The party works to put out the fire and save the Blissful Badger.
Using the bag of salt that Bishop had spotted, Lord Bragget put out the grease fire where it had started.
Unfortunately, as you entered the kitchen, the fire had spread toward the exterior door.
You look around the kitchen to find other ways to fight the spreading fire. Erlathan spied a large tin of baking soda. Lord Braggett spotted a burlap sack of kitty litter. Nina spotted a large kettle of gruel.
Vegazi moves into the kitchen and takes a position next to the flames. "Pass me something to put out the fire!"
So at this point in "Round" 2, here's the party's status:
Lord Bragget has moved to and retrieved the kitty litter (Holding the kitty litter, but out of actions).
Erlathan is in the kitchen and has a full round of actions. The baking soda is next to him.
Bishop is in the kitchen and has a full round of action.
Nina is in the kitchen and has a standard action. The pot of porridge hangs from the hearth, west of where the fire has spread.
Hanlin is in the kitchen and has a standard action.
Vegazi is next to the fire and has a standard action.
Jumping onto the 3-foot tall table requires a DC12 Acrobatics check.

![]() |

Bishop watches as the fire continues to grow. Seeing little time to act he leaps on to the table in front of him and move in between Braggett and Vegazi. He lifts the bag from the gnome's hands and gets ready to pass it to Vegazi or whoever else might take it.
Acrobatics DC12: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (15) + 10 = 25
Move action 1 = jump on table and move into position. Move action 2= grab bag from Braggett

![]() |

Bishop leaps on the table like a gripping in mating season. He grabs the sack of kitty litter from Lord Braggett and drops the contents on the flames. With a hiss and a cloud of mint-scented potpourri, the fire is snuffed out.
Lying near the kitchen door, Isald Forgemore lifts her head. ”Thank you for saving the Badger.” The dwarf coughs. ”Two more of the devils went into the cellars. There’s no way out of there, but I fear they’ll destroy my stores.”

![]() |

"Well, good sir dwarf," Erlathan pauses to let his purposeful racially provocative intonation set in, "We will dispatch these two remaining devils with haste, we will. Won't we, Lord Braggett?"

![]() |

"Ha ha! With the utmost haste, Sir, we will rid the basement of devils before the smoke in here has cleared!" Not one to need much encouragement, Lord Braggett rushes to collect his weapons. However, he does spare a second to note how incredible it was that Bishop jumped onto the table and extinguished the fire.
Mounted on Sir Kibble, he waits at the top of the stairs for the others to recover before once more entering the fray.
Back to the silver scimitar, just in case it works. :)

![]() |

After catching your breath, you head down the spiral stairwell to the Blissful Badger's cellar.
As Lord Bragget peers around the corner, he spots two lemures busy devouring the hanging meats on the far end of the cellar. He's pretty sure they haven't noticed you yet.
Barrels of wine flank the walls of the long stone cellar. On the eastern end of the basement, various meats hang from chains and hooks attached to the ceiling.

Once the fire is out and Isald the FEMALE Dwarf is up in a chair and out of danger, Hanlin collects and restows his wands and weaponry before taking up a seat next to the Dwarf. "Don't worry Isald, its your lucky day we're here to help. Those fiends in the basement stand no chance, but before I go let me ask for a quick prayer from Iomedae to grant us strength and restore our vigor, yours included." He looks a bit disappointed, and does it a second time.
Hanlin will hold the palm of his hand up and channel the power of healing to everyone around the table. Channel Heal: 1d6 ⇒ 1 Channel Heal: 1d6 ⇒ 5 Prior to heading down into the basement Hanlin will also use his wand of bless again and have his shield at the ready, weapons sheathed.

Bishop once again draws his birch wood wand with the silver tip and gifts its power to his dagger with success. He tries to bestow the same enchantment to Lord Braggett's but is able channel the energy as the group makes it move towards the stairs.
Hearing Erlathan's plan he moves cautiously up, "Patience is needed here for your plan to work, Erlathan. Let us see what can be done then." Then Bishop puts his fingers to his mouth and whistles loudly to draw the lemures towards them.

Lord Braggett thanks Hanlin kindly for the healing, and Bishop for wand tap before heading down stairs. "Be careful, Sir!" I never knew the reason to use a light shield was you could still hold items in that hand... and I guess the reason to use them over a buckler is you can still use them to shield bash. Who knew?
Shield, Light; Wooden or Steel: You strap a shield to your forearm and grip it with your hand. A light shield's weight lets you carry other items in that hand, although you cannot use weapons with it.
Wooden or Steel: Wooden and steel shields offer the same basic protection, though they respond differently to some spells and effects.
Shield Bash Attacks: You can bash an opponent with a light shield. See "shield, light" on Table: Weapons for the damage dealt by a shield bash. Used this way, a light shield is a martial bludgeoning weapon. For the purpose of penalties on attack rolls, treat a light shield as a light weapon. If you use your shield as a weapon, you lose its AC bonus until your next turn. An enhancement bonus on a shield does not improve the effectiveness of a shield bash made with it, but the shield can be made into a magic weapon in its own right.

