Maybe a love interest for Phoebee, lol

Silly Disguise |

Because, well, because dwarves can get a tad bit hairy she says with a big grin.
"I've got a bald wig and some shoes that fit on your knees."

Beginning prep for City of Golden Death.
If it works for you all, and I get my prep work done this weekend...looking to start Monday.
Just a heads up: I will be on the side of a mountain climbing without cell signal July 6th through July 16th. I need a break from work with all the stuff going on as of late.
During that time period I likely won't be online at all. I will remind you when we get closer.
I've had a couple people ask if we'll be done by start of session 2 of gameday. I'll try, but can't guarantee it. So if you sign up with this character, you may wish to have a backup plan just in case.

![]() |

That's awesome, GM...what mountain? I've never done mountain climbing but we really enjoy hiking and camping, especially in the Grand Canyon...
ETA: Oh, and a Monday start works fine for me...

![]() |

I won't be scheduling this character for game day.

![]() |

I've scheduled Flyn for a second session Gameday game but I've got a backup for him if we're not through...

![]() |

She is not going any where :)
I got an email on Tuesday indicating that I had to move classrooms for the coming year. I spent yesterday doing it. :(

You work in the White House too? ;)

With the work stress of late, I've not been involved in the planning at all. By the time I get home...and finish doing more work things at home...I've been exhausted.
Therefore, the wife has done the planning without me and refuses to give me any hints. lol
I can tell you the last climb we did in January was Mount Shavanno in Colorado (USA).
You work in the White House too? ;)
Nope! lol.
I run a 911 dispatch center. Been a 911 dispatcher for going on 15 years now...or something like that...

New Map/Handout Slide: Please fill in your perception, initiative, standard marching order, and icon images
Also, fill out (Link) this form to make it easier for me to do your chronicles at the end.
Be forewarned, from the reviews I've read, this module can be brutal.

![]() |

Wow, GM...no wonder you're under so much stress. An old friend of mine worked as a 911 dispatcher at one time and he told me some stories...I have lots of respect for you guys (and gals)...I don't think I could do so well at that job but I'm thankful there are those that can...

Syllyn's day job roll

I've heard the same...that's why I thought it prudent to bring a 6th level character since Dylph wasn't in tier...I was also glad to see Jason bringing a 5th level PC...don't know specifics but, from its reputation, it will be tough as is...but a couple of higher level PCs can't hurt...
Do we know who Purnell is bringing yet?

GM RePete |

I don't believe Purnell has shared that information yet.
I believe we have the following currently...
Melee/Buff Skald
Ranged Zen Archer (I see a theme with your characters Otha. ;-P)
Amazing Cleric Evangelist
Singing Bard (Phoebee)
And whatever Purnell is bringing. If you need a pregen, I can link the Pre-Coded ones again.
Not to call you out Lauranna, but I don't suppose you've considered making a slide show of how to be as amazing as you are with the slides? I've begun playing around more with them, but certainly not to your skill level yet.

1d20 + 21 ⇒ (5) + 21 = 26 Perform strings

![]() |

Phoebee is pretty good at getting into a fight when she needs to do so. I am still trying to figure out what 2nd level spell to take, I think I have glitterdust down but not sure I want that one. Any recommendations?

![]() |

Heroism is a no-brainer for a bard.

![]() |

Whendel Walkner is a friend of Purnel's. He is happy to step in for Purnel as Purnel is now looking for a architectural job to do.
"Whendel Walkner at your service. I am happy to help. Purnel said you all took out some kind of religious con artist ring." "I am just back from helping investage a temple high in the Tian mountain" "Anyway I work a little magic with an affinity for fire. It often comes in handy."
Whendel, a shortish halfling with bright red hair, is colorfully dressed in a yellow tunic, brown and red trousers. He wears a stetson style hat with symmetric, rear slanted eagle feathers.

Silly Disguise |

"Here! Put this beard on, and slip these shoes on over your knees! Is it okay if we call you Harsk?"

Not to call you out Lauranna, but I don't suppose you've considered making a slide show of how to be as amazing as you are with the slides? I've begun playing around more with them, but certainly not to your skill level yet.
It involves working at Kinko's (when there was a Kinko's that is) as a second shift production manager. Just play with all the buttons until they make sense, and then imagine what players might do, or have questions about (those players, they're always doing crazy things). Was there something specific you where thinking of?
I try to make games as evocative as possible, and to me that means trying to hit all the senses as often as possible. So that means: pictures, animation, sound effects, links to videos, etc.... Mostly I do this because I hate work. When I GM I expect the other 6 people at the table to do things (walk around, open doors, talk to each other, and so on). So the better I lay out the 'table' the less I should (theoretically) have to do.
So the group has a sorcerer, a bard, an angry bard, a pretty, charming funny, talented, religious, and most especially--modest bardic cleric, and a guy who wants to be one with the galaxy (but from far, far away).... The all-Harsk party is looking better (metaphorically, I mean it still has a median Charisma of 6) all the time. ;)

![]() |

While the mutual affection society party concept is interesting I think, in the interest of party balance, I might replace the talented, plucky, (and modest!) cleric with the daring swordsman from Katapesh! Unless we think an actual (or nearly actual) cleric would be more useful.
I'm a fan of covering all the standard bases and having three bard-like characters, and no solid melee, nor rogue-skilled characters seems a bit dangerous. Abaal's a pretty straightforward fighter whose basic character sheet could be summed up with the words 'adamantine falchion'. Unlike Lauranna he is actually pretty smart too, though that isn't as important with two bards in the party. Likewise, in a pinch, the bards can also cover for the lack of a cleric's healing and support magic.

