I would appreciate a description of what Jebat sees and the results of him raining lightning on the summoned creatures. He's away from the current conversation. Thanks

Looking out through the many trees - although their presence limited sight and made it more than slightly challenging to see everything - Jebat noticed a few major things. First, there were twenty or so areas where the trees were rustling and the sounds of combat could be heard. Second, several of the beasts were close by, rough creatures about twice the size of a normal man and covered in dense fur. As Listrana stabbed her blade in, the Wizard reached up-

1d20 + 5 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 5 + 2 = 15

-and didn't quite manage to grab her arm. He might have been trying to do something, but a certain demigoddess was suppressing things...

I thought we were on a plain... oh well

Jebat did not like the lack of visibility to the horizon. As he floated in the air observing, he called the clouds to descend and block the line of sight of his enemies to give his allies an advantage.

Sky: The Clouds Below (On Turn) Commit Effort. Fill the air around you with mist, up a 300 foot radius. You and your allies can see through it, but others with normal senses can see no further than five feet around them. The clouds can douse any mundane fire and allow every ally within it to ignore the first 5 points of fire damage they take each round.

My campaign tab didn't update that people had posted, I assumed the game was bogged down again

Listrana slams her sword in to the caster again.

Things were pretty wonky after that server update they did, yeah. o_O

Incidentally, uh, does anyone want to use their Fray die? It doesn't work on the Wizard, but if you can see the monsters milling about, it's basically a free attack. XD I don't think any of you have really used it in awhile, but it IS a power you all have.

We haven't fought any unworthy opponents before, ever. The undead would have been, but we snuck past them mostly. Are they within Fray range?

Can Listrana use Fray dice? Does she have anyone around besides the wizard? If so, she auto hits and auto does damage from the ability in her sword? I'm sorry, this hasn't come up since I joined,
so I don't know what fray dice is... I've never run into an unworthy opponent either

All of you can use fray dice whenever you meet the criteria for use. If I remember right, it works out to sight range, so any of you acting to GET sight on all the monsters in the woods - like, say, Jebat - can take advantage of it.

Up above, Jebat sees twenty or so locations where misshapen monsters have come out - broadly in a big circle around your area, and currently very much focused on the friends you brought along.

Fray (If Listrana can see any creatures around): 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3

On a side note, Listrana's sword damage should be 1d10+1+3, not 1d10+1+2, I've been doing it wrong, she gets to use Wisdom to her damage, as she perceives the best place to stick the sword. So not sure that matters retroactively, but going forward please add 1 if I forget.

"I'll deal with this one, you should all go deal with his creatures, he's not worth your time at this point."

Did I miss the result and description of Jebat's last action to rain lightning?

Remember: the air around Jebat is filled with mist, up a 300 foot radius. His allies can see through it, but others with normal senses can see no further than five feet around them. The clouds can douse any mundane fire and allow every ally within it to ignore the first 5 points of fire damage they take each round.

Jebat floats upon sapphire wings and continues to rain lightning down upon groups of monsters or singly hitting one with a lightning bolt.

I think we're waiting to see if the wizard gets coup-de-graced to death.

Gazing upon the battlefield with her crystal-clear eyes, Beatrice frowns. Real fights are much messier and more uncouth than tales told. Can we lead this troubled world to peace?

You did not miss the result, Jebat - I was just asking questions. This fight got... a little bit wonky, I think. XD; In retrospect, I think it needed a big map to do properly, and I'll likely be keeping encounters a little less expansive until I've got some better resources for that.

Screams of pain filled the woods as Jebat sent lightning raining down and Listrana murdered her way through her problems stabbed the robed wizard. His body slumped forward, but even as it did so, you could feel magic rapidly swelling up around him. It wasn't quite clear what it was set to do, but it probably wasn't going to be fun.

"Oh, ****."
Growling unladylikely, Beatrice grabbed the tails of her coat and rushed away from the dead man. Over and over she reached for the power of the Sun or the Night to carry away over light rays or threads of darkness, but a tiredness overcame her body, damping her powers.
Not my sight again, not my sight again...

Listrana flicks Calmonius, and removes the man's head. Taking it with her, she begins moving away, her steps covering the ground at impressive speed despite her appearance of not hurrying.

Her eye blazes, and every one of her soldiers and hunters is aware they need to fall back for a potential issue.

About 100 feet in the air, Jebat surveys the scene like a god looking to aid his followers. His divine mist is only visible to his enemies, so his allies barely notice.

Does Beatrice dampening his powers change anything about the incoming magical explosion or whatever? Seems weird that would be a thing.

It was a one-time dispelling. Nothing ongoing.

It is, however, totally the kind of effect that a Miracle would work on. That's an option if anyone wants to try.

As she walks away, Listrana spends a bit of her divine energy to reach out for something she normally can't do. Whatever is planned to happen, she reaches out with a mental blade, lifting Calmonius, and with a contemptuous swipe, slices the threads of gathering magic, disrupting it.

