Freyr Elvanna
"Which means I can guess what that ghost is lingering around here for," Freyr adds, his voice grim. "I suggest we do the girl a favor and free her while we have the chance."
GM Red Box
The doll sits and, for the moment at least, the ghost is quiet and unseen. The wind blows and snow slowly beings to fill your past footprints.
Kleora
The thought of how these things were made was more than a little creepy in Kloera's opinion. Trapping a spirit inside of the doll? She wasn't even sure how that would work but she was pretty sure she was happier not knowing!
Kleora turned her gaze from the doll to her companions and said, "I guess we can break it and see if that works. If not maybe we should break it some more?"
Freyr Elvanna
"I don't know the workings of it," Freyr admits. "Men rarely learn the ways of magic in our homeland. But I've seen them along the border while on patrol duty. I wouldn't wish the fate of being trapped in one of these on anyone." Freyr grips his sword and steps forward, ready for the doll to react as he approaches it.
Frjya Elvanna
"Not this one..." Frjya said. "This one has a jewel as the focus... remove the jewel and the doll no longer function." She went on to explained. However it did seem as though speaking of this was... unsettling. "If the jewel is broken the child's soul is released. That said, if kept it would be easier to resurrect the child."
GM Red Box
Wind blows and no one takes any sort of action other then discussion.
Kleora
Deciding she was done waiting on the others to act Kleora began to make her way boldly up to the doll. When she reached it she reached out to grab it and try to pull the jewel free from it. While destroying it would be the best option she wasn't so harsh as to consign the child's soul within to whatever might be awaiting them without a chance to live the rest of their life out.
Not sure what I need to do to get the jewel out or if I even get that far before something bad happens.

As Kleora moves forward her sharp eyes notice that it quickly casts a spell and rises though a hole in the roof of the hut for twenty feet making it about 25 feet above the ground.
This casting of the spell takes place only as you reach for the doll.
It is hard to make out a look from an animated doll but you think there is unbridled rage behind its eyes.
As it flies a high pitched laugh comes from it unmoving, porcelain, mouth.
Ruling that with the height of the hut and the surprise of the action no AOO fro Kleora.
The snows is still deep enough to cause movement issues.

Freyr curses softly as Kleora steps ahead of him and the doll finally reacts, flying into the air and out of reach. He drops his blade to the ground and draws his bow, taking aim and trying to get an arrow in the flying doll. Unfortunately, the unexpected movement and quick draw through his aim off and the arrow merely sticks in the wooden ceiling of the hut.

Woops, holiday week got away from me it seems.
Frjya launches a ball of ice and snow that manages to come nowhere near the intended target, it does snap a limb off a tree so clearly it would have done substantial damage to the doll.
"Your sorry! Your sorry! I have a purpose, guard the way, what would you have given done.... nothing!"
The ghost appears again and simply whispers two words. "Be quiet."
The doll, still in the air, casts another spell at the party.

Frostfall
The area of this spell is covered in chilling frost, dealing 2d6 points of cold damage to all creatures within it. Creatures that the spell initially damages must succeed at a Fortitude save or become staggered for 1 round. The area remains chilled for the spell’s duration. Any creature that starts your turn within the spell’s area takes 1d6 points of cold damage (Fortitude saving throw for half) but does not become staggered even on a failed saving throw.

Kleor reaches out again with her mind and the porcelain dolls head cracks and splinters as the gem goes dim and in crashes into the hit below. The ghost, well haunt to be more precise, will not appear again in the ice.
A serach of the area reveals the only item of value is the gem, now just an inert sapphire worth 600gp.

Frjya remains silent as she took the stone from her brother, taking it and handling it with such care almost as if she was scared her simply touching it would shatter it. Once it was in hand hand however she looked it over, using her own magic to try and detect any magic within the gem.

The snow still makes movement more laborious then would be ideal but you trudge on. You travel for some time until Tayanalla notices the sound of movement in the fir trees to the south. Nothing can be seen but something large and maybe white was clearly there.

Kleora, you notice that the large white shape is tracking you though the trees as well, quietly keeping pace with the party.
Not in combat but there is a map to see what you are dealing with. Weasel is to the north in the trees. Only a good roll by Kleora saw it.
Kleora
Kleora felt sorry for the child's soul but it was over with now. As they prepared to move on she tooke her normal spot in the group and proceeded to trudge through the deep snow. As they went she happened to notice something...strange out of the corner of her eye and realized they were being followed. Very quietly she said, "Something white pacing us to the north." She carefully observed it from the corner of her eye, "I think it's that giant weasel we heard about."
This is probably the last I'll be able to post until I get back on Sunday.
Freyr Elvanna
"Agreed," Freyr says as he notices more animal tracks in the snow. At least the unnatural snowfall made tracking much easier. "It's only an animal, unless the fey have recruited more beasts with their powers. I suggest we don't bother it unless it attacks. It's in unfamiliar land and likely frightened. No point in picking a fight."
