" Tell him you have some recruits who come willingly both are healers seeking to purify these lands and unite them under the Stag lord' she says as she readies her crossbow just in case.

Kaeso continues, drawing close to the guard, in case he needs to kill him quickly: "You piece of fly-eaten goblin dung, you can't even do your duty, and you presume to berate me? Now, get out of my way. I've got new recruits. Healers, too. Judging by the way you guard a gate, you'll be needing them."

"My job is to stand at this gate, so I don't know what you are talking about. AKIROS, wake Dovan up!!! We got some scum here acting up. He say he' got some meat for the gang! Dovan is 'in charge of recruitment'. "

At this point, Mornaura can see the bandits upstairs are shuffling around and are getting awake from all the screaming. One shouts "HEY Pipe down Jeb! We try'n to get some shuteye hare!!"

A few seconds later, the man with the tattoos and the rapier comes out from the structure. "My my, what is going on around here. Hey you, blondie..." motioning to Kaeso "I am in charge of recruitment for the Stag man, and I have never met you before. So, you better come clean." he draws out his rapier. "Who are you and how did you get in here? JEB, check out these... friends of his"

Jeb, with a grin, starts heading back towards where Ionnia and Norn are.

Dris, inside with Svetlana, hears some of the commotion. From the west she also suddenly hears a muffled "HOOOROOOOWRRRR", after which she sees the guard posted outside the storage pantry get nervous for a few seconds, then calm down back again right after.

"Be ready to catch him," the witch whispers down to Ionnia and Norn.

She waits until Jeb has come out under the tower, then leans over the parapet just far enough to get a good look at him. She prepares to use her slumber hex on Jeb after he has reached and addressed her companions, when it's their turn to answer him, so that the other bandits don't wonder why he's silent.

@dris Bingo whispers back that he can come in and help with the manacles once he can get into the structure. She has two pairs of manacles, one around her wrists, and one around ankles.

Dris already levitated Bingo down with her, inside the walls. And vanished him. And told him to back her up... so I was kinda hoping he was stealthing and following even when the vanish ran out.

Dris whispers to Svetlana Don't worry, I'll make sure you make it out of here safely. Right now I'm going to see what that ruckus is.

She's prepping to put the guard to sleep. But first Dris will do a little recon to see if the guard's alone, if Bingo or Purrcy are nearby, if there's anyone else that will notice her jailbreak, etc.

Bingo sneaks into the the cell with Dris just in time before the Vanish breaks. He begins working on the manacles.

In just a bit over 12 seconds, Bingo has Svetlana out of the manacles around her legs.

Dris whispes to Purrcy on the message to stealth up to her. Purrcy starts moving around the corner, when Dovan turns around staring at a huge cat prowling (Purrcy has nothing to hide behind here).

"What the... PEOPLE this is a trap! I need everyone up and armed NOW!!!" screams out Dovan.

From inside the building, a large "HOOOROOOOWRRRR" is now heard by everyone. Something bangs loudly on the gate next to Falgrim Sneeg inside.

Akiros looks around outside, and realizes what he had feared was true. The elf and these newcomers are in league, and here to attack the fort! He draws out his longsword on the way to position himself behind Dovan, begins raging, and readies an action.

Congratulations, it's a party now.

Growling disapprovingly, Mornaura spins around, leans out of the tower entrance and casts Web on the second floor. She tries to include all three bandits in the target area, anchoring the Web on the walls of the ruin and the rugged edges of the broken floor.

After that, she pulls the torch out of the holder and checks on Kaeso.

DC 17 - do they even get to make one, prone and sleeping? ^^


They do, but at 0 effective DEX! They can roll 20s :P

SPLAT. A giant web spreads on the second floor, using the two remaining walls as anchors. The big lumbering guy and one of the sleeping guards are grappled it in, but somehow by a miracle, one of the bandits did not!. Probably a bad angle or something.

That bandit gets up, and picks up his bow.
Auchs, the big guy is awake, but covered in web! He tries to get out!.

