Kleora |

Kleora rose from her concealment and said, "Other than your boss you are the last one left in any shape to fight. You don't have to be a part of this fight, simply stay out of it and we will have no quarrel with you." Kleora gestured towards the kitchen, "What were you cooking in there anyway?"
diplomacy: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (15) + 6 = 21
Not a standard use for Diplo but I figure it's worth a try.

Maja Tasker |

Apologies for the lack of posting. Holidays got me out of the habit of being at my PC daily. :)
Maja slips under the table and stabs at the cleric's legs with her short sword.

Kleora, revealing herself to Three-Penny starts speaking. The rogue/chef startles and curses at having been caught unaware still she composes herself well and draws a dagger.
"My part in this? No... No I don't. I will just be leaving I think, thank you for the professional courtesy." she starts to back away "The woman is in the basement, I had not part in that. Stew in the kitchen is about done too." She delivers both of these with the same level of importance as she continues to back towards the door, picking up a fur cloak while she moves.
Excellent use of diplomacy I think. Always worth rolling those things, I am a GM who likes to make that stuff work.
Meanwhile back upstairs....
Freyr struggles against the spell, unable to move. Tayanalla stumbles for a moment but shakes off the spell and stabs the priest who howles in pain. Maja moves in and tries to help out but the priest deflects her sword on a leather gauntlet.

Seeing Freyr in such a bad condition being unable to move, Neji lays a hand on him, saying a short incantation as a bit of strength runs through him to hopefully help him break out of his binds.

Kleora |

Kleora nodded in response to the woman and said, "You're welcome, you don't have to leave though, as long as you stay out of the fighting the others won't mind. Besides you don't want to go out in the cold until you have to and certainly not without proper provisions." She looked towards where the basement was and asked, "What do you mean by 'No a part in that'? Did they do something to harm her?"

Kleora |

Kleora, the mercenary having left, went up the stairs in time to hear the necromancer's words. She had her crossbow out and looked at the man flatly and said, 'Why wouldn't we?"
Sadly I can't actually shoot him as it's a dbl move to get up there. Kleora's demeanor gives no doubt to anyone that she will kill him unarmed or no. He's simply too big of a threat to let live.

Frjya Elvanna |

"Normally, I would say no." Frjya said as she looked the man dead in the eyes and continued "but you... you're a vial evil person. I can tell. I grew up in a family almost completely saturated with people like you. I will not carry your death as a weight upon my shoulders."
"But, physical combat is not a strength of mine. So I shall do my best to ensure you are hindered for my allies." Frjya declared before she brought her arm up and snapped her fingers again, trying to daze him.
Daze! DC14

Freyr Elvanna |

The gnome's magic finally helps Freyr break free from the bandit chief's magic and he rolls his neck, shaking off the thoroughly unwelcome feeling of being frozen in place. "My thanks sister," he says. "And my thanks Neji." While he's still slow to trust, the oracle has certainly been making a good case for her own good intentions. "Frankly, he's probably destined for execution anyway and I don't particularly care about his life. Perhaps he could answer a few questions if we let him keep breathing for a while though."
Will Save (Guide): 1d20 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (19) + 1 + 1 = 21

GM Red Box |

You get the impression that he is looking for a chance to try another trick. He does not seem fully honest in saying he will answer questions.
"Sure... questions. How about you all come in here and I will talk."

GM Red Box |

Tayanalla, you got it with your last roll.

Freyr Elvanna |

"Sure you will," Freyr says dryly, the distrust incredibly obvious in his voice. "Or we can just kill him if he's not going to cooperate."
Sense Motive: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (9) + 5 = 14

GM Red Box |

Frustration crosses the bandit leaders face as he sees you will not all be coming in the room as he requested. The look leaves his face quickly as he speaks again.
"Well come in, all of you, and ask your questions."
He shifts back and forth on his feet.

