Vaklam is silent while Cimri recounts their minor heist, but after she leaves, he questions whom he believes is Razelago. "Not that I mind the gold, nor was this an overly difficult task, but it was an odd one. Why have us rob a tannery, even if it employs a substantial number of Longacre's citizens?"

"Jabral Louslik hasn’t been paying his fair share of taxes. Beyond that, he is also very opinionated. He’d oppose the cooperation I’d like to see among Longacre’s people. I’d prefer that his influence be weakened — and no one trusts a poor man." Razelago answered, seeming faintly pleased by the question.

We did not take any paperwork or the lockbox with Louslik's monies, right?

"Interesting, what sort of cooperation are you looking for? My family has some influence among the older veterans of the town, due to my father. Perhaps I could leverage that and them in your favor?"

You did take several items of fairly notable value - and you're pretty sure Cimri took some other stuff when you weren't looking.

"Hmhm. Rest assured that I shall see your eagerness turned to profit. All things in due time, however. For now, I suggest you go get your payment from Cimri and enjoy yourself a little. This is only the beginning of a much more... interesting... part of your life."

Vaklam bows slightly. "Thank you sir. I eagerly await my chance to further your cause."

With that, he heads downstairs and looks for Cimri, and their spoils.

It's nearing dawn by the time you head downstairs, and you see Cimri there, looking rather cheerful. "You know, Vaklam, they say crime doesn't pay... but all things considered I think they're wrong." she said, gesturing to a bag. "Hundred gold there - I won't feel bad if you wanna count it. Stuff by it is yours, too." Next to the bag, you found a masterwork mace, along with eight bottles of a fine Wiscrani barbera wine, several loaves of fresh bread, garlic-flavored butter, and a variety of smoked fish and boar’s meat.

Incidentally, the accuracy of your weapons should be behind their name, not in front. That way, it won't get confused with things like, say, a +3 club.

Vaklam chuckles as he counts his coin. "Oh, I definitely agree crime pays. It was nice working with someone as professional as you. Perhaps we can do so again sometime."

He hefts the mace after making sure all hundred gold are there, then looks around for a larger bag to carry everything out in.

Eventually, you found a bag that would be good enough. Cimri, meanwhile, was about halfway through one of her own groups... and she grinned a bit drunkenly as she tossed a dagger up and down. "Feel like a game or two before you go? Strictly for fun, of course." she said, flicking a hand and sending her dagger shooting towards a marked spot on one of the posts.

Vaklam nods, and tosses a dagger that lands way off target. "My aim's not that great, but I don't mind playing." He chucks another dagger that lands a bit closer, but still misses.

"Practice makes perfect - and you never know when it'll come in handy." Cimri answered with a grin. After a few rounds, you finally said your goodbyes and headed to your bed for the night. It wasn't as fancy as it could have been, but hey, it wasn't a rock outside.

Cimri came to find you around noon - given how late (or rather, early) you'd gone to bed, any earlier would have been a bit ridiculous. Her message was simple - Razelago wanted to meet with you again. Immediately. His office was much the same as before, save for a small black, lacquered box that sat on the table before the paper screen.

"With the number of veterans who live in town, it’s not surprising that there’s a church of Iomedae in Longacre. But there might not be one much longer if Tileavia Allamar, its priestess, does what she has in mind."

Razelago’s silhouette clasps shadowy hands. "There’s growing unrest in the empire, and not just in Pezzack and along the Hellcoast. Many of Iomedae’s faithful have begun speaking more boldly of the monarchy’s vices and the rights of citizens. They seem to believe this is Andoran and that the people have only to reach out to seize power. But they are wrong. This is Cheliax, not Andoran, and we know where true power lies."

"Fifth Sword Knight Allamar is gathering all who will listen for a sermon in front of her church this afternoon — only two short hours from now. I don’t know what she has in mind, but I suspect some revolutionary claptrap that can only sow the seeds of confusion and frustration among Longacre’s citizens. That is contrary to my wishes. So I’d like you to attend the rally. In the box are sashes marked with the insignia of Archbaron Fex. Wear them, remind people that the lord of this town is not without supporters, and see what transpires. Afterward, Cimri will report back to me. In return, you will all receive double what you did last night."

Vaklam nods "That seems simple enough. Is there any sort of specific message I should send, aside from general support of the Archbaron?" He inquires.

Thinking, he continues. "Also, are there any dissidents I should be aware of, or keep an eye out for?"

"Supporting the Archbaron is the important thing. Some of the rabble - especially those following Iomedae and the Fifth Sword Knight - may try to act. You may also see the Sheriff there. Do try to avoid getting arrested."
