Barbo Beezle |
Thanks for the explanation, Fran! I forgot everything was Nation based before.
For purchases, Barbo picked up a Pearl of Power I and a headband of Int.
As for players, I'll think on that...
Fran Belmont |
Hey ho, working today so if there are any further developments I'll catch up on them later tonight; feel free to bot Fran (and Mr. Sunshine!) as needed :)
Not sure on players; I might let someone else make recommendations this time if they've got someone in mind :)
Einn Sparkbearer |
If they have the bandwidth and a character in range, PJPwould be a great addition.
GM Lorenzo |
Sent PJP a PM. We'll see. Anybody have a problem proceeding with 5 players?
Fran Belmont |
If PJP (who I've enjoyed playing with) isn't available then I'm fine with proceeding with 5 players :)
Stephani du Boules |
Good morning, folks! PJP Here. I am just catching up on the discussions to date, but I would be happy to join in the fun. It looks like we have a pretty magic heavy group here, so maybe you need some muscle?
So, I have this level 4 paladin that might be a good fit - decent fighter, well-armored, and good diplomacy skills.
I also have a few stealthier choices, though, if you need skills instead of brawn.
Need to maybe make a few purchases/upgrades before heading out, though.
Lady Vanessa Reisende |
A paladin! This will make for some interesting interplay with Lady Vanessa. I hope Stephani's not too uptight about bluffing / lying by party members. I have the feeling we're gonna have to do a bit of that. But if she is - then all the more Fun!
I'm never one to ask/tell a player what character they should play. I truly believe in "Play what you want." But we are pretty low on the skills/stealth, especially for this particular mission, based on the mission briefing.
Either way, Welcome aboard!
GM Lorenzo |
@Stephani, once you've decided on the PC you wish to play, please "ninja-dot" into the Gameplay thread, so your character is officially added to the party.
Fuzzfoot Hogan |
For comparison, here is my "stealth & skills" character. Both options are fun for me. While the paladin is fairly straight and narrow, most of her career has been in a group that included a "reformed" necromancer, and they were able to make it work. (It helps that her holy symbol is actually her own father's skull, and that it talks to her regularly - even though no one else hear's it).
Fuzzfoot, here, is much less on the "legal" side of things, although he has his own morale codes. But while he can certainly hide in the shadows, when it comes to combat, he is very noisy - he enjoys bombs!
I think either would be fine in social setting. Let me think on if for an hour or so (and feel free to comment meanwhile if you have an opinion), and then I will get into character!
Lady Vanessa Reisende |
A halfling in the Chelish embassy! It wouldn't be hard to bluff that he's one of our servants / slaves, that's for sure. Tho how would he feel about that...
Fuzzfoot Hogan |
All caught up on the mission briefing, and it sounds like Fuzzy is your man. Well, half-sized man. Going to reset consumables and maybe a few purchases.
Lady Vanessa Reisende |
@GM Lorenzo: The last time I played Lady Vanessa was at your PBP table of Paths We Choose. At the beginning of that (in this post), she spent 20 gp on Fashionable Accessories keyed to Absalom:
"These accessories allow a courtier’s, entertainer’s, or noble’s outfit to match the height of style in a particular city for 2d4 months. You gain a +2 circumstance bonus on Diplomacy checks to make requests of denizens of that city while wearing the accessories and an appropriate outfit. The bonus also applies on Bluff and Disguise checks to convince others that you hail from that city."
So, since time between sessions is indeterminate, are these accessories still good, or has 2d4 ⇒ (3, 1) = 4 months passed?
Fran Belmont |
*waves* Happy to have you along!
GM Lorenzo |
Fuzzfoot, please add your PC's info, including Perception and Initiative modifiers on Slide 2
Einn, please add your Perception modifier on Slide 2.
Everybody, with the changes in the team composition, please take a look at the standard march orders on Slide 1 and let me know if we need to make changes.
Fuzzfoot Hogan |
Finally got purchases from downtime sorted, and a few other bookkeeping items.
Purchases: +1 enhance to armor (1000 gp), ring of protection +1 (2000 gp), boots of the cat (1000 gp) - minimum damage from fall, Headband of vast intelligence +2 (4000 gp), Sleeves of many garments (200 gp), potion of cure moderate wounds (300 gp), potion of blur (300), potion of cure moderate wounds (300 gp): 9100 spent
Also, spending 2 Prestige to get a wand of grease
So I have re-updated perception, since it went up with this.
GM Lorenzo |
Fuzzfoot, what's the +16TF? I glanced at your character sheet, and I'm not sure.
GM Lorenzo |
Hi, folks. Before I advance the action, I'm trying to understand the party's intentions here.
Short summary: Low primary diplomacy roll from Einn with a bunch of aids. No one's agreed to identify themselves--even though the official has asked three times. Halfling entered the room, went stealthy, then was sort of "outed," though not yet seen. There was mention of a package, but it hasn't yet made an appearance.
Is the party's intention to provoke a response from Embassy security?
Lady Vanessa Reisende |
Waiting for Fuzzfoot to deliver the package, actually. Perhaps GM could bot the sleight of hand check for him?
Lady V will re-engage in the meantime. Post forthcoming....