Listrana will go with a miracle to Dispel whatever is gathering, with a martial bent of slicing the magic to dispel it with Calmonius.

Beatrice Rucellai wrote:

Ah, I assumed it was ongoing since it seemed to prevent his action in round 2.

As Listrana's less-physical blade slashed out (although what could be considered physical, anyway?), magic was severed - and the result was less than dramatic. Of course, that was probably the point. Unable to form as intended, the magic simply began to return to the world. That was the immediate problem dealt with.

There were, however, quite a few beasts still in the woods.

Which, let's be honest, aren't actually going to be a threat to you. XD Feel free to have fun and dispose of them (or not?) as you see fit.

I'm taking it that the GM is giving us free reign to basically pose wiping up the remains, without needing to do rolls/etc, if our powers allow it, such as Listrana's never-ending razor, etc

Listrana suddenly goes into motion, having dealt with the magic that was building. Reaching out to her minions, she finds that one group is in danger from a group of something like a cross between a praying mantis and a raptor. She races toward the group, and as she moves through the group of creatures, Calmonius chimes, and limbs and heads of the demons go flying in sprays of gore, their numbers decimated.

Feeling another group struggling, she turns, leaving the remains to be cleaned up by the now rescued group, and a few seconds later she leaps off a stone into the midst of a group of alligator bear hybrids, Calmonius again chiming eagerly as strange orange blood splatters. Her armor rings as it turns the claws of the beasts and breaks their teeth when they bite. The red sword drenches the ground in orange blood as she again spends a half minute decimating the enemy numbers.

The battles begin to get smaller and smaller, as she races around the battlefield, her sword leaving glittering trails of blood in the air and on the ground, alien body parts strewn over a wide area...

As Listrana and Jebat go finish off the remnants, Beatrice sets her hair and dress back into shape before fighting a quite place to catch her breath. The hallowed sunlight she has manifested has taken a toll on her stamina.

Yeah, whenever I say something like "feel free to do to them as you see fit", that's clearance to have fun with your powers and assume it'll work (as long as, y'know, it's something you can actually do). ^^ What's the point of being a nascent deity if you can't show off every now and then?

One after the other, the otherworldly beasts fell before your might, blood soaking into the ground and doing who-knew-what to the plants growing there. It probably wasn't going to come back and haunt you in a few years as a giant demon forest or something. Right? Right.

Then, as the last one fell, everything stopped - except for you, anyway. Blood stayed in the air, wind halted, and every mortal creature stopped moving. A moment later - if you could say time was progressing, anyway - a rock jutted out of the ground like it had always been there and a strange figure sat down on it. It was humanoid in only the vaguest sense, and it didn't appear to be bothered by the fact that it was slightly on fire.

<Pursuers of Divinity.> Its voice - something remembered, rather than heard, possibly because it didn't seem to have a mouth - sounded more patient than the mountains. <I am Remph, the Angel of Time. Should you care to hear it, I bring a message.>

"I have two ears, and unlike my eyes, both of them work." Listrana says, hefting her sword to her shoulder.

<Bolstering the core of your world has helped to slow its doom, but the threat is not entirely absent. It is not this world's time to end, and I do not like it when things go against their proper schedule - but there are no others who can change this twisted fate. "Indeed, we have committed to help dispose of the Black Acadamies, and people have risked their lives. If we leave now, we will be burning our bridges behind us, and also consigning our new allies to retaliation." She rubs her chin. "If thou dost indeed control time, however, there may be a way to accomplish both. If thou canst move us through time, we could be both here and in Gongfang, destroying the Black Academies and assisting you in your efforts." She smiles. "Alternately, you could skip ahead in time, to see where the Black Academies were, and then report back to us with their locations, so they can all be taken out at once."

Remph was silent for a few moments. <Time has its proper course. To traverse it a little faster or slower is of no great consequence, but to change it can have repercussions beyond understanding. I do not know where the Divine Engine governing time on this world is, and dare not act in a way that might break it. Suffice to say that if you follow the path in Gongfang, the Black Academies will prove little challenge when you return. Tell your allies you are... acquiring something that will help you succeed.>

Beatrice ponders the question for a moment, focusing upon the Time Word she is bound to. "The time is out of joint. O cursèd spite, that ever we were born to set it right!"
"I say we head to Dulimbai. We have been struggling with a lack of direction ever since we came together, I would welcome a clearer path. And to discover the reason we have become what we are now, if any beyond blind chance. This is the first hint we have at delving into the mystery. And the Academies will need time to find out about here, and about us. Possibly, they will turn against one another.

"So, you're not going to describe exactly where Gongfang is, right? So, we're done here." The Storm Captain turns away from the angel and floats in the air to address his crew.

"Crew! Gather our fallen crew, and let's return to the port."

Unless stopped, he will lead the parade, triumph and funeral back to port to celebrate their battle and prepare to sail to Dulimbai.