Kleora |

Kleora, as it seemed the others were going to question the guy, decided they didn't need her there at the moment. "Just make sure to deal with him once you're done questioning him, I'll be downstairs having some stew." With that Kleora slipped out the door and headed back down.
While she at first meant to get some of the stew she decided that going down to check on the woman they were there to rescue was probably a better idea for now. She wanted to make sure the person they were here for was alright and see if she needed to track down a key or something to get her out.

GM Red Box |

Seeing no one is coming closer Rohkar grabs his holy symbol as it starts to glow with a sickly light.
Tayanall and Maja may take an AOO to stop the following.
The light grows from the symbol as he tries to channel negative energy.
Negative Energy if AOO's don't kill him: 2d6 ⇒ (3, 4) = 7 DC13 Will for half
I fully understand that channeling does not provoke an AOO but in this situation I feel it would. It is not really combat and neither side was in a fully aggressive stance so those that are close can act.

Cloask of the Yeti: This heavy cloak is crafted from shaggy white yeti fur. When the cloak’s hood is pulled up over the wearer’s head, it takes on a semblance of its arctic namesake’s fearsome visage. Northern warriors value its ability to ward against the chill of winter, as well as the protection it provides in combat. The cloak of the yeti provides a constant endure elements effect in cold weather (it has no effect in hot weather). In battle, the cloak wraps around the wearer, granting a +1 natural armor bonus. In addition, with the hood drawn over the wearer’s head, the cloak grants a +2 competence bonus on Intimidate skill checks.

Kleora |

Correct, they don't go through walls or around corners as they are a burst.
Is the storeroom where I am or the other room where the necro was?

Tayanalla |

"I wouldn't say I hated all clerics. There are certainly some bright and cheery ones that I've met, but I didn't care for that one." Taya responds to Freyr.
"Don't go letting that sprite out before we have some answers!" She exclaims when the group uncovers the the trapped fey.

GM Red Box |

The storeroom is H16, though it is hard to read.

Kleora |

So not the place where I was headed to.
What do I find once I get downstairs?

Freyr Elvanna |

"Wasn't planning on it," Freyr says as he pauses for a moment to wipe the bandit chief's blood from his blade before sliding it back into it's sheath. "Sister, perhaps you should try to speak with the sprite. It may respond best to you."

GM Red Box |

Kleora continues heading down to the basement while the others are upstairs.
H17. Cellar
A half-dozen boxes and barrels take up the majority of this underground cellar. A rough blanket lies spread on the floor in the southeast corner next to a bowl of half-eaten food.
A battered and injured Taldan noble stands in the room meeting your gaze. Her chin is up despite her injuries and she asses you for a moment before speaking.
"You are not one of them?" When it is clear you are not she nods and her shoulders slump some, as though relaxing for the first time in a while "Good. I am Lady Argentea. You can get me out of here, I need to speak to some officials about what is going on? My guards are dead and I was robbed but I can come up with a reward, I am sure, if you get me back to town."
[ooc] Any examination will show she is wounded and exausted. 5 or 20hp.

Back upstairs the the winter rouched sprite answers Frjya.
"Why am I here? Well I am stuck in a cage clearly or I would not be here. Why am I in the cage, that...." he points his small hand at the dead cleric "That shoved me in here. I don't, er, didn't even know him. I was minding my own business."

"Clearly you weren't minding your own business. Maybe if you tell us how you and your winter-touched fey brethren ended up here in Taldor we will think about letting you out of your prison." Taya responds to the sprite.

GM Red Box |

He responds in a mocking town to Tayanalla.
"'Clearly you weren't minding your own business' Well how else's business would I mind?." His town is back to normal. How did we get here? How do you think? Its called magic. Now let me out. The guy you killed locked me in a cage that should be good enough shouldn't it. I want to get out of here."