"Did someone say greasy?" Erlathan asks in rhetoric, his lips pulled in the most smug of grins.
He points the wand of grease at the two lemures and conjures up a slippery pile of goop beneath them.

Hanlin drops a cloud of bubbly bless on the party, and Erlathan moves within range of the lemures, points his wand and squirts a ten-foot puddle of grease at them. The yellow devil slips, falling ass-over-teakettle, but the spell does little more than moisturize the red fiend's tumorous skin.

Lord Braggett's silvered scimitar flashes, and he slays the last lemure.
Victory!
Isald Forgemore stumbles out of the stairwell, relief and dismay warring across her face. She makes her way through the puddles of grease and infernal blood, and a meat cleaver from the kitchen ensures the devils will never awaken.
In the northeast corner of the cellar, the dwarf lifts a loose flagstone. From beneath the tile, she pulls out a plain canvas bag and carries it upstairs.
You follow the dwarf to the taproom, where she empties the contents onto a table. "It may not be much, but you've earned it for saving me and the Blissful Badger."
The treasure includes two water purification sponges, a masterwork heavy crossbow with 20 bolts, a +1 buckler, a scroll of daze monster, and two oils of align weapon (good).
Isald walks over to the bar and retrieves a few more items that she adds to the pile. "Takes these as well. I'll wager you'll need them."
Isald gifts you three potions of cure light wounds, two flasks of holy water, a cold iron dagger, and a sack of itching powder, and a silver figurine of a raven.
Vegazi picks up the small figurine. She's visibly captivated by the silver raven.
You hear the sounds of battle outside the inn, shouting, screaming, and metal clashing.
Vegazi curses and sets the silver figurine of the bird back down on the table next to the rest of the party's treasure. "We should hurry. These people cannot hope to defeat Hell's Fury and their devils without our help."
Isald nods in grim agreement. "If you need aid, seek the cleric, Ovir Radan."

![]() |

Erlathan applauds Lord Braggett's performance. "Bravo, bravo. Your talents truly are exceptional, my lord! I only wish I could complement my magical prowess with some of that fancy swordwork of yours!" His words sound sincere, this time.
He sighs upon hearing it's not over yet. "I suppose the battle continues outside. I guess we should assist after some quick recovery, yes?" He checks both wands for charges. Thirty-five left on the magic missile wand... Seems inadequate against these oily, nasty devils!

![]() |

Hanlin nod with approval as Isald gets some frustration out on the downed devils "You can never be too sure, well done everyone." He says as he slings his shield over his shoulder and holster's his silvered mace.
Once they head upstairs to reconvene and take a breath, he watches Isald drag out the tools of war "You've been preparing for this I can see, these tools will be put to use slaying these fiends and protecting this town!"
He takes an especially close look at the buckler, looking around at the others if they would use it as well. "If we are going to get outside to put the sword to those things I need to get my armor on, Braggett you should do the same. With some helping hands it'll only take a couple minutes."
I'd use this but if Bishop or whoever else wants to then my shield is just dandy. The rest of the stuff is better put in you all's hands.

![]() |

Lord Braggett puffs out his chest and smiles, lapping up the praise as the last lemure falls, "It's all in the wrist, Sir." He gives a few swipes and twirls of the blade to show off, "If you are amenable, I should be glad to give you a crash course one day."
A few moments later, Braggett is looking at the pile of loot with wide eyes, nodding along to Hanlin, "It is indeed an impressive collection of tools Lady Isald." He picks up one of the flasks of oil and swirls it around in the light, "Rest assured, with this, we will rid you of your demon problem in no time." He then quickly checks Kibble over for any injuries and enthusiastically responds to the call for arms, "Then let us make haste, my friends, and SUIT UP!"
I'd quite like an oil of align weapon to help with devils, if no one else minds. :)

![]() |

Just as you're racing back down the stairs, Mayor Proum bursts into the Blissful Badger's taproom. He's half-dressed and bloodied. "Thank goodness you're still alive! Please come with me!"
Once you exit the tavern, the extent of the chaos in Arwyll Stead becomes much clearer. Townsfolk run through the streets, flocks of gaavs assail buildings and innocents, and lemures pour down the cobblestone avenues in a scene of almost total anarchy.
"The leader of the raid, a female tiefling wielding a double axe and looking like the dead one you brought with you from the Path Road, was seen running down the streets toward the catacombs. With the town’s guards occupied keeping order and fending off devils, I have few other options than to turn to you for help clearing out the monsters from the town’s sacred burial chambers. If you wish to further demonstrate your heroism to Arwyll Stead, we would welcome it."
He leads you in a mad dash across the village, but pulls up abruptly at the chapel of Iomedae. "Ovir, it's me, Proum. Open the door!"
The harried cleric Ovir Radan is busy tending the wounded. He sees the wounded Nina and ushers her to a spot near the dying. He grasps his holy symbol of Iomedae and channels energy, healing the gnome and many of the townsfolk bleeding on the floor of the chapel.
As the desparate mayor turns to resume the race to the catacombs, Ovir hands you a bundle of five raining arrows, already filled with holy water. "Take these. Use them to save Arwyll Stead."
Mayor Proum leads you to the entrance to the catacombs. He leans against the outer wall, trying to catch his breath. "The catacombs were excavated in the early years of Arwyll Stead, when the town was little more than Arwyll Estate and the land around it, and they’ve been expanded upon several times throughout the town’s history. It’s a sacred area for most of the residents of Arwyll Stead."
He points back to the chapel. "I'm going to try to organize the survivors around the chapel. But our best hope is your success eliminating their diabolical leader. Godspeed." He takes a ragged breath and runs off.

