Tanwen Anwyl |
Masterwork Falcata: 1d20 + 8 + 1 ⇒ (14) + 8 + 1 = 231d8 + 3 + 1d6 ⇒ (1) + 3 + (3) = 7
With two of the three goblins that approached her landing blows, Tanwen decides to deliver a blow of her own on the one that missed her.
GM Rednal |
Shalluk's arrow bounced off of the leader's breastplate, though Tanwen's blade was accurate enough, and sliced into one of the goblins. It yelped, even as its allies moved into a flanking position and began stabbing out again as the music continued to play.

Melee (Tanwen): 1d20 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 4 + 2 = 17
Melee (Tanwen): 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (11) + 4 = 15
With good footwork and a good blade on her side, though, the Cavalier was quite able to fend off their blows. The leader darted across the room - borne by his steed - a moment later, slashing out at Shalluk to try and take him down before the arrows could start finding their mark.
Melee (Shalluk): 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (8) + 11 = 19 for Damage: 2d4 + 10 ⇒ (4, 4) + 10 = 18
The charge of his steed seemed to be adding extra strength to his blows - as long as he was able to dart around the room, he'd be hitting pretty hard.
Tyranius Tekushikume |
Guess I am unsure how far away the leader is from me.
Tyranius quickly disappears into the shadows as he shifts himself slightly at the mounted goblin.
Reappearing in a flash Tyranius lashes out at the goblin's mount with his shortsword and slashes at it with his Tekko-Kagi in a quick fluid motion to finish the beast.

With the three goblins still focused on her, Tanwen lets loose her breath weapon, hoping to damage all three of them to speed things up.
Shalluk |
Sorry I didn't make it clear, I was shooting the Bard/Chanter guy. Not that I expect it to make much difference with that roll.
Scooting backwards to avoid the blade, Shalluk turned his focus back to the leader. With the click of gears he locked another bolt into place and opened up on the leader.
Crossbow Bolt: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (6) + 8 = 14
Damage: 1d10 ⇒ 5
Or that one.
GM Rednal |
Yeaaah, one of the drawbacks of PbP's - true tactical stuff is a bit harder. Mostly, I wing it - in the player's favor. XD If you THINK you're able to do something, you probably are. You can always ask if you're unsure.
Shalluk's crossbow bolt missed the chanter, though Tanwen was able to step around and get two of the goblins with her blast.

Sadly, both were able to dodge the worst of the fire (though not all of it - they weren't THAT fast). Even as that was going on, though, Tyranius was able to bring the mount down (rather permanently), earning a cry of mixed surprise and rage from the leader. The first hit had been deftly avoided, too - rather impressive, given the benefits of invisibility and sneak attacking - but the second was enough to put the gecko down.
With angry cries, one of the goblins attacking Tanwen darted over towards Tyranius (provoking an Attack of Opportunity from her), intending to stab out even as the leader went for his own weapons.

GM Rednal |
This time, Shalluk's bolt shot true, even as the goblin deftly parried away Tyranius' blows. Tanwen, meanwhile, had managed to land a blow on the moving goblin - dropping it for good.
Their leader just spat on the ground near Tyranius' feet. "Try it!" he howled before lashing out with his own weapon, aiming to carve into the warrior's body even as his other warriors continued to flank and assault Tanwen.

With the goblins slowly sapping away her health, Tanwen continues to focus on the wounded goblin, hoping to decrease her chances of falling.
GM Rednal |
Tanwen, the normal wounded goblin was already down - soooo I'm just gonna assume you're attacking one of the others. XD
Shalluk's crossbow bolt was, er, less than accurate in his most recent shot (the floor, while a big target, was not what he was aiming at), while Tyranius narrowly managed to strike the leader of the goblins - and ultimately drove his weapon deep into its body. Tanwen's falcata slash was likewise accurate, promptly downing one of the other goblins attacking her. With those two blows combined, things weren't looking too good for the Goblins, who had just their leader, the chanter, and one of the normal warriors left.
Someone with sense might have given up at this point. Goblins... did not have sense. Some of them did have decent aim, though.

Tanwen swings her blade down on the single goblin that was still attacking her, hoping to soon join the others in taking down the leader and his mount.
GM Rednal |
Tyranius, remember that only your first attack from invisibility is a sneak attack unless you're flanking (or otherwise meeting the criteria for that ability). ^^
Tyranius' first attack was deflected - the second managed to land, skewering the leader of the goblins. The Warchief wasn't down yet - he could probably take at least another few weak hits - but he'd definitely been injured. Meanwhile, Shalluk's bolt struck true (earning a yelp of pain from the chanter and, more importantly, stopping him from continuing to chant) even as Tanwen cut down the last of the normal goblins.
The chanting one let out a shrill cry and started running for the exit, apparently no longer interested in sticking around to get poked by the longshanks.
Withdrawing through the southeast door.
The leader let out an angry cry in his native tongue a moment later, shaking his fist towards the fleeing goblin before stabbing out at Tyranius again.