Ranger Zen Archer (I see a theme with your characters Otha. ;-P)
Guilty as charged. ;)
I have a passion (some say obsession) for ranged characters when it comes to RPG, in particular ones with a longbow, usually Elves...occasionally I'll go half-Elf, half-Orc, or Human...
Dates back to when I first read The Lord of the Rings at 13 years old...I got addicted to fantasy reading, and soon followed it with The Sword of Shannara...my favorite characters from those stories were the Elves (Legolas from LotR, Durin & Dayel from SoS) and a human who was great with a bow (Menion Leah from SoS). Soon after saw a late night B-movie on TBS called Hawk the Slayer; it wasn't a great movie by any stretch but it had an Elven archer named Fro that was...guess what? Yep, great with a bow. And then when Arnold's movie Conan came out, my favorite dude was his sidekick who used a bow...
And then, years after my tabletop RPG days ended, computer games such as Daggerfall, Baldur's Gate, Neverwinter Nights , Oblivion, and Skyrim and came out; my primary PC was always an Elven Ranger/Scout. And when Peter Jackson's Lord of the Rings trilogy was released, I watched it numerous times. All of this rekindled my love for old school fantasy again...
And then early last year, over on Boardgamegeek, they had a newbie RPG PbP event and I joined a PFS Master of the Fallen Fortress session and I had a chance to create my first PFS character (Flyn, the one I'll be playing in this session) and of course it was an Elven Ranger based on my old book heroes...and then I found this place...
Sorry, that was a bit long-winded...the TLDR version is: Yes, I really like Elven archers!

I'd say play whatever you prefer. Abaal Zadeir looks like an impressive fighter and, from what I've heard of this module's reputation, this is a fight heavy module; he'd be a definite asset in combat. While we would lose Lauranna's healing ability, Phoebee and I can use wands of CLW (I currently have one with 31 charges left) and I think Syllyn can as well...
While Flyn is not a rogue, he is proficient with several Rogue-like skills (+18 Stealth, +17 Perception, +14 Disable Device, +8 Escape Artist)...if we need to track anything, I'm also +13 Survival (searching for tracks/tracking only)...

![]() |

"Are you thinking you need a little more brawn and not so much sparkle?" "I have a much more brawny friend who is free also. But he is a little stilted. He has funny views on how things have to be done."
"Orst Tilboar is a pathfinder who will eventually end up in the crusades, but in the mean time he has latched on to the society as a way to mature and expand his horizons."

![]() |

No Day job for Flyn...will probably be doing some Faction Card stuff though...
GM, do you want us to list any special abilities/gear?

![]() |

Heroism is a no-brainer for a bard.
I was thinking that as well.

![]() |

I will change out Glitterdust to Heroism.

![]() |

All changed out and ready to go.

GM RePete |

Been a rough couple days. I'm wore out.
Rather than 'phone in' your post, I'm going to get some rest and post tomorrow.

![]() |

:)

![]() |

Are there magical bard instruments?

![]() |

GM, can you deactivate Loquinar from the campaign please and thank you.

GM RePete |

Sorry for the delay this week. It's been a hell of a few days at work.
Post incoming this morning

![]() |

After that intro, Syllyn would like to get a scroll with 5 lesser restorations on it for 2 PP.

![]() |

RePete, are you there? Last post was 4 days ago. Still dealing with major distractions?

RePete, are you there? Last post was 4 days ago. Still dealing with major distractions?
While I was thinking he might post before he left, he did say a while back that he'd be on vacation (mountain climbing) from 06 to 16 July and that he didn't expect to have connectivity while he was gone...hoping this will help him re-charge while he's away from work and we can hit it running when he gets back...

![]() |

OK, that's reassuring.

![]() |

RePetey is pretty good about communication.

![]() |

Our GM is climbing until 16 July....
Wow, how high do you think he'll be then?
If you are asking yourself why Lauranna and not Abaal--it seemed more of a Lauranna thing to say.

![]() |

My friend is coming in from Pittsburgh on Sunday and will be here for a week. I will try to post when/if I can.

![]() |

Do you want to hear more Phoebee songs as we pass the time? :)

![]() |

Just a reminder that I may or may not be around this week. Bot if necessary

GM RePete |

I have returned to the land of the internet. I am refreshed and hopefully rejuvenated...we shall see.
I have over 260 work e-mails to sort through today from my absence...but will be working on catching up on my games throughout the day today as well.
Sorry for my lack of reminder prior to the trip. I had intended to do so, but ran out of time prior to leaving. Once I was there...the minuscule internet access I managed to obtain wouldn't let me post on the site.

![]() |

Glad your trip went well and happy to have you back, GM! Ready to continue on when you are...

GM RePete |

Put an arrow on the boat to show where you'd come up. I'll give the few we're waiting on a few more hours to post.
