Kleora |

Kleora looked sadly at the stag where it lay. The creature wasn't dead yet but it was close and she knew there was little time to save him. She was worried that the atomie was invisible and what he might do now that the stag was dead so she shifted away from her companions a little and called out, "Warrior, there is still time to save the stag if you cease this assault on us." She arched an eyebrow and continued, "Or does the creature not deserve such loyalty from you?" She may be speaking to it but she was ready as well, if the atomie appeared and attacked she would try to blast it's mind again. "It likely only has seconds to live so decide fast."
readied mind thrust if the atomie attacks us and I can target him: 1d6 ⇒ 5

GM Red Box |

There is a moment of a pause and the air is slightly disturbed as the little atomie flies about.
"You can heal him? Do it and we leave."

Kleora |

Kleora looked imploringly to her companions and asked, "Does somone have a potion or the magic to heal this noble stag?" She moved to the creature and knealt down, dow stroke it's head gently, "There is no need to let it die, especially since it will end this fighting to heal it." Why Kleora cared about the the stag's survival may be unclear to those who understood the Green Mother's followers but it was really simple. Had this been a part of the natural order, of the cycle of life, the stag would never have attacked them like it had. The atomie seemed to have caused the attack and broken the natural order so it was only right the stag got a second chance.
When Frjya used her powers to heal the stag and said, "Thank you Frjya." She looked up to where the atmoie's voice seemed to come from, "Your companion will live now Warrior. He won't awaken yet and will be weak for some time but he will live." She gave the fur one more stroke and then rose, "In the name of the Green Mother it is your duty to tend to this noble stag until he recovers in recompense for making it attack us against the natural cycle." She smiled slightly then and said, "If you feel you need our assistance then you will be indebted to us and must travel with us once he is restored."

Freyr Elvanna |

Freyr raises one eyebrow. Part of him doubts that the fey is going to be willing to serve them, even if he thought he needed help. A larger part of him doesn't trust that the atomie would be loyal even if it did agree to help them. "I'm not entirely sure that it would be wise to expect him to help us, especially if we end up confronting his master. Let him go on his way and care for his friend."

GM Red Box |

Really had to think about this one.
Freyr: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8

Frjya: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (1) + 0 = 1
Maja: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8
The stag struggles to its feet looking about and simply begins to walk away into the woods. If unmolested it will lope off after it is a few yards away from the group.
There is no response from the atomie. You do not even know if he is still there.
What are you doing now?

The stag lopes off and all is quiet. Snow continues to fall and the path is still there leading away from you, further into the woods. There is no response and no evidence that you can see of anyone else being around.
What are you doing now.

Maja Tasker |

Maja removes the bolt from her loaded crossbow and pulls the trigger, dry-firing the weapon. She knew it wasn't good for the string, but it was better than wasting a bolt.
"I agree," she adds. "Let's be off before that pest changes its mind."

GM Red Box |

I will move you on in the morning. If there is anything else you want to do you have tonight.

Freyr Elvanna |

"I've been better, but I am still alive," Freyr projects, glancing toward his sister. He seems hesitant to show any weakness in front of the others. "Though I could perhaps use a bandage."

GM Red Box |

Any other input on what the group will do?

GM Red Box |

With a bit of healing done our party continues down the frozen path, deeper into the woods. Just roll before next action.
F1. Trail Sign
The sustained winter weather has causes a small stream, the Wishbone Creek, to freeze over. A human-sized snowman stands in the middle of the trail {f1} before a frozen stream. A crude wooden sign leans against it and bears the words “Trespassers Turn Back.”
As the group takes a step further the snowman seems to come to life and begins to speak in a windy high-pitched voice. “Can’t you read? The sign says turn back! Now get lost!”

Frjya: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (5) + 0 = 5
Maja: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (9) + 3 = 12
Wow that is some bad perception rolls! Really bad.
A solid sheet of ice {f2} extends across this frozen stream, while snow-covered rocks line its banks.
Beyond the river you see what looks like legs and feet sticking out of a snowbank. {f3}
Map up. What do you do?