GM Lorenzo |
Ambrus Valsin gave the package to Lady Vanessa. I must have missed the post where she handed it off. Fuzzfoot's doing a stealthy recon.
Lady Vanessa Reisende |
Okay, so do we retcon that she handed it off, OR wait for him to post, OR bot him? He may have missed that there were 2 packages and misunderstood which one he was carrying. (This is soooo much easier F2F sometimes.) As you say, we can't proceed until Ailena gets her fix....
Forget it. I'm gonna post as if she never handed it off. Can't proceed otherwise.
Fuzzfoot Hogan |
I thought I had the drugs, but had an entire post go missing from yesterday, so it is out of place now. Fuzzfoot has not gone far, though, and should hear what has transpired so far.
Lady Vanessa Reisende |
Ahah! That makes more sense now. Yeah, I had part of a post get eaten, too. Courtesy of our friends at PaizoTech.
Also realized I was forgetting to add the circumstantial +2 to Diplomacy when "making requests of denizens of" Absalom.
@GM: You said Einn had a "low primary Diplomacy roll", but it was a 24. Her Bluff was only a 13. Lady V's Diplo was only 23. Was 24 plus a couple Aids not enough, or was it a requirement to slip her the shiver? Just wondering where we went wrong there.
Fran Belmont |
Hey folks, just a note that I'll be heading out of town later today for a work training trip and won't be back until late on Friday the 20th. I'll have my laptop but the amount of free time I'll have to use it after today (Sunday) is uncertain so please go ahead and bot Fran & Mr. Sunshine as needed; if I have enough time to check in and post I will but otherwise I'll catch up when I get home.
Oh and if I do end up with some free time my first posting priority will be to my GMed games so if you see posts from GM Ladile elsewhere but none here that'll be why. Hopefully that'll avoid any 'I SEE U POSTIN' Y U NO POST FOR <X> GAME!?!?' confusion :P
________
Also, apologies for the confusion earlier; Mr. Sunshine's antics were meant more as a 'stalling' tactic than anything while someone else produced the goods for the clerk!
GM Lorenzo |
One technique we use is to first copy our text, then select “preview” or “submit post.”
If your post is lost, you can paste your text into a new post and try again.
Fuzzfoot Hogan |
I think sometimes I click preview and then don't click the final submit, maybe? Or sometimes it just doesn't fully post - especially if I took a long time writing it. I try to always wait to confirm, but the site gets so slow and I can't always wait it out...
Fuzzfoot Hogan |
Ha! I had no idea about Halflings in Cheliax. I finally looked up the term slip, which I mistakenly thought was a slur for thief...
So, it looks like I have landed myself in a pickle.
Barbo Beezle |
Next time you go to pick a lock, let a use the scroll of disguise on you to make you appear like the head chef. hehehe That might help us avoid a second strike, even if you get caught.
Barbo Beezle |
While a pig is memorable, claiming him as my familiar shouldn't be super surprising to most people. I mean, most nobles would have a magic user in their party, right?
Lady Vanessa Reisende |
@GM, I'm unclear as to whether the door toward the gardens was actually locked, or if Mr. Chef simply arrived before Fuzzfoot had a chance to ascertain that.
Barbo Beezle |
Reminder: We have two scrolls of disguise self, as well as two elixirs of hiding. The scrolls are Personal. If Fuzzfoot can't cast one, then maybe we save those for later since none of the spellcasters are suspects yet.
Next time we need to unlock a door, I can use Silent Image to make a wall or something to block line of sight. That may help.
For right now, I guess we go into the ball room? I'm not seeing another route...
Fuzzfoot Hogan |
Cool on the silent image - I though I asked about that earlier, but maybe I dreamed it (or another game). Fuzzfoot has a UMD of +13, so the scroll is likely to work. He also has it on his known extracts list, but he didn't prepare one for today, and I don't think that helps with scrolls for an alchemist.
Could you use silent image to make a fake wall along the back of the ballroom (effectively making the ballroom appear a few feet smaller than it is) that we could all walk behind?
Barbo Beezle |
I only get 8 ten foot cubes, so that won't be enough to get us across if the ballroom is more than ten feet tall. And, people might notice if the room suddenly got smaller. Even if they believed the illusion.
GM Lorenzo |
Just a reminder, folks, to please move your icons on the map to reflect your movement mentioned in your posts. Helps us see a common operating picture. Thanks.
Lady Vanessa Reisende |
Einn already did a Bluff earlier when she spoke to the Grand Raja and got a 19 on that one, in case it got forgotten.
GM Lorenzo |
Yup, not forgotten, already accounted for. After the "grand entrance," I just need one check from each PC.
I know you've played the scenario before and GMed it once. Have faith, brother. I'm not out to screw anybody over.
Lady Vanessa Reisende |
My sincere apologies.
The previous post should probably have begun with @Einn. It was more in case she had forgotten she'd already rolled the check. I tend to forget to use the @ tag.
I trust you man. As does Lady Vanessa.
GM Lorenzo |
Only a little drool in the gruel.
It earned the team one more strike, but it also shaved only 5 minutes (instead of 10) off what remains of your time to accomplish the mission and get back to the waiting room.
As soon as everybody attempts a post-spit skill check (or something else creative), we can assess the overall result of this scene and move on.