Kaeso can't believe he was caught flatfooted. I knew he was going to try to stick me with that thing--how did he surprise me? Idiot!

"Dovan, your tattoos look ridiculous." He swings his hammer in a mighty blow, attempting to separate head from neck.

Flanking attack: 1d20 + 8 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 8 + 2 = 30
Damage: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10

Then, he bleeds a bit. Ouch!


Kaeso, seemingly angry at Dovan's sneak attack, shows him how it's done. With mighty blow to the head, Dovan slumps down to the ground, his rapier clanking down on the ground next to his body. A spatter of blood covers Kaeso's hammer.

Purrcy continues on his last orders, sniffing out Dris and Bingo's location. He finally can smell Dris close, and positions to attack the bandit bingo is attacking.

The door to the cellar is just an open doorway with a guard, right? So, except for the guard she can just walk out?

Dris will edge around the corner until she can see the guard and fire the wand of magic missiles.

@Dris, yep, there is no "door" just a doorway where a door once was.

Dris moves around and shoots the guard with some magic missiles! Purrcy looks happy to see her mistress.

Jeb sleeps the sleep of the just.

Falgrim Sneeg, seeing Dovan's fall panicks, and throws down the lever next to him. The wooden gate rises up ominously, and another, now very loud, "HOOOROOOOWRRRR" is heard. Whatever is in there, it is now free.

Falgrim then steps aside and draws a bow.

The guard next to bingo and Purrcy freaks out a bit. He draws his sword and attacks Bingo!

But then slumps down and falls unconscious from all the magic missile damage.

Kaeso can kinda see inside the gated area, and looks at the creature inside with a bit of dread. 10 feet tall, with the head of an owl, but the body of a bear. Enormous claws in its front paws that could probably easy crack skulls. And it looks hungry...

Heading up to Kaeso and gonna cast a cure light wounds on him.

" From the tender caress of the Eternal Rose, may your wounds be mended and your body refreshed"Ionnia preaches as she places a hand on Kaeso and lets the divine energies heal him.

Kaeso feels better, now that he was touched by Ionnia and her healing magic has done its work!

From the back of the room, an ominous figure emerges from the dark. He holds a bow in his arm and has a quiver strung behind him. He steps into the light of the room, takes a quick look around, and sets his sight on Kaeso.

He preps his bow by drawing an arrow, and pulls it back. At that time, cracking yellow energy starts emanating from the antlers of his massive stag helmet. With a flash, a thin ray of yellow light now connects Kaeso's heart and the helmet. Quickly, the ray of light moves down the helmet, across his face, then his arm, and finally, the beam of light is connecting the tip of the readied arrow, and Kaeso's chest.

He grins, lets go, and the arrow flies!

Even though Kaeso was not flat-footed, the stag lord's arrow went straight for his heart!


The giant creature steps outside his cage and the first thing he sees is the Stag Lord to his side. Upon noticing him, the beast lets out a loud roar, and starts to begin frothing at the mouth.

The creature takes a swipe at the Stag Lord, grabs him in it's claw, and shrieks at the masked man.

"Ungh. FALGRIM. Get me out of here!"

Dovan tries to stabilize con: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3 but bleeds out some more.

Akiros says "Lucky break! The Stag Lord will be... problematic. He is able to control Beaky sometimes, but he starves it to death to keep him rabid. Looks like the owlbear remembers... I'll take care of some guards upstairs while he is busy." Looking at Kaeso. "Someone should get the man up!"

Akiros double moves upstairs. On the way, he sees Bingo and Dris have taken care of the guard. Seeing Drispeera inside the cellar, he makes sure to throw a wink and blow a kiss in her direction. Milady...

Hustling out of the tower and half way over the bridge, Mornaura almost falls off when she looks down and realizes with horror that Kaeso is more than seriously injured.

"Kaeso! Oh Spirits, why? We can't lose him! Ionnia, don't let go of him, I'll cover you. And someone needs to take care of the former gate guard soon - his slumber doesn't last for long."

