First.
I think the three of us got as far as Hunters of Knowledge and ancient relics on Castrovel. So asssuming the other 3 show up and agree with that we can go from there. I'll probably be on planet learning about psionics from the locals perhaps the best way to do this would be to join the space version of the PFS?
Nebari, I will come up with said faction and get back to you on that.
Everyone else, gameplay will proceed once a consensus on group background is reached. The adventure's plot will remain basically unchanged.

I do believe we agreed on the hunters of stuff, I don't think we ever got around to getting the group together. Since I already posted that I'm on the ship with DEM, I'll roll with that, sort of the Arthur Dent to his Ford Prefect (if he's game for it).
We did agree on the backstory, but we need the DM to give us a lead. Some ruin or something that we have all heard about somehow that we think has something good in it for some reason.
An alien ruin has been discovered in the Ocean of Mists east of the Lashunta city of Qabarat, the largest and most opulent city-state on Castrovel. You guys all met on Verces, aboard one of the great Aetherships and, recognizing you all had a common goal, decided to pool your resources. Another group, composed entirely of alien races, did the same and it is now a race to reach the ruins first once the ship docks. Oh yes, there will be competition! Scripted, but competition nonetheless. What do you think?

Works. So should we go about this the protagonist or antagonist way?
Protagonist: race to get though first and sweat and bleed to get though all the dangers inherent.
antagonist: watch the Protagonists and wait. When the protagonist are worn out getting the thing snatch it from there tired hands.
Pro. More fun that way.
How you handle it is up to the group. As a sandbox GM, I prefer players to make decisions, especially moral ones. You could either decide now or wait on the decision until later after you have observed the rival group more.

Well the ruins are going to be in the wilderness. (that's why they are called ruins) So I just want to make sure we won't get lost and starve. (well you guys starve anyway)

Yes, they are on the same ship, as you guys don't have your own ship yet and are having to use 'commercial Aetherships', so to speak.
As far as faction, that's your choice. Nebari wanted to be part of a sort of space-Pathfinders style faction, but it's optional.
You guys don't have to come up with a group name, but you can if you want for flavor.
I am PM'ing the others to see if they are still playing. If they are not, I will either have to go recruit 2 more people or adjust the first 3 adventures.
Think of the paperwork and the customs officials. Having a name smooths things over and sets us = or > our competition.

Maybe assassins got to them in order to steal their spots. I'm ok W/3 I'll have to pick up the various healing powers at some point though.
We can just bump someone off for their wand of cure light.

I was thinking this was gonna be tough without a melee charater but that just means more fire-fights with laser weapons.

D.E.M., I was choosing to gradually reveal details as the posts came, much like a book is read. That's my particular style of GM'ing, as it instills a certain sense of realism in the game. As for the party background and stuff, I was assuming that you guys had discussed it, because I had asked in an earlier post in recruitment for you guys to think about the group background, goals, ect, so I apologize for making an assumption. If you feel that you need to leave, then no hard feelings.

No worries TSP, I'm still here, and I'm just waitin for my turn in the other game. I'm certainly willing to try 2-manning this game, and maybe while we do that, TSP could open another recruitment thread?

Thanks for sticking with me despite the bumpy beginnings guys. We have a few options with how to proceed. We can attempt a game with you two having aid with an NPC or two until we can recruit some extra players, we can do a game where you two are gestalt characters, or something of that nature. Let me know what you want to do and I'll do my best to make it work.
Either is fine by me, I know gestalt but have never done it before.
Rax, what is your preference? Nebari said he's fine with either option.