Freyr Elvanna |

Freyr's eyes narrow for just a moment as Tayanalla hands him the vial. He examines it for a moment, then nods. "Thank you." He sheathes his sword and pulls the stopper out and drinks it down. Feeling a few more of the wounds closing, he moves back to the front of the group and keeps an eye on the trail as they're moving. The sign hardly draws a glance from him, but he stops short when the snowman begins to speak. "A construct? Or another hidden fey?"
CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3

GM Red Box |

It takes a moment but Tayanalla's detect magic zeros in a but more on what is going on. The snowman radiates a minor illusion and evocation auras. If anything this would smell like a trap, not the presence of a fey controlling the snowman.
The speaking is a magic mouth spell, there is also another spell that will go off when someone gets close.
With more time the feet sticking out appear to be a bit smaller than a human. Halfling? Gnome? Something like that. Had to give you something despite the terrible perceptions I rolled for you all.

GM Red Box |

Freyr can tell that the ice, where the path is, is mostly substantial. Not far to the north and south it has not frozen as thick for some reason. Maybe time will freeze it or maybe it will not.
As Maja speaks one of the feet moves, just a little.
What are you doing now?

Freyr Elvanna |

"It's frozen over enough here," Freyr says. "But oddly mostly here. Perhaps this was intentionally frozen to allow a crossing. Or perhaps the water here is more shallow and froze faster."

GM Red Box |

Any actions? At this point anyone can read the previous spellcraft spoiler.
The feet in the snow twitch again feebly. The snowman says no more and sits there an unmoving object. Snow falls, the water freezes the smallest fraction more. Your feet are cold.

Freyr Elvanna |

"Then let's give it a wide berth. Still, we're not going to get anywhere standing here waiting for it to do something else." Freyr walks carefully toward the river, going in a wide arc around the snowman to try to stay far enough away to avoid whatever else might be attached to it. "Step carefully sister. And let me go first."

GM Red Box |

Map is updated, I moved you all around the snowman. See movement spoiler please.
Looping around the snowman to the norht you stay at least ten feet away from it at all times.

Maja: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
Things: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (1) - 1 = 0
As you move around, most of you keep an eye on the snoman but Freyr and Kelora catch movement out of the corner of the eye and see that two small piles of ice rise up, forming into very rough humanoid shapes, in the middle of the river. Clearly they were waiting in wait for whoever made it past the snowman.
The legs now kick more on the far side and it seems whoever is in there is pushing themselves out of the snowbank. Mechanically that person can act in round 2.
Hazard: The frozen creek acts as an ice sheet; entering a square covered in ice costs 2 squares of movement, and the DC of Acrobatics checks increases by 5 in such squares. A successful DC 10 Acrobatics check is required to run or charge across the creek.

She moves down the bank to the edge of the frozen path (+10' movement spelldance, hampered movement from snow) and draws her rapier.

Kleora |

With the sudden appearance of the elementals Kleora thought briefly on what they were as she pulled together the power to blast one's mind. She unleashed torrents of mental pain into the one that Freyr was attacking.

With one elemental down the remaining chucks a piece of ice at the approaching Maja. It does not have good aim and the ice goes wide as it moves a little over the surface of the ice.
On the far side of the river a very forzen looking gnome pulls herself out of the ice and snow and turns to look at the battle on the ice.

"A-A-A-A-Ahhh, c-c-c-coooold!" the gnome screams as she pulls herself out of the snow drift. "J-Jeez, I-I-I didn't think it was g-gonna be this bad!" Hearing the sounds of fighting, she turns to look in the direction of the battle, seeing 5 people battle against the small elemental.
"W-W-Woah! People! I-I haven't seen those in...f-forever! H-Hang on! I-I-I can help!"
She reaches behind her back and pulls out her light crossbow. Wiping some snow that was left on it, she aims and fires a shot at the elemental!

Freyr Elvanna |

Freyr clicks his tongue as the magical trap goes off and knocks Taya to the ground. "Well, I suppose that could have been far worse," he projects in Fryja direction. "Whoever cast it must not have been that creative." He tries not to think about what he's seen his relatives do. Then he just stops and stares as the shivering gnome emerges from the snow drift across the river. "A gnome?" It takes him a moment to realize that he had spoken aloud. He was slightly amazed that the small woman was still alive after being buried in this frigid weather. He shakes his head, chiding himself for losing focus in the middle of a fight. With more of their number injured, he can't afford to back down now. He pushes forward, moving with a bit more speed and assurance as he closes in and strikes at the second elemental with a sweeping swing of his blade.