With only the leader and it's mount left to deal with, Tanwen wastes no time tumbling into flank with Tyranius before attacking the goblin leader.
GM Rednal |
An arrow struck the goblin that had been chanting, but it wasn't enough to drop the creature before it ran out of sight - and Tanwen's blow struck the leader a moment later, digging deeply into its flesh. Sadly, Tyranius' strikes had been a bit too shallow... and the leader, realizing how cornered he was starting to become, thrust out at Tanwen's chest before backing five feet away, working to circle around Tanwen.

Tanwen Anwyl |
Perhaps confronting the leader was not the brightest idea Tanwen had had she thought as she took another blow from one of these creatures. At this point it was painfully obvious that this fight would end shortly, one way or the other, but Tanwen had to try her best to push the odds in her favor.

However, in an attempt to heal herself, she fails to get her spell off as she tries to not leave an opening for the goblin leader to strike.

Shalluk moved up to the wounded Tanwen and laid his hand on her shoulder, pouring positive energy into her wounds.

The spell was unusually successful, and Shalluk smiled. He tried to explain, but the words came out in a babble of Aklo. With a frustrated grunt, the Oracle nodded towards the chieftain.
GM Rednal |
With a pair of well-timed thrusts - helped significantly by the flanking provided by Tanwen - Tyranius was able to put the leader of the goblins down for good, and a gurgling cry came from the small creature's throat as the lifeless body slumped to the ground... and left the room clear of enemies.

"I should be plenty healed in a minute." Tanwen reassures her companions.
Tyranius Tekushikume |
I could use a little healing myself. Tyranius says as he holds the goblins clothing to his bleeding side. Tyranius' breathing is labored. I am about out of tricks. We should find a place to rest soon.
Shalluk |
"It's a concern," Shalluk agreed as he placed a hand on Tyranius' shoulder, "But if we need I can take us back to town in a few minutes. And back, now I know the way."
Cure Light Wounds: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11
Tyranius Tekushikume |
Tyranius nods his head. Sounds good.
Looking around Tyranius has little clue where to go next.
Maybe the goblins will be a little more cooperative now that we killed this leader.
Shalluk |
Checking the fallen leader and removing the potions, Shalluk stood up. "I doubt it. They don't seem overly reasonable. And the Cleric is still out there, so they will not be too worried. They may even believe she can bring them back." Shalluk paused, looking at them and then the dead leader. "Could she?"
Tanwen Anwyl |
"Regardless of weather she can or cannot, we need to find her and deal with her eventually. If we leave these creatures here and return to town, others may find them here dead. And if we rest here, others may find us." Tanwen offers her thoughts on the matter at hand.
Shalluk |
"It's a toss up then," the Tiefling added, "Between risking carrying on with our abilities weakened and resting and allowing them to prepare for our return. I believe we can continue at least a little longer, but I am happy to leave if you wish."
Tyranius Tekushikume |
Tyranius sees three new doors. Which one should we try next?
Tyranius Tekushikume |
Tyranius nods in agreement and sets off after the enchanter, barreling through the open door.
Shalluk |
Shalluk looked around the corridor, searching for any sign of the Goblin's passing - an ajar door, a broken cobweb, fresh droplets of blood from one of the wound he had received. The last thing he wanted was this places defenders rallied to fight all at once.

Tyranius follows the goblin's tracks south through the guard tower. We have to find the little green runt quick before he alerts the entire fort.
Shalluk |
Nodding, Shalluk followed, crossbow at the ready. If they could catch it fast enough, even if the Goblin found reinforcements, they wouldn't get swarmed.
Tanwen Anwyl |
Tanwen held her Falcata ready as she followed Tyranius into the Guard Tower, knowing that it was fairly likely that someone inhabited it, most likely a guard.
Shalluk |
Watch tower...it might have something to signal that the Goblins are under attack up there. With a grunt Shalluk followed, hoping to stop the Goblin before whatever signal was up there could be used.
Tanwen Anwyl |
If someone had ran through the door, they must have been in a hurry Tanwen though, that meant that they too likely needed to hurry after the creature. "It appears someone ran through this door recently, we should follow without delay." She says aloud as she rushes over to the open door into the entrance hall.
GM Rednal |
The entrance hall is empty - though the front doors look like they were opened slightly wider.
Up the tower, the area is mostly empty... but there are signs it's been used, including a deck of mismatched playing cards lying in the middle of floor. A check reveals no signs of magic here - the cards are quite mundane.