Arwyll Stead’s catacombs are broad and impressive, with 15-foot-tall ceilings throughout. Although it's completely dark, empty sconces line the walls every 20 feet.
A pile of boulders, broken rock, and rubble blocks the main passageway through the catacombs where the ceiling collapsed, years ago judging by the settled dust. On either side of the hallway, five-foot-wide passages lead to the north and south.
What do you want to do? Where do you want to go? How have you distributed the items given you by Isald and Ovir?

During the mad scramble for everyone to suit up in their armor and to distribute the gear offered to them by Isald, Nina finally manages a spare moment to conjure up her faithful loving supportive extremely patient 'steed', Inky. "Oh Inky, I'm so glad to see you," the gnome exclaims as she throws her arms around the eidolon's neck. "It's awful, there's devils everywhere and I didn't have any time to summon you and so I've had to fight on foot and that's really hard and I keep missing and they burnt breakfast!"
Thankfully, Nina's downcast mood doesn't seem to last but just a few moments. She immediately brightens up, releasing Inky and turning her attention towards the items offered to them. "But now that you're here with me and I've got my armor on and we have all these handy items to help us, I know everything will be just fine. Now come on, let's finish getting ready so we can go save the town!"
After the group quickly peruses the offered equipment, Nina selects one of the healing potions, a water purification sponge, and the itching powder. "Hee...itching powder on a devil? They'll never see it coming!"
_______
Once they arrive at the catacombs, Nina frowns when she realizes that the corridors are tight and will necessitate a single-file approach for the time being. "Phooey...it's hard to fight in these little tiny spaces. Um...I guess Inky and I can stay near the back and keep watch behind us; Lord Braggett's the better fighter so he should be closer to the front," she whispers.
"Oh! And we should start by going left," she adds, indicating the passage leading towards the north. "I heard someone that going left is lucky!"
_______
Nina's already got a cold iron dagger and one vial of holy water, so she's good there. She could use the scroll of Daze Monster but I think it'd be better-served in Erlathan's hands. She's got a healing wand but I figured having one potion to use in the thick of things might be handy - however she'll let someone else take it if need be. I *think* Nina could use the +1 Buckler with her lance but as before, she'll be happy to let Hanlin or Lord Braggett or Bishop have first dibs. Same for the remaining Oil of Align Weapon; she'll take it if no one else needs/wants it.
I think Vegazi should get the raining arrows and the silver raven figurine :)

Hanlin heads down the stairs in a hurry, his breastplate now strapped on and his backpack and weapons loaded up. He moves considerably slower and clumsier as a result. "I've gotta say, it was much easier fighting without this thing on, but then again, nothing tried to gut me with its claws..." He taps on the steel for good measure, before following the others and the Mayor.
Once they arrive at the shrine Hanlin gives his brother in the cloth the secret handshake, known only to those indoctrinated into the Iomedaen order. (I'd explain it further but then I'd have to kill you.) "Well met Brother Ovir! Rally the town, we'll deal with the leader. Godspeed to you."
As they descend down into the Catacombs, Hanlin casts a spell on this shield, causing it to glow like a torch. "If anyone has a torch, or a way to light one, maybe we should light these up, just in case." He points to the unlit sconces on the wall. "Devils and orcs have no problems seeing in the darkness."
Hanlin takes a few steps towards the collapsed ceiling, looking around. He's got his shield strapped to his arm and his longsword in hand. Perception: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10
Ya the only thing that would make some sense for Hanlin is the buckler, but if its something someone else could put to use then have at it (Pretty sure you can use it with a lance). If everyone else has healing potions I wouldn't be against having one on my person where everyone knows where it is in case I go down. The raining arrows (cool item) should go to the archer and Hanlin (nor I!) have any idea what the Raven does.

I think giving the buckler to either Braggett or Nina would be best. Scroll = Erlathan. Arrows = Vegazi. Oils of Align Weapon = Braggett and Nina. I will take 1 potion of CLW
Bishop looks at the tight quarters "I'll lead just in case there unexpected surprises waiting for us. What is so important about the burial chambers?"
Bishop produces a steel wand and begins activate it on himself as they reach the entrance to the crypt.