She casts Obscuring Mist, enshrouding the whole entrance area.


Check to see if you are happy with the mist placement. Spans both floors since its centered on you.

None can see what is going in the second floor now, so mystery actions occur!

Bingo moves into the mist and begins to hide!

Q1: The rubble to Dris' left-- does it go all the way to the cellar ceiling/bottom of the 2nd floor? Or is there a gap at the top? If there is a gap-- is it person-sized? wand sized?

Q2: How difficult is the terrain to climb?

Q3: Are either my darkness spell or my levitation still active? They both have a duration of 3 mins?

@Dris 1. no, its just rubble on the floor. Mornaura can even see it fromthe bridge (well, except for the obscuring mist). 2. Dunno... looks pretty easy. Like climbing on a table assuming it's stable. 3. I'll say levitation is still up for a few more rounds.

Dris will levitate just enough to see what all the bellowing and commotion is about. Once she catches a glimpse of what must be the Stag Lord, she'll fire her wand of magic missiles right at him.

Yikes! Well I guess they can't all be as handsome as Akiros, eh Purrcy?

Ionnia cures Kaeso, who comes back to the land of the living!

Due to the obscuring mist, noone can see this, except maybe Dris a little bit over the rubble...

The Stag lord starts to shout and try to command the owlbear to let him go.

The creature calms for a second and releases the man.

"Now get the fresh meat, Beaky..."

The Stag Lord enters the mist, and cannot be currently seen by anyone.

Meanwhile, the owlbear follows him in, and ends up coming out in front of Norn's face!

Drispera sees Akiros run into the mist, Mornaura feels a pat on her butt as he goes past her "sorry honey, getting through", and finally Dris sees him again moving through the web to attack the bandits upstairs.

Mornaura starts following Akiros over the bridge, but jerks to a halt when she sees the owlbear rampaging directly below through the gaps.

"You're not going to eat my friends, beast," she growls, then uses her slumber hex on it.

So Purrcy will move from the rubble to attack Falgrim Sneed/Sneeg. (He was able to hide in the rubble on the west wall last turn, wasn't he?)

Bite Damage: 1d4 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 1 + 2 = 4

This is what Dris would like to do if she's got enough movement. If this won't work, let me know, and I've got a plan B.

Dris will levitate up to see what's going on up on that second floor. Then push off and move forward enough to catch two of the bandits in a blast from her burning hands spell.

Akiros is the green "A". For your plan, levitate only allows you to go up, and not sideways, so there is no way to get closer to the bandits in it without going into the web yourself. Also, Drispeera cannot see anything in the web at all from that side, since there is too much web in the way (after some distance, web blocks vision). Web will catch fire where you burn it, but it will also then spread to the rest of the web.

Purrcy tears into falgrim and trips him!

Jeb, finally waking from his slumber, takes some mystery actions since noone can see him.

Let me know if you want to set the web on fire or plan B. Falgrim may do something different depending on what you do.

Can Dris push off from the ground going a little westward? Or take a 5' step before levitating-- just enough to catch the ledge when she goes up.
If the 2nd floor is 20 feet up she'll go forward 5 and up 15. With her feet 15' off the ground she should be able to see the web.

Then she'll toss an alchemists fire about 10' into the web so she can see better. To hit if you need it...

The Stag Lord moves up, Kaeso, he triggers an AOO from you, if you want to take it. Just add in a 20% miss chance in the mist, and looks to his two enemies. He decides the Paladin is both less armored and a using ranged weapons, so he takes a shot in point-blank range.

attack: 1d20 + 10 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 10 + 1 + 2 = 33
confirm: 1d20 + 10 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 10 + 1 + 2 = 22
damage: 1d8 + 6 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 6 + 1 + 2 = 14

Urgh, that's brutal... While I really really dislike metagaming, let me make an exception for Norn once. Kaeso, if you don't mind me giving you

advice:
you're the only one who can save Norn - by making that attack not happen. For example, you could try tripping him (can't use a bow when you're prone) or sundering the bow.
