-side toward the dog, each trying to outdo the other. Between them, the poor chained animal drops unconscious and bleeding to the dirt.
Flinkae and Iason move cautiously eastwards.
Hearing the commotion, the two other War Hounders leave their towers and open fire on Etrigan and his master, Iason. One crossbow bolt slices into the demon's shoulder, drawing blood.
Etrigan takes 3 points of damage

"Cease this. Every arrow you fire at me means another bone broken before you die," he informs the thug, while his free hand sketches an arcane gesture.

Sounds like they have that pair under control, Slachagok thinks, listening to the sounds of whimpers and screams from the front side of the tower.
He peeks around the left side of the wall, following the path of the bolt that had just flown towards Iason.
"They got guts, I'll give 'em that."
He dashes around to the bowman, cornering the thug between the two ruined towers.
Slachagok hustles NW, Nx7, NE, ending N of Thug C.

Iason shocks the northern thug into inaction while Slachagok moves to block his reatreat. Etrigan spars with the eastern thug, but without result.
The eastern thug retreats a step, loads his crossbow and fires point-blank at Guido. The Varisian monk neatly sidesteps the blow.
Meanwhile, the door opens to the central tower and two War Hounders pile out with crossbows. Both fire from the hip. One quarrel strikes Flinkae in the thigh. Then, high above, a figure steps out onto the siege bridge that sticks out over the plain and roars "You curs won't live long enough to rue the day you challenged me!"
Nessian fires his composite longbow at Flinkae, but strikes only dirt.

Iason jogs up to the dazed War Hounder and strikes him a solid blow with his morningstar. Meanwhile, the thug narrowly avoids Slachagok's devastating strike and seems surprised when the half-orc runs off.

Elsewhere, Guido leaps up to shoulder height and lashes out with a booted snap kick, striking his opponent squarely in the side of the head. The thug drops like a back street drunk.

Iason looks massively irritated at the fleeing man. He'd just as soon let him go-- he has better things to spend his time on-- but he has no guarantee the man is truly fleeing, and not preparing to double around on them.

Not sure what's going on with the movement. Flinkae seems to be charging into Etrigan's square?
Slachagok continues his sprint, rounding the ruined structure and coming back into view of the main clash. He looks up at Nessian, watching the group from his perch.
"If ye want to save us all th' trip," he shouts up at the gang leader, "ye can jus' jump now. Promise we'll try to catch ye."
S, S, SE, SE, SE; E, NE, NE, N into Thug E's former square. If Thug E isn't down, Slach will end SW of him instead. If anyone wants to retcon their move into either of those squares, just put Slach as close to the door as possible.
| Tarondor |
Yeah, but 5N puts you in D's square, having somehow charged through Etrigan. Even 4N would put you in Etrigan's square. You can't charge "D" because Etrigan blocks the only straight-line movement, and E is dead before you arrive. I'm having Flinkae simply hustle north.
War Hounder D's AoO on Slachagok: 1d20 + 2 - 2 ⇒ (17) + 2 - 2 = 171d4 - 1 ⇒ (4) - 1 = 3

Iason chases the fleeing War Hounder, making great swooshing swings with his morningstar. Meanwhile, Etrigan eviscerates one of the two War Hounders before the gate, terrifying the other. Flinkae then runs up behind him.
Guido dashes around the combat and seizes the startled War Hounder by his belt and lapel. Then, seemingly out of nowhere, Slachagok appears and dashes past Guido and the War Hounder. The thug makes him pay for this act of bravado by slashing at him with his "dog claws" and raking his stomach as the half-orc passes.
Unable to target anyone standing directly below him, Nessian disappears back into the tower. You can't see what he's up to. The grappled Warhounder slashes at Guido, but the monk neatly turns the blow. Iason's foe flees the field (and this story - he's gone).
Anyone, go!
Iason Blaise
|
"Bah," Iason remarks to the fleeing man. Oh well. Later on, perhaps, he may set Etrigan to track him down. A reputation is a useful thing to have. For now he turns his attention to the situation at hand, wheeling around to run and rejoin the others.
Run action, 4x movement, so he just runs all the way to rejoin the others and will stop directly S of Etrigan.
Etrigan does.... what he so enjoys doing. His taloned hands seek out intestines and flesh once more, a pleased leer on his face for how scared the fellow is.