Frjya Elvanna |

Frjya looked to her brother for a moment when Tayanalla asked her question to the fey. "Should we answer that?" She silently asked.
"No, it is not good enough." Frjya declared. "Tell me why that man put you in this cage!" She demanded. "Tell me and," Frjya said as she tapped her chin a few time before saying "I'll let you out. But it must be the truth, or no one will let you out."

Kleora |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |

When she found the woman they were looking for, battered and bruised but alive, Kleora nodded and said, "Yes, you must be the one we were sent to save. One of your guards made it back to town alive and we were sent to rescue you Lady Argenta."
Kleora gestured towards the stairs and said, "It's safe to go up, the bandits are either sick, dead, or fled. The necromancer should be dead by now as well and if they were weak and let him live I'll end him myself. My goddess doesn't abide weakness like that, he has become prey and must die like it lest he once again become a predator."
Letting Lady Argenta go up first Kleora followed and watched the woman walk, she found the Lady somewhat attractive truthfully, and enjoyed the view. When they reached the top she said, "There is stew in the kitchen that should be ready to eat."

GM Red Box |

Image of Lady Argentea added to maps.
Basement
Lady Argentea smiles genuinely now that she knows she is being rescued. The smile only lasts a moment for readopting the look of superiority she generally has.
"Sick or dead that is good. What of the little ones, the icy fey as well? Filthy little things killed my maids and good help is hard to find. How about this Ted Knotten fellow? It sounded like he was their boss."
She pausing looking at you expectantly for a moment before simply heading up to the first floor.
"A bowl of stew and bread." she nods assuming you will get it for her.

The little fey meets Frjya's gaze.
"Truth, truth. I said magic, a portal. I think you know thats magic. The cage? He put me here because he is a treacherous a+~#@+%."

Kleora |

Kleora spotted the woman's change of expression from grateful to haughty and knew this was going to be trouble. She decided that, for now at least, she wouldn't push the issue and instead considered the questions. "Most of the Icy Fey have been killed, we managed to convince one to cease hostilities to get his beloved stag away from us alive. And there was something outside of here that we dealt with as well. Beyond that I don't know of any more of the Little Folk here."
After a moment’s thought Kleora asked, "Is this Ted Knotten the necromancer? If not then I haven't heard of him. The others might have something when they come back down here." She looked at the noblewoman and said, "I guess we should all eat and rest before heading back to town in the morning. It was a rough trip up here and it won't likely be any better going back."

GM Red Box |

Upstairs
"Sure Mag, sure. My name is Vrixx Mag. What did I do for that dead guy?
What did I do for that dead guy? Less then you did." the winter touched fey bursts into laughter at that. "Some of us came though a portal and ended up here. Then cage. Make sense? Now that that mystery is cleared up how about you let me out."
As it talks it is clearly getting more and more restless with being in the cage. A note of desperation is creeping into its voice as well.
I normally don't give this sort of tip but maybe some diplomacy or intimidation rolls?
Downstairs
"Necromancer? I am sure I would not know I only heard the man who runs this place say the name Ted Knotten. He did not sound to be in a rush to see this person, his boss I guess." she looks around a bit "Food is good but it sounds like there are still people in these rooms. The sick? Well.... maybe they will be good enough to die before the law can deal with them."

Maja Tasker |

Maja smiles. "Okay, Vrixx. My experience with your kind hasn't been pleasant, so maybe you could do something to help me trust you. You said you came through a portal. Come from where? Did you come on accident? Could you take us to that portal?" She asks the questions quickly, to keep the fey from interrupting.
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (10) + 7 = 17

The little fey pulls its head back, making a face like it smells something bad before throwing up its hands in frustration
"Take you there? Take you there so the rest of my kind can torture you? Freeze bits till they fall off! That what you want?" he looks at each of you "Ever seen human skin turn black before a toe falls off? You will if you don't LET ME GO!"
Clearly he has seen that this is going go get him nowhre.
"The portal is at the center of the ice, easy enough. Get yourselves there of let me out and go to your warm home."