Slachagok
|
Whoops. Shoulda thought out that movement path a bit more.
Slachagok grunts with surprise as the grappled warhound slashes him, though Etrigan deprives the bard of reprisal a second later. The bard continues his dash up the stairs towards the top of the pyramid.

Iason jogs up behind his pet demon, who is shlurping a bit of intestines off his fingers and looking exceedingly cheerful.
"Hold still, you're injured," the Chelaxan mutters, and touches the outsider with the wand.
"I'm eating."
"Not yet you're not. There's work to be done still."
Etrigan looks mournful, and stares down at the two humans at his feet.
"Later, Etrigan. Work before pleasure!"
The outsider sighs.
"Work, work, work-- and always, delayed, my pleasure...
"But for how long? The most important question!
"Someday I'll bide not in seeking out my treasure:
"Your beating heart, I'll take apart, as I hear your sins' confession...
"Tomorrow, perhaps. Today, I'll feast on Nessian."
And the monster turns to scramble after the others. Inside, Etrigan realizes the stairwell is very clogged. He starts to try and scamper up the wall, claws digging into the stone.
Iason move: 3 E, 2 NE. Infernal Healing on Etrigan.
Etrigan move: NW, N, NE, N (squeezing with Guido), then beginning to attempt to climb the inner side of the stairwell. If the stairwell wall is too steep for that, that's fine.

I assume that Flinkae means SW, not SE. Sadly, that's not a rail; it s wall. Also, Nessian is in a position in which he cannot be flanked.
To keep this thing moving, I'm going to interpret Flinkae's move to be "step up and chop" and Guido's to be "tumble through Flinkae's new location and the narrow gap between wall and table."

Iason heals Etrigan, who then dashes into the tower and climbs the walls above Guido.
Slachagok stabs at Nessian, who blocks the shot with ease. The bard then leaps onto the nearby table, clearing some space at the top of the stairs. Flinkae lunges forward, nicking Nessian's exposed forewarm with his kama.
Guido leaps up, pushes off the northern wall and lands between Flinkae and Slachagok. Nessian is as startled by this as everyone else and stares with maw agape as Guido seizes his arms.
Roused, Nessian turns on Guido with fury. "Touch me and draw back a stump, you son of a b+@+@!" Yet his attack belies his words. In the close quarters combat, his flail has little room to swing and Guido is unharmed.

Sorry, realized my phrasing of 'inner wall' was ambiguous. I meant the stairwell wall closer to Nessian. If that wall would be unclimable then he's on this wall!
Climb: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (16) + 5 = 21
As I was originally visualizing his movement, that would put him in the square directly east of Guido's current location. I leave it to your discretion as to whether that is feasible movement.
Then it's round the sparring combatants, to get to anywhere that offers him a chance to claw! Moving to the square W of Slach, again, if feasible. If that square can only be occupied bye squeezing, that is fine. If it can't be occupied at all, he'd stop in the square S of Slach.
Acrobatics, long jump, probably DC 10 or higher at GM discretion: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 2 = 16
(A 5-foot long jump is DC 5, which doubles to 10 if you do not have a running start. Up to you if any other modifiers apply for the craziness of what Etrigan is trying to do.)
Etrigan will then scamper through the room to the far side of Slach! Moving to the square W of Slach, if feasible. If that square can only be occupied bye squeezing, that is fine. If it can't be occupied at all, he'd stop in the square S of Slach.
Meanwhile, back at the ranch...
Iason makes a much more sedate and less athletic way up the stairs. Double move to the square due E of Flinkae.
